The wait was short, the instructions were simple, and the ride was longer than I expected. I loved riding through the trees and taking in the beautiful Tennessee scenery along the way. The seats were comfortable, and being able to ride with another person made it even better. The staff was young, energetic, and always ready to help people get on and off the track. Everything ran smoothly from start to finish. If you're passing through the area and looking for something fun to break up a road trip, this is absolutely worth it. I'd gladly do it again. read more

My daughter, wife, and I were driving back to our hotel in the afternoon when we passed Rocky Top and quickly turned into the parking lot to try it out. We had seen other coasters, but this one claimed to be the longest. It didn't look like it from the street, though. After seeing the loading area, my wife bowed out because she was wearing a dress. It would have been difficult to climb into the sled with any degree of modesty. My daughter and I, though, climbed aboard. Everyone gets their own sled. The load operator was friendly and helpful. The sled gets pulled up the hill with you on it. We soon discovered there are multiple climbs and that the ride might be one of the longest. The trip down was super fun and fast. Unlike an alpine slide, it seems very unlikely the sled could come off the track. In fact, in a couple of spots, the brakes are automatically applied to keep you safe. One trip down was good enough for us. They offered a second ride at half price, but we passed. read more

This is my first mountain coaster and it was a lot of fun! We were just driving by, saw it and turned around. At about twenty dollars a ride, with multi-ride and mult-park discounts, this seems a fair trade. I suspect there is a lot of safety items to be addressed in a business like this. The rails were a very smooth ride with the track sending you right and left to make it a bit more exciting along with a couple of tight spins. I found out at the end, if your cart exceeds 30mph the track will 'auto brake' your cart. It did that a few times, so I was going as fast as allowed. The rider gets to determine the speed with hand brakes. Unless you hold the 'go' position (all the way forward), the cart will slow down, so no fear you'll go too fast. There are a few spots where you gain altitude (aka the track pulls you back up) and I caught up to the cart in front of me at one of these points. I just 'braked' there until she reached the top so I was sure she had plenty of time to get down before I sped down behind her. The theme of this ride is an apocalyptic event with military check points and the like. Your photo is taken at a couple of points along the track and you can see them/buy them in the gift shop. You exit through the gift shop. I was unable to take photos on the ride. No hats. No bags. No phones. Just fun. read more

This was more fun than I thought. I am not a roller coaster person. So I was nervous. The staff is friendly and helpful. Once aboard the 'sleigh' you put the belt on and just wait your turn. The wait once in the sleigh isn't too bad. The gear is for acceleration and braking. Which in my opinion I didn't need the brake. So the ride was good. We went at dusk and it was nice. My husband and I did the Rocky Top Mountain Coaster at night, and it was SO much fun. Definitely one of those experiences that's equal parts exciting and "why did I agree to this?" The carts are separate, so you don't ride in the same cart together, but honestly that made it even more fun because we each got our own little experience. Going at night was such a good choice because the lights along the coaster made everything look really cool, and being surrounded by the dark Tennessee mountains added a whole extra layer of thrill. I was fully convinced a bear was going to pop out at some point, so there's that. One thing I really liked is that you control the speed yourself for a good portion of the ride. You can decide when you want to speed up or slow down, which makes it feel more interactive than a regular roller coaster. There are also automatic sections, especially when you're being pulled uphill, where the coaster takes over and you don't control the movement. I had seen some people complain about the ride being too short, but I personally felt like the amount of time was perfectly fine. Since you control your own speed in certain sections, your experience can feel a little different depending on how fast you choose to go. My only small complaint was that some of the automatic sections were a little jerky. A couple of times I got tugged forward against the seatbelt, and because the belt was already pretty snug, it was a little uncomfortable. Nothing that ruined the experience, but definitely something I noticed. Overall, we had such a good time. It was fun, scary, beautiful at night, and completely different from anything else we did on the trip. I would absolutely do it again, especially after dark. read more

