I ordered 2 new windows from Rochester Colonial to be installed in my soon-to-be renovated kitchen. The timeline was very tight, but Chris Giunta (Rochester Colonial sales consultant) stayed on top of the order and my new windows were received by Rochester Colonial 3 weeks prior to renovation start date. The 3 installers (Jake, Jonah and Chad) did an awesome job installing! They prepared the area so as not to have dust and debris extend beyond the kitchen area. After installation was complete, the area inside the new windows was steeped and vacuumed. I was shown how the windows operate and the film on the windows was removed and the windows were carefully cleaned. All the old window material was hauled away. Great job! read more

When we ordered windows for our house last year we investigated several different window manufacturers and installers. We picked Rochester Colonial and are very happy that we did. The windows replaced older worn-out casement windows, the new windows are very energy efficient, made from durable materials and are a joy to operate. The installation process went very smoothly. The installers, all employees of Rochester Colonial not contractors, were highly skilled and very pleasant to work with. They left the windows spotless and the work areas were very clean. Both during the install process and afterwards. I would also like to mention that the salesman we worked with, Doug Decker, was very helpful is ensuring that we had exactly the right product and was very careful to make sure all of the details of the order were correct. Toward the end of our recent very cold snap, my back door frame had swollen and the door (purchased from and installed by Rochester Colonial) would not even close. Quite satisfied with the result for our project - we replaced old aluminum windows with wooden FoldUp windows from Rochester Colonial. We were interested in their mechanism which allows the pane to fold up toward the ceiling, resulting in a large opening ideal for this converted front porch. The company is based in NY, but was patient and helpful working with us and shipping their product to California. We customized colors and grid pattern, and went back and forth with a local window contractor to ensure fit and that their product would work with our sash and sill setup. (Thanks WDMremodels!) Shortly after our order, the 12 week estimate got buried in shortages and delays - everything ground to a halt. I've discounted a star because I spent a few months in the dark trying to chase up any sort of a timeline. The sales guy who took the order disappeared. Eventually Joe M picked up my info and would periodically answer to explain the delays with their supplier. Kudos to him, I was worried for awhile that my deposit had vanished into a black hole. All of that is not the companies fault, and they are obviously frustrated by these challenges too. In summary, I liked how this product turned out and the folding windows are great, they look just like our other double hung windows but allow you to really open up the room. Thanks RC! read more

A few years ago, we ordered approximately $12,000 in storm windows. Is a 140+ year old house and we requested installation of frame+storm window held in place with "clips". Windows were installed as promised and we were satisfied. A couple years go by and one window falls out of its frame and smashes. The problem is the clips used to hold the storm window in are deteriorating rapidly. I paid for the replacement of the new glass window and Roch. Colonial said they would send me newer (updated) clips (one employee admitted that they had issues with some clips). Never received any follow up, or new clips. I called last week to discuss-left message-no response, hence my post (and low rating) on here. read more

We contacted seven companies for quotes on work to be done. Only Rochester Colonial and one of your competitors responded and Comfort Windows could not do the job. Kate Reina got back to us within hours of our online inquiry and was so totally professional and caring. Chris came out to give us an estimate and we ended up having more work done than originally planned because Chris is so informative and helpful. Matt Foley professionally and carefully installed two new screen doors (including the phantom screen!) and a new window in one of our bedrooms. Just superb work! Everything negatve the previous reviewer wrote is true. My wife and I were purchasing thousands of dollars in new windows (which we did at another company). The salesman was pompous and nasty aggresively complaining about the quality of the windows on my home. I could have easily defend my home, but why should I? Bottom line is I will never buy from this company after that conversation. By the way, there was a time in the 90's that I usedf to purchase 10's of thousands of dollars from this company. We were so glad that we chose Rochester Colonial for our home replacement window project. From Nick Sirianni our sales representative who answered all of our questions, and explained the advantages of choosing a fiberglass product rather than vinyl. He also explained the increased Energy Savings we would receive from a Full Window Installation. Bob Plumber the Installation Coordinator kept us informed as to when our materials were being ordered, and what date the installation would begin. On the morning of the installation Matt, the team Supervisor along with Tony, Justin, and Nick showed up promptly in the agreed arrival window. Matt explained the goals for the day, and he and the team surpassed all of them! They were very friendly, and covered all of our flooring, and furniture before beginning work They worked so efficiently that they completed the total Install of 15 windows within two days. We purchased a house in Pittsford in '08 and it had new windows installed in '06. We have had 5 windows replaced under there warranty. Now the said the warranty is over and we need 3 more windows replaced. I don't recommend this company due to the fact I'm having to replace windows almost every other year. I have a lifetime warranty but they told me it doesn't apply. I even have the paper work! read more

We had an emergency *on Christmas eve* and they came out and fixed the windows. Way to go, Rochester Colonial!

I brought my mother in to look at a replacement sliding door for her condo. We waited about 30 minutes for the couple ahead of us to conclude, but then the salesman - who absolutely knew we were waiting - chose to serve a man who had just walked in. I signaled to him and he acknowledged me, but then returned to the newcomer. (We should have left then, but sunk costs...) When he did speak with us, he was condescending and absolutely dismissive of my mother. He was maybe 10 years younger than her, tops, but treated her like an addled old lady. It was infuriating. He interrupted her, *incorrectly* corrected her math, and told her she would need to come back once she had the permission of the condo's HOA. He quoted her upwards of 4k for a new door but wouldn't outline any specifics, and when I said "why don't you outline the specific information you need from the HOA so we can gather that and come back," he suddenly concluded he had the info he needed and could proceed with the sale. Except we left and she got an entirely decent door at Lowes for $1,850. The saleman's behavior cost him a sale. read more

My wife and I have - over time - replaced just about every window and door in our house with products from Rochester Colonial. Living in a century-old house, this presented challenges, as the frames were not always in square. We established an early rapport with our salesman Phil Gionta, because he was courteous, professional, knowledgeable, and interested in our business. The follow-up visits to recheck our measurements were always done quickly. The products we've bought and had installed were top quality in both structure and workmanship, and we've never had a single issue with anything that Rochester Colonial has done for us. They are not the least expensive window and door replacement company in town, but frankly, with something as important as windows and doors, we haven't been disappointed - and don't think anyone could perform the work as well as they have. The entire Rochester Colonial experience, from working with sales through the installation, was top notch. Our home is 26 years old and was in need of replacement windows and a door. I went to Rochester Colonial to inquire about a large, decorative window to replace an older one. I wandered around the showroom for a few min., until I was approached by a salesman who slowly looked me up and down, clearly assessing my lack of ability to spend money there. I was wearing an academic hoodie and a pair of jeans and garden clogs, so I must've looked like a vagrant in his eyes. He didn't really make an effort to answer my questions and spend much time with me, but did enjoy staring at my boobs the entire time. In net, my experience at Rochester Colonial was that of a dirty old man who didn't take my business seriously. I needed to get a large window replaced in a bedroom. The window was very old and cracked. I dealt with Matt at RC on Jefferson Road. He was very helpful and great to work with. The window was installed 1/23 and the installer's name is Dan. He was amazing! He was efficient and did a wonderful installation. Every thing was cleaned up and no mess at all. Called about having a window fixed that was previously installed through them. Called and set up apt for them to take a look, no one ever showed up for the apt. When I called they didn't have me scheduled for anything so he said he would send a guy over in a few hours. Well that time frame came and went and I never heard from anyone. Then after the scheduled time frame a guy called saying he was on his way, I said ok. A not so friendly guy showed up and took a quick look at the window and said he would call with A quote for me, it has been weeks and I have yet to hear back from the company.
