Any issues with your vehicle, you are able to call and leave a message with his front desk, and will receive a call from Jim the same day. He is helpful and gives you tips and options. I have a project car that i thought was gonna be fun and easy fix boy was i wrong!! older vehicle 96 tahoe to be exact and engine needed to be rebuild and went from fun to nightmare! first mistake was trying to do it myself and ok i'm not a mechanic haha. second mistake is i took it to different shop had vehicle for over 3 months and yes they put it back together but wasn't running right and was treating like crap for me being upset for paying over 1800 and not being repaired correctly!! Took my pick up truck to Hodges for a smog check. I'm new to the area and, after reading such positive reviews, I thought I'd give them a shot. My truck is 25 yrs old, so I thought for sure an automotive shop would use that as an excuse to "add on" repairs. First, when I walked in Jim could not have been more courteous. I was taken almost immediately. The test was very quick and my truck passed with flying colors. Jim found a bent part under the hood and took the time to fix it at no charge. He also took a quick look at everything else there and said it all looked fine. I am very impressed with the shop, and especially with the service I got from Jim. My husband is a mechanic and works on our collector hobby cars, but we took my modern Subaru to Jim at Hodges for smog and several other things that needed specialized tools. When the car holed a piston, we took it to Jim to assess the extent of the problem. Problem was huge, and Jim removed the engine, sent it to Rural Machine for rebuild, and re-installed the engine with a new turbo and replaced all necessary parts. We were very pleased with the results. We had one problem with the radiator and Jim quickly went beyond the call of duty to fix the problem. Between Jim at Hodges and Gonzales at Rural Machine, the Subaru is back on the road and running better than ever, and we did not have to take it beyond Lompoc for the repairs. Took my truck in for break inspection Jan. 2011. Turns out the last company to install my breaks did them incorrectly (didn't use the calibration tab), and reason why the breaks would grab or squeal. My rotors became partially warped. Hodges Auto, instead of going the easy route, machined the rotors, to save me money, and installed new pads and in doing the job, ended up bleeding the breaks and doing a complete service for no additional charge . My breaks on my truck never performed better! I couldn't be happier! read more
