I have to say, I was initially not a fan of the bouncer making a sarcastic comment to me, but I do appreciate that they actually enforce the line to get in, as opposed to other places that let people cut in line. Cheapest drinks in Broad Ripple to my knowledge read more

If you're a woman and you're out with your friends, do NOT go to Rock Lobster. Every time I have been there, my friends and I have been approached by creeps repeatedly. You can get cheap drinks anywhere else. Your safety is not worth it. read more

Service was terrible. I asked for 2 Miller beers and got served 2 Miller lites and when I said that's not what I ordered she wouldn't serve me and made me go to the other bar. Someone in my party complained and we got kicked out. Whole episode was ridiculous. We weren't loud or obnoxious at all. Just a novice bartender with an extremely short fuse. read more

Unequivocally the best bar in Broad Ripple. We experienced the first food served in Rock Lobster in 10 years. The kitchen is actually in their sister bar (another Broad Ripple gem) Average Joe's but the service was fast! Some of the best deals for drinks and best sticks in Broad Ripple. read more

Rock Lobster - Moz stixs - Dance Clubs Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

Not exactly a classy establishment by any means, but it is a place to dance in Broad Ripple! Very college vibes. No coat check. Place is bigger than then you think - there is a small "VIP" area and it connects to another bar that serves food. read more

Rock Lobster is the place to be on Friday and Saturday nights!! I am a Butler student, and Rock Lobster perfectly fits the needs for any college student that is on a budget but still wants to have fun in Broad Ripple on the weekends! They have great deals, such as $3 drinks of any kind until midnight on the weekends, making it very affordable. The space is large and has so many different bars, dance areas, and places to hang out and socialize, such as the outdoor area. The music is great, and the vibes are even better. The bartenders are very friendly and personal to the guests. I look forward to Friday nights at Rock Lobster for all of these reasons and more! If you are ever in the Broad Ripple/ Indianapolis area, make sure to stop by Rock Lobster! read more

Rock lobster is the place to go to if you want to dance! The drinks were okay not overly pricey like other place usually are. It even has a nice place to relax with a bar after exhaustion from dancing. Service was nice, bartenders knew how to make drinks good. read more

There were girls laying in the bathroom doing cocaine. Beer was spilled all over me. People were rude. I survived.

This is the kind of place I find myself at the end of the night when my words are slurring and I'm the only who thinks my dance moves are something to write home about. Yeah, that point in the evening where it seems totally acceptable to take a catnap on the toilet. Don't judge, I bet you've bobbed your head into a sleeping abyss in a dirty bathroom stall before. There is something dirty and sleezy about Rock Lobster that I both love and hate. I hate it because I'd prefer to have a little more room for my mad dance artistry and to maneuver from point A to point B without having the eager male attendance "accidentally" brush up against me. But! I love it because it achieves a nostalgic frat house party feel complete with hormone raging rap and sloshing drinks. Next time I'm craving some Sigma Chi or Lamda Chi Alpha, you'll find me at Rock Lobster. *Please note that I super-duper rarely take toilet catnaps these days... read more

The music sucks here. Every week, the same middle-aged white guy is the dj. i've never heard more outdated and lame music in my entire life. It's like he had zero idea about trends in music until 5 years after they happen. I'm begging rock lobster to hire a new dj. it won't mess with your business, i swear. we just want some good music. i beg of you. other than that, it's fine. pls rock lobster. i beg for a good dj. they can't be much more expensive. read more

Tipsy me loves the rock lobster, sober me looks at this place and questions, "Why?" It doesn't pick up until after midnight, which is usually way past my normal hours of function. The drinks are cheap if you go between 10-12 (~$3 any drink). They have a small dance floor, but works for the most part until it is so full you cannot move and are basically dancing with 4 different people at the same time. Let's be real, there will be another time where I think, "yeah, lets dance tonight" and I'll be back. read more

We went here last night for a night out. We got there early about 10 and it paid off it was slow. Great drink specials until midnight and the music selection was on point. The bathrooms were fine for a club setting. I would def go back. read more

