I'm not exactly sure why there are negative reviews for McKenna's but, I've used them for a total bathroom remodel and new kitchen counters. I did the demo and the install of the bathroom mysef. The supplys were of high quality and the customer service was very good. The kitchen counters (Granite) and new sink and faucet were all of the highest quality also. They have their own professional counter installers which I never could have done myself since they were granite. They installed the under mount sink. I installed the fauctet. McKenna's completely remodeled our kitchen about 4/5 years ago (took down two walls, gutted and rebuilt). The two guys that did our kitchen were fantastic each day! We've been very satisfied. Recently, a seam was pulling away from where the newer and old drywall ceiling meet. I called the main guy in charge of crews- George. He came out. Took a look and said, I'll get my guys here to fix it, no problem. Sure enough, they came to take care of the issue and they even repainted the entire ceiling for us. No questions asked. If you are looking for a responsive, honest and customer service oriented contractor, look elsewhere. McKenna's kept us in the dark for 3 months, refusing to respond to emails or calls. Finally learned that their Henrietta manager and our sales rep had left but never bothered to follow-through. Sent complaint to company manager at other location, again, not even courtesy of response or apology. Must run in the "familoy." We were told of supply problems initially, but customer service should not be in short supply. We have cancelled with them and will seek out someone who cares. read more

Purchased a new porcelain tub, vanity, toilet and all new fixtures for our main bathroom from T McKenna's. We are extremely pleased with all of it. We just couldn't find the quality at the big box stores and the prices were similar. I'm not sure why someone would go to a big box store when you can get one on one service from a place like McKenna's. If you want a flimsy banged up piece of junk or are going to flip a house, then go to the big box store. If you plan on staying in your home or are fixing a nice home up for sale, you should at least check out T McKenna's. There's no better selection or service in Rochester. Plus, they have the great installers and plumbers. read more

Went in for an estimate on kitchen cabinets. I was talked down to from the start. Without even looking at plans I was quoted pricing from 40k-70k for a total install. I was pressured to buy/pickout backsplash materials and flooring even though i indicated multiple times that I was not interested in buying those from them.I just inquired about cabinets and counters. After finally getting our saleswoman to agree to quote we left. Have not heard from them in over 2 weeks. Save yourself the time a skip this place. They really provide the worst customer service. read more

Recommendation for McKenna's is Way Over Rated! We've just wasted an entire month waiting for a response back from McKenna's to redesign and renovate a bathroom; a cash job that we expected would run about 30K. They spin their wheels after several weeks... no call backs... no follow-up... just to tell me they didn't want to do the job. Some BS about not wanting to do a job in the city of Rochester because of issues with permitting. Very poor customer service from designer Kimberly Martin and a horrible reflection on McKenna's as a whole. They should have notified us much earlier to at least give us time to find another contractor. With a good faith communications, I would have considered purchasing materials from their shop. I'll never spend another dime at McKenna's. read more

I had gone to the Fairport showroom to discuss a small counter project and was met by an employee who made it quite evident they had no interest in discussing my project but clearly did not want to earn my business. I left feeling that unless you are a complete gut and remodel project to hire them to do, they do not have the time nor the interest in working with you. read more

I had problem with my kitchen sink drain. I called McKenna Fairport for plumbing assistance @ 8 AM. Mike came @ 11:30 diagnosed the problem - more involved than originally anticipated. He went to work, had Eugene come by to determine if problem also involved septic tank problem (no), and systematically made corrections to resolve problem. Because the problem was more involved than originally anticipated, Mike & office staff adjusted their workers schedules to allow Mike to stay until the job was done satisfactorily by 4 PM. I have used McKenna services before, and recommend them highly to others. FIVE STARS. read more

Horrible experience with salesperson, Matt. He was condescending, outright rude, and basically drove me right out of the store. He scoffed at my $10-15K budget, yet had no idea as to the size of my kitchen or any features I wanted in it. Almost made me cry. Will never set foot in there again. read more

Very disappointed in the customer service provided by McKenna after having replaced a toilet with them. ( Almost $700 ). Less than a year later, the slow quiet close feature on the seat stopped working. I had to cajole to have them replace and install the ( still-under-warranty ) seat. Less than a year later, the replacement stopped working. This is in a one-person household with long snowbird absenses. I stopped in to the showroom to get help. No one called me back, as had been promised, so I called. And called again. Scott told me he would check with the manufacturer.( I consider that I am his customer, and would expect to be assisted regardless of the manufacturer's stance. ) I am still waiting, three months later, for word from McKenna. I just ordered a new seat on Amazon and will find a way to install it myself. So much for shopping local. The big boxes probably would have been cheaper and better. read more

It does not get any better. Had never dealt with them but I called in for an emergency hot water heater replacement. Had shopped around and they were $210 cheaper than the next least expensive option. I was skeptical but knew they had been around for a long time. They did not disappoint. Installed for what they quoted and had it installed within 3 hours of my call. The plumber was awesome as was Dan in the office. Do not hesitate to use McKenna's Plumbing! read more

We recently worked with McKenna to renovate our kitchen and two bathrooms. The entire experience, start to finish, could not have been better. Every person involved in our renovation (designer, contractors, plumbers, etc) was completely professional. It was so nice to see that they all had a great deal of pride in their work. The renovation went smoothly with no "surprises". We could not be happier with the final product and would absolutely work with McKenna again in the future. Everything started out great, quality of goods is excellent. We had a poor experience with our salesperson who was confusing and difficult to work with. When we met for what we thought was the final time he actually had the wrong name and address on our invoice. So instead of doing a new invoice he just crossed out the name and added ours? We had to go back multiple times to the store as he forgot things. The folks that did work on our house were excellent and very nice, my only complaint is we don't think they were given proper time to do the job. The person that worked on our house said he voiced his frustration to the owner on this salesperson. We then find out we were over charged (we should have caught it). The office admitted it made a mistake, but then took over two weeks after the work was completed to send us a check. This after multiple calls to the office.The manager at the Winton office was helpful and truly felt bad. Unfortunately a salesperson is a reflection of the company. We would never come back or recommend to anyone who would ask us for a reference. read more

I hired McKenna's to remodel my kitchen. It involved extensive work including carpentry, plumbing and electrical. The work started the exact day they told me they would begin. The carpenter began taking out all the old cupboards, soffits and flooring. He put plastic sheeting up to help with the dust. I always got a phone call in the morning from the carpenter letting me know he was on his way, which I appreciated very much. I also had some rewiring done for new lighting and outlets. The electrician asked me where I wanted the new lights, switches etc. I also needed plumbing work done, installing a new sink, dishwasher, disposer, water filter and refrigerator water line. What I appreciated was that everyone cleaned up any mess there was at the end of the day with a Shop-Vac or broom. This included the garage as well, making sure there weren't any nails left on the floor. They were very respectful and considerate, and answered any questions I asked. The job foreman was great to work with. If there were any concerns or something I wanted him to look at, he was over within 24 hours, and took care of anything that needed to be done. The overall experience with McKenna's Kitchen & Bath was excellent, and I would recommend them to anyone that needs remodeling or plumbing work done. They will now be my go-to plumber as well. Also, I have a 10 year old Labrador that loved everyone from McKenna's, she actually missed seeing everyone, once the job was done. read more
