Just to slow, half the time it doesn't work. Way too much money for little service.

After reading all of these reviews I will not be purchasing services from RSI. I am very disappointed because I need internet, I start college next month and 2 of my classes are on line. I suppose I will just have to go my moms house to use her WIFI. very disappointed read more

Worst company ever. It's been awhile since they cancelled me for being an "unhappy customer", but I'm writing this nevertheless. Days of blackout service, rude employees, and even more rude owner. Constant runaround when you try to get help, and when you do it's usually blamed on you or your equipment. The fact that this company won't allow its own customers to view YELP should speak volumes. Blanket, redundant statements are the only things they can reply with. Save yourself the headache and go with Dishnet or Hughesnet. Excellent customer service there and won't cancel you for just being unhappy. read more

The poor people with customer service have to deal with the horrible quality of the actual product their company is providing. Great at first--there is literally a tower right next to me...and now it disconnects everyday AT LEAST once AND the speeds on speedtest.net are much less than what I am paying for. Are you going to give me my money back Rock Solid? Or is the same guy from the company who keeps commenting on these reviews going to give the customers another rude comment. Fix the problem. I have seen all the bad reviews but I decided to write my own. I got the service in 2013 exactly 2 years ago. This was my only choice since I live in San Antonio but right at the outskirts, basically in the country. Just about missed the mark to get TWC or AT&T so rock solid was my only choice. Since I live far from their closest antenna I had a 50ft pole installed in order to reach the signal. And I was only able to get the slowest service available . I had satellite Internet before but they only give you about 20 gigs a month which is not a lot when you have family members using the service. We are getting constant 1.5mbs Speed only drops when it's raning or windy. Yes the speed does suck but it's the only service I can get. I have talked to customer support for issues like billing and a few technical, when they had to come and reinstall the Antena because it almost felled because of the high winds. But overall I been having good service but I guess the speed is constant because it's the slowest they offered. Sadly I will be leaving them soon because I just got a call from TWC and now they are offering cable and Internet because they are building a bunch of houses. Rock Solid in my opinion is been a great service for those of us who can't get a higher speed. read more

So Yelp has decided that my review was "unhelpful" and not "recommendable" This means that it does not even show up on their page anymore. Guess they want people to get ripped off by a scummy business resorting to unsavory business practices. I would not recommend this service to my worst enemy! I contacted Rock Solid Internet regarding providing internet service to my home in Pearsall, Texas. Installation occurred promptly after. Internet speeds were great for the first few weeks, averaging around 5 mbps download speeds. I was told about what great service I would be receiving by the installer, seeing as how the antenna was only approximately a 1/4 mile from my house and that no one else in the area used the service. After that, multiple problems began occurring. Service would cut out completely multiple times a day. Oftentimes requiring a complete reset of all available equipment, which is very time consuming. Speeds were also now much slower than promised/anticipated, ranging from 1-2 mbps., even though nothing had changed in relation to my home network structure. I called multiple times over the next few months, and spoke with tier 1 technicians, who were nice, but not at all helpful. They would have me reset everything in my home, try multiple setups (again, all very time consuming), and then always arrive at the same response, that they would have to forward the matter to tier 2. They also said tier 2 would be contacting me shortly. Each time, tier 2 did not contact me with any response. They did contact me once in December, stating that they had solved he problem and my speeds and connection should now be fixed. After returning home, I found their statements were not true, as speeds seemed worse than ever. Again, multiple calls to tier 1 support ensued, each ending with an unsatisfactory resolution of referral to tier 2. Finally, tier 2 did contact me again, stating that they had found the solution to my problem. Their response, "it was my fault". They had determined that I had 11 or so devices on my home network and this was why my connection was so slow. When I explained to the "technician" that this was not possible, as these devices had always been connected to my network, even when speed and connectivity were perfect, and all troubleshooting engaged in by tier 1 technicians had made sure to remove these devices during troubleshooting to account for that variable, he again stated that it was my problem. He said that they could send out a technician to look into the issue. However, I would have to pay for the trip if they found nothing to be wrong with their equipment. As they had already determined everything to be my fault, I did not have faith that a good outcome would occur and I did not want to throw any more money away. I told the representative that I would be canceling my service in the future. I was told that I had to do so by email. Shortly after than, I went to my computer to start researching alternate providers, I discovered that my internet was no longer on and had be disconnected. I called back into Rock Solid to inquire and was told that my service had been disconnected based upon my "request". I asked to have it turned back on until I could find suitable replacement and they refused. I feel that my many months of service have been nothing but lies upon lies, broken promises and deceitful business practices. This company should not be allowed to propagate these deceptive business practices upon the rest of the public. read more