My first and ONLY time going to this dump. The dance floor was small and surprisingly packed considering the music was absolute garbage. There was one specific bouncer that felt very entitled and kicked me out of "his" bar. I got up somewhere unsafe to dance and he came to tell me to get down. I listened and immediately got down. He proceeded to tell me that if I did that again I'd be kicked out. I said I was sorry and that I wouldn't do it again. But he continued to repeat himself in a very aggressive tone so I told him there was no need to speak to me like a child and that I did what he asked. This hurt his tiny male ego and set him off. There was no reasoning at this point even when I tried explaining that I'm in no way causing any issues. I made my way out and explained the situation to a couple other employees. They were kind and understood saying that he's just a hothead. I am the least confrontational person I know and for a bouncer to become so aggressive with me after complying, I genuinely felt unsafe. Maybe it was just my night gone wrong but I am not surprised at how many bad reviews they have. read more

This seems to be the super-drunk, late night, bad decision bar of Broad Ripple. At first it looks like a small, dark bar with a dance floor. Then you start walking towards the back and you suddenly end up in a twisted maze / cavern of bars and patios. There is definitely a demand and need for a place like this, but as someone who is over the age of 25 and usually not blacked out by 11 PM, it wasn't for me. In summary: Rock Lobster is good for: - Dancing - Staring at people dancing - Taking shots - Blacking out - Random hookups Rock Lobster is not good for: - Talking / socializing - Drinking good beer - Being sober - Finding long-term relationship material read more

They have a whack dress code even though they're a mediocre bar that acts like a club when they only have 15 people inside. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Apparently you can't wear sweat shorts or athletic shorts solely because their owner has a personal issue... read more

I went out tonight to the bars with all of my friends. We went everywhere in Broad Ripple but our last stop was Rock Lobster. I walked up in Khaki shorts and a polo and was turned away because I wasn't dressed nice enough. Meanwhile the bouncer begged all of my female friends to go in. I will never go back. Bouncers were pervs. read more

First time I ever came to this bar I walked inside and was greeted with the horrible stench of puke right inside the front door. I've worked packed grimy college bars in the past so I don't really expect much but this smell was unbearable that not many were in the front room. The bar setup is pretty cool I can see the potential in the bar. I haven't been in the area long so I don't know what it's like other than covid times. From other reviews it isn't the most sought after bar. Which is unfortunate because it seems like a good layout. I'll check this place out again sometime this summer hopefully have a better experience. read more

My 22-year-old self once loved and accepted with open arms the long wait to get into Rock Lobster on a busy Saturday night. It didn't matter if it was raining, snowing or blasting hot, I would stand my dumbass in this line to pay a $5 cover to dance on a small dance floor ....at ...1:30 in the a.m. Oh, those were the days. My 28-year old self would rather poke myself in the eye with a fork than go to this bar. So, the question is...why do I? Wellll, b/c somehow my friends always have the VIP hook up and getting served in the VIP lounge is SO much faster than the three OTHER bars they have in this place. Not only that, but now that they added a section where you can just chill with more calming music, the scene has slightly changed. Just close your eyes and keep walking...nope, keep walking ...ok, turn left...AHHHH there it is...the safe haven for the old people! It's perfect. A long stretch of bar, a couple of televisions and access to the outdoor patio without dealing with the techno-hoppin', bad MCing, 21 year old dancin' crowd out front. Be prepared for: Long lines, overpriced drinks, loud/bad music, a great outdoor area witha smallish bar, horny college boys, sorostitutes of all shapes and sizes, and egotistical bouncers. OH...to be young and 22 again. Those were the days! read more

My favorite bar in Indiana. Being from Michigan and currently living in DC, I've been in some weird places. Though visiting Indiana, I've noticed that the social life here is really different then anywhere I've been. People love to be in the Dive, drinking drank, but don't like to be in it. For instance, down the street at Brothers was an awesome DJ and everyone was drinking "Swamp Water" drink specials, but were not dancing and asking everyone else to dance. Weird, right? Well the cure to this social dilemma is Rock Lobster. Multiple bars in one, this place has EVERYTHING which I think makes everyone in it to spin it. You get crazy music, a slightly too small dance floor filled (rare from what I've seen in Indy), great drink prices, and pure animal craziness. Had such a blast here and going to recommend it to people going through Nap Town. read more

