I would like to start off by saying that my wife and I have been Credit Union members for years. We have interacted with quite a few of the Credit Unions employees for a variety of reasons. All have been patient, kind and knowledgeable. We recently had the good fortune to meet Relation Specialist, Alfredo Uribe. Last week we discovered that someone was fraudulently taking money from our checking account. We contacted Mr. Uribe and and he patiently worked with us over several days to resolve this issue and to have our funds returned to us. We would like to compliment Mr. Uribe for his outstanding service, patience and personal involvement with trying to reassure us that all matters were resolved. Another rude interaction with these employees along with another employee giving a rule that was different from the last time we called, and we had previously confirmed that this is not a rule. This place is by far the worst bank. It really just feels like each employee believes they are the one in charge and it's always the mean ones making you jump through hoops because they don't wanna do their job that day. The date is 01/27/2025 and around 4:30pm My Husband went into Coastal Hills to get quarters for laundry and cash out of his account. The teller refused to give it to him and her explanation did not make sense. No one else helped him. I had to go in the bank to help him and call Vons credit union members service, she still didn't fully explain the whole problem. Getting a different bank. I opened a certificate and when it matured they renewed it for 10 months at a dirt cheap interest rate and will now charge me a fee for early withdrawal. The branch manager assured me the acct was safe and not to worry! (he was not married) well it happened as I said it would and they fell for it . They excepted false paperwork. I changed addresses. They sent me a change of address form. I called Virgina and asked her to verify she got the form. "Yes," she said. I waited and waited for my pink slip. I called Virginia. "What address did DMV send it to?" The old address, in so many words. Silence fir a moment, "I sent the change of address form!" "Go to the DMV." Incompetent. Waste my time. Ad momonym insults? The absolutely wost financial institution out there, closed my checking account without notice and then when I tried to get money out of my share account ran into too many excuses to list. Have to drive 100 miles round trip to get my money. They had to check if a branch would have $7000 available. You cannot use a debit card to withdraw money from your account, really are they operating in the real world. All I can say is avoid them like the plague. They are a schlock operation that needs a deep review by the regulatory offices and then placed under the control of a more reputable organization. read more

Coast hills sucks!!! my sister in law had fraud charges from her Debit account! coast hills refuses to refund her money and says that who ever used her account had her email address phone number as well as her home address. My sister in law called the business the charges came from, and they were able to pull up the purchase, they informed my sister in law that the email address phone number and home address were not the same as my sister in laws!. Coast hills blatantly lied in order to not have to refund the money! read more

So after setting up my online account to make my payments for my car loan it suddenly stops working after about the second time I made a payment with my linked bank info. My online account suddenly say no loans available and would not let me make a payment on my account. Or that their was no information available at this time. I called customer service support and she said that my account was in good standing and their was nothing wrong with it but to expect a call from a online technician to fix my account.. why do I have to talk to a technician? During working hours it's their job to fix it so I can pay them.And if I try and make a payment over the phone they charge a whole 15$ for a phone fee. That's ridiculous at my store we charge 1.99 for phone transactions that's reasonable but not 15$ read more