How fun! We purchased Smoky Mountain Park Hopper passes, which came with 2 rides at this park. On a Tuesday evening, it took about 40 minutes to get through the line. The coaster route has areas along the way where the ride takes over for you. It'll prompt you when it's your turn to take over again. The first time it stops on its own can be confusing. The ride is exactly 10 minutes start to finish. They light the path at night, so don't worry about being there late. There were plenty of children in line for the ride. Fun, safe for all of the family and its well organized! It was my first time riding something like this. We seen it advertised everywhere. I came with my boyfriends family, his siblings and their kids. When we parked there was a bit of a line. However, the line moved fairly quick. You buy your ticket, stand in line... and the ushers secure you onto one of the coasters. It's great for all ages! If your kid is small, you can ride with your kid. The views were nice and some parts went really fast! I'd definitely go again! The total ride down the mountain is pretty lengthy. I should've wrote my review earlier because the guy told me how long it takes to ride down the mountain.... approximately 10 minutes? Correct me if I'm wrong. But it's a nice ride down. Don't forget to smile when the signs say to smile because they take photos of you along the ride. At the end of the ride, you enter the gift shop where you can see all your photos. The photos were the normal expensive tourist price, but it's worth capturing the moment :) Definitely a "must-do" when visiting Pigeon Forge! read more

I wish I could give this place 10 stars. The first night we went it rained and we got this cool see through cover and then there was lightning so the 4 remaining riders in our party couldn't go. The manager gave us all more tickets to come back another day and when we returned two days later, they gave us each and extra ride and because it was father's day the two dad's in our party got free photos. I've tried most of the coasters in the area except for this one, so I had to give it a try. I believe this is supposed to be the fastest coaster, but I think it's probably tied with the Goats on the Roof one. The ride itself was fun, but there is one HUGE problem. If you get stuck behind someone who has never ridden before or is scared to ride, they can completely ruin your ride. You hold the handles down to go faster and pull them up to slow down or brake. The person two people in front of me was screaming the entire time and was VERY brake-happy because she was scared. Every time she braked, ours automatically braked too, which caused us to jerk. So instead of being able to just GO down the mountain at full speed, we kept having to slow down because she was too afraid to let it go. For what you pay, beware of who you get behind because your entire ride can basically be a waste if the person in front of you is constantly braking. It was also pretty pricey at about $21 per person. The ride was fun, but I definitely wouldn't pay that much again if I knew I was going to get stuck behind someone who was afraid to ride. read more

When I told people we were going on vacation to Pigeon Forge SO many people suggested that we do a mountain coaster, and boy am I glad that we picked this one!! It is advertised as the longest mountain coaster in TN and that is one of the reasons we picked it. It is also located right down the street from Dollywood, which is super convenient. The views were amazing and the track was so much fun. It included 4 uphills and 4 downhills and you really pick up some great speed on the downhills! They have audio playing at the top of the hills that tells you when to push your handles down to begin to pick up speed. We had such a fun time on our ride that we paid $9 each to go on the coaster a second time. Each sled has a maximum weight of 350 pounds, but we elected to each have our own sled and I really am glad we did. This was one of our favorite things that we did on our vacation!! It will be a must do when we come back to Pigeon Forge. read more

This was my family's favorite activity in Pigeon Forge. It operates even during the dead of winter, so if you're visiting when it's cold outside like we were, be sure to bring your gloves and beanies. The wind is biting when you're on a coaster on a hill. This coaster is user-powered for the most part, so you get to decide how fast you go. My oldest child was zipping around pretty quickly, but my youngest went slower. I'm not a coaster person, so I stood on the side and took photos and videos. There are a few places to spectate where you can get some good shots. From start to finish, the whole thing takes about 20 minutes. The actual coaster ride is no longer than 10 minutes -- quicker if you go faster. But the cost is totally worth those quick several minutes. My kids were smiling and wanting to go on it again. read more

This was pretty decent. I would give it 3.5 stars, rounding up to 4. We came here wanting to ride an Alpine coaster after being sorely disappointed at Oberlin Gatlinburg. We had wasted so much time at Oberlin that it got pretty late at that point, so we were grateful for the late closing time. I think the move is coming at night, it's fun the way it's lit up. It was Labor Day Weekend though and it was CROWDED with a super, super long line. Thank goodness for the ceiling fans in the waiting area, but they could use some more. Also thank goodness for the very fun and lively playlist going on, keeping everyone's morale up. Also shoutout to the safety videos playing, there was a lot of legitimately useful and helpful information conveyed there. When it was finally our turn, we got in our carts of either one or two riders. I ended up using the brakes in my cart quite a bit. The safety video said you could pretty much go as fast as you want (so long as you don't bump into the person in front of you), but I very much did not feel safe and like the cart was going to stay on the rails at full speed. I left a little shaken up after the ride. Overall, good experience. Would likely come back, hopefully with a shorter line. read more

