    Rocky Father Pizza

The service was slow and 10 minutes late (pick-up order). The workers were not very friendly, asked my name then just stood around not saying anything else to us while we waited for our order to be done. The food itself was delicious and worth the wait.

Having lived in Madison WI -- where Rocky Rococo first began, we were looking forward to having a Rocky Rococo's in our area. Unfortunately, we were less than thrilled after we dined there today. We asked about ordering a whole pizza but then we're discouraged by the staff at the counter due to long wait time. My husband ordered the "slice of the day" while I ordered another type. I received my slice of pizza but we're told it would be a couple of minutes for his. After waiting more than 10 minutes, and my slice was now eaten, we inquired about his "slice of the day"! We were told "another couple of minutes. I then said we'll take a sausage slice which was boxed, and forget the "slice of the day.". The pizza was just OK--nothing special, and not as good as we remembered it to be. The tomato sauce on the pizza is rather bland--without much tomato flavor at all The manager that was working did apologize for the wait and gave us a booklet of their anniversary coupons. Unfortunately we will probably not be using them.

I feel like I stepped back in time and I was not mad about it not one bit. They have a full size salad bar with excellent topping choices to pair with my drink and piece of pizza. Ordered the #3 meal and was able to eat within 5 minutes. Perfect when you are in a rush its like fast food pizza and I was not disappointed. Huge chunks of sausage and awesome bread. The meal was filling and reasonable in price. Lack of star because the girl taking our order was so confused and her manager made us all feel uncomfortable when she kept telling the girl over and over-- you have the right order just put it in. I would come back.

Our server Dylan was excellent, and the rest of the staff kept our waters filled and dishes cleared. We tried the Vegetariano panini (fantastic) and the Lombardia pizza Bianca (also fantastic). Everything is clearly prepared with intention - the greens on top of the salad were perfectly dressed, and the veggies on the panini were chopped into small, uniform pieces so every bite was perfect. It was hard to decide what to order, so we will be back to work our way through the menu!

It was IMPOSSIBLE to talk to each other. It was so loud, we were basically yelling at each other, the waiter too. Our table was so tiny, it barely had room for our food. What if we had ordered more? Our waiter was super nice and very knowledgeable. However, when he was telling us about the pasta special, we both heard him talking about adding berries to it. But when it came it, we were confused what he was even talking about. The pizza was great BUT only when you eat it fresh. After it got to room temp/cold, all you could taste was the burnt crust. Unfortunately, now that it's off my list of place to try, I probably would not go back. Also, we had to wait 30mins which was fine but a party of 2 who came AFTER us, got seated before us.

Pros: It was open, isn't a chain, has good beer and pizza, cute ambiance, friendly people, and the pizza had a good sauce, good cheese, wasn't oily, had a thin crust, and the aroma from outside smells just like a NY pizzeria, and so does the taste! Con's: While thin and supposedly hand tossed, the crust certainly isn't really New York style. It is missing the chewy (like good bread)) crust around the outer edge of the pie, and it didn't seem quite baked through, although there was a crisp to the bottom. Instead of slicing into triangles with each slice cut from outer edge to the center, they cut it into little squares which means the entire center of the pizza is without edge crust. (In NY, we simply fold the large slices in half and the super thin crust has a slight crisp on the bottom, bends not cracks when you fold it, and the outer thick edge of every slice is a lovely, chewy "grip". Salad was fine. Nothing special, packaged dressing. If I really want pizza next time visiting Sheboygan, I might go again, but I'd order a smaller pizza (or two if we needed that much pizza rather than the very big pie, to assure each slice has a crust around the edge.

However, the fact they do full pies and have stellar reviews meant I had to try them. I wasn't so sure after my first experience as again it's not necessarily the style of pizza I default too. That said it was good enough and very fresh and well prepared. So I gave it a few other tries and I'm now a big fan. For context, I only do cheese or cheese and sausage and will sometimes do extra cheese. Their cheese pie is excellent. I don't think extra cheese is necessary, but I've done it and it's also excellent. The sausage isn't the style that I normally prefer, the sliced sausage, but it too is very good. I tend to go cheese though because even when I ordered "light" sausage it had way too much on the pizza. That seems to be the norm these days though, but for me it overwhelms the rest of the ingredients. I'd rotate between the two, but not sure if I'll get light sausage when I order. Anyway, the pizza is fantastic. Sauce for me is what it makes it, but crest and cheese are spot on as well. I do love garlic bread, specifically cheese garlic bread, and have had both. This has seemingly changed recently, but anytime I've had it it's been good as well. Currently it's more of a traditional garlic bread delivery which is slightly better. They do have two locations which is nice. One is dine-in, but they do accommodate orders if to go if needed. The other is the Uptown Sline Depot which is a to-go location. Both are great and they deliver the same result. The dine-in was packed on a recent Saturday visit and the concept with some craft beers, etc is good. Two things if the owner is listening. Go lighter on the toppings if asked. Second though and more important please expand outside of Sheboygan. You'd kill it in West Bend with little competition which you'd easily best.

