I went early to get dinner with a friend. The mushroom Swiss burger is to DIE for! The chef came out to ask how the food was. So sweet! You can tell the food is made with passion and love! Perfect fries! So crispy and golden perfection! The fried mushrooms are also fantastic! Also a great place to go for a mocktail that won't cost you an arm and a leg! We sat at the bar and chatting with the bartender. Super great staff! It does get busy later in the evening! At least on weekends! And there will eventually be a cover charge! If you're there before that time then no cover needed! But awesome food! Cool vibe! read more

Visiting from another state, this place was recommended to go have drinks. Unfortunately, the visit didn't go very well. The bartender wasn't friendly. He put my bill in the bill fold and slammed it down in front of me so that I could sign it. Then he walked away quickly. It was a group of 4 of us visiting the place and I was buying the first round. Maybe he didn't want to fix 4 drinks at once. We never want to be in a place where we are not wanted. We discarded the drinks, left, and went to another establishment. read more

Truly disappointed by what I experienced here. Waited in line for 40 minutes, and when I was almost to the front, a group of people cut in line. I asked them not to cut the line, but they refused and insulted me. I informed 5 different employees of the group's line-cutting (2 people outside, 2 people at the host/cover stand, and one manager) and nothing was done. This is incredibly disrespectful to the majority of your customers who do wait in line. My friends and I will not be returning unless this is addressed. read more

Great bar! Super clean and the bartender was friendly and cared a lot about the drinks they made! Absolutely will be stopping back by again sometime read more

Metro is by far my favorite bar in Indy, and is usually the final stop my friends and I make on a night out. It gets pretty crowded, especially on the dance floor upstairs, but I've never felt uncomfortable or unwelcome. Best music out of all bars nearby. Bartenders are all kind and checked in on my friend/got her water when she was too intoxicated this past weekend. I've never ordered food here, but I'll update if I do. read more

The bar is awesome- the "security guard" is a different story. This guy is a representative of the bar and he made it look really bad this past Friday night. Wanting to pat down my friend and I then changing his mind, saying they're open then once again changing his mind. I've lived in this Indy neighborhood for years and was never treated like this by any business. read more

Two-level dance floor. Friendly, open-minded place, open late in Indy. Welcoming to gender non-conforming/trans people

Been going to Metro a few times this summer. I normally go for their club upstairs, but recently have joined friends for afternoon drinks and light lunch or dinner. I am glad that they are practicing safe distance and limiting the outdoor seating. My friends and I ordered our drinks and some food. I ordered the hummus platter along with my beer. It was a refreshing lunch. read more

Metro - a platter of food - Dance Clubs Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

We visited around 10:30pm Saturday night. Early enough to some food and shots before dancing. Have to highlight the security in this place, used to just be able to walk in around midnight and just do pat down. Now w new external security company it's easy to identify security, they're on both floors, and require id scan/photo at the front door. Feels v safe there!! Appreciated around this area Unfortunately less lgbtq people than there used to be. More drag shows and karaoke/open mic nights!! read more

Ok. So you should know what you are getting into before you come. It's a gay bar or very gay friendly. I love these places as I get free drinks all-night and get to be like "hell. No" not interested but still so much fu.n. Come here with the right attitude and you will have as much fun as me. read more

I've been going to metro for years. It's always been a fun and safe place. I'm not really sure what's up with them now. It's just different. Recently went to one of their drag brunches. I love seeing the queens. However, metro's service was not great. The wait staff was rude, took forever to take our order and then another hour or so (just before the show was over) to get us our food. The whole thing was highly unorganized and not to mention the food wasn't great either. I guess I expect more since I've gone here for forever. But times change which is fine, but y'all have got to do better. Not to mention your "security" they're awful. read more

Nice place to hang out, negatives are they charge $5 after 7pm. Well I got there one Saturday evening after 7pm and the place was empty and the front door person wanted to charge $5 for entry. read more

Heckled and blatantly disrespected by staff, mediocre drinks, much better places around to spend your time and money.

Definitely had a great time at metro highly recommend! The drinks and music were great and everyone there was super friendly it was just a great environment! read more

Writing an update review from my previous review from three years ago. Metro is honestly one of my favorite bars in the area. You can see people of all sorts, which is incredible. Gay, straight, bi, queer, and any- and everything in between is acceptable (just not being an ass). There's no cover, which is always a win. The drinks are always pouring and the liquor pours are quite heavy (and affordable). They have karaoke on Thursday nights if you want to get your weekend started early, and other special events going on throughout the week. Fridays and Saturday have great dancing on the 2nd floor. Other days of the week: it's for pool tables. The back patio area (on the first and second floors) are always great if you want to step away from the loudness and relax outside. They are a staple in the Mass Ave community and a door open for all. Thank you for all that you've been to the LGBTQ+ community in Indianapolis, Metro. read more

Nice bartenders and friendly patrons. One of the few bars we liked while visiting Indianapolis last week.