I've been a member since 1983 but these people have driven me away with their absolutely terrible, horrible customer service. They didn't used to be this way, but now every day they find one more way to be an obstruction to my access to my own money. Today I'm was trying simply to get my own interest rate on my Platinum Rewards credit card, and BION after being cut off once and then referred back to their basic C/S phone pyramid, I'm still trying to make it through their byzantine phone system to get one simple answer; which by the way you cannot access on your own account page on their website either. Prior to this incident I'd found out the hard way that they won't maintain more than one address in their system. Very unproductive for those who live in rural areas with a P.O. box, because there is no mail delivery, and most unproductive for a credit union with an office on a military base; Vandenberg AFB, CA. What company supposedly catering to military members and families does that? You give them your P.O. box because that's your billing address. You lose your debit card and they want to send it two weeks later by mail. Your bills are coming due in three days and they're all on autopay from your account at CHFCU - so they won't get paid because your lost card is already suspended and you won't have your new card for (....?). They say they can't expedite it to your house because they only have your P.O. box address. The only way you can change that status is to permanently change your address there to your home address. So, ok, did that. Two weeks later still every time you call, "C/S person number XX" assures you that it ^will be^ shipped soon. You can't contact any of them twice because you get a new one every time, *and* when you ask for the previous one by name you get "No one by that name works here." (Fake names). Finally days later, someone in a totally different location has the "agency" that all others have denied, to call the right people in their company and get the card next-day Fed-Ex'd to your house. What everyone else said was absolutely, totally and completely impossible. Please to note: THIS is how they treat customers who have had their account there longer than most of them have been alive. The load is under my husbands name wanted to make a payment and I was having issues because we had one payment behind. I went to pay they told me your husband needs to come in I was so mad made me Waite 30 minutes and could do the payment. Second time I went to the bank waited 1 hour to make a Payment asking everyone for permission so I can do a payment. Hello this is 2023 update your stuff. I went in to make some changes to my savings account and he treated me very poorly, he degraded me and made me feel very stupid. He did not address my concerns, he refused to have someone else help me. I ended up closing my account and left in tears. I really hope this doesnt happen to anyone else. Worst customer service ever. I've had ongoing issues with my visa account from CH and their autopayment system reverting back to withdrawing money from my old CH checking account. Talked to multiple agents on the phone and going to multiple branches. The agents always say that this issue needs to be reviewing by a branch supervisor or manager and nothing has been resolved. I finally switched over to another bank and went into CH to provide my new bank information to be able to make my payments to my CH visa credit card, completed a paper auto-payment form. Up to this date the auto-payments didn't start they kept on reverting back to my old CH account. Talk to a nice lady today over the phone she saw all the notes of the ongoing issue, she gave me hope and said that Eddie would call me back. When Eddie called, he was dismissive and unwilling to hear me or help me. He was rude and treated me like crap. DO NOT OPEN any accounts with Coast Hills! they don't resolve anything, they waste your time, they can't acknowledge that their online portal has issues, and they will always see you as the problem. read more

I wanted some information about opening a business account. first of all,on the phone there were NO choices for that and no choices to speak with a person. then after five calls when I finally got through to someone I was told I needed to go into the bank. I replied saying I wasn't trying to open the account, I simply wanted to ask some questions about the process. I was told I could find information on the website! I became a member 2 years ago to take out a HELOC because they had good rates. The woman helping me was very nice and always answered my calls. First issue: It took forever (~2 mo) to get the HELOC even though I had excellent credit (greater than 820) and more than met the minimum LoanToValue ratio. It took so long that I had to take an interim loan from my IRA to pay the contractor working on the house. Second issue: Every time I go into the branch, their staff is befuddled when I ask the simplest of questions, such as "Can I pay the HELOC monthly payment directly from my Bank of America account?" After checking with everyone from the other head teller to the branch manager, they finally called their headquarters to get the answer. At the time the answer was NO, you have to pay from B of A to your Coasthills checking account and then have a withdrawal to the HELOC. The transfer is exceedingly slow. This is 2023 and it should not take as long as it did 5-10 years ago! Final issue (for now): The website is confusing and essentially a joke. It's not intuitive at all and uses banking acronyms in places that only 25 year olds understand. If I had it to do over again I would have paid a bit higher rate for a better experience at a different bank. read more

They are thieves! They refuse to comply with their own loan terms. They are continuing to charge PMI insurance long after my LTV reached 80% of original appraisal. That is when I agreed to pay PMI through. Now they are adding charges to comply with the original terms of our loan. Stay away, They are thieves! The worst customer service. When I call I've never had a good experience on the phone with them. I would end up having to go in to the Orcutt branch and what Lompoc tells me they can't do, Orcutt can do. I had to call today and the young lady on the phone was accusing me of things I did not do, put me on hold then came back on the line to accuse me some more. She refused to help me. I hung up, went into the Orcutt branch and explained the same situation and with understanding and without hesitation took care of my needs and apologized for my call to Lompoc. The frustrating part, it could have been fixed over the phone but the rep just didn't want to hear the situation. read more

