My situation was a bit unique. I was in the market for a new car and after extensive research I decided on the new Honda HRV. There are about 6 Honda dealerships in San Diego and because the HRV only came out about a month ago each dealership only had about 3-5 on their lots. I knew exactly what I wanted: HRV EX AWD in Modern Steel. There was a dealership down here which had the HRV EX in Modern Steel, but not AWD. I soon learned, after calling and researching every dealership in Southern California (SD County, Orange County, San Bernardino County and LA County), Honda did not send any AWD HRV's below central California. I spoke with many dealerships from Sacramento area, as well as the ones in San Diego, about getting one delivered to me, but no one seemed to want the commission enough to work with me. That is until I talked to Justin at Lompoc Honda. I noticed online that Lompoc Honda had two AWD EX's, but with no information as they had just unloaded them from the truck. I called and left a voicemail and Justin called me back a day later and I was very excited to learn that one of the two was the Modern Steel color. This was on a Tuesday. I had already test drove one down here, so I knew I wanted the car. We did everything over the phone and though the dealership is closed on Sunday, Justin was able to find someone (Cyndy), to meet me half way with my car. It was a two hour drive for me and 3 hour drive for her. The car was in perfect condition and she also let me test drive it before I signed the paperwork just to make sure. She set up my phone to the bluetooth before she left and gave me a quick overview of the features. It was about an hour long ordeal and I was on my way with my new car! They gave me a very fair price for my trade in and honored my USAA quote even though their dealership wasn't on the car buying service ticket. They have called me a few times to make sure I am happy with my car and have told me multiple times to call if I have any questions. This was my first time purchasing a car on my own and I am happy to report that I did not have the horrible car buying experience that I have heard about. read more

My Honda fit broke down on the 101 near Lompac on what was supposed to be a day trip to Pismo Beach. (I tore my clutch up and it completely failed). I'm from Los Angeles so it was either sit in a 2.5 hour tow ride or get the car fixed there and stay until it was finished. With Easter weekend approaching my options seemed limited. I got it towed to Honda Rocket Town because it was the closest dealer. It was the Friday before Easter Sunday and they did a quick check right away which only took about 20 minutes. I needed a new clutch and a lot of related parts that I had shredded. The mechanic took everything out on Friday and then came in on his day off Saturday to put the new parts in when they arrived first thing. The car was ready by 10am the next day and we only had to stay one night. I have never had such great speedy service from a mechanic. Went there to help a friend buy a car, and get some "options" removed from the bill and buy a car at the selling price. + normal tax and fees. After about 10 min of discussion with the polite sales staff, they went to get the sales manager who after long circles of discussion said they wouldn not remove the dealer options. (One made sense since it was already applied) but they refused to remove the theft tracker they were charging over $1300 for. So long story short, the prices they list the vehicles for are great, however their "as is" price does not include nearly $2700 of products that aren't included and will not come off according to their owner. After we said thanks but no thanks and were walking out the door the owner turned from her office door and said "it's ok we have someone coming to pick it up tomorrow anyway, we held it for you." Regretfully I replied in the same manner and for that I apologize. For everyone else, enjoy their prices, but call and ask for the non negotiable add ons they aren't telling you before you make the trip to check out a good deal that will bite you on the back end. read more

