I honestly can't believe I've been to Via Farina this many times and never left a review because…read moreit's easily one of my favorite restaurants in Omaha -- and without question my favorite pizza in town. Every visit has been consistently incredible, from the food to the atmosphere to the drinks. My most recent visit was for Mother's Day, and I definitely recommend making a reservation for holidays or weekends because it gets busy for good reason. I also could not resist the espresso martinis... and by that I mean I had two. No regrets. For dinner we tried the weekend special, "The Old Chicago," with Calabrian pomodoro, mozzarella, pecorino, cup and char sausage, herb ricotta, and pepperoncini. Absolutely unreal. The combination of spicy, creamy, and savory flavors was perfect, and the crust was exactly what I've come to expect from Via Farina -- crisp, chewy, and somehow still light. This place never misses. Whether it's date night, celebrating something special, or just craving really good pizza and cocktails, Via Farina is always at the top of my list.

We started off with happy hour drinks and calamari. The lemonchello and Negroni are strong!!! You've been warned! The calamari was surprisingly delicious. It didn't have a fishy taste, the breading was thin, tasty and yummy. The sauces it came with were also bomb. It had a nice kick along with pickled peppers that I could eat by itself. Now to the stars of the show -- margherita and pepperoni pizza. Wow. It almost felt like our taste buds were transported to Italy after the first few bites. Both of these pizzas were on the happy hour menu. I strongly recommend getting them if you're in a pizza mood. From the fresh dough, to fresh cheese and marinara sauce.. these pizzas alone are a huge reason we will come back. Our daughter had the buttered noodles which were also tasty. Our server was great, food came out in a timely manner. The space itself is clean and cozy. There is a bar, plus indoor and outdoor seating. Thanks to the Via Farina team for a fantastic dinner experience!

We traveled a few blocks for fresh homemade Italian dishes, along with a number of neighbors who had the same idea. Arriving at 5:45-shortly after the 5:30 start time, we were surprised at the line that quickly multiplied with families taking advantage of the great weather and playground equipment that kept the young ones occupied. A wide variety of menu options were available including fresh pasta with a choice of alfredo, marinara or meat sauce. Meatball, brats and Italian sausage subs topped the sandwich offerings. Hamburgers and fries were offered but I didn't see or hear anyone ordering from the grill. A children's menu and family feast were also listed on the hand lettered menus taped to the truck. I ordered the fresh pasta with meat sauce and added a meatball. My husband opted for the Italian sausage sub with potato salad. My entree came with a breadstick and the meat sauce was so packed with meat that I probably could have skipped the added meatballs. My husband raved about his Italian sausage sandwich and I was impressed that they wrapped the bun in foil to keep it from soaking up sauce on the trip home. We had a short 5-7 minute wait for our meals which was delivered in foam takeout containers. Plastic napkin wrapped silverware was available for those eating in the park. The young lady taking orders was well equipped for the crowd and kept the line moving very efficiently. Credit cards were accepted and someone from the kitchen shouted a "thanks for coming" as we exited with our order. Food truck Friday is a welcome addition in our neighborhood and Pomodoro's did not disappoint.
