Large kitchen facility behind can be seen through huge plate glass window. You can order various prepared meats, sausages, cheeses, paste & sauces from the deli counter to take out or eat in along with wines to pair it with. I chose to eat inside which has bistro tables & chairs along with the house red wine du jour. Didn't notice a sales person who could take on the role of sommelier & would advise what types of wines would pair with the ordered food. 1) I bought 2 oz portions to taste and chose: a) Bresaola air dried beef with black pepper, Porcini mushroom, celery powder not made in Lombardia, Italia, but distributed from Brooklyn, NYC. b) Sujuk, an Armenian style of domestic origin, that was "uncured" beef, lamb, red wine, garlic, celery. c) Prosciutto but not "di Parma", but some domestic U.S. production. All the above prepared meats were acceptable, but not exceptional in comparison to what I had in Italy although I have not been to Armenia. 1-3a) The house red wine was Casa Silva Terroir de Familia Carmènere Viñedo de los Andes Valle de Colchagua, Chile. It tasted flat, dull, insipid; not particularly interesting red wine of any note. The staff member was accommodating, helpful if not the most informative & knowledgeable about the comestibles and libation that I had ordered. For a far off outpost like Lancaster, Simplicity is impressive, and the selection of meats and cheeses are extensive. However, what I had sampled did not particularly impress. 3 stars.

The vodka cream sauce was very flavorful but the shrimp was pretty much not there, and that was an additional 8 dollars. The red pepper sauce was bland. You build your dish- pick the pasta and sauce, add protein etc for additional cost. I added shrimp to mine and there was maybe two in there cut into 4 pieces each. The bread sticks came with 4 at 22 bucks a piece, tasted a lil frost bitten. Overall a bit pricey and the food didn't quite match.

Chowmaharlika Review…read more I was really excited to try the restaurant side of Chowmaharlika since the market portion has been remodeled and looks absolutely beautiful! The market is clean, upgraded, and has so many great things to shop for. Unfortunately, the restaurant experience didn't quite meet my expectations. The biggest issue was the price point. It's a buffet-style setup where you choose your entrées from the hot bar, and they package everything in styrofoam containers. For the amount charged, I expected a lot more. I ordered the chicken adobo, and for the price I received only 3 pieces of chicken and 2 scoops of rice. Unfortunately, the food itself wasn't impressive enough to justify the cost. The chicken adobo had more broken bones than actual meat, and I also wondered how long the food had been sitting in the hot bar. The halo-halo was different--I'll say that--but I've definitely had better. The restaurant side is still very new, so hopefully they take customer feedback and continue improving. The market is beautiful, but as far as the food experience goes, I personally wouldn't return unless there are some upgrades made. Hopefully with time, the restaurant can match the quality and atmosphere of the newly remodeled market.

We tried Pescadería Big Fish in East Lancaster for the first time, and all I can say is... wow!…read moreThis place is a hidden gem. We're originally from the San Fernando Valley, where there are a lot of seafood markets like this, so walking in brought back a lot of nostalgia. I had no idea this place even existed until someone recommended it, and I'm so glad they did. My best friend was visiting for the weekend, so it was the perfect opportunity to check it out. As soon as you walk in, you'll see fresh seafood displayed on ice that they fry to order. We ordered a whole tilapia, a whole snapper, fried baby squid, a small container of ceviche to try, and tortilla chips. Everything was fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious. The ceviche was excellent, and the fried fish was perfectly cooked with amazing flavor. The customer service was outstanding. Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. They were pretty busy, and there was a line when we arrived, so expect a bit of a wait. But once you taste the food, you'll understand why this place stays busy. It was well worth the wait. We took our food home, and it was still amazing. This is definitely going to become our go-to spot for fried fish. We'll absolutely be back again and again. 10/10 highly recommend!

