I've recently been attending Nuttall's block of the month club, and have been thoroughly enjoying…read moreit! The classes are taught by Denise, who's pretty much a sewing celebrity in my eyes. :) This year's BOM choices are batik and Christmas themed. Denise is so patient in her teaching the entire roomful of quilters, ranging from beginner to advanced. She explains things well and I appreciate that she demonstrates the block assembly steps with a closeup camera on the projector screen. When I go in, most of the ladies and Logan are kind and personable. Sure, sometimes they're busy, and can't really talk, but they're helpful when they have the opportunity to engage. On a personal note, I think some of these negative reviews are unfair and kinda prejudiced.. Perhaps their own sour attitudes have been projected onto these ladies that spend their work days cutting lots of fabric and answering calls. They're not catty or mean, as portrayed in certain reviews. No offense, but it's not their fault that you don't know how to thread your inherited sewing machine. Look on YouTube or consult your manual. It's not their fault if you don't monitor your own machine's warranty. Read your paperwork. It shouldn't hurt your feelings if an employee tells you Nuttall's doesn't sell yarn.

I Love this place. Best selection of fabrics in the area and the ladies are super knowledgeable…read moreabout technique and sewing machines. I have taken a few classes here and they are well done and helpful. I love shopping here.

As the saying goes, collecting fabric and sewing are two separate hobbies. For me, they merge as…read moreone at Sewtopia: home of the most beautiful fabrics at FANTASTIC prices. Sewtopia is a local, woman-owned, LGBT+ friendly shop, located at the southernmost corner of the Cottonwood Plaza complex. Quick and easy freeway access -- just north of the I-215 freeway exit, at 6273 So. Highland Dr. I always enjoy popping into the shop to see what fun new fabrics they have, and I'm never disappointed! Based on all the colorful quilt kits I tend to see them assembling, I'd assume Sewtopia caters to an even larger online presence. While the shop has a small footprint, they're neatly organized, all arranged by color, and packed to the gills with all kinds of rad modern fabrics in all the latest designs, in every color way. The shop exudes coolness. Oh! And along the top shelves, there are hundreds of bolts of cotton solids. They carry every Kona solid color! If you know fabric, you understand how impressive that is. The employees are all very knowledgeable about the various fabric lines and the artists that design them. They're all so friendly and helpful every time I come in. I've heard them call some of the customers by their first names, which I think is cool. Just shows how personable they are! The first time I went in and bought a bunch of fabric, I quickly realized how competitively priced Sewtopia is. I paid {and continue to pay} roughly $1-1.50 less per yard than any of the other local quilting/fabric shops. Their fat quarters cost ~50¢ less than other shops, too. These guys are smart. I can tell that they really understand fabric trends and what's going to sell well -- as a result, they're constantly rotating in new stock, but also maintaining a good supply of popular fabrics that have been sold out elsewhere. I sure appreciate how they rotate fun finished quilts, and all kinds of smaller hip projects at every turn. It's seriously a cool shop, with a neat mural to boot. I feel good shopping at a place that everyone is welcome. It means a lot. Go in, or online, and see for yourself. www.sewtopia.com

I shop online with them and participate in their yearly Galentines mug rug swap. They're really responsive to questions, helpful and very supportive of the sewist community.
