Very helpful and very polite. They did very good work on my 2018 bmw. And got it done in a timely manner.

I can't recommend this auto shop enough. From start to finish, every experience has been outstanding. Jim and the team, Chris and Alexis, are incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and most importantly, trustworthy. The work is always done efficiently and at a fair price. It's rare to find an auto shop that genuinely cares about their customers, but this one certainly does. This is the best place in Lompoc. read more

Hodges Automotive - Auto Repair Near Me - Lompoc, California

After moving to the central valley in December of 2024, I started looking for a reputable and trustworthy shop to take my car to. I came across Hodges and decided to leave my car in his care off of a gut feeling. Speaking with his daughter over the phone and meeting Jim when I dropped off my car removed any concerns I had. They were professional, personable, knowledgable, polite, and a pleasure to interact with. He took the time to listen to what I had experienced and called me to let me know what he had found before beginning the work. I have taken my car back over this past year and will continue to do so because he is upfront, and honest. I never felt like he was trying to get one over on me, or that I was over charged. He as delivered on what he said he would do, and I have not had any further issues after leaving his shop. If you want quality results and to be treated with respect and dignity... Hodges is your man. And no, Im not a bot. Since Jacob F thinks only bots are leaving 5star reviews. read more

Jim does good honest work. Also his daughter who works the front desk is super sweet and helpful.

Super friendly and professional! Had poor experience with previous company. Will continue going here with all our vehicles from now on!

The worst shop in town!! Should've looked at some of the other real reviews, these 5 star ones are either people who couldn't do more than pump gas or fake bots to push up reviews! Most expensive code read youll ever get! Oh and then they'll probably tell you to replace something you dont need to for $$$$. The most greedy mechanics ever!! Literally like some people said same price as a dealer, probably more! Poor service and the highest price possible. Hahaha look at the owner responding to help reviews defending his business and tactics!!! Thats how you know your customer service is . Keep talking Jim,looking good! Lol I wouldn't trust this place to do anything. read more

Hodges Automotive - 300,000+ miles - Auto Repair Near Me - Lompoc, California

I have taken all my vehicles here and they have always been pretty upfront and honest with me about whether or not the car was worth fixing or if I should sell it as is or other repairs and smog is cheap as well. JIM has always been really good and kind and breaking the news to me I've got another POS LOL! I recommend this business to people who are not able to pay dealership costs and want personalized and accurate estimates And in comparison to any other place I've brought in my cars even my Audi and BMW, as well as a Mercedes i Support small local businesses and go To Hodges because they are trustworthy and aren't outrageous in cost. Not only have they worked on all of my European vehicles, they also took one off my hands that saved me completely from a lot of wasting of my last little savings of money left. I highly recommended if you Don't want to Dealership or somewhere else to BS And ultimately significantly raising the price of your cars issues thanks again Hodges!!! read more

This place has been awesome for me! They've replaced my old cars catalytic converter, changed the oil in my cars, checked out my cars before road trips, and have just overall been a life saver for mine and my husbands cars. They're super kind, helpful, and they've always been great on prices! I'd keep going to them for all my car needs if I didn't move to a different state haha. read more

This is the most deserving company of a five star rating! Not only are they fair and honest but they are very knowledgeable and professional. Jim kept me informed at every turn about what was wrong and how much it would cost. My car had other mechanics scratching their heads, but Hodges figured it out and was able to get my car back on the road. I know most single or elderly ladies worry about taking a car to a mechanic, but believe me when I say ladies take your vehicle to Hodges Automotive and your car will be in good hands. I'm retired AF, and have brought my vehicles (Honda, Acura and Nissan) to Jim at Hodge's Automotive since 2004. PROS: Jim has integrity, is professional, and he and his team are very friendly. Service is excellent, and on the one occasion I had a problem w/ some work performed, Jim took care of the re-work w/ no hassle or extra costs. Scheduling is efficient CONS: Get the feeling they could use another full-time employee read more