You can tell they take pride in what they do. The seafood was fresh fresh... not just fresh on paper, but you can taste the difference. I had the catfish and red snapper, and both were cooked perfectly--crispy on the outside, juicy and flavorful on the inside. Exactly how it's supposed to be done. We need to support spots like this. There are not many "You Buy, We Fry" seafood places left out here in the AV, and this one deserves more love and more business. If you want good portions, real flavor, and great service--tap in with Pescadería Big Fish. I'll definitely be back. #SupportLocal

Dear Gonzalez Meat Market Management,…read more I am writing to formally bring to your attention a concerning experience I had at your Lancaster, California location. My intent is to make you aware of several issues related to both food safety practices and customer service, as these are matters that directly impact public health and customer trust. First, I observed what appeared to be serious health code violations. During my visit, a staff member handled raw meat and then proceeded to touch other surfaces without properly washing or sanitizing their hands. Specifically: - Raw meat was transported from a neighboring location and handled in a way that created a risk of cross-contamination. - The individual handling the raw meat also handled the exterior of the bag, which can transfer bacteria. - Afterward, the same staff member touched cash from the register, soda cans, and prepared food items without changing gloves or washing hands. This sequence of actions raises concerns about cross-contamination and food safety, especially since customers directly consume these items. Secondly, I would like to address the customer service experience. At the time of my visit, there appeared to be insufficient staffing, with only one chef and one cashier managing a high volume of customers. As a result: - There were approximately 20 customers waiting, and service was significantly delayed (around 20 minutes or more). - Several customers ahead of me were still waiting when a customer who ordered after me received her food first, despite placing a larger order. - My order was simple (four carne asada tacos and Mexican rice), yet it took longer than expected without clear communication. Additionally, I was informed that the grill was down, which contributed to the delay. While I understand that unexpected issues can occur, this was not communicated proactively, and there was no effort made to accommodate or compensate for the inconvenience. I had requested grilled onions and grilled jalapeños, and given the delay and circumstances, it would have been a considerate gesture to provide these at no additional cost. Instead, I was charged and met with an unprofessional attitude when I raised concerns. Overall, the combination of potential health code violations and poor customer service created an experience that was both disappointing and concerning. I hope you take this feedback seriously and implement corrective measures to ensure proper food handling procedures and improved customer service moving forward. This place has strong potential, but a few operational improvements would really elevate the customer experience. During busy hours, more staffing and a clearer order system would help reduce long waits and ensure customers are served in the correct order. I'd also recommend reinforcing basic food safety practices like preventing cross-contamination between raw meat handling, cash handling, and food prep, as well as keeping the grill consistently running during service hours to avoid delays. Lastly, when delays happen, small gestures like complimentary items or waiving small add-ons can go a long way in maintaining customer satisfaction and loyalty. Sincerely, B. Orona Blackshire

Every time I order meat they always over shoot the pounds on purpose, I asked for 2 pounds how did I end up with 4? And when I say something they take one piece out. I've also noticed they try to give me the stringy pieces instead of the actual pieces of meat. I also asked for 3 pieces of chicken and I saw the butcher sneak in a 4th piece as he was about to close the bag. I told him I said 3 and he said yes 3 but here I am with 4 pieces of meat. It's usually the older butchers that do this too not so much the younger ones. I order a certain amount for my family so it doesn't go to waste but I always end up with so much extra it's irritating.

It's a little shop located in a strip mall with some tables and chairs inside and limited seating outside. Walked in and it seemed pretty quiet with just one other customer waiting for their orders. Customer service was just OK. Looked over their menu and decided to go with the turkey sandwich. Step one is picking your bread. They offer a variety of eight breads to choose from I went with whole wheat bread. Step two is picking your cheese and they have a variety of 16 cheeses to pick from I chose pepper jack. Step three is the condiments. I went with all and if there's anything you don't want, you can subtract it. The turkey sandwich I ordered was OK. They were very generous with the turkey. It came with all the vegetables and fixings, but I couldn't figure out what was giving it a salty taste. Should've went with a different selection of bread as the wheat bread was very, very dry and crumbly. Paired my turkey sandwich with jalapeño chips and a Coke.