Horrible experience, male bartender was very rude. Place is dead. You can't be treating your customers like shit when they're the only ones in a restaurant. 5 stars for the great tent outside in the winter that makes this place HUGE. -2 stars cuz the drinks here are so overpriced--this is not Chicago, NY, or Cali PEOPLE!! 5+ for a bottle of domestic beer? um no thanks This place is great though, considering it's surrounded by other sleezy bars right next to it. It's a bit loungy too which I think is weird in the back, but bumpin in the front! The bathrooms need work, too. read more

Wow. I had no idea that I'd ever step foot in here. I mean, I dance, yes. I just dance to different drummers than what typically goes down here. I have to give them much credit for hosting a Broad Ripple Music Fest showcase -- Tapes 'N Tapes. With their intimate setting of a 6 foot by 6 foot, one foot raised, stage (think corner apartment patio), they gave me the opportunity to stick to my rules: be sure to find my favorite bands at bars & venues that are small before the bands move on to arenas & major festivals. With a ticket being 10 for a single show or 15 for the whole fest, it was economical. With Upland beer being the BRMF sponsor, local beer was at the ready. Albeit still a smoking establishment, most of the smokers lingered in the back near the open-aired second bar patio that felt like a house party -- and I liked that. I'd imagine it gets might smoky and sweaty on their regular club nights but I'll never be attest to that. I do have to give them credit for one more thing: their name. Bizarre. Eye catching. Kooky logo. Conjoining "Rock And A Hard Place" general store next door. I mean... at the very least they're adding absurdity to the zeitgeist of Broad Ripple Avenue conversations. Potential conversation: "I'm going dancing with Tracy, Trisha and Cujo at Rock Lobster." "Wait, you're friends with Cujo? The part time DJ?" "Yeah. He introduced me to the Hot Havana Crustation Nights at Rock Lobster." ... well... they should have a crustation night if they don't already... read more

Great late night spot for 21-25 year olds! A bar that you'd typically go past midnight...

Their bouncer is extremely aggressive and uses excessive force on female patrons. The bar itself is fun, but unfortunately this one employee has created a negative and unsafe environment for women. read more

Best experienced while extremely intoxicated. If you're less than totally wasted and/or over the age of 23 you will be annoyed out of your mind. But if you are young and drunk then you will have an awesome time. Plusses - more bars than Landsharks. Outdoor area. Chill lounge on the side. Cooler (temperature-wise) than Peppers. Minuses - tiny dance floor. DJ very hit or miss. Drink specials not that great. Hard to find people in the maze-y layout. Overall, for dancing I prefer The Vogue or The Red Room... but Rock Lobster definitely has its moments. read more

Most bars have some sort of scene or purpose. Some are for artisan beers, some are for a chilled out type of vibe, and there are even bars that attract people who get drunk enough to take the physical challenge and ride the mechanical bull. The Rock Lobster, however, has a laser-focused crowd: the late night, dance and hook-up scene. This is where you go to find the hottest members of the opposite sex as you round 'turn 4' in your night, where the dance floor lights up with wide-eyed opportunism after 1:30am. This is where clones wait in line to get into the place they know will have a dance floor packed full of intoxicated, fun-seeking people. Make no mistake, the 'Rock' is known as a place to go peep the talent. The music ranges from pop, to...pop. A mix of old and new, the goal here is to keep the dance floor packed once the bar gets packed. Trust me; they have no problem accomplishing this. It's pretty much a fun mix of mainstream top 40 (both old and new) music, and people, again, with a packed dance floor most weekend nights. You can still kick back and enjoy the scenery at one of the back bars (there are several) if you don't feel like being caught up in the mix of madness on or near the dance floor. Like any bar in this realm, you want to be courteous to the staff. They deal with a lot of crap from the crowds they get in there, so just be cool with them, and they will be cool with you. If you go in there and try to be Mr. Toughguy and show the world how cool you aren't, be prepared to get escorted out quickly. They will not approve of your behavior, and they are trying their best to keep the female crowd happy. This joint definitely heats up on the late night, and is much more enjoyable with a group of people. If you don't know people there, you'll look like a fish out of water if you're wandering around by yourself. The Rock Lobster will, no doubt, provide a great atmosphere for a fun night of dance party. Sometimes, mostly on Thursdays, they have local and regional live bands performing, which is a totally different scene for what the bar is on weekend nights. read more