Friendly atmosphere, good music on Friday night. Does get crowded on dance floor but everyone is cool.

I'm not a huge visitor of Mass Ave despite working fairly close to it. A coworker and her wife and I met here for a going away party of sorts. For a Friday night at 5:30, it was pretty quiet. We were one of maybe ten people in the bar. The bartender was very friendly! I ordered a plate of wings that were larger than expected -- very flavorful and juicy. I felt I should have paid more for the amount of food I got. I definitely could have split with someone if needed. This was my first time visiting and I'll be back at some point. read more

Great food, good environment. Best LGBT bar in Indy in my opinion. Has a dance floor, bar/restaurant space, and an outdoor patio. The dance floor could be a bit bigger, but I think that's the case at nearly every bar. Staff is friendly! I would most definitely recommend for all my gay ppl. I will say a lot of straight ppl there on Saturday nights but for the most part they are all very respectful of it being a safe space for gays. read more

I love the Metro. It's a very diverse and accepting location (as are most places on Mass Ave). Drink prices are reasonable, plenty to do, karaoke, drag shows, DJ's, dancing, pool... nice patio area. The food is pretty good too! read more

Before COVID this would be a great place to have a drink and dance. In the light of it all, I think COVID has shined a light on their food. Metro has such great food that everyone should try out. They have indoor and outdoor seating as well as takeout. At the door they check your temperature and give you mask instructions, so I felt very safe (plus I'm vaccinated). I'm glad to see that they have been able to accommodate in this new normal we are in. read more

Friendly bartenders and cute crowd! I didn't try the food but it did look good. I will have to come here again.

The food here is TERRIBLE. This is called night club and RESTAURANT yet the restaurant side has no idea what they are doing. Ordered nachos and the cheese wasnt even melted on top. They literally poured nachos out of a bag into a to-go container and didnt melt the cheese. DO NOT ORDER FOOD HERE! You will regret it. Disgusting excuse for a restaurant. Otherwise the place has a cute vibe and its a great place to get drinks!! read more

Come one come all, hell just show up as you are. Conventionally located on Mass Ave, you will find Metro. This bar has as dual personality that depends upon what level your on. The first floor contains a full bar and dining area with comfortable bar chairs. The dining area transforms into a karaoke viewing area and depending on how the crowd is feeling the music a small dance floor on Tuesday and Thursday. If your not feeling the vibe, just head up stairs to the 2nd floor. This floor contains a smaller bar as well as 4 pool tables ($1 a game, quarters only). Amazingly there is also a smaller dance floor as well. If the weather is nice, there is a patio on the first floor as well as a small smoking patio on the second floor. I have only been here for drinks and the prices seemed decent for chilled fireball shots as well as an assortment of other mixed drinks. The servers are friendly. You might even catch them belting out a tune on Karaoke nights. One of the biggest pluses is that if you time it right, parking is free on Mass Ave after 9 PM Monday - Saturday and free all Sunday. read more

Metro was the first bar we stumbled across when we moved to Indianapolis and boy has it change in the past few years. The interior was completely redone about a year ago and it looks great. They opened it up nicely and during the cold season they usually have the upstairs open to relieve the crowds. Bars on both levels mean you never wait long for a drink. Food-wise, Metro is ok. Typical gay bar food. Nachos where the cheese is like one big sheet (still love them), and lots of fried things, not bad but not good. In the summer, the patio is a nice touch. They recently gave it a minor facelift and it looks nice. Great place in the spring to enjoy that first outdoor beer. The staff is always friendly and accommodating and efficient. This is a great stop on any trip to Mass Ave. read more

A great location on Mass Ave. Metro wears many hats. The downstairs can be a quieter hang out style bar, whereas the upstairs turns into a techno club with DJ, dancing, pool table, darts, and bar. They have an outside patio and serve food until 2am which is good if you've already been out on the Avenue all day long. At times, they even host live performers. Their prices are some of the most reasonable on Mass Ave. read more

Cheap drinks and the literal best steak quesadilla I have ever had. I recommend the Kool aid shots! Great spot to have in Indy!

