I'm a fan of fried catfish and okra and it's pretty darn good eating considering we're north of the Mason Dixon line. I'm someone who tends to only eat certain foods at certain places but it's pretty good here, and the prices are comparable to what you'd pay at establishments that serve the same things. My usual go to is the 3 piece fried catfish and fried okra (fries come automatically), along with a cup of cole slaw. My appetite is usually big anyways, but there are times when I have leftovers due to the amount of food. It's nothing fancy, satisfying enough for me when I have a taste for fried food, and that's what matters.

But oh my god is that chicken bomb. They deep fry the whole check wing so the flat and drum are attached. It's very greasy so if you got a sensitive stomach be careful. They then load it with a homemade dry ranch seasoning that makes this even better Now. It's 3/5 because 1.) I don't like fried chicken much to begin with. Only when I really want to hate myself I want it and this is the spot for it 2.) Service and inside both shit I would really recommend this spot but def a different location, all taste the same

Some of the very, very best BBQ in SW PA! During my husband's and my recent meal here, the employees served us very kindly. We shared a Brisket Grilled-Cheese Sandwich. It had buttered, toasted bread filled with juicy, flavorful brisket and rich, gooey cheese. The brisket is probably the very best brisket that we have eaten in the Pittsburgh area. On the side were potato chips. Some indoor seating was available, but it was filling up with other customers by noon. The total cost for our sandwich was $18 plus tax and tip. We will definitely eat here again in the future.

I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and a side of sweet cornbread. Both items were very tasty. The pulled pork sandwich came in a nice portion. The price was awesome at just $9. They had a great ratio of meat to bread. The bottom layer of bread was completely soaked from the moistness of the pork, though. The meat itself was tender and decently flavorful. Not too fatty thankfully. Their BBQ sauce is very standard and not my favorite, but it did add some solid flavor to the sandwich. The sandwich also has some coleslaw, which is nice. It's already included with the meat. The cornbread was quite good as well. Not too crumbly, but I do still wish it were more moist. I loved the cinnamon butter they served with it! Still warm when I got home from the drive. And so, so delicious with the perfect amount of sweetness. Tasted almost like cake. All in all, I definitely enjoyed this place. Very good meat and cornbread. It's a solid spot that anyone seeking BBQ should try out at least once. Reasonable prices and good portions, too.

1/5 -- Appalling Customer Service and Utterly Unprofessional Conduct…read more Our experience at Hook Fish & Chicken on Pittsburgh's North Side was nothing short of disappointing, and the customer service was even worse than the food. The food was excessively salty, and rather than addressing our dissatisfaction professionally, an employee decided that arguing with paying customers was a more appropriate response. Apparently, informing us that the food was our own selection was supposed to somehow invalidate our complaint. Of course we selected the food. That is generally how ordering at a restaurant works. What we did not select was an excessively salty meal accompanied by an unnecessary argument. To make matters worse, this employee had already hung up on us during a phone conversation before we even arrived at the establishment to address the issue in person. The solution was remarkably simple: offer to remake the food or provide a refund. Instead, we were subjected to a pointless exchange with an employee who seemed more interested in defending the food than resolving the complaint. Customer service is not about winning arguments with customers. It is about addressing concerns with professionalism, courtesy, and basic respect. The complete lack of accountability and professionalism was astonishing. No customer should have to engage in a debate simply because they are dissatisfied with the quality of the food they purchased. An establishment that cannot handle something as straightforward as a complaint about overly salty food has a serious customer-service problem. I would not recommend this location based on our experience. And the person arguing with me was Moe. He is the establishment lapdog. I'm sure they don't pay him enough to treat customers so poorly. He should be ashamed of himselfy.