Over the past year I have taken my Mercedes to Jim at Hodges. He has always been very honest and treats his customers with respect. He does a great job at a reasonable price. He explains in detail what needs to be done and offers solutions to work within your budget. He also keeps his word, a true man of integrity. I highly recommend Hodges Automotive. Thanks Jim, you're the BEST! read more

I have plenty of experience dealing with mechanics and auto repairs - over 60 years! Hodges Auto repair is by far the best and most honest one I have dealt with. They will go that extra distance to make sure your car is fixed professionally and at a reasonable price. They are also genuinely concerned and polite in all facets of the process. Another great attribute .... there not afraid to work on odd or unpopular cars. Many mechanics will only work on what they are familiar- not Hodges. Hodges is the BEST!!!!!! Thanks for all the help! Went to see these folks last week when I needed to smog my SUV. I called them first to ask what a smog test cost (59.95 OTD) for a 2000 Infiniti SUV. As a female, my heart would sink anytime my car needed to have repairs done to it because I wasn't sure if the place I was going to take it to would see me, jump to the (correct) conclusion that I didn't know squat about cars, and then rip me off for unnecessary, expensive repairs that any self-respecting guy who took auto shop in high school would know better than to authorize! I fear no more. Jim is an honest, trustworthy, upfront, reputable professional. He will tell you in a no-BS manner what is wrong with your car, what needs to be done to fix it, and how much it will cost. I would never take my car anywhere else in Lompoc and have referred friends and family members to him many times. His staff is friendly and very customer service oriented. I have NEVER had a problem with the work done, and am very impressed with the efficiency and quickness in which my vehicles have been repaired. Thank you Jim and the staff at Hodges Automotive for always doing a great job! read more

What great service! I feel very safe with the repairs done on my car! for months we had a horrible buzzing and beeping sound ever time we started the car up, it got worse and stayed on while driving. Jim K. at Hodges is great. We've been taking our cars to him for the last 15 years or so. I've never had a problem of any kind. Jim is patient, professional, and friendly. He always remembers me, even though we rarely use his services more than once or twice a year. He will give you an honest estimate, schedule your repairs, get the work accomplished on time and then explain what he's done for you. You can ask him questions via email or just stop in to schedule a necessary repair. This guy is honest and his work is top notch. Highly recommended. read more

Took my pick up truck to Hodges for a smog check. I'm new to the area and, after reading such positive reviews, I thought I'd give them a shot. My truck is 25 yrs old, so I thought for sure an automotive shop would use that as an excuse to "add on" repairs. First, when I walked in Jim could not have been more courteous. I was taken almost immediately. The test was very quick and my truck passed with flying colors. Jim found a bent part under the hood and took the time to fix it at no charge. He also took a quick look at everything else there and said it all looked fine. I am very impressed with the shop, and especially with the service I got from Jim. Will definitely be taking all of my car and truck service needs in the future to Hodges. read more

My husband is a mechanic and works on our collector hobby cars, but we took my modern Subaru to Jim at Hodges for smog and several other things that needed specialized tools. When the car holed a piston, we took it to Jim to assess the extent of the problem. Problem was huge, and Jim removed the engine, sent it to Rural Machine for rebuild, and re-installed the engine with a new turbo and replaced all necessary parts. We were very pleased with the results. We had one problem with the radiator and Jim quickly went beyond the call of duty to fix the problem. Between Jim at Hodges and Gonzales at Rural Machine, the Subaru is back on the road and running better than ever, and we did not have to take it beyond Lompoc for the repairs. Great customer service, good communication, honest. read more

Took my truck in for break inspection Jan. 2011. Turns out the last company to install my breaks did them incorrectly (didn't use the calibration tab), and reason why the breaks would grab or squeal. My rotors became partially warped. Hodges Auto, instead of going the easy route, machined the rotors, to save me money, and installed new pads and in doing the job, ended up bleeding the breaks and doing a complete service for no additional charge . My breaks on my truck never performed better! I couldn't be happier! read more
