I recently interacted with the dealerships finance manager for the purposes of purchasing an extended Ford premium care warranty. I live about 90 miles away, but always had a feeling that Vreeland Ford would provide me with great small town service. I must say that I was not disappointed. In fact, I was very impressed, enough in fact, to write this review. Working with the finance manager Jenevieve Strommen was totally pain-free and totally professional. My experience in the past with finance managers has been somewhat less than satisfactory. I always got the feeling they felt they were doing me a favor. This is certainly not the case at Jim Vreeland Ford. I recommend that if you're looking for a new or used car or service on your current car do yourself a favor and try out Vreeland Ford. Dan Vreeland at Jim Vreeland won't allow me to return a leased vehicle to his store because he states there is no room & i should take it to a different dealership when I live less than a mile from this one. According to Ford you can return a leased vehicle to any dealership. I've purchased two vehicles from this store and had nothing but good things to say. Purchased a low miles Mustang GT350 that are known to have engine failures this Ford dealership refused to work on it because they did not want to deal with extended warranty. They want to charge what they charge and extended warranty companies pay what is posted as book time to do repairs and the excuse from Chris the service advisor was that extended warranty companies don't always pay what they want to be paid even though there is a labor guide to abide by and all shops should abide by. Be careful about overcharges coming here. You should probably get a second opinion on repair cost somewhere else considering this being their reasoning. They could've simply have said we can see what the extended warranty company will pay and you'll have to pay the difference which if it is fair then I would pay the difference. Not even that was offered. Makes you question what is being overcharged and what isn't.....?? I called another Ford dealership that has dealt with the same extended warranty and they completely understood the process said they've done it before but now I need to drive 100 of miles north because local dealership just doesn't seem qualified or knowledgeable. Sad but be careful who you have working on your vehicle. Ask how long the technician working on your car has been working on cars. Rio Vista Chevrolet works on my GMC and no questions asked they work on everything and get it done in a timely manner no matter how big of a job it maybe. Not impressed with Ford dealerships so far. Hopefully I'll have a better experience at the next Ford dealership. read more

After looking for a hot new car from LA to Santa Maria (the new electric Mustang Mach E), I landed at Jim Vreeland and I'm SO glad I did. I live in Goleta and have had subpar experiences at my local Ford dealer (sorry but it's the truth) so was more than happy to look around. JV had the ideal vehicle-- frankly I would've settled on color or basically anything else but thankfully didn't have to, what they had was exactly what I would've chosen anyway and waited 12-14 weeks for... Totally lucky on that front, it's not like they had a bunch in stock. Ok this is HUGE, and people like me who have been eyeing a Tesla forever but could never get enthused about anything until this, please take note!!! They did NOT charge a $10k sticker markup (market value price?? ) other dealers tried to. So unfortunate that others would do that because something is new. As JV pointed out, that's not due to actual prolonged scarcity ie something that is only issued at 2 units/year, it's just not common yet. Additionally, JV provided multiple great options (including DEALER REBATE) the other dealer did not. I landed on a lease or own option that was great, and assuaged my concerns about buying the first model year fully. Against all belief and previous experience, buying this car was seriously easy, and all the staff was top shelf. Tyson helped connect my phone and show me around, Lindsey was great in finance dept, Michael was a great contact too and based on my own verbal wish held it for me until I could come later, even though other parties were interested. Easy breezy (in and out in under an hour, by my choice, not rushed), great salt of the earth kind of people. No games!! It was fabulous... Didn't need to take four showers after the experience. Strongly recommend! Also, loving the car itself... I look forward to the beautiful drive to get it serviced. I have an active case with Ford Corporate #CAS44989784 Customer Service Department over a Ford Lightning I ordered through Orchid Houston on 5/22/21. I also deposited an additional $500 on 1/4/23. I had thought about cancelling my order but Orchid asked me to please not cancel the order as they are a small dealership and needed every Lightning they could get. On multiple occasions Orchid Houston assured me they would get $10-15k over sticker and would split the proceeds with me. I agreed. The Lightning arrived and no one notified me. I found out on my own though their website. They sold the Lightning and again I was not notified. I called a total of 8 times with not one return call. I finally called Ford Corporate and the rep who helped me told me she had been doing this for 3 years with 25-35 calls a day and had never heard of this duplicitous situation with a dealer. Ford Corporate forced Dealership Owner Michael Gambonian to return my deposit checks otherwise Vreeland Ford would have kept that too. All I am asking for is to be treated like a human being and this has been the worst retail experience I can imagine. Ford has their hands tied but is very unhappy with Vreeland Ford. I have been advised to hire an attorney and enforce my verbal contract via civil court. Run! Don't walk away from this stealership!! read more

