We wanted an 8 ft. Piece of granite without a seam for our island. There are seven stairs on the outside of our house to reach the second floor kitchen. We tried a couple of other companies, but could not get it without a seam right down the middle ! Then we went to Upstate; they looked at our drawing and said 'no problem'! We were elated! One week later, they delivered our granite top (jn one piece) through snow at our house and up the seven stairs! Their crew of 4 healthy men did a fantastic job...it is beautiful!!! We shopped for a new countertop for almost a year. We studied and researched various options. Upstate Granite and Marble was amazing from the very beginning. Our sales associate went out of her way to meet our needs. She was able to send us home with a sizable piece of the same lot quartzite so we could see it in our lighting, with our cabinets.... The technician that came to measure was meticulous, talking us through the process. We were invited in to see how our CAD would lay out on the slab. A second associate conferred with us to ensure the best veining layout. Each time we received a phone call prior to the appointment to ensure we knew what to expect and how to be the best prepared. Today my counter was installed. It is beyond beautiful. The installation crew was off the charts. They were careful, respectful, the attention to detail was outstanding, the cleanup thorough. This place is fantastic! I ordered granite for my kitchen - and the results are flawless. First - I was impressed with their prep work. An employee came by with a laser on a tripod to get exact measurements. Obviously it worked great - there are no gaps. Questions and concerns were answered on the spot. Next - they have you go by their shop on BHTL to show you the slab, how it will be cut, and communicate any seams. On installation day the whole process took about 2.5 hrs with three guys. There are so many horror stories on the internet detailing crappy seams, dust from cutting stone in the house, edges not meeting the wall, etc. These guys were on their game - When one employee cut in the house the other was by his side with a shop-vac to catch the dust. I've got a peninsula piece measuring 73"x90" with one seam perfectly placed by the middle of sink. Absolutely no spaces in between walls and granite. Just a flawless job. Period. read more

We are very pleased with our granite countertops from Upstate. The men were all courteous and friendly. They took the time to line things up and asked our opinion on how we wanted the backsplash cut. They did come when they said they would for the fitting and install. The only thing we may give as advice is having the installers take a little more time and not so rough on the cabinets. Also, maybe it would be a good idea if you are choosing a more common granite that a customer still be able to come see the slabs. I'm not sure that we would have chosen this granite had we been able to see other choices to change our mind if need be. read more

Several years back I purchased a granite vanity top (with porcelain sink) for our bathroom. We procrastinated installing it and then decided to sell the house. The vanity top traveled with us to the new home. Of course, as life would have it, the top did not fit in any of our bathrooms. The granite was very light in color, and looked similar to marble, so I held on to the top in the hopes that we could use it in a future remodel. Just for kicks I called Upstate Granite to see what the cost would be trim the the top to fit. The receptionists answered a few of my questions and then passed me on to a gentleman. He asked me very specific questions and gave me a quote over the phone. He told me if I dropped it off that afternoon, it could be completed by the following day. After chatting with the husband and and making further measurements, we realized more trimming would need to occur. We took the top over. The same guy (sorry, I can't remember his name) was available. He asked questions to get the full scope of the project, then advised us on the best solutions. He did end up trimming and polishing the top for us -- in less than 20 minutes. The piece is now installed and looks great! I can't compare prices, as Upstate was the only granite company I called. Their showroom is quite attractive, so I imagine I could have found a smaller place, with less overhead, to do it for less. However, I was pleased and would most likely return to them if I had future granite/marble needs. read more

Where do I begin. I choose Upstate and granite because of the previous owner who though very direct seemed knowledgeable and paid attention to detail. I guess from my first initial meeting through installation things didn't go as smoothly as expected but we paid any additional fees that we were asked because we had already committed. Fast forward to the morning of installation we were told they needed to reschedule as the truck had broken down. I was very direct and made the admin assistant who remained professional and apologized aware of how frustrating this process has been. She was able to get them to come out that evening which is when the nightmare began. They installed the countertops and had to place risers due to previously installed backsplash. This was agreed and confirmed at initial consultation. The issue began when they placed the riser without securing the countertop or riser. The next issue was the under-mount sink which was supposed to be flush had an obvious protrusion and when questioned about stated it was fine. I am not sure why the numerous nonchalant responses, but they were very cavalier about the installation and left the counters as is. I and my husband was astounded and spoke with Brian about coming back and re-securing the riser and counters as I was afraid it would tip. Brian was very polite, and in-fact came back out at our request. Let's just say they came back out and placed silicone along the sides of the few risers they installed but again when asked stated that the counter wouldn't have moved and is secured by the walls it sits between. I asked again about the sink and was told its fine. My husband and I went back and measured and realized the counter was slightly slanted. We called again and politely Brian agreed to come out and fix it. Needless to say, I felt as though I had to babysit the "experts" . They came out to address the sink in the island but slightly lifted the counter dragging along the island which ruined my cabinet. Honestly, at this point I was over this and again baffled that this company who appeared to pride itself on customer service and expert would not see the poor work they did. It was hurried, not at all neat in addition other concerns. We decided to just let it be and personally rectify the issue. Currently we will have to caulk between counter and side wall as there are gaps, but my husband has asked not to contact them for the lack of quality work. I was very disappointed in the quality of work as I was promised something much different and paid a hefty fee. I am skeptical as to the number of installation this group of individuals have performed because they appeared a bit loss. I gave 3 stars because they didn't appear aggravated by the multiple times, I requested them to look at the work and always was pleasant. With this being said, I would have taken someone who is brash but took pride in their work instead of having to go through what we did and continue to. read more

In my opinion this place does not meet the standards that it takes to be in customer service. From my experience they were going to use left over pieces from someone else's kitchen to complete mine & acted as if they were doing me a favor. The time frame they stated one day was not the same the following day once they looked at the actual schedule, a larger retailer would get the job done in the same amount of time, well in my case actually sooner. The pricing they quoted me was the same as larger retailers who are letting me choose my slab and is my own not from someone's left over kitchen and charging me the same price for it. The gentleman I spoke with was very rude when I gave push back on the dates. In my opinion I do not recommend this retailer for someone who doesn't want to be treated poorly for not agreeing with everything someone says... This is the first negative review I have written for a company as I am very easy to please. They did not understand the fact the home was in fact mine, or maybe it's because they were so busy trying to sell me a left over piece that they needed me out the door. Doesn't it in fact seem strange to a consumer that the company is trying to blame the client for there wrong doing? Why would my parents not purchase the piece if they fell in love with it for their home? That's correct because I was the consumer and they were too busy trying to please my parents and not the person who made the final call, but I ensure you many people I have spoken with are not pleased by this company either. read more

We purchased granite for our kitchen and it is absolutely beautiful! The customer service at Upstate Granite is the best we have ever experienced. From the owners, to the employees, and Tammy who helps you in the showroom, you can't find a better group of people. The employees installing the granite were respectful and very neat. We also used their plumber, Sam, who went above and beyond to help us solve an issue we had. We were so impressed with their work, we decided to pick out tile backsplash that just enhances the overall granite.
