When the battery light comes on, it means your vehicle is being powered by the battery only, instead of the alternator. Owner Tu told me to remove the negative battery cable while the car was running. The car died. Easy over the phone diagnosis. I swapped out for a new battery and drove over. Tu got a new alternator delivered and installed the next day. The price was far below my other estimates. I immediately asked him to do rear shocks also, to throw him some extra business. Parts delivered and installed same day. He made this entire process happen in days before thanksgiving. Other shops couldn't see me until December. I've already spoken to Tu about some other minor work I would like to have done. Once again he removes the steering wheel to make a quick diagnosis on the cruise control. I plan to get more done after the holidays. I highly recommend this mechanic for his service, professionalism, and overall great personality.

However, any mechanical repair is extremely expensive. I received an estimate to change the sway away bars, rear suspension/rear shock absorbers and change the tripods for close to $1,500. I found a local small shop mechanic that did it for less than $700. Also, on another vehicle, the horn wasn't working, so Oxford gave me an estimate to fix it for $450. I reviewed YouTube videos and was able to fix it myself, since the problem was simply that the ground cable was not making contact. Bought a 2' copper cable, changed the horn and changed the plug, all for less than $60. Yes, $450 vs $60. Again, I don't think they are bad mechanics, but way too pricey. Won't go back.

The long version - I had a bad experience at a different shop where my first call was great but my on site experience was terrible so I decided to call around. Cody answered and really set the tone for a wonderful experience. He was kind and accommodating, but I was still skeptical. So I showed up and was greeted right away even though a handful of people were already in line. As another employee walked by, he also greeted us and let us know it would be just a couple minutes. The place is bright and clean with a very comfy waiting area that includes drinks and snacks. The line moved quickly and Mike was the one who checked me in. He took the time to find out what my concerns were and asked questions to get as much info as possible for the tech. Even with other clients there, Mike gave me his full attention and didn't rush, yet everything was efficient and thorough. You can tell he genuinely cares about helping people and that's the vibe I get from the whole team there. I was able to take the shuttle home even though the regular driver was off that day. Curtis (an advisor) filled in and was so friendly. At this point I was still holding on to a little of that skepticism because I've been a service advisor, I've had over 100 vehicles, driven over a million miles, and had work done in at least ten different states at countless shops. I know electrical issues can be difficult and some techs just push them out the door without doing any work. Luckily that's not the case here. I got a call from the technician the same day. He explained what was going on so far, asked a couple questions, and let me know what the plan was. Again, no rushing, just kindness, caring, and good energy. I'm sorry I didn't clarify his name, I heard Muño but I could be way off. Either way, as a customer, he was one of the best technicians I've talked to. I later got a text with the inspection report. It was clear, thorough, and had videos of my vehicle along with pre recorded videos that explained some of the systems and issues. Then I get a call from Mike and we talked about how to prioritize the repairs since I'm on a budget. He didn't try to make me feel bad for not being able to get some of the work done, he didn't change his tone and rush me off the phone. He was compassionate and gave me honest feedback about which things are safety concerns and which ones I can come back for when I'm ready. I am so impressed with the whole team at this location and love the fact that everyone communicates so well. I didn't have to call them once and I was able to text if I did anything. I don't think you'll find a more caring team anywhere. I've had plenty of good advisors, good managers, and decent techs individually, but in 30 years of vehicle ownership, I have not found a place where every single person down the line held the same standard of honesty and kindness. This is now my go to shop for everything and I don't even live nearby! So if you need work, even if you're 20 miles away, this is the place you need to go!! It took longer than I expected but it was not their fault. They gave me updates and even a discount for my waiting, I was surprised by that gesture and really appreciated it.
