We wandered around the different levels of shopping, watching people skate, and loved the architecture! It was bitterly cold out for this Florida girl, but we had read about all of the underground space that goes on for blocks! Such a great idea. We came back the next evening because we had tickets to SNL. My daughter found a cool space with a bar and we, nah, I'll save that review for them, but it was a fun pre-game before the main event! There is so much to do that we didn't have time for, but it was a great way to enjoy an iconic building whether it's cold out or not! The history of this building is amazing!!

Ladies and gentlemen... We are glad to present the 2025 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. Where some trees are nominated, others he finds by accident while driving throughout the Northeast. Hailing from East Greenbush, NY, this towering 75-foot, 11-ton Norway Spruce caught the eye of Rockefeller Center Head Gardener Erik Pauze from the home of the Russ family, a tribute to Dan Russ, who passed in 2020, fulfilling his lifelong dream. There are about 50,000 lights--which means about 5 miles of wire--on the tree. And on top? A 3D Swarovski star that weighs 900 pounds and features 70 spikes covered in 3 million crystals The tree will be lit daily from 5 AM to midnight. On December 24, the tree remains lit for 24 hours. On New Year's Eve, the lights are turned off at 9 PM. The tree will be on view through January 10. Pack your patience, especially on the weekend, as this tree is considered an NYC holiday jewel admired by locals and tourists where my partner, my family, and I came this afternoon.

Another NYC icon to check out! It was crowded but pretty! Couldn't get as close to the skating rink as I would like but I thought it was bigger I guess. I've never been to the Big Apple in the winter and it did not disappoint! Busy busy busy! Everyone was nice and helpful though as we moved around trying to figure out how to get here or there!

The Rockefeller Center is always a great place to visit. Unfortunately the ice rink was down as they were holding a special event. This was also the day of the big NY snowstorm. The snow was really starting to come down and things were closing early. We will have to come back when there is not inclement weather. Lots to do here.

When visiting the absolute heart and soul of New York City, no visit is complete without a trip to the amazingly stunning and beautiful "Rockefeller Center" in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. This 22-acre space occupies and spans between 48th St to 51st St while showcasing the very best in entertaining, fashion, art, design, and dining. To get here, forget about driving your own vehicle. The subway is your best friend since various subway stations are in very close proximity. Otherwise, a yellow cab and rideshare are available, but with the vast amount of people surrounding this area, I'd recommend coming by foot or train. During my recent trip to New York City (which was during October 8th-14th, 2025), I came here on several occasions. There are numerous entrances/exits from all blocks as it can be quite a challenge finding out where you need to go. However, some of the more well-known buildings that occupy this space are "Radio City Music Hall", "NBC" (where the "Jimmy Fallon Show", the "Today Show", and many other talk shows are filmed), and outdoor ice rink (during the late-fall and winter months), a rooftop bar (called "Top of the Rock"), and a huge underground dining area with other establishments that boast retail, entertainment, and hospitality. To the artists and those historians, this place is established as a true art-deco design with progressive paintings, statues, and a feeling of true beauty in all directions. Depending on the time of year you come here, they offer events, tours, VIP experiences, and even activities that the kids will enjoy. And considering that everything is enclosed with a short walk to the underground subways, coming here can be a breeze (once you figure out where to go) no matter what time of year (snow/rain or shine, hot or cold, or anything in between). Finally, this center also does weddings, private parties on the rooftop, and many more experiences where the skies the limit. I had the honor of eating at "5 Acres" (which will be a different review) as well as touring much of what this gigantic center is all about. I will say that this center has withstood the test of time; not just from its heyday when Broadway musicals were all the rage but up to the current time. And I will say that there isn't a city is bold and daring as New York City is. So when coming here (as a tourist or just a local New Yorker), you will be impressed with the variety of things to see and do. Therefore, when factoring everything (dining options, entertainment, views of the city, art, culture, and history), "Rockefeller Center" is as good as it gets. My rating, a perfect five stars.

Rockefeller Center refers to a complex of 19 commercial buildings, including 14 original Art Deco buildings commissioned by the Rockefeller family. Rockefeller Center includes: 30 Rockefeller Plaza (known as 30 Rock, it houses the headquarters and NY studios of NBC); Radio City Music Hall; the ice rink; and more. On a visit to NYC a couple of weeks ago, I decided to take a tour of Rockefeller Center (a 75-minute guided walking tour that focuses on the history, architecture, and art of the complex). The tour was okay, but it was great to learn about the history of Rockefeller Center and to have many of its architectural highlights pointed out. Rockefeller Center is one of those areas that tourists often hit up on a first visit to NYC, so it is packed. But - even for crowd-avoidant people like me - it's worth a visit. You can ice skate if you want. Or you can take in the views from Top of the Rock. You can take the tour. Or you can just wander around yourself. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and bars in the area, so you can definitely spend a bit of time exploring.

