I stopped by to get hard shell tacos last night and to say that I was disappointed is an understatement. I ordered 7 hard shell tacos with ground beef and an order of taquitos. Shrinkflation lives here for sure. The taco prices have increased while portions sizes have decreased. The ground beef tasted like it had spent time on the ground while the cheese and lettuce were not great. It is sad to see a place like this that used to be so good fall so quickly. Do yourself a favor and get your tacos from Jack in the Box. That way you can get bad tacos but be out $30. read more

Cozy little spot that is much bigger than it looks on the outside. Stiff competition with there being three Mexican joints in this shopping center. Wow. Some of the best crispy hard shell tacos I've had in the AV. This for sure is the spot for shredded beef crispy tacos. The red salsa goes great with it and extra cheese! As of April, 2025, Casita Torres is back under the ownership of Candelario Torres, who has been the cook there since the 1980's. The original menu has been restored, the food is delicious again, the staff are friendly and delightful, and the prior, temporary owners who fumbled the ball are gone. Came back to CASITA TORRES after being gone from it for Like 3 years. The food is the same great as always. The service was fast and courteous. As always. Very clean and friendly. I was really craving some albóndigas.. Called some of my fave Mexican spots and they had ran out... So I called this place and they said they had some... Stopped in, lady behind the counter was busy gossiping to even acknowledge me.. I waited a bit before she took my order. I ordered and she was ready to pack it to go... I informed her it was for fine in, she didn't seem too excited. I ordered my food, no chips and salsa served. She didn't even offer a Glass of water. When food arrived. There should be a 0 Star option. I have been going to this restaurant for 38 years, since I was 4 years old, and I am absolutely appalled, disgusted, and disappointed. To the point of losing sleep, I was so, SO MAD! I don't know if they changed owners for the second time, but EVERYTHING has changed in the last month or so. And not in a good way. I will no longer take me or my family here ever again, and I will never recommend them again either. I'll be warning everyone I know to avoid going here. When Gregg sold the business I was worried they would change things and they didn't, at all. But out of nowhere, everything has changed and the food is atrocious. I hope Gregg doesn't find out what they have done with his legacy. The beans have changed and taste like canned Rosarita refried beans. The rice has changed and is undercooked. The tacos are smaller like street taco size. The taquitos are no longer shredded beef, they are smaller and now made with some crappy ground beef. The horchata is no longer in the mixing machine, so now you get half an inch of rice and cinnamon sediment at the bottom of your cup. The last time my mother went, she said they microwaved her food... They even had the audacity to raise the prices. I don't care if you add $2 to every item you have, we will ALWAYS eat at this restaurant till the day we die if it were possible. But not now after desecrating the food. Too bad I can't cuss on this review because I have A LOT of choice words for these people. How F-ing dare you ruin Gregg's legacy like this... Let me know before you close the place down, I'll ask Gregg for the recipes and run this place myself with my father. The prices have increased which would be okay if the taste did as well, the quality is nowhere near where it used to be. Avoid at All Costs! I had a terrible experience at Casita Lopez. I ordered fajitas, and the moment I tasted the meat, it had an unpleasant, old flavor. Hours later, I found myself in a nightmare--constantly running to the restroom, shivering, and suffering from severe stomach pain. It's clear that I got food poisoning from this meal. I can honestly say I never noticed a difference in the food when ownership changed from Casita Lopez to Casita Torres. My boss and I have been loyal customers for over 25 years. Not sure what happened recently but the food is nowhere near as good as it used to be. The tacos are smaller. My burritos have been missing ingredients ordered. Takes much longer for the food to be made. After going there almost every Friday for years, last Friday was a sad day for us because we decided we have been so disappointed the last 4-5 times, we went somewhere different. I have been coming here since I was a little kid. The food is consistenly good and whenever I come back to the AV I always make sure to grab some Casita Lopez before I leave again. If I take food home for the family its a whole chicken and a side of rice and beans. If its just me I get the chicken flauta combo or the ground beef hard shell taco combo with rice and beans. Often times they have one of the combos as a special of the day for $7.99. Make sure you check on the wall behind the register as some times the staff can forget and charge you regular price. There are plenty of booths and it can get pretty busy on Sunday after church around 1pm. The owner is very pleasant. When he is there, which is quite often, he will come around to your table and help you with anything you still need such as refills or additional orders. I always feel at home at Casita Lopez, it is my go to for good Mexican comfort food. read more