I have Rock Solid Internet ... love it. Very few interruptions. I've had their service for two years now. I have no choice in Internet service providers, unless I want satellite ... which I do not. HOWEVER ... September 28th, I called Rock Solid to add TELEPHONE SERVICE to my account. They told me that it would be a week to ten days for me to receive the box needed to attach to my router. I ran out to buy the telephone and anxiously awaited the box. Two weeks later, I called again. I was told it was delayed because they had to program in a telephone number for me. A week later, I drove to their office in Castroville to speak to a human face-to-face. I caught someone going out the back door (the front was locked). He consulted his cell phone (email) and said he had no information for me. I called Thursday, October 16th, and was told the equipment had been mailed the day before (Wednesday, October 15th). I called today, Wednesday, October 22nd, and the man assured me that he had no idea what the problem was. He went on to ask ME, "What would you like me to do?" Really??? It will be FOUR WEEKS since I made my request for telephone service in two days. "I would like you to provide telephone service for me." I told him, "but it does not appear that you can do that. How about you locate one of those little boxes you are supposed to send me, and overnight it to me?" "Oh!" he said, "I don't think we can do that!" I responded, "It does not appear that you can do anything, then, does it." I wish I could find some one at Rock Solid Internet & TELEPHONE that knows what is going on, and why I cannot get service. read more

RSI is the worst internet provider I have ever experienced. Rock Solid it is not. I run a business here in Bandera that requires internet access. Unsurprisingly, the Internet went out Friday night. After two hours, I sent my workers home. Saturday morning, it was still down. The service has been down as long as 8 hours, but not 16. I checked my voicemail and email. Nothing. Then I remembered I had lost my credit card and it was possibly the one that automatically pays Rock Solid Internet RSI; so I gave them a call to update the card to the replacement. They're closed on weekends. They turned off the Internet on Friday night, but do not have anybody to take a payment or reconnect service over the weekend. Then why turn it off over the weekend? Why not email or make a phone call to customers whose cards were declined so they can call and update their card? I requested a call back on Monday; then immediately signed up with another slower, but more stable provider in the area to get us through the weekend. On Tuesday, I finally called RSI after not hearing from them. I got a smart-alec that simply cut me off when I was trying to politely explain what I needed. He claimed they sent five emails and doesn't have time to deal with people that don't pay their bills. I asked to speak to his manager. He said he IS the manager. Finally, he gets me somebody else that I do not believe was his manager because he says, "We sent you seven emails. I trained him. We don't need losers that don't pay their bills. We have 5660 subscribers and we don't need you. Get your Internet elsewhere. We are closing your account and coming to take your equipment away and WE WILL get it." Then he hung up on me. Huh? Simply because I said I'd like a call or email in future if this ever happens again because I need the internet to work for our business? Nevermind the fact that the two couldn't agree on the number of emails, I received none other than the original they send every month that said they were going to take the money. We are a wireless business and have been foolishly recommending this unprofessional company to our customers (during the short time it was stable.) We will be contacting them all to retract the recommendation. I hope for their sake they all unsubscribe. I will also be warning all of our customers that come in to avoid them at all costs. In all my years, I have never dealt with such an unprofessional company. UPDATE: After reading the below reviews and the owner's replies, I now realize it was the owner with whom I spoke. His replies to unhappy customers fit right in with his rude behavior towards me. "We don't want unhappy customers because we have plenty of customers. We don't need you." It also explains the NY accent that I had trouble understanding and the condescending, hateful remark about Texans he made that I left out above because it was so far over the top. All I can say is avoid this company. You will be sorry if you don't. Spend your money where you will be valued as a customer as opposed to unprofessional, childish people that know zip about technology. Reason it takes forever to connect to a web page? Proxy server that isn't setup correctly. If you stay, read about proxies and avoid them. It will improve your experience with RSI dramatically as long as you don't have to deal with the owner. Reasoned complaints or suggestions will merely get you shown the door. read more