My soon to be 95 year old father bought a 2015 Chevy Equinox from Vreeland in March, 2023. What prompted the purchase was that his Toyota Avalon was totaled when someone ran a redlight and T-boned his car. I mention this because the license plates on the Avalon were "Disabled Veteran" plates and, as a 94 year old, disabled veteran, he was entitled to receive the same type of plates on his (not so) new car. I live four hours away from my dad and he lives alone. But I could tell from the first text sent to me by "Diana" that she (the salesperson) was totally working my dad. He bought the car, probably because of Diana's "charm" and her stated "love" of my elderly father. OK; So they took advantage of an old man and sold him a stripped down SUV and a three year service contract for another $3K making the total amount he paid an outrageous sum for an older, stripped down, Chevy. But that's not the worst of it. It took almost three months to get the plates for his car and when they arrived, you guessed it; they were regular plates and not "Disabled Person" plates. I happened to be visiting my father when the plates arrived and I called Vreeland right away to tell them about the problem. They acted charming and friendly and apologized for the problem but said that they had to wait for their "DMV person" to come in on Thursday (this was Tuesday) but they would take care of the problem. I told them that would be fine. Thursday comes around and the lies and dodging of responsibility began. The first excuse (to do absolutely nothing but tell me that my 94 year old father needed to go to DMV and "sort it out" himself) was based on the statement that his existing DP plates had been reported "lost or stolen" and he would have to get a certificate from his doctor and go to DMV to get new plates. Since he actually had the old plates, they suggested taking them to DMV with him. I pointed out that the old plates were attached to a car that had been totaled, in the DMV system, but that has nothing to do with a "new" car and it's plates. They insisted that "their hands were tied". I went online to the CA. DMV website and found the form needed. I told them the name of the form and that instead of checking the box for "transfer" of the DP plates, they should simply check the other box to assign a DP plate to his new car. The instructions clearly state that an MD Cert is not needed if he had DP plates before. Again I get stonewalled and a new lie. This time the lie was "our hands are tied because he is a Disabled Veteran and not just a Disabled Person". Again they insisted that he has to go sort it out himself. I took the ten minutes or so, after gathering all of the VIN information etc, and filled out the form, which clearly states if he had a "Disabled or Disabled Veteran Plates" he does NOT need an MD Certificate. I put the application in the mail today. I fully expect him to receive the proper plates in the mail but, if he doesn't I will update this review. In the mean time, the take-away is this. If you read other reviews you will see a pattern of deception and an indifference to customer needs after a sale is made; Even if the customer is a 94 year old Disabled Veteran with a weak heart. You will see that this dealership lacks the needed expertise to do a job properly and they "circle the wagons" to protect their inept workers at the expense of the customer. This is truly a "buyer beware" situation. If they seem a bit too charming be on your guard. After the sale you are nothing to them. It doesn't matter how old or what your status. They literally won't give you the time of day (or in this case, another ten minutes of DMV work) to get the job completed properly. read more

I called a handful of dealers last Sep ('22) to place a Maverick order - only Jim Vreeland would take my order with $0 over MSRP. Well worth the short drive. Tyson was great to work with on my order and getting my Mav. No BS, no markup or any upsells. Easy in and out on the pickup day - very easy to deal with the paperwork too. We'd been looking all over for a truck and we saw one that seemed to be a fit with what we were looking for at Jim Vreeland Ford in Buellton. My husband called and spoke to Andy in their sales department. Andy either had immediate answers to all his questions or got back to us with answers right away. We made plans to see the truck that afternoon. Andy had the truck ready for us to take a test drive. Honestly, we weren't planning to buy the truck for another month or so- we weren't in a hurry- but we felt so good about our experience with Andy and Jim Vreeland that we went ahead and wrapped things up and took the truck home the next day! Everything went so smoothly with both sales and finance. We even had some questions after we brought it home so we brought it back the next day and their service department took care of us immediately! I've known Jim Vreeland has a great reputation for both sales and service for years but now that I've gotten to experience it first-hand, I can't imagine having gone anywhere else. Stay away. Spent $500 and the car is more broken than it was when I drove in. I scheduled a transmission diagnosis for 9am a week before the date. I arrive and an hour of waiting later, they said it will take until 4pm to see what's wrong! Why have me schedule a time and not actually look at the car until the end of the day? All they had to do was plug into the car with a fancy machine that I didn't have myself. When it was finally done, they fixed a clutch activator since it was "causing the error". I didn't even get out of town before the car had the transmission warning light on. So they kept it overnight and called me the next morning saying it will be $3000 to fix the clutch assembly. Now I'm $500 short from the first "fix" and still have a broken car. Absolutely the worst dealership service I have ever experienced. read more

Very Poor Experience At Freeland. I bring in my 1998 F150 for some engine trouble. It kept shutting off on me. Vreeland was the closest and I originally got it from them. When dropping off my truck, they could not find out what the issue was. However upon them tinkering with the truck, it would not start. I thought that's weird, I DROVE the truck in to get it worked on and now it would not start. After much complaining, they agreed to pay for the tow to get my truck home. Subsequently, I figured it may be time to get another truck. So I speak with a sales agent to tell him exactly what I want. Oddly enough he didn't listen to anything so said and kept pitching me on a $52,000 truck I didn't want. My experience of them is that they seem to be more interested in selling than service. read more

I was in Buellton, visiting from San Diego. On Sunday my F150 developed a whinning sound from the rear end & I was concerned about returning home as planned on Monday morning . I meet Rick when they opened @ 8am Monday & explained my predicament . He road tested my truck then asked Mike to do another road test & confirm his findings. The differential had bad bearings.