If you tell us the wait is 40 minutes and we are seated in 45 minutes, we won't complain. But if you say the wait is 10-15 minutes and we have to inquire about what's going 40 minutes later and it turns out you can seat us immediately, the front of the house management is not doing their job very well. (At least it was pleasant outside and we enjoyed strolling up and down the marina checking out all the boats while we were waiting.) Once we were finally seated, everything was fine. Our server greeted us promptly. Drinks were delivered shortly after we placed our order and the food came to the table not long after that. I ordered the brisket sandwich with a side of potato salad. Compared to BBQ brisket I've had elsewhere I'd give it a six out of ten, not bad but far from the best (but I really didn't expect a place in Sheboygan to top places in Kansas City or Memphis for example). I sampled all their sauces (none of which wowed me) before settling on one that brought a touch of heat to the palate. The potato salad was a tad one-note -- it needed a touch of acid and a bit more texture, I.e. crunchy vegetables. All in all, Parker John's was okay -- but I won't be rushing back anytime soon.

Ratings Overview: * Apple Maps: 92% approval (13 ratings)…read more* Google Maps: 4.3 stars (259 reviews) I visited this restaurant on a Saturday evening and was immediately struck by how empty it was--a concerning sign during prime dinner hours. The establishment has more of a bar-like atmosphere, which could work for some, but it didn't align with my expectations. Cost: * Total: $31.31 (plus a $5 tip) paid upfront--an unusual practice for a sit-down restaurant. Order placed at 6:25 PM. Wisconsin Cheese Curds, Taylor Street Deep Dish Pizza and a fountain drink. Food & Service Experience: Beverages The restaurant has a self-serve beverage station, which is fine in theory, but my experience left much to be desired. I initially chose orange Powerade, only to notice strange specks floating in the drink. I asked for a new cup and switched to lemonade, but this wasn't the best first impression. Wisconsin Cheese Curds ($8.99) I received the curds quickly, which suggests they were likely frozen. The plate contained 18 small curds--comparable to what you'd get at Culver's for less money. Unfortunately, the flavor didn't hold up either. They tasted starchy and lacked the authentic Wisconsin cheese curd texture, more akin to standard mozzarella sticks. Culver's does it better, both in quality and value. 10" Deep Dish Taylor Street Pizza ($14.69 + $5.99 deep-dish surcharge) The pizza arrived at 6:47 PM. First Impressions: It looked unappealing. The menu's photo looked promising , but what I received was burnt-red and sloppily assembled. * Upon lifting a slice, I noticed moisture pooling in the pan--unappetizing and a clear indicator of poor preparation. * The crust was a major disappointment. Thick and undercooked, it seemed rushed in the oven, likely at too high a temperature. It was unenjoyable and ultimately not worth eating. * The toppings were sparse and lacked flavor, except for the peppers, which gave their typical, spicy flavor. Even as a Wisconsinite, I found myself wishing there was less cheese. Overall, the pizza was mediocre at best. At $21, I expected something far superior. Instead, it reminded me of a $10 frozen pizza from Walmart. Additionally, when the pizza was brought to my table, the server handed me a serrated knife and fork with her bare hands. They weren't wrapped in a napkin as is standard at most restaurants. While I'm not much of a germaphobe, this felt like a lapse in proper hygiene and professionalism. Additional Notes: * The square table I sat at was unsteady, making it inconvenient to rest my arms or safely place drinks. * The orange drink I ordered had black specks in it, prompting me to switch to lemonade. Conclusion: The menu claims this is their "famous pizza," but if that's true, I'm left wondering why. Should I have tried the flat crust instead? If this is their flagship offering, it's easy to see why some people dislike this style of pizza. I didn't absolutely hate my meal, but I wouldn't hesitate to throw it away, especially considering the cost.