So I decided to take my lady to see A Christmas Spectacular on Veterans Day 2025. So we decided to get a something to eat after the show. We saw these chalets as we almost passed the Rockerfeller Center Tree (that is under construction ) and we were greeted promptly and pleasantly ! We didn't even know they had something like this there! It was delightful to be so close to the TREE!! We were escorted to these nice sized chalets that are lined with 5 acres of Balsam Hill decor! You can also shop their products because there is a QR code on the wall to find some great items! The rooms are 40 minutes long and the timers are located behind the wreaths on the outside of the doors lol. They fit up to 4 to 6 people but it was just us 2. We ordered the grilled cheese and hot apple cider ! Wow so cheesy and the cider hit the spot because it was like 30 degrees outside that day! From the inside you can see the tree and the ice rink. They put so much into this whole experience . This will put you in the Christmas season instantly. I know we don't celebrate Christmas before Thanksgiving but with a gorgeous place like this it will sure make you start to get that jingle bell spirit!

I got here when the Christmas tree arrived and still on the truck, being prepared to be placed on the pedestal. A lot of people had gathered. Although it was November 8, some stores on 5th Avenue were already decorated for Christmas. Ralph Lauren coffee truck was open to warm up the morning.

I rarely do this... you're probably thinking " What don't you do?" Stick one foot on Fifth Avenue during the holidays. Forget about getting run over by a reindeer.. I mean one faces a stampede of people, a kaleidoscope of popping bright colors, barricade this, barricade that... However, with keeping up on my tradition of annually seeing the Xmas tree, I forged ahead. But just a brief trip down memory lane.. My mom used to work in this area and it started with a long break between classes at Baruch College, I visited my mom. I would order a burger deluxe from Burger Heaven or catch frozen yogurt at Great American Health Bar. Then I would explore Rock Center.. the shops, the concourse, Saks.. you name it. And it all started because of my wonderful mom. We once got stuck in the city due to a snowstorm during Xmas and we stayed in a cool hotel and of course visited the tree**. Such memories! This year, my friends offered advice.. " Take the 5th Avenue bus and ride by" ( nope, no way) or " Go at midnight.." I actually arrived at 11:30am and was surprised I was able to walk up to the tree.. hence there was a barricade. Full closeness, walk to the skating rink and then you will be thisclose. One friend told me the tree was " spectacular this year vs. other years." Well, here was my moment.. just the tree and I.. and it was magnificent. I snapped a few and turned around.. the concourse was getting crowded. I waved and said " Happy Holidays" to the tree and booked. She is worth seeing this year. Tree responsibly! **Aah you noticed. You will see some previous year trees in the photos of this review. Do you see anything different?

A tradition that we carry on.. busier that I recall but worth the trip to see enjoy get a pic and explore your surroundings like FAO Schwartz

Visiting Rockefeller Center during the holidays is one of those classic New York experiences everyone should do at least once. The Christmas tree is absolutely stunning in person, way bigger and brighter than photos can capture. Standing there with the lights, decorations, and skating rink below really does feel like stepping into a movie scene. That said... wow, the crowds. It's PACKED, especially at night. Expect shoulder-to-shoulder walking, lots of tourists, and a bit of chaos if you're trying to take photos. Be patient, keep your expectations realistic, and you'll enjoy it a lot more. If you can, go early in the morning or late at night, much calmer and easier to soak it all in. The ice rink is iconic and fun to watch (even if you don't skate), though it's definitely on the pricey side. Still, seeing people skating under the tree is pure holiday vibes. The surrounding area is beautifully decorated, and there are plenty of nearby spots for coffee, hot chocolate, or just warming up. Overall, it's festive, magical, and very New York just not the place for a quiet stroll. Tip: Dress warm, go off-peak if possible, and don't plan to linger too long.

The tree, the ice skaters, the light show- such a classic thing to do during the Christmas holiday season in NYC! Crowded but worth it for the experience. I live pretty close to NYC, and still try to visit every year. For tourists this time of year I would say it is a must do and costs nothing to enjoy a nice evening here taking in the holiday ambiance.

Many department stores have sadly faded away over the years. Think, B. Altman & Co, Barneys, Henri Bendels, Lord & Taylor, Bonwit Teller, I miss them all like old friends who passed.