We've had RS at a rural location near Bandera for a year now. Outages seem to occur at least once a month and last a half a day. The download rate is normally only a fraction of what we pay for (6 Mbps). It is typically 1-3 Mbps. If I try to stream a video the feed will detect the low rate and dumb down the quality to match; thus I don't live stream anything. It usually works ok for web surfing and email. I've never had satellite internet but I suspect that won't be any better. In Houston we had fiber with AT&T. It was 4-5 times as fast (consistently 12 Mbps) for 2/3 the cost. read more

Well, my service is down at least once a month and guess what, it always occurs on Friday night. Today it is down because it says my account is suspended for billing, although my payment hit the bank yesterday. And, typical, there isn't a damn thing one can do until Monday. Interestingly enough, NO ONE is answering tech support. I've called all the numbers including the 24 hour service and remain on hold for 30 minutes and then it just disconnects. I'm done with this crappy service and even worse customer support and service. Unless you have no alternative, don't get this service. read more

I am very pleased with the internet service of RSI but their billing and customer service dept. needs some help. After my installation and a charge was taken from my debit card I get an e mail that my acct. was delinquent after 2 weeks service. Contacted the billing dept and was told by a young lady that I owed for a full month after only 2 days service in Nov. The representative put me on hold and then hung up and cut my service off. I called back and spoke with Omar who corrected the billing problem and restored my service. There was some angry moments. read more

Ridiculous Company. They bought out Maverick Internet in Kerr County early this year, and now have run all of their clients off, including me. Today, I received an email from Ray Hunt, Sales Guy, telling me that my account has been closed for 2 months, that's why my internet wasn't working. Um, I've been on automatic billing since I've started with Rock Solid. He "told me" that they have attempted multiple automated phone calls and sent an email back in March. I informed him I have heard nothing from their company, and he told me I was wrong. Wow, great customer service! I just told him to come pick up their equipment if they want it back. There is a reason this company routinely gets bad reviews. Had them for 3 years and never got half the advertised speeds and that is only when the internet was working. They would loose signal and drop the IP address every other week. Absolutely horrible customer service as well. There is limited service where I am at and the attitude of this company seems not to care about there customers at all. The reason for leaving: Never received the service promised! I have had outdated equipment for years pointing to a location that gave us very little reception. Paid over $70 a month to receive better service which has not happened. Their own technicians say that I have been wasting my money because they cannot guarantee the service I am paying for. My neighbor asked for the same plan I have and was told he cannot have it installed because they cannot provide adequate service in or area. However, it does not seem a problem for them to be taking my money. I average less than 2.0 download and .035 upload. Working in the customer service industry for over 40 years I can say that this company ranks at the bottom. When do you use your home computer the most? At night and weekend right! Guess what - no support from anyone that knows what they are doing at this time because they are off. They tell you to call during the week 8-5... I have had this internet service for over three years now. When the service is up it's not great, but it's usable. In the past when I had an issue they were pretty good at being able to send someone within, at most, three days. I've even had a few instances in the past of same day repair. So, they were capable of good. So, around May 20, there was a storm that caused an outage within a few miles of my house. I called the next morning while the outage was still on simply to confirm that I was part of the outage. They had super high call volume. So, I got a call back about an hour later while I was on my way to work. The phone tech would have tried to troubleshoot if I was home, but an hour after I tried to call that was not the case. Anyway, I asked the tech if he could see if I'm connected to the tower that is affected by the outage. He said he would check and give me a call back. I never received a call back. I called four more times that day, the automated system set me up for four more callback. I never received any. That night, I get home and see that the outage is over. I go to check my service and it's still out. So, I call, I run through the troubleshooting steps with the phone tech and he determines that someone needs to be sent out to fix the issue. The next available appointment was on the 30th of May. Ten entire days later! The phone tech sheepishly credits me for the days my service would be out assuming I was about to explode on him. He made it sound like I would be credited for half the month. My monthly bill is just over $70. He gave me a $15 credit. On the morning of the 30th, I call to verify the time frame in which the tech would be there. The phone tech could not find a dispatch appointment due to her incompetence. So, she had me freaking out assuming my appointment was never scheduled. I told her that at this point I want to be credited for a whole month. She told me that her manager couldn't do that because according to my data usage chart, I wasn't down. Of course, I WISH it wasn't down. The manager said their charts showed data spikes after the 20th, and therefore I must be up, but they only emailed me the pictures of the month to the 20th, not the days after. So, I don't see how that proves anything. The phone tech didn't even bother to pretend to care about my issue either. At the start of the phone call she asked how she could help me, and I started explaining the issue and she kept interrupting me to get my name and such, and again, due to her incompetence had extreme trouble finding my account even though every other time I called, I don't even recall giving any info to the phone tech and they pulled up my account just fine. Here's the worst part: I really can't drop the service. There are not any suitable alternatives in my area. Everything else available to me would either be one of many companies that just use Rock Solid's towers, or it would be Satellite internet with a super low data cap. That said, if you are going to move to the Devine area, go with one of the many companies that use Rock Solid's towers so you can have better support. Or at least I imagine you would. My review is the same as Carlos J. I pay for 6mbps and get almost 3 on the download and .96 for upload. I tried to call and never got through. I sent an email and had no reply. Today I called and it too three calls to get throught to customer service over about an hour and a half. He then informed me I pay for "up to" 6mbps but can expect no better than 3. Again, he was apathetic about my frustration and basically made me feel like tough luck. In will now be looking for another service. read more