Good atmosphere and strong drinks. DJ was awesome. Great place for dancing. Only bad thing is the smoking. People can smoke everywhere.

Went here to celebrate my birthday. Went to leave and peeked inside to see if my friends were coming up behind me. The bouncer shoved me to the point where I had to catch myself from falling. Not the first time the bouncers have been rude to me or my friends for doing harmless things. read more

Despite the fun times I've had here, it's not my favorite. I'm not sure why, exactly. I only go when a friend's/good band is playing, otherwise I never go. The drinks are good, not too expensive. Drawback for me: it's on the strip in Broadripple. That alone can be exhausting to me to navigate. I do like that during the summer, they have a back area that's pretty good sized. It's nice to feel like you're a little more out in the open and not so much stuck in a small smoky bar. Maybe this summer will be the summer I embrace my love for Rock Lobster? Mmmmaybe... Don't hold your breath. read more

Slightly better than it's almost identical cousin Landshark's (I don't know if the same people own these places, but if I'm not sure what would be worse? That the same person opened two almost identical bars or that there are two different people that would think this is an OK concept?) OK, Rock Lobster is bigger, has more seating/standing room, and an outdoor back area that most people don't realize exists. Those are it's merits over Landshark's. Other than that, it's the same tired music, the same creepy guys, the same d-bags and the same occasionally ghetto atmosphere. Although at this bar the bi-level dance floor gives you a chance to scope out a ton of really drunk people fighting over who gets to dance on the top platform and who has to stay below. The drink situation is a little better and Landshark's because there are more bartenders and more beer carts. But that is a limited consolation. I really hate the type of bar concept...Leave it out. read more

One of the handful of places that charges cover on a weekend to get inside its doors is also, ironically, one of the places you're most likely to feel like a sardine. This is where you'll find the uber-drunk girls and guys--you know, the dude who drunkenly leans on you at the bar, and the chicks whose barely-there wardrobe came from across the street at Slinky. Don't get me wrong--I do like this place. It's one of the best places for people-watching some of the more attractive people in the city. The tunes are pretty good, and the back was recently revamped to offer an enclosed-but-outside experience. In all, this place has about three bar areas. ...And yet, the main dance area is surprisingly small. I guess that's to facilitate more bump 'n grind. read more

There is always complaints about a certain bouncer that checks the ID's (everyone knows who I am talking about) I understand being strict with a bunch of drunk people around but this guy is so disrespectful. He wouldn't let my boyfriend in because we were laughing and joking with eachother and he said we were "too drunk". Mind you we just got there and each had one drink at kilroys before. He proceeded to grab me by my breasts and shove me out the doorway. I tried to get the cops involved but they wouldn't do anything. Sexually assaulted and they did nothing. There has been so many complaints about this guy and he still works there. Every time I go back to broad ripple I see him and want to cry. Very sad. read more

fun bar but the bouncer is a jerk. Stepped outside to check on a friend for 2 minutes then when I walked back the bouncer came after me, grabbed me by the shoulders, threw me out, and told me I wasn't welcome anymore. The management staff and the security are very disrespectful here. I was here a while back and my boyfriend went to go outside to get one of our friends that was outside, but when he was trying to come back in the bouncer at the door told him he was not allowed in. I honestly feel as though there was some type of underlying issues (race) as to why he was not allowed back in. We were not a rowdy bunch of people just came here for a good time and it turned into a horrible night. I would never in my life recommend any one to come to an establishment such as this that treat their paying customers like this. read more
