I am surprised ROCO has such few reviews, as the place was PACKED when we visited on a Sunday morning. The interior has a retro, diner-like feel. And the location has an attached drive through. You can tell that the people working at ROCO are passionate about what they do. This was one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had; We were lucky to snag a table, but ended up waiting for a member of our party for over 30 minutes. While we waited, our waitress offered us a complimentary donut, which we split between the 3 of us. I'm not a big donut person, but the donut was amazing. The flavor wasn't overly sweet and the dough felt a little undercooked (?) in the best way; The inside of the donut was slightly chewy in the way a hot and fresh croissant might be. The donut was so good that my friend ordered another for herself. And we got lucky; At one point the chef came out and brought us another complimentary donut because he wanted our opinion on a new flavor he was experimenting with (equally amazing). I've never had so many pleasant interactions the staff at a restaurant before; I felt like it was my lucky day. When it came down to our actual orders, the food was just alright. I ordered the migas breakfast taco. I loved the texture of the tortilla, but felt the egg mixture could profit from a little more salt or a sharper cheese. The rest of my party ordered the potato, egg, & cheese breakfast tacos and raved about the sauces. 2 members of my party also ordered a latte and remarked that they wished it was stronger. Overall, I had a great experience at ROCO. It's a great community spot, and you really can't beat the value (half of food items $10 or under). I stopped in recently and the highlight for me was definitely the buttermilk glazed doughnut. It was soft, fresh, and had just the right amount of sweetness. If you go, I highly recommend trying one! The coffee was good, but it's not very sweet on its own. If you're someone who prefers more of a dessert-style coffee, you'll probably want to add some sugar or sweetener. If you like a more traditional coffee taste, it'll be perfect as-is. The space itself is beautiful inside--bright, clean, and really well designed. It's a place you could easily sit and relax for a while. The staff also seemed very friendly and helpful, which made the visit even nicer. I also ordered the breakfast tacos. They were fine, but nothing that really stood out. The eggs weren't as fluffy as I expected, so while they're okay if you want something quick to eat, they're not a must-order in my opinion. ROCO Kitchen + Coffee is a spankin' new addition to Hickory Ridge Shopping Center--and honestly, it's exactly what this area needed. The space is clean, modern, and really well done. The barista station stands out right away--you can tell they're serious about coffee. It's the kind of place that feels fresh but still comfortable enough to hang out in. Coffee-wise, the basics were solid and enjoyable. My daughter reported that the cappuccino was a bit off--but totally understandable for a new spot still finding their feet. The foundation is clearly there. Food was simple and on point. I ordered the Migas--not overly complicated, just well-executed and tasty. The menu overall is streamlined, which makes ordering easy without being overwhelming. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality and location. Staff members - all friendly and welcoming. This place is off to a strong start, and we're genuinely stoked to have it in the neighborhood. We'll definitely be back. read more

I visited Roco yesterday for late lunch. I ordered egg and cheese sandwich and it was delicious. I was surprised they gave me a lot of egg and the way it was cooked was just right, no burnt edges. I also ordered the matcha and was just right. I liked that you can eat in or outside so I took my sandwich and matcha in the outdoor seating. The employees were nice and I forgot my wallet in my car. The person getting my order was so nice that he saved my order until I got back. By the time I got back, my food was ready. read more

As I cafe hopper, I encourage you to try out this new spot. They've hired several staff that are literally waiting for YOU. I was between meals, so I tried the yogurt and it was refreshing. The prices are moderate, my yogurt and drink cost $15. Their bathrooms are gender neutral and the restaurant is bright and clean. Headphones would have helped my focus. Though the staff was pretty quiet, they enjoy working together and it showed. I became distracted, ugh, my work avoidance. I do plan to return. read more

I saw a few posts in a local foodie facebook group regarding this new business. I had to give it a try especially after seeing those doughnuts! Came in the late afternoon on a Saturday and therefore the doughnuts were sold out, bummer but not their fault. I'm honestly glad to hear they sold out, small businesses need our support. We ordered a two iced mocha latte's. Mine was made with almond milk. Both were perfectly made! The service was amazing with two helpful baristas. This new coffee shop in hickory ridge is definitely worth checking out. They have a sit down service side and a quick order counter. Plenty of nice outdoor seating as well. It's a very nice space if you're looking to hang out in a coffee shop. The menu looks basic and the pastry case doesn't look like much, but my latte and donut blew my mind. I think the donut was homemade. It was airy, chewy, and everything you want in a donut. The latte was also good. Just enough foam, smooth espresso, and made well. I wish they had a milk that wasn't whole milk because I do not prefer oat milk, but that's what I got because of the lack of milk options. I can't wait to go back and try more of the food based on the 2 things I tried. The menu is very promising and I can't wait to take my kids to try it. read more

