I've been three times now, and I have a bit of a weird like for Nanban, in that I usually prefer more traditional Japanese style ramen, but I have still enjoyed the fusion style food offered at Nanban. I've tried the Kumamoto Pork ramen as well as the Miyazaki Chicken ramen. I liked the Kumamoto Pork more. I've also found that the Jamaican hot sauce offered on the tables actually complements the ramen very nicely with a sour and spicy kick! It is quite spicy though, so be careful to test it before adding too much into your soup. In terms of appetizers, I've tried the Salmon Kake-ae, the Beef Tataki, and the Electric Eel. The Salmon Kake-ae was fantastic, with a very nice citrus-y flavour. The Beef Tataki is quite good as well. The Electric Eel was probably my least favourite as it was the least flavourful and a little bland. Nanban is definitely non-traditional style ramen, but the fusion Japanese/Carribean style works well in my opinion. Service has been good the times that I have gone. All in all, I'll probably continue to visit Nanban when I feel like eating in the Brixton area.

One would expect a bit of a makeshift event in the circumstances. Anything but! Our party was greeted with bubbly in a reception room and given time for all greetings to occur. We were assisted in setting up a picture slide show of many years of family vacations which ran throughout dinner which occurred in the privacy their Art Room - a perfect fit for our party. The set menu ample choices and presentation satisfied a quite varied palate and every serving was tasty, quality and cooked to desired doneness.. Wine consultation led to a pleasing and reasonably priced options. But - what set this experience apart was the service provided by the staff, from the Maître d' to bubbly server everything was seamless. I'm sure the short notice large party stretched their staffing considerably but you wouldn't have noticed from the timing of courses and topping of glasses. Angelica, in particular, lived up to her name - gliding around the table presenting and removing items. What most impressed me was there was none of the clatter normal now to most restaurants especially during large gatherings. I could go on but you will have gotten the idea. In the end, despite the chaos caused by the change in venue - we were fortunate to wind up at Villa Di Geggiano.
