Our Fam @ Rockefeller Center with the Christmas Tree!
Chris E.

THE GOOD ---------------- + Of course the tree itself! Honestly, it never, ever gets old. + This is THEEE Christmas tree around the world and you quickly realize why when you see it in person. It's almost like a celebrity sighting when you see it for the first time live. + The tree is as beautifully decorated as any tree in the world and it typically towers over its audience at 75-85 feet. The star at the top is something to behold when you see it shining in person. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - Crowds, crowds, crowds during peak viewing times in the afternoon and evening. Be prepared to do plenty of shoulder bumping as you walk through the area to get your perfect photo. MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Don't settle for a far away photo with the tree. You can actually get pretty close to the tree for a great shot - either head on or to the side, but be fast because people can easily walk in front of your shot if you're not ready.

Jaw dropping. So stunning. Immediately gets me in the holiday spirit seeing it. I love visiting NYC at Christmastime and I have to see the tree at some point during my visit. Obviously it can get pretty crowded around this area but with a little bit of patience and politeness, you can move your way to the front and take a picture like this (so close up that it looks like no one else is at Rockefeller Center hahaha). I love the ice skating rink right below it too. Magical.

MANHATTAN/Midtown: the iconic Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center is truly something you have to see to believe. Towering, dazzling, and bursting with holiday magic, it is one of the most impressive seasonal sights in the world. Leashed dogs are welcome throughout the complex, making it a fun spot to stroll, snap selfies, and soak in the sights around the area. It does get very crowded, so plan ahead, stay alert, and enjoy the experience. Be sure to follow Rockefeller Center for the latest updates. Just a short walk away, you will also find the World's Largest Menorah at Grand Army Plaza at 59th Street and 5th Avenue. Standing an incredible 32 feet tall, it is lit nightly through the holiday in celebration of the Festival of Lights and is another must-see outdoor attraction while exploring the city. And truly, the magic does not stop there. Nearly every block is glowing with holiday decorations, twinkling lights, and festive displays, making Manhattan feel like one giant winter wonderland.

Don't be upset at me for dissing this beloved icon. It's huge, but I found it underwhelming. Maybe it's because I went during the day, it was after Christmas, and there weren't crowds so very little excitement built around this visit. The holes in the tree enable you to see all the way through to the other side. There are so many trees in NYC that were much smaller but decorated more uniquely and beautifully than just lights and no ornaments!

This is likely the most famous Christmas Tree in the world. My wife has seen it in the past and I have seen pictures and videos. After seeing it for the first time in person I have to say pictures/videos don't do it justice! A sight you must see in person! The most obvious and most obnoxious part is the crowds you will be dealing with. I think that does speak to how important it is to visit/see. My wife and I went to a few different sides for a few different views of it. The most impressive Christmas Tree I have ever seen for sure, so many lights and such a bright tree. Even though we went during some of the busiest hours and dealt with large crowds I would recommend checking out at weird hours for smaller more manageable crowds. Do not skip out on this!

Must visit place in holidays - Christmas time . It hosts the famous Christmas tree . It's so crowded though. Make sure you don't go on a snow day or ice cold day . It's gonna be a nightmare for kids . Too crowded and it is difficult to even walk through the steeets. There are 2 lines - one which takes you close to the tree or u can just take slightly farther shots without waiting. Worth the visit !

The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is pure magic and easily one of the most iconic holiday sights in the world. Seeing it in person, lit up and towering over the plaza, instantly puts you in the Christmas spirit -- it's festive, emotional, and truly unforgettable. It feels like stepping into a postcard of New York City during the holidays. That said, it does get extremely busy on weekends and at night, with thick crowds and little room to linger. If you visit on a weekday, especially during the morning or early afternoon, it's much more enjoyable and easier to take it all in. No matter when you go, though, it's a must-see holiday experience and absolutely worthy of five stars.

I came, I saw, I checked in on Yelp, and left.

