Rocket Fizz is a fun nostalgia trip and it's great that there's one in Lancaster (it's a franchise chain with stores around the nation). However, this particular location has just lost a customer. I came here on a Friday night and there were 2 workers--a younger Indian gentleman and an older Indian man, whose names I didn't catch unfortunately. The younger man was very polite and even tried to help me find a flavor of soda that I was searching for. His service deserves 5 stars, but what followed during check-out really soured my entire experience. The older man, who was the cashier, said he would "gift" me a rewards stamp card ("get 1 free soda for every 8 sodas purchased") and tried to convince me to purchase another 2 sodas. I politely declined. He then tried to shamelessly rip me off by saying it would cost $15 for 6 sodas, when it clearly stated on several signs throughout the store that a 6-pack would cost $10.99 (while each individual soda would cost $2.49). He tried to claim that because he "gifted" me a rewards stamp card, that the bulk pricing didn't apply. What? That doesn't even make any sense. And talk about false advertising. I gave him back his so-called rewards card and demanded that I be charged the correct pricing. He rang me up for a more correct price of $12.32 (which I assume was after sales tax and a bottle deposit fee... not 100% sure because they didn't give me a receipt). Was an extra $2.68 worth it in exchange for losing a potential regular customer? I honestly didn't want to write a bad review, but I just saw another 1-star Yelp review posted earlier today by someone from out of town ("Sandie J.") who paid "$40 for 4 candies and 2 sodas." Sounds like the scammy vibe of this place is a recurrent problem, and people who don't happen to pay close enough attention like I luckily did get ripped off. Please read that Yelp review and you'll see what I mean. I really do hope they continue to get business because Rocket Fizz is an awesome concept and I want to see local businesses succeed, but I do suggest they don't try to pull stuff like this again on future unsuspecting customers or risk losing more people like they lost me :( read more

They have a good selection of candy, but the owners are extremely creepy and follow you around the store, and it's pricey as well. Won't be going here again. read more

First time at Rocket Fizz today. I was overwhelmed! I had never been to a candy store like this. I kept grabbing things because they had all my favourites: peanut butter bars (which are difficult to find now), the Mexican candies, chuao chocolates (my new favourite chocolate), & more. The drink selection was awesome. I was very happy with the choices I got. I didn't even know they packaged old school grape Faygo. The selection for a candy store A+++. The woman who checked out was sweet. My only gripe is there was another lady who felt like she was watching everyone like a hawk. It made me feel highly uncomfortable. I understand diligence in a job like this, but customer service plays a part as well. I had a question, but I decided not to ask her. Cashier was busy unfortunately. I paid for everything and left. Definitely will be coming back when I run low on my peanut butter bars. read more

My daughter and loved Rocket Fizz, that is until our latest visit. It appears as thought the franchise is being operated by and Indian family (not the issue). But before they took it over it was a place we could go and enjoy browsing. This time we were followed around the store by a young Indian guy. Every time I would pick something up he would tell me the price and try to get me to buy multiples. I have been to quite a few locations and this one is a Good spot. I've noticed some stores in very touristy locations have a limited inventory on top of being out of popular flavors. Lol all these fake reviews for the 20 dollar gift card "chance" the owner offers everyone who promises to write a good review. Sorry, I won't be bought. I deducted a star for that business practice. It's on OK store with a fair number of sodas and a fair number of candies. However the prices are also large, so don't go in expecting not to overspend. This is not a soda fountain, so don't expect to get a fresh malt, phosphate, or orange cream. If you're looking for something unique (beyond a skickers bar) they might have it. Also, a huge selection of mediocre tin signs and posters. UPDATED REVIEW- Went in today for a special request from my wife. She said the only place that would probably have the item was Rocket Fizz. I walked in and both Madison and Cheri greeted me with a smile and so cheerfully helped me out. It was just a great experience all around. Great employees are so hard to find and train but this owner has hit a home run. Got to go back into this great local- owned business recently. Absolutely love not only the selection of so many items that bring back great memories, but to be helped by a staff that truly enjoys their job is a refreshing experience. Awesome customer service! And the store was very organized and clean. Came here with family out of state and tons of kids. The two ladies working there were so friendly to all of the kids! My sister wanted a specific sign and the lady working overheard and went above and beyond and went to the backstock to show her all the signs my sister wanted. I had been to this candy/novelty store various times before COVID and always had a pleasant experience, the staff was friendly and they had a great variety of different candies to choose from including candies from my youth. Today's visit was a HUGE disappointment, so much so, that I had to write a review immediately! First of all, I noticed that there was only one staff member in the store, he never at any point said hello, welcome, what can I help you with, nothing at all. We spent about 5 minutes walking around, the whole time we were watched like a hawk by the older male attendant. My 10 year old grabbed a toy to look at and he gave us a look of total annoyance. About a minute later, he proceeded to get my 10 year old's attention and mine to tell us that she moved a packet of pop-rocks and put it back in the wrong place, he then very condescendingly showed us where the packet of pop-rocks went. My issue with this was that I was with my 10 year old the whole time we were in the store and I never at any point saw her grab the packet of pop-rocks, she even looked at me and said she hadn't grabbed the candy. No idea what would have prompted this person's completely out-of-line behavior to repeat paying customers. I came with the intention of supporting a local business, however I ended up walking out immediately. I hope that the owners of this shop read these reviews and do something about this new store attendant, he is completely unprofessional, makes the customers very uncomfortable and ultimately is costing your business sales. I was so baffled by this employee's behavior that I will look elsewhere for my candy and novelty needs in the future. read more