This is hands down my favorite place to eat. I've been eating here since I was a little kid, and the food hasn't changed! It's an owner operated business, and about half the time Greg the owner is either behind the counter or taking your order. I've had just about everything on the menu, and that includes the burgers! The bacon, and avocado cheeseburger was really good not huge or anything, but it was definetly better than most burger places. The carnitas are probably my favorite item, but I'm always mixing it up! The ONLY complaint is the salsa was not as thick as we like it, however taste was spot on! If you are in Lancaster give these guys a chance! FOOD: Tasty and authentic Mexican food. The salsa bar has flavorful salsas, so that's a great start. A friend and I ordered tamales, an al pastor taco, and the chimi chorizo burrito. Everything was prepared nicely. The al pastor meat had good flavor and wasn't dry or overcooked either. The chimi chorizo burrito definitely isn't the healthiest thing to order, but it's deep-fried, cheesy, and wonderful. The tamales were good and also drenched in tamale sauce, which made the entire dish better. The rice was quite enjoyable too, as it wasn't dried out or bland. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great customer service! The owner personally takes pride in his restaurant and in his service as well. Ordered food to go for 40 to be ready at 11:30 on a Saturday. Greg Lopez (owner) takes the order and quotes charges. He is accommodating, friendly and works with YOUR budget. I arrived 15 minutes early and he gave me 'tastings' of some of my items while iOffered me something to drink and anything that would make me comfortable. Food was hot and ready on time. 1st time eating here we had 5 adults and two kids. It looks like you order at front but they brought us menus and served us which was nice. It was very clean and service was friendly and attentive. I noticed the prices were super reasonable. I ordered a half roasted chicken rice beans and tortillas and I think it was 8.99. The chicken was delicious rice and beans good too. They have a kids menu and our 4 year old ate chicken nuggets and fries and she loved it. Our table also ordered, a burrito, tostada, and taco plate all of the food was very good. read more

If your idea of a great 16.00 Torta is a bun, with a tiny tomato and nothing else, head over to this restaurant. We have dined in before and ordered a Chile relleno torta,and it was pretty good. But to go??? They will charge you for both a torta, 8.00 and a Relleno 7.90. She said it would have everything that is normally on the meat torta, cheese, beans, lettuce, sauce. LIE. Nothing. Just a bun for 8.00 and a mushy flavorless greasy relleno. With completely limp greasy white uncooked fries. I ordered a side of rice, which was more like red colored over cooked mush. And I ordered a side of sour cream, expecting a wonderful thick Mexican cream, but no. It was thin and watery. I tossed the entire disgusting mess in the trash. The breakfast burritos here are so good!!! And they give a side of complimentary chips as well. Don't forget to help yourself at their salsa bar for some extra green sauce!! No limits here thank goodness. Call in your order ahead of time if you can cause they always take a food 15 minutes even for a burrito. It's fine though since you know everything is going to come out piping hot and fresh. I normally only eat half, but I can't resist downing the whole thing when I eat here. Simply some of the best breakfast I've had in California. My family stopped her for breakfast to meet with someone before their baby shower and it was amazing. The owner went out his way to make sure we were comfortable and well fed. I'll start by saying they have the best freshly squeezed orange juice I've ever had. I mean WOW! my entire family talked about it the whole time and through our drive back home. I live in the Bay Area and will happily travel back sometime soon hopefully just to have some of that juice. The breakfast was as if it was homemade. Years ago my co-worker got me a two taco meal from Casita Lopez. It was so delicious but never had a chance to go back. Today my husband and I went there for dinner. He had the carne asada burrito and I had the one hard taco that includes rice, beans, and chips. My husband really liked the burrito. The meat was very juicy. My taco was so good. The man that helps us with our order came to our table and was telling us that the weekends are their busy days. He was very nice and he even helped my husband get the right salsa for him at their salsa bar. Place was very clean and plesant. I will definitely will be back. I don't recommend this place for good low-cost Mexican food. My wife swears this place is incredible, but she also only orders chicken tacos any place we go. The food is mediocre and will leave you wishing you spent your cash elsewhere. The prices are reasonable but so are prices at other great nearby taquerias.