I went there the morning of Aug 11 it was great awesome staff. We were told we could come back tonight and only pay $10 a person (there were 3 of us) and we could experience it at night. Fast forward we got there at 8:45 ish bought the tickets got in line then we notice they are taking the cars off the tracks nothing said to the customers then the rain poured down. I understand weather happens however we went over to get a refund ( we are leaving at 6 am the next day. The girl at the ticket desk was rude and said no refunds offered to come back after the lighting they are open till 11 or come back tomorrow we told her we would not be in Tennessee tomorrow she then said well so sad for you then come back before 11. Well we are now in a flash flood warning they never reopened and respectfully I understand why, but they should also respect in this uncontrollable situation it should be refunded since we didn't choose not to go on the ride like they didn't choose to turn us away. read more

Fun Coaster For Kids! This is one of the coasters that let our 36" tall kids ride. It's a great time for the little ones. We rode 3-4 times because my 3 year old son was a little scared the first ride but then was so happy and wanted to do it again and again! I have to admit that I wasn't sure what to expect when we booked the Rocket Mountain Coaster, but I did know it was the 9 minute long ride. I don't think our ride lasted that long as I had the speed control forward just about the entire time. I was glad my astoundingly beautiful lady and I was able to ride the sled in tandem, so we can enjoy it together. We did arrive a bit early from Gatlinburg, so we waited about 30 minutes for it to get darker so we can enjoy the lit up track and we are so glad we did. We were delighted to find the sled does move significantly faster than we thought it would, and was quite entertaining when you build up full momentum. I wouldn't have mind going for a second round but the line did start building up at that point. We highly recommend this one! read more

They offer a first responders discount which was very appreciated on my end. The ride itself was fun,., although I feel like every time I started getting my adrenaline up, I would hit one of the stopping points (waiting a good minute or so before I had some downhill movement again). Wow, wow, wow, Is all I can say for this fun filled attraction located near Dollywood theme park. Coupons are available for $3.00 off per person for your entire group. You can find them in any souvenir book you happen to pick up along the way. My daughter and I came here early evening when it wasn't too crowded. They honored my coupons and we went to ride. She suggested we ride together. She would control the braking mechanism and I could sit up front. Similar to wild mouse bobsleds we were given final instructions and ready for launch. Cute signs and music were along the pull up chains featuring black eur o peeing bears and Burma shave. Yes They even have a bear on top of a small waterfall. At the top signs give you the instructions to let go of the brake and enjoy the ride. This thing is almost like a regular coaster with twists and turns all over the place!! There are 4 mind you 4 lift chains at different parts of the ride and oh yes they do have a sign indicating at what certain point they will take your picture. The two of us had the time of our lives on this-whole ride lasted about 10 minutes. Only instructions are not to "hit" the car in front of you. That's really not a problem until you pull back into the station. The ride empties out into a gift shop where you can purchase your picture from the ride along with hillbilly redneck gifts, Tees, black bear and raccoon souvenirs. Pretty much the usual fare. Repeat rides are $9.00 per person considering the first ride was $15.00 per person with the discount. Staff here is very friendly and helpful. Only thing to be careful is that when you are leaving the premises there is no traffic light and you must cross 3 lanes of traffic if you wish to head back to Dollywood. Husband and I rode on three different mountain coasters while in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area and this one was by far our favorite. This mountain coaster boasts itself as the longest mountain coaster in East Tennessee, "over nine minutes" and it sure felt like it. There are many ups and downs on this coaster, where the other coaster we went on was one uphill climb followed by one looping downward ride. The ride felt quite fast, and I yelped quite a few times. There are two places where your photo is taken, and then they try to sell it to you for around $15 if I remember correctly. We meant to go back at night to see it all lit up, but we forgot to. If we're ever in the area again, we will definitely ride this coaster again. read more
