This is kind of a must do place in Houghton. The food is good, more than adequate. You are not…read moregoing to call your mother and tell her about it, but you are not going to regret eating here either. The server was friendly and fun. Cool location and college bar decor. Funny name story (Named the Library as a bar so college kids could truthfully tell their parents that they spent Fridnay night hanging out at hte Library).

The interior doesn't retain much charm of the rich history it claims. The service was at a snail pace (we saw tables with more people ate their food and left way before us)! Then there is the mediocre food again we come to learn in Houghton. The Ahi tacos lacked flavor besides the wasabi taste. The shredded coleslaw mix was piled up high to disguise the tiny amount of tuna buried underneath! Husband got the Italian pasta with shrimp. The $3 up charge for burned garlic bread was insane! But again, this is expected in Houghton. You get charged extra for protein and bread when they're usually included in the meal! Guess this is standard in the UP. Overall, this is definitely NOT worth the hype! If you're looking for historic character then you need a different restaurant. Would not recommend it!

It's a fantastic movie--one of Jimmy Stewart's best, and simply one of the best courtroom dramas. The tavern capitalizes on the sensational aspect of the crime and the success of the book and movie, including having a three-ring binder full of photos of the incident, the author, the actors and the film. Staff of the restaurant were kind and welcoming; the food was good and generous portions.

She was very cheerful, let us hang around and check things out, which was a fun surprise. This place fills up fast, so getting a good look at the memorabilia was a treat. The bartender was amazing, basically running the whole place for the first hour. She had a lot of hustle and took care of everyone that came through the door. It was impressive to see and pleasant to experience. I ordered the cod sandwich special and loved it. Not sure what the secret is for those crispy tots; tasty and light and I made all gone. Smokin'Hubster ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and declared it one of the best he's eaten (and he's sampled a'plenty). We didn't linger too long, as it was getting busy as the race finished and participants came in. It was a great stop, can't wait to come back and have some more fun (and great food).
