Visiting from another state, this place was recommended to go have drinks. Unfortunately, the visit didn't go very well. The bartender wasn't friendly. He put my bill in the bill fold and slammed it down in front of me so that I could sign it. Then he walked away quickly. It was a group of 4 of us visiting the place and I was buying the first round. I went early to get dinner with a friend. The mushroom Swiss burger is to DIE for! The chef came out to ask how the food was. So sweet! You can tell the food is made with passion and love! Perfect fries! So crispy and golden perfection! The fried mushrooms are also fantastic! Also a great place to go for a mocktail that won't cost you an arm and a leg! We sat at the bar and chatting with the bartender. Super great staff! It does get busy later in the evening! At least on weekends! And there will eventually be a cover charge! Metro is by far my favorite bar in Indy, and is usually the final stop my friends and I make on a night out. It gets pretty crowded, especially on the dance floor upstairs, but I've never felt uncomfortable or unwelcome. Best music out of all bars nearby. Bartenders are all kind and checked in on my friend/got her water when she was too intoxicated this past weekend. I've never ordered food here, but I'll update if I do. read more

We visited around 10:30pm Saturday night. Early enough to some food and shots before dancing. Have to highlight the security in this place, used to just be able to walk in around midnight and just do pat down. Now w new external security company it's easy to identify security, they're on both floors, and require id scan/photo at the front door. Feels v safe there!! I've been going to metro for years. It's always been a fun and safe place. I'm not really sure what's up with them now. It's just different. Recently went to one of their drag brunches. I love seeing the queens. However, metro's service was not great. The wait staff was rude, took forever to take our order and then another hour or so (just before the show was over) to get us our food. The whole thing was highly unorganized and not to mention the food wasn't great either. I guess I expect more since I've gone here for forever. But times change which is fine, but y'all have got to do better. Not to mention your "security" they're awful. read more

Writing an update review from my previous review from three years ago. Metro is honestly one of my favorite bars in the area. You can see people of all sorts, which is incredible. Gay, straight, bi, queer, and any- and everything in between is acceptable (just not being an ass). There's no cover, which is always a win. The drinks are always pouring and the liquor pours are quite heavy (and affordable). They have karaoke on Thursday nights if you want to get your weekend started early, and other special events going on throughout the week. Fridays and Saturday have great dancing on the 2nd floor. Other days of the week: it's for pool tables. The back patio area (on the first and second floors) are always great if you want to step away from the loudness and relax outside. I'm not a huge visitor of Mass Ave despite working fairly close to it. A coworker and her wife and I met here for a going away party of sorts. For a Friday night at 5:30, it was pretty quiet. We were one of maybe ten people in the bar. The bartender was very friendly! I ordered a plate of wings that were larger than expected -- very flavorful and juicy. I felt I should have paid more for the amount of food I got. I definitely could have split with someone if needed. This was my first time visiting and I'll be back at some point. read more

Great food, good environment. Best LGBT bar in Indy in my opinion. Has a dance floor, bar/restaurant space, and an outdoor patio. The dance floor could be a bit bigger, but I think that's the case at nearly every bar. Staff is friendly! I would most definitely recommend for all my gay ppl. Before COVID this would be a great place to have a drink and dance. In the light of it all, I think COVID has shined a light on their food. Metro has such great food that everyone should try out. They have indoor and outdoor seating as well as takeout. At the door they check your temperature and give you mask instructions, so I felt very safe (plus I'm vaccinated). I'm glad to see that they have been able to accommodate in this new normal we are in. read more

The food here is TERRIBLE. This is called night club and RESTAURANT yet the restaurant side has no idea what they are doing. Ordered nachos and the cheese wasnt even melted on top. Come one come all, hell just show up as you are. Conventionally located on Mass Ave, you will find Metro. This bar has as dual personality that depends upon what level your on. The first floor contains a full bar and dining area with comfortable bar chairs. The dining area transforms into a karaoke viewing area and depending on how the crowd is feeling the music a small dance floor on Tuesday and Thursday. If your not feeling the vibe, just head up stairs to the 2nd floor. This floor contains a smaller bar as well as 4 pool tables ($1 a game, quarters only). Amazingly there is also a smaller dance floor as well. If the weather is nice, there is a patio on the first floor as well as a small smoking patio on the second floor. I have only been here for drinks and the prices seemed decent for chilled fireball shots as well as an assortment of other mixed drinks. The servers are friendly. You might even catch them belting out a tune on Karaoke nights. One of the biggest pluses is that if you time it right, parking is free on Mass Ave after 9 PM Monday - Saturday and free all Sunday. read more

Metro was the first bar we stumbled across when we moved to Indianapolis and boy has it change in the past few years. The interior was completely redone about a year ago and it looks great. They opened it up nicely and during the cold season they usually have the upstairs open to relieve the crowds. Bars on both levels mean you never wait long for a drink. Food-wise, Metro is ok. Typical gay bar food. Nachos where the cheese is like one big sheet (still love them), and lots of fried things, not bad but not good. In the summer, the patio is a nice touch. They recently gave it a minor facelift and it looks nice. Great place in the spring to enjoy that first outdoor beer. The staff is always friendly and accommodating and efficient. Oh Metro, what a long and strange relationships we've had. With no lesbian/queer lady bars left in Indy, your second floor is the last similar space remaining. There's a patio upstairs, karaoke at different times in the weeks (I think Tuesdays), TVs for odd movie/CSPAN/debate/music video watching, and three pool tables on the top floor (when they aren't moved for dancing). The drinks are decently priced with regular specials worth considering. The bartenders/waiters have been good help in the past recommending good new things to try - be it shots bobs or full cocktails. The food is good and in small enough portions where you can try several things without being overwhelmed. I recommend trying a trio of sliders! I finally made my first trip to Metro recently, and wow, what a fun place! This bar is made up of two floors, with a bar on each floor. The first floor has plenty of room, with room for drag shows and other entertainment. The second floor has a moderately sized dance floor and DJ booth, and we found this area a little less crowded earlier in the evening. The drink specials on a Friday were quite reasonable, with cheap shots and mixed drinks abound. I wish there was more room to move, and there was a massive line when we came back later, but they're doing the best with the space they have! We had a really fun time here, and it was a bar I will definitely be stopping by again. Good crowd, good area, and good drinks. Just get here early or you may be waiting to get in. The entire Mass Ave area is a great stop in Indianapolis, and this bar is a must visit. read more

Strictly a walk up bar on Mass.Ave Been there before would enjoy it more if the parking was better, surprised that they didnt buy space for free parking, valet is not the answer! DJ on Friday 2/12 was TERRIBLE! It's been a slow decline of good music being played at Metro. They only play top 10 from the past 50 years, not much of any current music. The DJ's keep getting worse. Ah, the Metro. Where do I begin?! I've been frequenting this place for a few years now, and it seldom disappoints. It is a gay bar, but everyone is welcome. The drinks are strong and reasonably priced, and something is always going on it seems. Tuesdays and Thursdays are karaoke nights, Wednesdays are for poker tournaments, and one night is free pool. Things don't usually liven up until later in the evening, so it's great if you're looking for a quiet after-work libation or if you're looking to get a little wild. If you're not feeling what's going on downstairs, then head upstairs! They host a jukebox with a good selection of tunes as well as pool tables. DJs and dancing somtimes replace the pool tables which mixes things up a bit. In the summer, the Metro has one of the best patios. Ultimately, everyone should try out the Metro. read more