I love that they're using a La Marzocco espresso machine and Alma coffee beans. I'll definitely have to check out that coffee brand. I'm excited to come back and sit in. It's cool get a new cafe in the area. I didn't sit down for the breakfast. I got a latte and a doughnut to go. The doughnut was good but a bit pricey, $3. I'd say the store needs to work on service though, I waited like 30 minutes for my latte....it wasn't even that busy? It's new business, so I'm sure they'll get better. I was excited to try this restaurant however, I did leave rather disappointed. The place is nice and is clean. There is seating inside and outside. The water tasted like it was straight out the tap which I think doesn't usually stand out if it is cold but it was pretty warm. The waitresses were nice and we were greeted promptly. We had ordered the pancakes, 2 lattes (salted maple and caramel), and chicken and waffles. The pancakes were really good. Very fluffy, very solid pancakes. The chicken was good to me, but my partner felt it was a bit salty. It was fried very well. The waffles were okay but it felt overpriced. They just felt like waffle house waffles but more expensive. It only came with one waffle where the pancakes came with three. My biggest issue was the coffee. My latte was straight up salty. I did not taste any maple in it. I thought maybe it had settled at the bottom but it did not. It tasted like they accidentally mixed up the sugar with salt. I was looking forward to the coffee and it was really bad. I should have just asked for another I suppose. I just don't like to be that person. Overall the price came out to be $43. I know with inflation that is just the cost of things but I want my food to at least be good. I feel nauseous thinking about that latte. read more

I saw the building last week while getting groceries and checked their website throughout the week; the food looked promising. This morning, I ordered the pecan waffles, and let me say, it was amazing--better than I expected! The pecan topping that goes on the waffle, combined with their specialty butter and syrup, was divine. I will definitely be back, and I'm going to recommend this place to everyone I know to help it stay around. Another pleasant surprise was that they have a drive-thru. Much better than the other options in the area. I got the hot honey chicken biscuit and brown butter iced latte and my fiancé got the glazed doughnut and the salted maple iced coffee. The food was great. The chicken was moist on the inside and crunchy on the outside and was much bigger than I was anticipating for $10. The doughnut was definitely homemade and delicious. Staff was all so sweet! Cute diner with outdoor seating, pets allowed outside. Donut and apple fritter were delicious. My latte was very good. I believe it was brown butter. We had pancakes, waffles, eggs with cheese. The pancakes were okay, the waffle was great, and the eggs were good but had way too much cheese. Next time I would maybe ask them to put half a slice (or half of whatever they typically use). Will definitely go again though. read more

I came here a couple weeks ago with my family and had a bad experience but didn't leave a review. However I heard about the owner threatening someone who left an honest review, so I'd figure I'd leave mine as well. I was really excited to try this place because it looks super cute and aesthetically pleasing in photos, but unfortunately it was the complete opposite in person. As soon as I walked in, I noticed the entire ceiling was covered in plastic because the roof was leaking in multiple spots. While we were being seated, a drop of water actually fell on me from the ceiling. I mentioned it to the hostess, and she completely disregarded it, which was frustrating. It was honestly really unappetizing sitting there with water dripping around us, with buckets and mops all over the place catching leaks. As for the food, my sausage and cheese on brioche was actually very good. However, my sister ordered wings, and they were extremely small--definitely not worth it. Service was where things really went downhill. Everyone in my family received their drinks except for me. I had to ask four separate times for my latte, and each time it was forgotten--even after asking multiple different staff members. Overall, the service felt very chaotic. Most of the servers seemed very young and inexperienced, and there was an older woman (possibly a manager) who came across as rude and was even yelling at employees in front of customers, which made the environment uncomfortable. This is a brand new local business and we really enjoyed it. The food was delicious and the cost was reasonable. Nice place in the Hickory Plaza behind Giant and well decorated. Was very excited to see this new addition to the Hickory Ridge Plaza, right across from my son's daycare. A group of us Mom's have talked about stopping in together, but haven't found a day to to so yet so I stopped in solo this morning. I was promptly greeted by the kitchen staff and being so new, very little wait time to place my order. I had a question about the a flavor's ingredients and the counter staff was not sure so they asked their manager, who I'm guessing is an owner, to confirm that it was gluten free. I greatly appreciate them taking the time to do so as sometimes I get a flat 'No' or a non-convincing 'Yes'. After confirming it was safe I ordered an Iced Pistachio Latte with whole milk, nothing crazy. It was made pretty quickly and I was on my way. Now, it could be due to the syrup being made in house (or so I'm guessing based on the manager's answer), but I'm not 100% sure that I got pistachio as it tasted more like brown sugar. I'll just have to stop back in another day and try the same thing and compare. There are always growing pains at first, so I'm not holding that against anyone if that was the case.