All 61 inches and 135 pounds of lil' ol' me made it through the sardine-packed crowds of Midtown NYC... to see this massive, iconic tree. She's real cute! Will I do this again? Lol ask me in another 8 years becauseeeee I really don't see the big deal about it. Maybe it's because I'm not a tourist. I've lived 20 minutes away from NYC all of my life. Orrrr maybe it's because I've had it up to here with dealing with city crowds. I came, I saw, I checked in on Yelp, and left. MERRY CHRISTMAS, YA FILTHY ANIMALS! XOXO

If you've never visited the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, it is certainly worth adding it to your NYC itinerary. A beautiful, well-lit tree overlooking the ice rink. My only gripe is the tree draws astonishing crowds in the evenings. Everyone wants to see the tree lit at night. So much it becomes an ingress and egress nightmare at all entrances to Rockefeller Plaza. I've visited the tree so many times over the years and in the evenings there is always a shockingly massive crowd. It also doesn't help that the Christian Dior & Saks light display on 57th & Madison draws stagnant crowds. Visiting with children or strollers is not recommended during peak hours as the crowds are simply unforgiving to parents. If you want to experience the tree without an intimate shoulder to shoulder experience, visit early in the morning between 5:30am - 7am. You will still run into tourist groups, however, the foot traffic is lighter, photo opportunities are better, and walking around the plaza isn't a hassle. Early in the morning also presents better opportunities for people to support one another with picture-taking. Just be sure to reciprocate by helping those who help you take photos. Be patient with others as many are not native to the area, country, or city etiquette in general. Overall, a great experience with planning and leveled expectations.

I think this is a worthwhile stop if you are in NYC around christmas time and you haven't been there in the past. The tree is really big and bright, and it makes for good pictures. But beware coming here at night close to christmas, as it is super packed at the tree and the surrounding areas. You will almost definitely get someone else in the background of your picture. I am not sure I would return here anytime soon as it was kinda crazy packed getting to the tree, but I think it is a fun thing to do if you've never gone before.

Always a great time!! Great memories from childhood coming here.. crowded so try and go off times

When I lived in NYC I made a trip to see the tree every year. This year's tree is not so spectacular. It is not very tall, nor very full. The lighting isn't great either. I'm still happy that I went to see it. Happy Holidays!

If you're ever in New York during the holiday season, you absolutely have to stop into Rockefeller Center to see the Rockefeller Christmas Tree! It's about as massive as the skyscrapers around it and just as impressive in grandeur, with its millions of sparkling lights. There's tons of stuff to do around the tree in Rockefeller Center too, like food, shops, ice skating and more. So don't think you're just stopping to look at the tree and there won't be anything to do. Go at night and during the day if you want to fully see it in the daylight, but then want to also see it with the lights shining in the dark. Whatever time of day you go, just go and see this massive sight in New York at Christmas time!

It's so big, that's what...oh nevermind it's Christmas

Lots of people there. The tree is available during the holiday season and security will block off the areas closest to the tree itself.

Ask the Community - Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree

Is it the best to visit the Christmas tree after 11pm?

The tree gets turned off every night around 11:30pm, but I can swear I visited one evening a little earlier and it was already off. It's a wonderful sight for sure so I hope you've gotten to it.

Is it best to check this out later in the evening before it closes down? What's the best time to visit day, afternoon or night?

Best time is at night after the crowd as thin out past 9PM

My 700th review!…read more I've always noticed this garden center near the exit of the Holland Tunnel. When I was hunting for garden centers in the area, this came up with great reviews and I decided to check it out. It was definitely better than expected. They had a really nice selection of both indoor and outdoor plants. I came looking specifically for hydrangeas, and they probably had 10 to 15 varieties available - some needing full sun and some needing partial. The gentleman that was working there was very friendly. I wanted two plants that looked similar to sit side-by-side by my front door. He helped me choose the variety, and two plants that looked the most similar. We ended up deciding on the candy apple variety by Monrovia. It needs full sun and should bloom through summer with blooms that will last till October. Once I paid, they carried the plants out to the car for me, laid plastic in my car and packed everything for me. I thought this was really a nice service. This is definitely more expensive than Home Depot, but they carry much nicer product with wider variety and better service. Especially if you're just looking for a couple plants, I would definitely come here instead. I asked about some fall perennial plants, and he recommended I come back after Halloween to check out what they'll have in season for winter. I will definitely be back.

The day before delivery we got a email reminding us to clear space and explain how delivery timing would work. The delivery guy called 10 minutes before he arrived. He brought the tree in already in the stand, plopped it down in our desired location, asked for a quarter-gallon of water so it could drink up, since it had a fresh cut, and that was that! Entry to exit he was in our apartment for maybe 5 minutes and super nice. The tree is very symmetrical and has a really straight, tapered trunk that's perfect for putting a star on. Plus it smells great :)
