I kind of feel bad. The last time I was in Pigeon Forge with my children, I declined going on a mountain coaster with them, because they just didn't look like my thing. So my kids went on the coaster and I watched and took photos. Then recently, I was forced to visit Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster for a work trip. It was either ride the dang coaster, or irritate the people who set up the trip, so I went. Holy cats! Alpine coasters are super fun! You kind of feel like you're going to fly off the tracks during the ride, but you won't. It seems safe enough, and the ride goes by so fast (it's definitely less than 10 minutes). Before you know it, you're done and wish you could go again. (I didn't, but I'm sure kids would.) You can control the speed, which is nice. At one point, I was feeling wild and crazy, and let it fly and zipped around the track at full speed. I visited with a small group on a weekday, and there was zero wait to start riding. This was a very fun adventure even for a scary person like me. I purchased the groupon which was a great deal for 2 for $23. I reviewed the pricing upon arrival and it was $14 for kids. Every penny count nowadays so I'll take it. If the child is under a certain height they require them to ride with an adult. *Insert my nerves kicking in about this* I will say it looks more intimidating that it actual is. No big drops and you can adjust the speed as you ride. I built my courage to go faster the second ride but the employee did ask for me to not hold up traffic like previous did! The line is LONG but you can't fault the business for that. It's a decent length and was a lot of fun. The only thing I would suggest is trying to get the bird problem in the queue under control. Maybe getting the area closed off somehow so birds can't nest up there or put down a platform so they can get in but birds can't poop over the people in line. I know it's nature but there was a large area of bird droppings in one area and one girl got pooped on while we were there. read more

What a ride! Great staff all around! It took about 45 minutes to get to the front. It was worth the wait. A nighttime ride was thrilling with lights lining the tracks of the coaster. My mom and I rode together and the two coaster staff were very helpful when it was my mom's turn to climb in coaster car. You climb over 3-4 hills, seems steep as it pulls you until you reach top where there's a sign to tell u to take control. Apparently this is the longest downhill ride in the United States,with over 1 mile of track. We both thoroughly enjoyed the twist n turns of the coaster, using the levers you have control to your speed upto maximum allowed without getting too close to rider in front of you. It lasted long enough, depending on your speed 6-8 mins maybe. At the end when you're ride has concluded another staff member is there to greet you and thank you for riding. She was very nice and helpful as we exited. The picture taken from the ride was too blurry but the souvenir shirt suffices. Checkout Groupon and re-riding options in same day. read more

We initially planned to experience this at night, but the line was long and moving slowly, so we came back the next day. Although the line was still long, it moved much faster, and we waited about 30-35 minutes. You aren't allowed to have your phone -- if you do be sure to put it away in your pocket so it is not seen. Don't do it. While visiting a Gatlinburg my daughter and her family just visited this coaster today, Spring break 2026. While coming down her seat belt came undone after an employee secured her in. She was terrified while riding down the coaster. And no apologies just asked if she wanted to file an incident report. Really?! Luckily she was able to hold on for dear life, until she got to the end. She was not secure, worried the staff is not equipped to ensure safety. The best time to go is at night! I was a tad freaked out because it goes so slow in the beginning and you see nothing but darkness and trees however there are tons of neon lights on the ride. Once you drop, it's pretty fun. If you have a need for speed, don't ride behind someone that doesn't like speed. Our will slow you down too, lol. Ride is about 5-7 minutes long. Saw this unique type of Alpine coaster & it looked like fun, Oh boy, it sure was. Here a few tips to better enjoy your ride. 1- Each person get your own alpine cart, so you can fully control your own speed & braking point nerves, down the long & fast turns. 2- Make sure you don't get behind or loaded into an alpine cart of a person who will slow down your ride experience by them being scared & staying on the brakes going down hill. I loaded in the cart & asked the attendant for lots of space 150' between me & the alpine cart in front of me, so they wouldn't slow my downhill ride. 3- Check local tourism guide for discount coupons. 4- Careful not to loose your sunglasses or cell phone on this jarring fun ride. read more

The coaster is fun but these young teens need to work on their customer service. None of them are friendly and act like everyone bothers them when we walk up to buy tickets. We visited three times this weekend and it was the same grouchy crew the whole time. I am sure they are overworked and underpaid to be acting that way! geeez read more