I went in for oil change & alignment. I made appointment online but when called for hour earlier appointment on same day was told I didn't have one? It was confirmed by phone call 3 days before date. Was told at checkin there was a recall too. (Would have rather known about multi check problems than gotten recall done this day). Unfortunately, they finished my car right at 5 pm. When in car ready to leave saw multiple red marks (on my car inspection sheet) I was there for 3hours but they never told me the problems so I could say don't do $100 alignment because it now needs to be done again after tie rod ends replaced. There was also an oil leak we went right back in to ask where? The repairman was already gone.? Again why didn't they didn't tell me while working on my car? I was afraid the repairman would forget if not found out where leak was asap. I emailed service advisor that evening and called next day. Service advisor told me he would get back to me. He said it was oil pan leak and he had to get pricing. Never heard back until I got email from owner saying if can't give good rating contact us. This was over week later. Now says engine leak and alignment needs to be redone?? In the service advisors defense only saw one in entire place on this day. Too much for one person. (That's why I didn't state their name on here) They need to send email or text when confirming appointments They need to tell clients asap when they find problems so you don't have to pay twice or can authorize additional work while there. I hate buying cars. Why? Because I used to sell cars and I know how gross the whole process can be - I hated being on the other end too. It can be a grind. That being said, I went onto Costco.com and they referred me to Ron at Lompoc Honda. Lompoc is far from Santa Barbara especially since we have a Honda dealer here (but they didn't get great reviews). Ron was affable and straight-forward from the start. Not pushy, but encouraging (that is his job afterall-man's gotta eat!) About 3 months after initially contacting Ron, I called him out of the blue, finally ready to pull the trigger on a Honda Fit because it's on so many "10 Best" lists that I don't think anyone can go wrong with a Fit. I initially wanted the LX model, which they didn't have in stock. Ron told me they could have done a dealer trade, but I didn't want that. Ron went over the most desirable traits of the EX with me over the phone and I drove to Lompoc. Ron greeted me right away, took my trade (at the price he quoted me me over the phone) and wham/bam I was in the finance office talking to Susan (?) and before I knew it I was taking the crap out of the back of my old Subaru and loading into the very spacious trunk of my Fit EX. Done. Easy-peasy. Painless and no skeevy car salespeople! Both Ron and Susan were VERY good about explaining all of the little charges and how each number was arrived at, something I thought was very conscientious. Afraid to buy a car by yourself? The telephone quote was reasonable so I drove my Honda to Lompoc for basic service - oil & filter, and transmission fluid change. I went to the shop and 3+ hours later (they lost my keys), David charged me for the service. As I was paying, David said two rear shock absorbers leaked and needed replacement. Charged in advance, I went back the next day. Then Justin told me it is 4 Hours to replace the 2 shocks. I questioned the long service time, but Justin, clearly annoyed, said it is a Big 4 Hour Job. My 2004 Honda Civic has been acting up the past 2 years and after putting $4000.00 into it, The engine finally decides to go out in July. We also had a baby in July so being with one car was not ideal. We decided we really needed a second car and started our search. They only had the LX in stock and so Keith did some searching to find one in the colors we wanted most and couldn't find close enough to trade with in California. We did go over a bit on our budget but with a car that will last another 15-20 years, That slight over budget is worth it. I've had Hondas since 1996 and have always taken them to Lompoc Honda for service. The service has always been stellar but has really declined in the past year. Unfortunately, I will not be returning following the latest incident. I phoned to make an appointment for a simple oil change but no one answered the phone so I left a message. After waiting a few hours, still no return call so I called again and got an answer but was told the service girls were really busy and to try back later. I called again near closing time and still no one answered the phone. I called the next day and, amazingly, still no answer. I decided to book an appointment online although I wanted to ask a few questions before making this appointment which is why I preferred calling. The online system says they will call or email to confirm your appointment time but I never got a confirmation for this either. How can a customer call multiple times, leave messages, book online and not get any reply whatsoever??? It's been 4 days and still nothing. Really disappointing that a business you've been so loyal to and has always been solid has now devolved to absolutely unacceptable service. It shouldn't even be called service as I was never actually given the chance to BE served. I called Honda of Santa Maria and they answered right away and booked my appointment immediately. Super nice and professional! I've received a confirmation email as well as a phone call reminder about my service appointment. Looks like they have a new customer. Still very sad about this. I know going to dealerships can be expensive but save yourself some troubles and bypass Rocket Town Honda. Go to Honda of Santa Maria if you have to go to a dealership. I spent $2,500 at Rocket Town 6 months ago and one of the things I paid for was an alignment. The car is pulling to the right pretty hard which makes me question if an alignment was ever accomplished. When I called Rocket Town and asked if they would do one for free since the last alignment was so recent, the answer was no. Alignments aren't that expensive so I will go elsewhere...but come on Rocket Honda. As a result I will never take my vehicle there again. read more

So, I drove 100 miles to go see a great priced car, but I was told the owner had taken it for the weekend so I didn't get to test drive it. The price was below market, so we talked financials, car unseen. Unfortunately, this is when they told me they install GPS trackers on all of their vehicles and expect you to pay $1,000 for installation of this accessory. There is no reason for this cost to be passed to a customer. And if it does need to be passed on to the customer, just bump up the list price of the vehicle. I would have purchased the car on the spot but they weren't willing to remove the Tracking device or it's installation charge. I'll take my chances elsewhere. read more