I was with Coast Hills most of my life starting back in the 1980s and I always loved the institution. I enjoyed the easy online transactions and they were always good to me in many ways. But. During the pandemic, I ran into hard times. Because of a financial roadblock with no other options, Coast Hills "restricted" my online access and put me into collections and I have been in this status since 2021. I am unable to see my accounts and important loans. Since 2021, I have not been able to see my overall financial picture that Coast Hills holds and unable to see my loan status online and therefore have been blindly going about just paying every month what is due without seeing interest charged, maturity dates or invoices sent to me. I have to call every month to see what's due on one of the loans. The financial roadblock was back in 2021. As of the writing here today, they are still punishing me by "restricting" me over two years later. I have to stay a member in order to come in and pay the loans due every month. So, I stay in "collection" status even though it's been two years and I have never been late on payments since 2021. I have been asking them to please let me see my accounts. But they continue to tell me no. I have asked to talk with supervisors. Still, the answer is no. The stress is overwhelming. read more

The worst credit union ever! You cannot make a payment to your loan online unless you have a checking account with them. Every time I call to make a payment with them (once a month), I'm on hold for at least an hour. Today they hung up on me after being on hold for that long.They charge you $15 to make a payment over the phone, which you are basically forced to pay since you cant make a payment online. So I've be been with this credit union since my first job at 14 years old. They went through a few name changes and it's funny how each time it was changed the service got worst. The last straw was when my PayPal account got hacked. PayPal off the bat recognized it as a hack but this establishment gave me the third degree and wouldn't help me until PayPal actually did a conference call and argued with one of the supervisors for over an hour. They were finally convinced that by PayPal it was fraud but the next day they called and made me jump through hoops to get "temporarily " reimbursed". Once again I was given the wrong information and the right person finally told me what to do. At one point one of them hung up on me and the manager said she'd look into it but once again to no avail. That's when I decided to go forward and close my account. It was a hard decision as us Lompocians are very sentimental. Even closing my account was an ordeal and no one even asked why I was closing my account even when I left a message on the managers phone it's been over a month and no contact. And I think they even shorted me when they sent me my final check. Lompocians don't think you are stuck thinking you need this credit union. If you have any ties with military be it active, retired, a family member you can always go to a bank that starts with a U and ends with an A. I feel so strongly about this I'm going to the BBB in this. Good riddance to bad rubbage. read more

Don't expect coasthills to be on your side when it comes to disputing a transaction. I ordered something from a merchant which I waited patiently for 1 week to receive, I sent an email after the 1 week was up and the merchant never replied to my email or answers their phone during their business hours. I reached out to coasthills about this and they tell me "we recommend you dispute the transaction with the merchant." What's the point of having a bank account when you can't even trust a bank like coasthills to protect your money from fraud! This is not the first time they told me this, the first time it was an overseas transaction and they let the $&@;:534ers have my money and the item that was supposed to sent to me. I'm waiting for all my deposits to go through from my college and I'm closing this hell wagon account. read more

I do not recommend CoastHills. We have been with them for over 30 years and they continually put holds on checks we deposit. We have NEVER over drafted our account but recently they are holding half of one of our deposits for 8 days even though the check cleared our other bank in 1 day!! CoastHills has done this to us many times over the years. They even put a hold on my husband's paycheck one time. I DO NOT recommend them for anything and as hard as it is I am finally moving away. The customer service is horrendous, the locations are awful and they will hold your deposits for as long as they possibly can every time! read more

Guess I should have read the reviews before switching from Mechanics Bank after 30 years. I use PayPal a lot and inputted my account using my checking acct. Money got pulled from the share acct instead causing 2 nsf fees of $64! OUCH!! Called CH and Jacob had me check my PayPal acct to verify the acct #. He thought I might have input my savings acct. I told him I'm new and didn't know what my savings acct # was. All I had was the # on the bottom of my check. They said there was nothing wrong on their end and I should go to PayPal. Why should I do that when I already verified that PayPal has the correct acct # and it was CH who charged me the fees?! They refuse to refund my fees even for the sake of customer service and has over $12,000 in my cking acct! I should really give a lower rating but I gave them 3 stars bc I haven't been with them long enough to evaluate the rest of their services. But I am looking into other banks to move my money. read more

I have been a member at Coast Hills since 2004. It seems like it keeps going downhill as time goes on. The online banking is outdated and more an inconvenience than anything. I recently called to make a payment on my Coast Hills credit card and they charged me $15 to do it over the phone. I can understand $3 but $15 is crazy. The only reason I gave two stars is because my of most recent experience. A girl named Mikey helped me and was seriously so helpful and cheery it was like a breath of fresh air after my last few experiences. I would say she is one of the very few positive things I have to say about Coast Hills. read more