Great sandwiches. We tried the tenderloin and a Holy Cross slider. The onion rings were good too. Service and prices are also great. read more

Oh Metro, what a long and strange relationships we've had. With no lesbian/queer lady bars left in Indy, your second floor is the last similar space remaining. There's a patio upstairs, karaoke at different times in the weeks (I think Tuesdays), TVs for odd movie/CSPAN/debate/music video watching, and three pool tables on the top floor (when they aren't moved for dancing). The drinks are decently priced with regular specials worth considering. The bartenders/waiters have been good help in the past recommending good new things to try - be it shots bobs or full cocktails. The food is good and in small enough portions where you can try several things without being overwhelmed. I recommend trying a trio of sliders! Go have a well poured drink and a snack and enjoy! read more

This place is always my go to when I come downtown Indy. Located on Mass Ave, Metro is a great place that is welcoming for everyone. Great drinks and music on Friday and Saturday. Come dance your hear out or hang at the bar and just relax. Karaoke is available on Thursdays! read more

My boyfriend is from Indianapolis, and we always end up at Metro to my great delight. This is like Greg's where you can just feel how instrumental this establishment has been to the LGBT community of this city. Carpetted floors. Mixed crowds. Live remixed music. This is what I want to always remain as gay bars. Keep it coming, Metro. read more

I finally made my first trip to Metro recently, and wow, what a fun place! This bar is made up of two floors, with a bar on each floor. The first floor has plenty of room, with room for drag shows and other entertainment. The second floor has a moderately sized dance floor and DJ booth, and we found this area a little less crowded earlier in the evening. The drink specials on a Friday were quite reasonable, with cheap shots and mixed drinks abound. I wish there was more room to move, and there was a massive line when we came back later, but they're doing the best with the space they have! We had a really fun time here, and it was a bar I will definitely be stopping by again. Good crowd, good area, and good drinks. Just get here early or you may be waiting to get in. The entire Mass Ave area is a great stop in Indianapolis, and this bar is a must visit. read more

Had a great time here. Small portions for food but it was good and honestly plenty to start partaking in cocktails with. The staff was fun and upbeat and this was on a Tuesday! Karaoke was fun and the whole experience was great. I'll be back the next time I come to town! read more

21st birthday tonight jt gets fun at 10 don't agree with ur DD to leabe at 10:30 i neeed a few more characters. drinks are strong wooo

When people are drunk, and it's been decided they need to be cut off, I respect that decision. I don't respect the decision to not allow them to sober up before you tell them to leave (especially when they are respectful and not causing a disturbance). I'm in the business and that's on you if you tell them to leave drunk and something happens to then. And to be rude about it is beyond me. I'm sure I'm not the only 50-100% tipper in there, but you're down one of them. read more

Strictly a walk up bar on Mass.Ave Been there before would enjoy it more if the parking was better, surprised that they didnt buy space for free parking, valet is not the answer! Most of the dives on Mass have valet which is ridiculous. Most people tell me they would go but the parking stinks, I agree. read more

Ah, the Metro. Where do I begin?! I've been frequenting this place for a few years now, and it seldom disappoints. It is a gay bar, but everyone is welcome. The drinks are strong and reasonably priced, and something is always going on it seems. Tuesdays and Thursdays are karaoke nights, Wednesdays are for poker tournaments, and one night is free pool. Things don't usually liven up until later in the evening, so it's great if you're looking for a quiet after-work libation or if you're looking to get a little wild. If you're not feeling what's going on downstairs, then head upstairs! They host a jukebox with a good selection of tunes as well as pool tables. DJs and dancing somtimes replace the pool tables which mixes things up a bit. In the summer, the Metro has one of the best patios. Ultimately, everyone should try out the Metro. read more

Metro is on the heart of Mass Ave close to a number of great places. If you are looking for love music, look no further. Fridays seem to have live music and pretty good drinks specials. There are two levels at Metro. Downstairs has a bar and dinning area. It tends to be a bit more quiet so you can have a few bar bites with friends. They have a pretty selection. I personally like the nachos, just ask for extra salsa. Upstairs is the pool table and dance floor. There is also a bar and you can order food as well. The music tends to be more dance music! The best part of Metro is the outdoor patio. It's a great place to sit and relax as the sun goes down. The staff at Metro is very friendly. The crowd is pretty mixed - guys/gals, older/younger. No one is pushy! They take credit cards which is a plus and they have pull tabs! Maybe you will get lucky! read more