High prices and scam artist employees. Receipt didn't add up with what was purchased whatsoever. $65 bill for $40 worth of stuff, and $14 for a little rubber snake that's purposely not price marked. When questioned about it the employee "explained" that it was accurate, when it clearly wasn't. I used to love going to Rocket Fizz and bringing my family from out of town to pick out some fun sodas and candy but my recent experience will be my last. This place has new owners and it has really gone downhill. I called to see if they had Bird's Milk Chocolate (a polish chocolate) and the guy on the phone said a very quick yes. I was so excited because I haven't been able to find it anywhere. I loaded up the family after dinner and headed over. When I came in, I told them I was the one who called and the guy took me over to a Hershey's milk chocolate bar. He had no idea what I was talking about and what that chocolate was. I was disappointed and annoyed that I brought the whole family out for nothing. So, we decided to browse and buy a couple things. When I came home, I was eating a 3 Musketeers bar that I had bought and I noticed it tasted old. I looked at the date on the wrapper and it said best by 06/2019! It was January 16, 2020!! Not only did they not have the chocolate that they said they had (and didn't even know what it was), I got expired candy too. I will be sure to never waste my money here again and make sure my friends and family don't as well. read more

Great selection of candy and little knickknacks. Very high pricing, but I guess it's what you expect with a specialty store like this. What I did not appreciate was that I just went in for some stocking stuffers and dropped about $250 for candies and requested if they could give me some kind of a discount. I think it was a father and son behind the counter. They both said "oh sure we will give you a great discount at the end!" So they tell me the total and it's just under $250!!! So I'm expecting something around maybe a 10% discount or maybe even a little bit more. No, they gave me exactly $14 off of my $250 purchase! More than a little disappointed for sure! Don't think I'll be heading back there in the near future. If you like candy And are willing to pay absolute top dollar for it, this is the place to go. I just didn't appreciate the fact that they told me they would give me a discount and then pretty much just threw it back in my face. I would've just said no we don't give a discount I'm sorry. Like other reviewers the people running this place follow you around like you are going to steal something. Keep showing you things and will not leave you to just look around. I have been here several times before and did not get treated this way. I brought my granddaughter and her friend and we spent a lot of money. I just happened to walk in here because I thought they sold soda lol. But wow, I was completely overwhelmed with all the candy they have. They all old fashioned candy from the 50's 50's even 20's! It was really interesting to see, I enjoyed looking at every piece. I'm honestly very disappointed with this place. They do have a great selection of candy but the people that work there are just absolutely awful. I called to ask if they had a specific chip that I have been looking for (the asteroid hot Cheetos) since I cannot find them anywhere out here and the gentlemen told me that they had them, so I was very excited and headed over. Note - I live in east Palmdale so it's a bit of a drive as it is. I get there and told them I called about the asteroids and they literally told me "ummmm oh yeah, can you please type it on the iPad so I can see what it looks like" so I did so and he tells me "oh no we don't have those but we have other Cheetos" and points to some baked potato chips. So after dining I decided to stop by Rocket Fizz for stocking stuffers. I was followed by the staff in an attempt to sell me anything and everything. When I would decide on an item I was told I should buy 3 of the same item. I purchased a $20 lunchbox and and nothing else had a price on it. I thought, it's just 4 candies and 2 sodas . The total came to $59.00!!! In my rush to get out of there, I wasn't paying enough attention and didn't realize it until I looked at my bank statement. Btw, they conveniently did not give me a receipt. I paid nearly $40 for 4 candies and 2 sodas!!!! I mentioned I was from out of town. I can't help but wonder if the cashier felt he could get away with it! This is a wonderful place to go especially if you are looking for something to quench your sweet tooth or unique drink thirst. The store provides a nice selection of candies/chocolates from U.S., old school candies, Europe, Japan etc. If you have children, they will enter with a huge smile on their face and leave with their purchase happier than ever! The staff here on my visit were also extremely helpful answering any questions I had & were very friendly too. The reason for 3 stars though and not five is twofold; 1) Their prices are like their rockets...astronomical! While they also sell the standard American candies, they are practically double the amount you will pay anywhere else. i understand that some candies from Europe & Japan are harder to come across. Yet, we live in LA & these items are easily found. The prices for these itens are about 5 times the amount you'd pay elsewhere. Their specialty drinks fall into this same category and are actually the easiest items to source even nearby elsewhere for much cheaper. 2) Their selection is decent but not fascinating. They do have a good variety but nothing so unique or a selection of unique candies that is extensive enough to actually really want to purchase much. Stop by today to see what the buzz is all about. As you walk in you enter sugar heaven. Candy and soda all over the place. I just bought a moon pie and a soda but will be back to try some of their unique stuff. They have candy from Japan and England pretty neat if you ask me.
