I waited two days for the repair, I was ok with that: it was not an emergency. They came out; less than 30 minute repair and parts for a sprinkler valve cost $130. They left, I had to reconnect wires and test with controller. The owner did give me free advise on the phone, but made it sound more major of a repair than it was, but it was site unseen. However, it became obvious as the weather heated up that more sprinklers or different heads needed to be added for better coverage as the grass was drying out. The repair-men were helpful, but installed the wrong size of sprinkler head replacements (they ended up in the ground too far). I called yesterday on a Sunday around 1 PM. Then Rod himself picked up and said he would get back to me to schedule an appointment. He kindly asked me to send him a text with phone number and address. Later in the evening he texted me with a time frame for an arrival of his workers. He said they would arrive between 1030 and 1100. They arrived at 1030 so 10/10 for punctuality! Usually when you're given a time slot they don't arrive until the end of that hour. So yay! Two workers arrived and they assessed the problem and as soon as we agreed to the repairs, they immediately worked on the problem. They charged $260 to replace 3 valves. Their truck came fully equipped with the materials they needed which was great because we needed it done ASAP. Not sure if $260 was a rip-off but we didn't have time to shop around. You always just have to trust the reviews when you call because you can't really call multiple companies have them come out and then tell them "I'll call you back." But they did a good job, leaks stopped, they double checked their work. We will see in a couple of hours to see what happens if their work lasts. read more

Unfortunately my experience with Rod's Sprinkler Solutions has not been stellar. I contacted the company several weeks ago by phone. Rod was in the field at the time and said he'd get back to me when he got back to the office in the evening. Didn't hear from him. Several days later, I called again. At that time he said he didn't return my call because he had another client with the same name but spelled differently and didn't know who to call. He then made an appointment to come to my home at 11:00 on an upcoming day. The day and 11:00 arrived but Rod did not---in fact he didn't show up OR BOTHER to call at all that day to let me know he couldn't make it. I call the company again. His explanation for standing me up was that he was working in Wine Country and had no phone service. He then assured me he would arrive the next day between 1:00 and 1:30 pm. Once again, he was a no show, and again not even the courtesy of a phone call. Who would trust this company to show up and complete a job---not me? FOLLLOWING is my response to Rod's response to my statements above. First of all I haven't yet lived in Temecula four years. 1. Rod did install an elaborate and complicated drip system and did initial support of the system. This was necessary because I have dogs that are ratters by nature and vigorous diggers . Where sprinklers once were, drip lines were run and put into many pots. I did mention at the time that I was concerned that the drip lines were too short and asked if there was a way to fasten them to the flower pots. I was told they were adequate and they would hold on their own. That has not proven to be true, the lines are too short and come out of the pots when the gardener uses his blower and when there are heavy winds. Another problem with the drip system is that the gardener trims with a chain saw and has cut lines in the process--this of course is not Rod's fault. In fairness, the system installed under the covered patio is still working but also needs some repair. 2. Rod's recent offer was to send a team, that would be in the area on another job, to do minor repairs at a time of day I wouldn't be home. I refused this offer because, as he knew, the system repair was major and involved both front and back yards, repair or replacement of valves and a complete redo of the irrigation system. He commented that he needed to take a look at the situation before he could estimate time and cost. I totally agree that he needed to come out and see the issues but a team of workers was not accepted at this time plus the time they would be here was when I wouldn't be home, how would they know what to repair and there would be animals in the yard? There was no mention of a "partner" coming out to do the estimate, Rod left me with the impression it was he that would take a look. In a nutshell my complaint is lack of consideration and simple notification when he couldn't keep his appointments. Once would have been and was excusable but three times is not. Or if he was too busy to take care of my needs, that he wasn't up front with me and had simply said, "thanks for think of us but at this time we just have to much on our schedule to take on this job." read more

We hired them to fix a zone that was not watering. They charged $225.00 (which we paid), they replaced a valve that was not entirely broken and wasn't even covering the broken zone. They claimed to have done a test of all the zones (which we didn't ask for). Basically they charged us for work we didn't ask for and we had to hire another company to fix the problem. So my backyard sprinklers weren't coming on. Hubby took a look and couldn't figure it out. Gardener took a look and couldn't figure it out, so I went to Yelp and found Rods Sprinkler Solutions. I was referred to Rod by my another contractor to cap off lines for our irrigation that were disrupted due to our pool being dug. My husband and I decided to have Rod do more work because well we needed a lot more irrigation related work done to our home and he was referred so we figured we might as well use him while he was there. Rod does not communicate well in my opinion. Rod does not insure his work or stand by his work. Rod bids the project out at an hourly rate that is automatically doubled as all of his jobs are 2 person jobs and you don't learn this until he is collecting payment. When and if you call Rod back to your home to fix the work that was left incomplete or lines that are in fact still not working or in worse shape than before he came, he bills you again and more than he did the first time. I did business with Rod in April. I waited to write my review to see if after I gave it time I would not be as upset but sorting through the paperwork for the pool I found a receipt for Rod's work and I was reminded that his pricing is atrocious and his customer service leaves much to be desired. read more
