In June, I made a cross-country road trip from Los Angeles to Buffalo, New York, and I specifically went out of my way to visit Sewtopia, along with some national parks further north. It was absolutely worth the detour! The store has a fantastic selection of fabrics and supplies, catering to all kinds of sewing enthusiasts. I loved the variety of unique prints and materials, especially from Ruby Star Society, and their selection of fat quarters was impressive. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to help with any questions I had, including picking out fabric for a couple of patterns. They were so patient! The atmosphere was inviting, making it a great place to explore and get inspired for future projects. It's clear this is a locally owned business, and the owners have truly created a welcoming space for the sewing community. The only reason I'm giving it four stars instead of five is that I ordered additional fabric via their website (it was on preorder), and the two kits I purchased were supposed to ship by the end of September. It was well into the first week of October and I hadn't received any updates on my pre-order for the Halloween and Christmas kits. Despite my attempts to reach out, their phone didn't actually ring, which left me feeling disappointed with their customer service for online orders. I've texted and finally got a response asking for my order number but no further updates after that. A week or so later, my two kits arrived at my doorstep. I just wish there was a bit more communication... Even with that being said, I would still return for in-person shopping and placed another online order that shipped promptly. Sewtopia is a must-visit for anyone who loves sewing, with a fantastic selection of fabric, patterns, kits, notions, and even some fun goodies...all reasonably/competitively priced. I love this cute little shop. My favorite modern quilt shop. I live in California and visit Utah frequently. This is my go to for quilting projects. Shopping in person is amazing, the staff help me narrow down my fabric choices and determine the right amount. It was fun to chat about quilting with the staff. A must visit fabric shop! Amy has curated such a fun selection of modern quilting fabric, as well as so many great bag making supplies. They always have fun canvas I've never seen sold anywhere else. Sewtopia also hosts fun community events like swaps, does cool block of the month quilt kits, and hosts amazing retreats (if you're lucky enough to get a spot!). As the saying goes, collecting fabric and sewing are two separate hobbies. For me, they merge as one at Sewtopia: home of the most beautiful fabrics at FANTASTIC prices. Sewtopia is a local, woman-owned, LGBT+ friendly shop, located at the southernmost corner of the Cottonwood Plaza complex. Quick and easy freeway access -- just north of the I-215 freeway exit, at 6273 So. Highland Dr. I always enjoy popping into the shop to see what fun new fabrics they have, and I'm never disappointed! Based on all the colorful quilt kits I tend to see them assembling, I'd assume Sewtopia caters to an even larger online presence. While the shop has a small footprint, they're neatly organized, all arranged by color, and packed to the gills with all kinds of rad modern fabrics in all the latest designs, in every color way. The shop exudes coolness. Oh! And along the top shelves, there are hundreds of bolts of cotton solids. They carry every Kona solid color! If you know fabric, you understand how impressive that is. The employees are all very knowledgeable about the various fabric lines and the artists that design them. They're all so friendly and helpful every time I come in. I've heard them call some of the customers by their first names, which I think is cool. Just shows how personable they are! The first time I went in and bought a bunch of fabric, I quickly realized how competitively priced Sewtopia is. I paid {and continue to pay} roughly $1-1.50 less per yard than any of the other local quilting/fabric shops. Their fat quarters cost ~50¢ less than other shops, too. These guys are smart. I can tell that they really understand fabric trends and what's going to sell well -- as a result, they're constantly rotating in new stock, but also maintaining a good supply of popular fabrics that have been sold out elsewhere. I sure appreciate how they rotate fun finished quilts, and all kinds of smaller hip projects at every turn. It's seriously a cool shop, with a neat mural to boot. Super disappointed in this store and its customer service. I used to purchase fabric here frequently while I lived in Salt Lake City. Since moving, I've tried to order fabric and have it sent to California. Their website won't allow my online order to be sent to CA and I've made multiple attempts to reach their customer support (phone calls and texts). I've received a couple responses via texts, but have never gotten anyone to actually fix the problem nor answer the phone. They just stopped texting me in the middle of trying to figure out what was going on. I wanted to continue to support the store even though I'm not living there anymore but it seems like they don't care to keep the business or fix the technical issues with their website. read more

I wanted to love this company. I purchased a quilt kit from them online. When I received my kit (great shipping speed!), there was not enough selection of fabric to recreate the quilt as advertised. Additionally, one of the pieces of fabric had a slight defect - I sent a picture, as per the shop's request, and never heard back. Multiple attempts to communicate (both email and phone) with the shop were made with no response. I am so sad, as the owner seemed very kind the one time I spoke with her on the telephone. read more