This by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced! They do little to aliviate issues and you can forget about a reduction in cost of service no matter how long it is down for and it is down often, gone down at least once for 3 weeks straight. Their signal is NEVER what is paid for, not even close. Their technicans are little more than Craigslist hires with little to no experience or knowledge, many times ive gotten COMPLETELY different answers to issues. If and when another ISP enters the market I will DEFINITELY be switching! If I could rate lower than 1 star I would. Their speed is poor at best .53 MGB download speed and .16 MGB upload speed and when you call customer service they put you on hold until you hang up in frustration. Not much of a bargain in my book. Since moving to Medina county we had very few choices for internet services; had to rely on Internet America until the time came when their services fell completely off. It too was a radio transmitter but the customer service refused to budge when I asked them if they could get me a better signal. They said they would but would cost me $100. I had previously heard good things about Rock Solid and I'm glad I checked them out. Excellent installation by a professional who was concerned about my ability to "hit" the receiver and provide us with the best possible service. These guys are winners in all categories, especially being out here without the high speed cable. I recommend you check these guys out. read more

We live in Bandera County, and were subscribers to Texxa, which were bought out by Rock Solid. This internet is very good for the country. It is much better than mobile phone internet, which we used for a while, before they started limiting downloads. The mobile phone hotspot we used to have rarely got up to the advertised speed, and often were about the same as dial-up. We suspect there is something wrong with the mobile phone towers out this way, but can't be sure of that. At any rate, Rock Solid Internet is way better than the mobile stuff. We get what they advertise 95% of the time, which is 1mb/sec for the plan we pay for. We did have some problems in the beginning (when it was still Texxa) with the router interfering with the receiver (both the same frequency and didn't realize it), but once their tech replaced our receiver with a different one, we've not had any real problems since. Sometimes the internet does drag in the evenings when there are lots of people home and probably streaming videos, but it is still better than the mobile hotspot. My brother-in-law lives nearby and has the same service, and they were fast to respond when their internet went out and were quick to get the problem fixed. I work from home and the 1mb/sec is plenty for me. The most important thing is that they don't have download limits. And BTW, without this internet, I couldn't work from home, which would be very detrimental to my financial situation. I really appreciate that they serve this community and do not have download limits. Satellite is out of the question with my work, because I would easily exceed the download limits in no time, that and my husband likes to stream videos. Thank you Rock Solid! read more

I signed up with Rock Solid 2 months ago, it has never been at the speed the advertise. I have complained numerous times and they blamed my equipment, even after replacing my equipment it changed nothing. I contacted them again about how slow it was and was told they would come out and check it but if they couldn't find a problem they would charge me 100 dollars. So i requested my service be canceled and was told they couldn't take disconnects from phone and id have to email them. So i agreed to email, i hung up the phone and went straight to my computer to email and found that they had turned off my internet. I called them back and they said it was a mistake even though they had previously stated they couldn't take my disconnect from phone. Not only is this the worst company I've dealt with, their tech support has no clue how to fix anything read more

