    a row of cocktails

We came here for my birthday in September, and my mom was such a fan, we came back for her birthday in December. The first go around it was a hot summer day and we sat inside. This time around it was a cold winter day and we were sat on the heated patio but it was awfully cold. Other than that, we had great service for a Sunday service. We ordered some drinks and my mom enjoyed the Mexican Flag margarita. I had the fajitas, and they were a moderate portion compared to other large scale mexican restaurants. I typically just get the taco, but I enjoyed my fajitas, I didn't have any leftovers to take home. They do offer a complimentary birthday dessert and the fried ice cream is out of this world good!! My mom really had a nice birthday and we will be back for another I'm sure.

Tex-Mex Taco (beef) Crispy Taco (chicken)

Very disappointed in the service. I showed up at 4:50pm, there was no host/ hostess. 4:55pm I seated myself at the bar. 20 minutes later at 5:15pm, my order was taken. I got my queso appetizer at 5:24pm. My 2 tacos finally came at 5:55pm, with an apology about the wait. I finally got my check at 6:20pm. I paid with cash and left due to the amount of time I had spent there. Overall, I was there for 1.5 hours (by myself, party of 1). Now about the food, the food was very bland. The queso was very basic. The beef tex-mex taco I got was just seasoned ground beef inside of 2 corn tortillas (corn tortillas due to my gluten allergy) topped with shredded cheddar cheese. The chicken crispy taco I got was just shredded chicken and shredded cheddar cheese in a crispy shell. No real flavor anywhere.

Table(s) filthy and menus! ...But the Hostess can just stand around and talk! This is one of our favorite restaurants.

I really like the food at Roha and did go there frequently but if you're ordering a cheese & chicken quesadillas with only cheese and chicken, you might be in for "Groundhog" Experience, and a long night. So, we ordered a cheese and chicken quesadilla . We made it clear that it was cheese and chicken only each time. But When we received it, there were tomatoes on it and onions, I believe, so we sent it back and no big deal. 10 minutes later, they sent another one and the exact same thing happened. Each time we had to chase down a staff, so it wouldn't even be longer, after the second one you would've thought that we would've got a visit from the manager by now? So we ordered a third one, we've explained it each time what we wanted but this time receiving the third wrong quesadilla , We thinking it's ridiculous and hard to believe. I'm literally looking around to see if we're on a camera? When the third came to the table wrong, I became frustrated, because my son was the only one in the group that was really hungry. Who ordered the quesadilla . We asked for the manager. He came to the table. We explained that it was three quesadillas made wrong. I'm not sure he realized, and we explained that we ordered it with cheese and chicken only. The manager gave a little bit of a defense for the staff towards the cooking staff that the chicken only comes with tomatoes, etc. "in order to get just chicken and cheese, only we would've had to get fajita chicken?" Now, this is when I became frustrated. He made it sound like we share some of the responsibility yet we described what we wanted each time. As far as I'm concerned, we shouldn't have to be worried about what their process is and how they got it wrong if they were unable to do it they should've communicated that. No big deal. They have to use chicken fajita meat and cheese. We wouldn't even have known otherwise so the fact that he tried to shift that a little bit absolutely unacceptable if I was the owner of this restaurant, I would want to know how one family could get the wrong thing sent to their table three times? * Kind of creepy note I did not take the two pictures of the table that's on our post. Our table was clean.*

Haven't went to Roja for about 8 years. So we decided to try it again. We are glad we did! It was so much better than we remember! The free salsa and chips that come out after you sit down was very good with a hint of heat, not too much though my kids enjoyed it. The chips were thin and seasoned with just the right amount of salt. The cheese dip was a lot smaller than expected for $7.99, a little runny but good. I had the Smothered Beef Burrito it was so good! Great portion size, I had to take some home, the rice was good, and the pickled jalapeño's were delicious! My wife had the two chimichangas, she liked them but liked the Smothered Beef Burrito better. She did end up bringing one of them home so she basically has another meal. My kids had the kids cheese quesadilla with fries, the kids chicken fingers with fries and the beef enchilada meal. The cheese they use in the cheese quesadilla was amazing it was probably just regular cheese but it was very good. I didn't try the chicken fingers but my son eat it all. The waiter was okay, I never did get a straw, but that's okay. He seemed very busy with other tables even though it wasn't busy I have never been a server so I'm sure he did the best he could. I would definitely go back!

Very clean and simple style make it easy to fit in and relax. It was a bit less intimate than I expected though. Excellently prepared and served food. The included salsa was a bit hot but not outside of my (wimpy) comfort range. Likewise, the Shrimp Alambres was phenomenal! The chipotle aioli made it perfect for me. I ate some of the grilled jalapeño but not the part with seeds. I appreciate that they staffed for the evening rush. I was there early (4-ish) and got seated right away and was very pleased with the attention paid. It was very busy by the time I left. But I could tell they were ready for it.

