I keep telling myself just say no but I can't kick the dragon off my back so I just keep going. One thing I really don't like doing is electrical work. My house is a good fifty years old but not to bad. The people before me put up new drywall and did some other work but left the original plugs in the wall. So bad the plugs would fall out or be so loose as not to work, I.e phone Charger. Yes, whoever did it is fired in my book. I had to change one because I was hanging a tv up and the plug would drop out after a mere tremor. So here I am on the floor, a big guy with big hands and I suppose these green eyes don't focus the way they used to. Just Being honest it probably took me about an hour just on that one plug. I had two bedrooms and The rest of the living room and hallway to do. I'm still shaking My head when I think of it. I looked around and called Murphys Electric and left a message. The next day I got a call from them and I spilled out my dilemma. He very Nice and patiently listened and then told me they are very busy But he'll see what he could do. Will, by the end of the day he calls back and tells Me he has someone that will be here at 8 am the next day. I was speechless. Ok let's go for it and 8 am the next day Jed pulls up and I show him what I needed and off to work he goes. He had the first bedroom done in an hour! It was great and then he kept going. He even cut a beater opening in the bathroom where I had put up cedar walls and put the plug over the wood. He even spots the outlet that I put in and noticed it was out from the wall a little too much and fixed that up. I was very happy with the work and even showed him the lights I have on the deck where I have it partially roofed and has overhead lights and will have them come back to replace the lights with something like a Key Largo type fan. I have complete confidence in them.

My bathroom fan ran for twenty-four hours straight. My handyman checked the wires and they looked…read moregood. The switch was off but it kept running. This went on periodically for about five days. The handyman finally disconnected the ceiling fan. I called Helco Electric. Mr. Lee Heller came out that afternoon. After checking the wires and the fan he figured it out. When this house was built years ago electricians use to install a humidity thermostat. This was in the hallway not the bathroom. Lee found it and turned it off. That was causing the fan to activate. Those five days were humid, we even had thunder storms. This issue was unknown to my handyman. I never paid attention to that thermostat which is located directly next to my heating and air condition thermostat. Lee was professional and knew what to do to resolve the ongoing problem. The young man that came out was a worker, immediately understood the issue and went after it, broke out the serious equipment and found the first break. He then found the second and excavated both. After running to the supply store to pick up some gear, came back and finished the job. I don't think he took a lunch break, felt bad for that. He explained where he hooked it to the two panels and exactly what we have now and I am a happy customer. This was not the cheapest option but this was a knowledgable person who attacked the problem correctly, resolved it and ready to move on to the next. When he quoted a price of $800 (ended up being $785) I thought, wow that seems very high. But decided to go ahead with install of EV station for EV car. I had all of the equipment new in box. He was done in about an hour. Today I had another electrician do two hours worth of work installing electrical for split unit. His price was $328 (including all parts and labor, and a 10% military discount), well below half of the other guy's price for a job that was much more involved. Lesson learned. I don't appreciate being taken advantage of, especially as a veteran who defended this country. I hate giving bad ratings, but being severely overcharged warrants this two star rating, which should in all honesty be one star.