Horrible, horrible! Techs are not knowledgeable. Calls are not returned despite repeated promises. I have spent many hours on hold. The billing office has refused to take my calls. Reportedly they are too busy to talk but will call back. No way does that happen! I am moving and want to cancel service. Product was alright. The customer service has been atrocious. Twice when Service went down I have called to schedule a visit. Technician took information down and then no showed after I had taken a day off. When I then called to ask why they had not shown up at my house they had no record of my calls and had not taken the information down so they were just giving me lip service. I gave it a 4 because it's Better than nothing. I live 35-40 mins out into the country. Atleast it works and it's unlimited. I can have multiple devices going at once. BUT it works when it wants to. Sunday is the worst day for us. I've had it for two years now and I've gotten use to it working real good and then kicking me off and then back on. Everyday it kicks me off and on. BUT we can watch videos and play Xbox live and PlayStation online. So it's better then nothing. There's no other internet available where I live. So I'm glad I have rock solid. I would recommend them. I do NOT like how rude customer service is though. And when I call about my service not working I don't get any kind of discount on my bill. AT ALL! I guess that's because their internet is always messing up. BUT atleast it works! And it doesn't stay off for more than an hour, most of the time. Unless the weather is real bad. Forget about the net working then. And if the wind blows to hard it messes up sometimes lol. But like I said. It's better then nothing! read more

But I'm really disturbed by the fact that they're blocking Yelp, and there are some other weird redirects happening when I surf the Web. I really wonder what kind of logs they're keeping. Well in response to rock solid, here is a true story from a senior active duty military member, so please RSI try and refute this one. I had RSI at an address in Natalia tx, was told I would be getting up to 15 meg never saw above 3-5 lost internet for over 3 months and was given a runaround by ray and everyone else that a ticket was and was not ever submitted through tech support, it was when a tech finally came to my house, he said the installation was crap, and never should have been done the way it was. I have screen shots I was asked to mail to the rep who did the work about my internet speeds, most were .5-.80 nowhere near 15 I was promised. I took a screenshot evey other day for the entire time. Then was told they would try and refund me for 3 months of basically no service NEVER happened SO tired of this company's BS I cancelled service in june, early, around the 7th still was charged for whole month according to their regs (not or sake of customer service and having no net for 3 months they could have waived the half month of 8mb speed, still charged for 15) BUT WAIT IT gets BETTER they charge me for JULY as well from auto payment they said was cancelled on June 7-10th I have called 5 times and was told my REFUND was being processed and should see a refund in a " few" days well its more than halfway thru AUGUST and STILL no refund for a month of service I was not even at the address billed for . ZERO accountability company, ZERO customer service 100% incompetent and that has to be from the top down was always being told " when the owners get in " is when things would get rectified I run the largest and only level 1 trauma center in the Department of Defense, I have over 400 employees and take care of them daily, I would gladly teach these idiots how to conduct business and that leadership leads from the front, not when they get in. read more

Long story short: Don't get this. If you have it, cancel your subscription as soon as possible. You will be wasting money. At times, you will be getting what you paid for, but more times than not, you might as well have dial-up. Rock Solid is a corrupt business. The company sprouted from a small town, so it's understandable that they would have lost focus on customer support after a while and started getting greedy. Here's what they do: They do give you what you pay for at first. This imprints in your mind that they are a reliable service. But the thing is, RSI has sections mapped out. At certain times, they cut internet to a certain section by a percentage, and pocket the money not used at actually giving customers what they paid for. So for example: 1 pm to 3 pm - Section 1's internet is cut by 50%. 3 pm to 5 pm - Section 2's internet is now cut by 50% while Section 1 is now receiving what they should be. These are just examples so you understand the game plan RSI plays by. There are most likely variations to it, cutting off more internet to more sections more frequently as they get more greedy. I have information from a high positioned employee. You will notice that at certain times, your internet will seem to do poorly at the same time, days in a row, or for a period of time. This is when they get lazy about switching up their routine. They will do this for a week or two, then switch the sections. Do not subscribe to this corrupt business. read more