We rode this coaster for the first time in August 2024 and it was our number 1. After riding again this year, it's still at the top of our list, however it does seem a little different this time. It felt like automatic braking in certain areas when I had the handles all the way forward. Still a really great ride, long lift hill so also a long trip down. Smooth enough ride. We had no wait at all, but we could've just been lucky for going at the time we did, I've seen this place pretty packed. It's off the main strip of pigeon forge, but worth going out of your way for! Seriously, it was a blast. We went as a group, and using the group on app to book was way cheaper than buying tickets there, even cheaper than their group discounts! They have a little shop inside where you can grab some cool shirts or sweaters, and thankfully, it's air-conditioned. And get this before you leave, they have these machines where you can buy pictures of yourselves from your ride! The coasters themselves are amazing they have a great braking system so you can control your speed. It's so cool to be able to slow down when you want to take in the views, or really pick up the pace for some thrills. All in all, it was such a fantastic day! This ride was pretty fun. They say not to bring your phone or camera due to it can be dropped.... but yet don't say anything about your keys. It's really because they don't want people recording. But I did anyways. It can be pretty pricey to come here and we wanted to do more but full price is outrageous. The ride itself was a lot of fun though, pretty fast. OMG....this was so much fun...! We saw that mountain coasters in this area and after checking several YouTube videos about the coasters we decided this would be the best and we were so right. We found some discounts on Groupon that made it even a better experience because it reduced the price of the visit. Once you get that, if you do, get the ticket window and you get on the coaster after. They explain what to do, but in a nutshell you have levers on each side. You push forward to go and pull back to stop...I highly recommend you push forward and go full speed all the way. It was fast and fun and smooth all the way down. read more

While visiting the area, my party of 5 stopped by here around 2:50pm on a Monday afternoon. I found a Groupon online which definitely helped cut down the cost. It wasn't too busy. I first had to check in and get tickets, which was quick and easy. There wasn't a line. Afterwards, we had to get in the line to ride the coaster. There was a little line. While we were waiting, I noticed that the ticket line was line. The coaster ride was 1 mile long and 7-8 minutes to complete. During the incline, you don't do anything. You'll see signage when you need to take control. The coaster was fun and thrilling. I was in a coaster with one of my sons. The downside is that you can only go so fast because you have to maintain a certain distance from the person in front of you. The people in front of us was going Kinda slow, so we couldn't go as fast as we wanted to or we would've risked bumping into them, which is a no no. I think they should increase the distance between the coasters to allow for people to go fast and not be hindered by those going slow. At the end, there will be a photo of you that you can buy. I am unsure at what point they took the picture, lol. However, the cost was pretty expensive and honestly not worth it. Taking a picture of the screen is prohibited. They have restrooms available but they were out of order. read more

We came during our winter break on a Wednesday afternoon around lunch time. There was no line at all! It was a lot of fun and the people were nice, the guy that helped us onto the carts asked us how we liked it after we got off. Thoroughly enjoyed this!!! There are MANY mountain coasters throughout Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg but we went here as it was #1 on Google and it was close by. The wait time was only 15 minutes or so and there was a safety briefing and many signs reminding you to not have any loose articles. It's good for all ages as there was an 11 year old in our group that went alone. It was evenly priced with the others and we also found a coupon that gave us 10 percent off. The climb up through the woods is a great way to start off the trek. Once you get to the top it's all on you as you are in control of your own speed. We went twice. Professionally staff! Grab your ticket at the front booth, get in line, and grab a coaster for a quick ride up the mountain and back down. This moves quickly, so listen closely to the rules and how to operate the coaster. You're on your own once you're going up the mountain, so ask questions if you have them before you go. Affordable and fun for adults and kids. Instead, we stood in line for over an hour and a half just to watch the ride break down repeatedly right in front of us. We counted at least ten coaster carts being removed, yet no one from the staff made a single announcement. Not even a heads-up. Just silence. We watched two visibly overwhelmed employees argue with each other while fumbling with repairs that clearly weren't working. It was uncomfortable and unprofessional. Eventually, realizing it was getting late and we still hadn't moved, my husband asked if we could step out and get a refund--since it was my birthday and we only had a few hours left to enjoy Pigeon Forge. They flat-out refused, saying it was non-refundable even if the ride never works. Yep, you read that right: "non-refundable even if the coaster breaks." We never even got to ride. It broke again and again. So not only did we lose our money--we lost time, patience, and the chance to do anything else fun on my birthday. Total disappointment. Horrible customer service.