We came here on a Saturday night and it was very busy. We were able to quickly get on a waitlist and were seated faster than we expected. After getting seated, our waiter brought over a bowl of chips and salsa - the chips were thinner than we'd like and the salsa could've had more of a kick. I ordered a lime margarita, but it was so sugary, not enough tequila. For food, we ordered a smothered burrito. Flavor was good and was very filling. We also ordered a tex-mex taco plate - it was pretty basic, nothing to rave about. The ambience of the restaurant was a highlight, they had decorations that made you feel like you were sitting in a desert outside.

Rojas serves up great Mexican food and drink with great service as well. I've experienced the Quesadillas, Enchildas, Carne Asada Tacos, and more than a few Margaritas. They are consistent, efficient, and fun. It was a pleasure to go back there on a recent visit and see they have not missed a beat. Great value also!

We visit Roja once a year maybe, and it's hit or miss each time. Dont even think about coming without a reservation, but if you have one, things flow smoothly. Margaritas are not too sweet, and not very strong, but a good buy during happy hour. Chips are light, warm and nicely salted and the accompanying salsa is tomatoey fresh. Our dinner order got messed up, but my partner is flexible, so he took what he was given. The onion and cheese enchilada will wait for another day. What he received was two ground beef tacos. Presentation was meh, but he said the meat had a nice flavor different from some standard "old el paso." Fish tacos were great and the smothered pork burrito was good, but waaay too much food. I was trying to recreate an awesome experience I'd had previously with a pork dish when I ordered the burrito, but, alas, this wasnt it. As mentioned, it was good, but not great. The restaurant is open and very loud. It was difficult to have a conversation involving the whole table, so we had one to ones instead. Prices are good -- especially if you order drinks during happy hour.

    - Chicken Taquitos -Tex-Mex happy hour beef tacos -Chile con queso - salsa is served with your meal as well I have been to Roja many times, but the Chicken taquitos are one of my new favorites! I have not eaten taquitos much, and these were so good. Usually, store taquitos are super thin, but these had a lot of chicken inside! I also recommend fish tacos from here, and this queso is so rich and yummy! I would go back! 8.5/10

    Chipotle Pork

Stopped in for an early dinner on a Friday afternoon. Sat at the bar as we usually do. We were greeted promptly and the bartender gave us menus and took our drink order. Shortly afterwards some chips and salsa was delivered. Good fresh chips, and the salsa was very tasty. Assuming it was made in house. We ordered the queso with beef as an appetizer and it was very good. The bottle beer was very cold and my wife's cocktail was nicely made. For dinner I had the Chipotle Pork and my wife had a combination beef platter. In my opinion the food was very well prepared and tasty. My wife thought her beef items were a bit salty, but still good. The restaurant is huge and decorated as expected with a good selection of proper music for a Mexican restaurant. Everything seemed to be well cleaned including the restrooms. All in all, no complaints and we will return. Nice job.

    Fried ice cream

The food was excellent and priced well. I ordered the shrimp cerviche which was served in a cilantro type sauce with toasted Tortilla. I also ordered their guacamole. I liked the guacamole so much I not only ordered another one for the table, but also one to take home. At the end of the meal I ordered their fried ice cream and shared it with my sister, but it was large enough that 1 or 2 more people could enjoy it. Their fried ice cream was the best I have ever had. The service was acceptable, but rushed. I think one more person on wait staff would have been useful. The ambiance was typical for the building esthetics with the concrete floor. Patrons appeared to be enjoying themselves.

Start by sucking down a delicious strawberry Margherita and move on to fresh fajitas and quesadillas. Seasoned beautifully and easy on the palate! Traditional mexican music plays as you relax in the modern industrial vibe decor. Seating options, Bar stools, high top tables or booths, and in the cooler weather sit by the fire pit in the closed in patio area. Just a great place to return again and again.

We started off getting their special Christmas cocktails. I got the Snow Bird and my husband got the Not the buttons. The drinks were pretty disappointing, my husband couldn't even finish a quarter of his. The Snow Bird had a coconut foam on top that was absolutely gross in my personal opinion, but the drink itself was fine once I got the straw and avoided the foam. Both of us got burgers with fries and the burgers were very delicious. I would have liked to have some seasonings on the fries though. The staff were welcoming and as attentive as they could be with only having two of them managing about 7 tables and one bartender. The space is very festive and decorated so cozy. Loved the ambiance!

Their theming and decor is always phenomenal and truly makes the experience magical. I have most recently gone to their halloween pop-up, and their Christmas one as well, and both were equally jaw-dropping when it comes to presentation. The service is always great as well, and our first time at Barnato we were confused on how to locate the speakeasy (since we had never been to one before) and the staff was very helpful. My one note is that their holiday mixed drinks have consistently been nicer to look at than to taste, but we mostly come for the theming anyhow.
