They diagnosed suspension components as the cause and recommended over $1,700 in repairs. After keeping my car for several days and failing to return calls and voicemails, I finally got through to them and was told the repairs were completed--but the knocking noise was still there. I paid $1,704.45 and picked up my car with the exact same problem I brought it in for. I was also told their alignment machine/software did not have the specifications for my vehicle, yet the invoice states that alignment was declined by the customer. To make matters worse, they entered the wrong mileage on my invoice. My car has approximately 60,000 miles, but the invoice shows the vehicle leaving the shop with nearly 100,000 miles. I now have to spend my own time dealing with the consequences of that error and making sure it does not affect my vehicle history. Paying over $1,700 and leaving with the same unresolved problem is unacceptable. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend taking your vehicle elsewhere, especially if you need an accurate diagnosis rather than simply replacing parts and hoping for the best.

I brought my car into NTB with a blown-out tire and two broken lug bolts. I had recently replaced…read moreanother tire and asked them to match that tire, replace the blown-out one, and replace the other two tires as well.The night before, I limped the car into the NTB lot and left the key along with a note in their overnight drop box. I have been using NTB for tires for over a decade. I liked them and trusted them.The next morning at 8:05 a.m., I called and had the work order written up. I was told that replacing the two lug bolts would cost $179. I immediately exclaimed, "Are they made of gold?" The guy ignored me. When I asked again, he said the price included $80 in labor. He had initially left out that the bolts themselves were $50 each, which felt evasive. I could tell he wasn't being honest. I was informed it would take a couple of days. Since I was without a car, I authorized the repair and specifically instructed them to keep the two older good tires.Later that day, I asked my brother (hoping he was available) if he could pick up replacement lug bolts and nuts from the Toyota dealership. He did so, and I spent $91.48 on five lug bolts and five lug nuts--$9.99 per bolt. I biked back to NTB around 2:00 p.m. with the parts. The same employee balked and told me he had already ordered the bolts and that I had agreed to it. I told him to "put them back on the truck." He refused. I then asked him to at least put the bag in the car in case the other lug bolts were seized with rust. He took the bag There were five bolt and five nuts in it. The car was still in the lot and the tires hadn't arrived yet. The next day, I received a call around 4:15 p.m. saying the car was ready. When I asked for the total and inquired about the lug nuts, his story changed. First he said he had replaced three lug bolts and put the other two he had ordered back in stock, claiming they didn't use the bolts they ordered. When I asked for the rest back, he said they had used all of them. He remained vague and evasive. When I picked up the car, paid the bill, and asked for my old tires (around 5:44 p.m.), I inspected the wheels. All five lug nuts on the replaced tire wheel were the new lug nuts I gave him, to hide the fact that only three of the lug bolts had been replaced. I know this because at least two of the old lug nuts would have been usable yet. Two of the lug bolts were stamped on their ends, these were the generic bolts the guy said they didn't use. I checked the other wheels to confirm the new bolts weren't used elsewhere. I also noticed on the receipt that I had been charged a recycle fee for all three tires, including the two I took back--an overcharge of $7.They had used the two generic bolts they ordered (for $50 each) along with one of mine. They kept the four dealer bolts I had purchased. I went back inside to give the guy a chance to make it right. He refused and lied, claiming there were only two dealer bolts in the bag. The math didn't add up: three bolts had been replaced, two of which were the generic ones he claimed he had returned to stock. Earlier he had told me he wouldn't use my bolts and couldn't return the ordered ones. I showed him a photo of the invoice on my phone, but he doubled down. I did get the $7 recycle fee refunded. I was not charged for the bolts he ordered, but they effectively stole four of my dealer bolts and used only one of them plus the two overpriced generic ones. (There was a second employee who cashed me out, but I only interacted with this one guy the rest of the time.) He was short, thin, dark-skinned with a deep tan, and wore a lot of hematite jewelry. I did not get his name, though I believe he was the service manager. At one point he claimed he had done the tires himself, but he went to speak with a mechanic in the garage when I pressed him about the bolts. If he wants to get better at ripping people off, he should avoid targeting customers who pay close attention to details--especially someone willing to bike back with parts from a dealership to save a few bucks on bolts. In total, I was out about $43.16 (less the price of the generic bolts they used) and nearly $50.16 before the recycle fee was corrected. I wonder how much of the rest of the bill was inflated. More importantly, I lost a trusted service provider. Reliable car service is becoming harder to find as the industry continues to descend into the rampant criminality of the last century. I'll have a hard time finding another trustworthy shop. People like me notice when someone is being vague, evasive, dishonest, and manipulative right away and we start compiling our observations as once. update: The DM called me the next day in response to my Google review. he asked what I wanted to make it right. I asked him to pay $50 for the lug bolts that were stolen. He told me to come in and he'd authorize the refund if I'd update the review. I had to deal with the same ass at the counter. They took advantage of me. Why even have the "call me with an estimate" option if they aren't going to do that? They kept my car all day. I even called mid-day and talked to someone on the phone and he never told me the cost of anything, never warned me about cost or talked numbers. He never offered advice about the services I'd requested, like what maintenance was typically done at this mileage. I learned to always request an estimate, to not be naive and trusting. I used to take my car here regularly but now I can't trust them.

I tried calling a couple places that could fix this, C.A.R.S. told me they could, so I had my tow truck drop it off there. It took about a month to get my car back (that wasn't entirely their fault, my understanding is there was a cyber hack that delayed things. Still, it would have been nice for them to let me know that update versus me calling them asking what was going on). Not long after, my car was having trouble turning on. Tried jumper cables, that didn't work. So again, I had my car towed back to C.A.R.S. for further inspection. They replaced the starter. A month later, again, I was having troubles turning my car on and took it back for a third time to C.A.R.S. They told me basically nothing was wrong, my vehicle is in "theft mode" and if I just play around with the key fob, it should work. I found that odd because I never do anything different when I get in my car and turn it on, but ok. From there, sometimes it would turn on, sometimes it would not. I would have to basically hope and pray the "key fob" trick would work. After some more time, that no longer would work and I had to use jumper cables to get my car to turn on. I no longer could trust C.A.R.S. to fix this issue, as I kept racking up charges and my car was never reliable. So I took it to Luke's Auto instead. There, they found my module was completely disconnected. Since I had to jump my car so often, I now needed a new battery. I'm not a car guy, so getting into the specifics on the repairs is above my pay grade. But here's what I can confidently share: Driving (if I could drive at all) my car ever since I took it to C.A.R.S. made my life hell. Between my initial insurance claim and future visits, I spent thousands of dollars to not have a reliable vehicle. Ever since I took it to Luke's, it has been a pain-free experience and my vehicle has been perfectly normal. Had I simply taken my car there back in June, I would have saved so much money and had so much less stress. Not to mention, they came across significantly more communicative and customer-friendly, from their waiting room all the way to their follow-ups.