Made an 11:00 am appointment for an oil change. Did not receive my car back until 2 hours and 15 minutes later and that wasn't until I start complaining . The lady before me oil change took 3 hours and she had a scheduled appointment. She was told they only had 1 technician. We should have been told " no appointments are honor, it's first come first served" They were so gung hu on trying to get me to change my cabin air filter The car was purchased brand new, 6 months ago, which is hardly ever driven. (owner commutes by bus to work). I understand Lompoc can be quite windy, but this is some poppy cock. My former car I had for 3 year, the cabin air filter was never recommended. When I finally received my car , the strong smell of body odor was unbearable. I had to spray my car with the perfume I had in my purse. Now to top it all off, when the filter was removed, the latch that connects my glove compartment was never hitch back correctly. When you open the glove compartment in order to close it, you had to wiggle the latch until it connected. ( again poppy cock) I took it back to the dealership and ask to speak with the owner or service manager. The manager ( ?) checked it out and at first stated " he would order me another compartment and get it fix (who feels good about having their 6 month old car repaired). He then proceed to wiggle and push on it in until it connected. Now if the service person didn't know how to do that, why didn't he ask someone or tell me to bring it back to have it done. Just closed the compartment back and didn't say a word. NEVER AGAIN, will I EVER take my car or recommend any of my Honda owners family and friends to take their car to Honda in Lompoc. A simple sorry "we apologize" would have went a long way. read more

I bought a Honda, and per their recommendation, I scheduled an appointment to get engine mounts replaced - the operative word here is mountS, as in more than one mount. I schedule an appointment a week in advance and dropped my car off. Nearly 5 hours later, they tell me that they only have one in stock. I asked them why did they waste 5 hrs of my time knowing I needed several repaired and didn't have enough in stock. I'm livid that I had to burn 5 hrs of personal time to get screwed like this. I took my Jeep in again for an oil change and it was just detailed inside and out. When I got it back there was so much gravel and dirt in the drivers side. They obviously didn't put down a paper before conducting maintenance and refused to do a tire rotation because "I need new tires". Then I get there and they say I don't need to rush to get new tires. The electric seat in my 2018 CRV quit working so I took it to Rocket town to be repaired. They said it was a faulty switch and charged me $170. If I wanted to have the switch changed they would have to order the part and they would call me to set up an appointment. I opted to have the car fixed. Six weeks went by so I call the dealership. They said the part had been on back order but that it was now available and they would call me back to set up an appointment. A month goes buy so my wife calls them and they say they have the part and they can do the repair the next day. We take the car in the next day and within a couple of hours they call and say the car is ready. I pay another $170, parts and labor, go out and check the seat and it still doesn't work. I tell them the seat still doesn't work and they try to give me some song and dance that that is how the seat operates. They finally admit that they did not fix the problem and say they will have to do some more investigating. I agree to leave the car overnight. They call me the next morning with the good news that they found the problem and it is in the motor, the bad news is they can't just change the motor but have to change the whole seat assembly at a cost to, me, of $2200. We had another problem with this same dealership when we purchased this car. They messed up the DMV paperwork so badly that it took us three years to get it strightened out. read more

Worst customer service ever in the Service Department. I took my car in for an oil change. Took 2 hours to get that done. When I went to pay they said they had to replace the oil pan bolt, but couldn't tell me why. Then when I asked why it needed an extra quart of oil they said they didn't know, maybe because my check engine light was on. Which I explained must have just happened, being I wasn't aware of the light being on. I asked did they run the code.? She said they wouldn't have done that without asking because there is a code service fee. When asked why they didn't ask me about it their response was, they didn't have time, being my appointment was at 3... it was 5 by the time I got my car back. I knew it only took 5 minutes max to run a code. So after spending $70 to get an oil change, I drove over to O'Reily's Auto Parts. The ran the code in less than 5 minutes and didn't charge for it. DO NOT GET SERVICE HERE!!! Brought my Honda Pilot in for a check engine light and supposedly it had something to do with the transmission. Got it back the next day $330 later and in less than a few hours, all the electrical outlets go out, even the radio. I take it back the next day and Justin, who just saw me yesterday, acts like I'm a brand new customer and makes me wait for service after he finishes typing away on his computer. I tell him the problem and his response is "hopefully it's just a fuse"... a few minutes later he tells me it's something completely different and they'll have to charge me another $150 to diagnose it again even though they had just done that a day ago... it's clear they're hustling people out of their money and causing more problems to bring you back to drain you for even more money. read more
