Arrived late for an 8AM wave time (arrived around 8:30AM, and no worries - they just quickly signed us up for the 9AM wave!). I don't really like how they nickel and dime you with $5 day-of registration (especially if this center is very far off and inconvenient to pick up the day before). Definitely add extra time traveling here, if you don't travel by car, because it's in a pretty remote area. Overall, the race was exactly as I expected. It wasn't particularly challenging or crazy amounts of fun. There were 12 obstacles dispersed throughout the 5k, and many people walked (so don't worry to those who don't like running). Some of the obstacles were very lame, some of them were interesting. I definitely wouldn't do this again, but I don't entirely regret it. Don't buy this regularly; buy it on Groupon/LivingSocial! read more

Not a good race. That being said, it's not the fault of the Wipeout Run organization, but the rules of NYC. I've done a number of races at Brooklyn Aviator. They were all pretty terrible. One example is Rugged Maniac. Due to NYC regulations, RM doesn't set up the barbed wire, fire obstacles or have any legit mud pits. If you run a RM anywhere else, you will have a PHENOMENAL race. At Brooklyn Aviator? Skip it. I ran the ROC race (former name of Wipeout run) last year. Last year, we had all the obstacles. This year, under Wipeout, 3 obstacles were missing from the course: Monkey Business, Bubble Bash Swing, and Dope on a Rope. The terrain at Brooklyn Aviator is awful. They place all obstacles on an old airplane tarmac. It's 100% flat asphalt. And due to them missing three obstacles, there were only 9 scattered throughout 3.1 miles of asphalt. The majority of the time you're just running/jogging/walking through dead zones on cement. For anyone curious, it's not a challenging obstacle race. It's more for fun and wearing ridiculous outfits. No "obstacle" at the Aviator race is made to challenge your body in any way. Majority are just water slides, and glorified bouncy houses. I would be curious to see what a legit Wipeout Run looks like, but this really isn't a race I'd travel out of state to complete. read more

HILARIOUS RACE!!! Did this race in Brooklyn, NY with a couple friends and the laughs we had are unforgettable. Don't be afraid of this race, thinking that its like the tough mudders and spartan races tat are out there. This is a very fun and exciting way to fit some exercise into your life. The obstacles are of course reminiscent of the hit TV show Wipeout and are exciting, challenging, yet full of fun. Definitely grab a group of people, a couple costumes, and attend the next one in town! read more

I've never participated in a 5K run prior to R.O.C Race, but the concept itself looked like it would be a ton of fun. Luckily, I won 2 tickets courtesy of Yelp to participate in this past Saturday's run. It was soooooo much fun and every obstacle was challenging yet fun. I only wish it had been a bit warmer out for the water obstacles, especially 'Cool Runnings'. Other than that it was a great time and this event was well set up. Located at the Aviator Sports and Events Center, same place as the Color Run. At roughly about the same price, I was expecting it to have a lot of vendors giving out free food and things like the Color Run, but there were none. They did have one of those foam making machines, which felt warm and great in the cold weather. Definitely a fun race to try, but I wish that day it didn't rain. At almost every single obstacle there is a pool of water that you fall into if you fail. Me being a klutz, I pretty much fell into all of them. It was fun wiping out (and watching others wipe out), but don't be surprised if you catch a cold. Got race packet at Sports Authority. There is some wait at the obstacles, especially the last one. It was a huge water slide, which was higher and went faster than I thought. Definitely a fun and challenging race for the average person. Nothing like the Spartan Race or Tough Mudder at all, which is more to prove your fitness, but overcoming inflatables was harder than I thought. Not sure if I would do it again, but it is something worth trying once. read more

Good for: anyone who's about to start a journey into fitness (read: couch potatoes), families with children, group/friend setting, or co-workers looking to bond. If you're a moderately fit person, you can easily do this course. Obstacles: There were 12 obstacles in the course of the 5k. Only 4 involved water; I was expecting more because of how they advertise it online, so that was a big let-down. There were two slides set up for one of the obstacles (Cool Runnings), but for some reason they weren't letting anyone use one, creating a HUGE backup. Skipped that sh*t after standing in line for 10 minutes. Race registration: Easy enough to do online. I opted to sign up for day-of bib pickup and was charged a $5 "convenience" fee. They didn't tell us where the pick-up location prior to the event. Little did I know that the bib pick-up prior to ROC Race was a block from where I worked :[ On the day of the event, we waited 40-50 minutes in line to pick up our bibs! WTF! "Convenient" my ass! Organization: Pretty good. Parking was organized, staff was nice, bag check went smoothly. Can't wait to get our pictures. The weather didn't help either...but that's not their fault. Three stars docked off mainly for the bib pick-up sh*tshow. It was fun, but I wouldn't do it again. read more

I got to participate this year's ROC 5k event here in NY over the past weekend. Overall it was definitely a very fun experience. The obstacles were fun and staff very friendly and helpful. Foam Party near the entrance was definitely a great end to the race. This is an event fit for all ages and fitness level as its not timed and really a lot of people I saw were walking toward the end of the course. Out of the 12 obstacles we had Cool Running and The Slide at the end definitely were some of my favorites and also the most wait. Especially Cool Running they didn't open up the second slide until we waited in line for maybe 15-20 min making total wait close to 25-30 min I think. I had an earlyish start time around 9AM I would only imagine the wait would be worse as the day goes on. Even for price we paid on living social special ($50-60) I was hoping for more obstacles. The total race probably lasted 2 hours with at least 45 min+ were waiting in line and such. But definitely worth it if you never done a running event like me and in the end it was a lot of fun and that's all it mattered :) Definitely recommend to first timers. Oh also for those that couldn't find the pre-race day packet pick up location, they were posted on the city specific page on the ROC website that I was able to find easily. I do agree it is bit unusual to charge a fee on picking on the same day but I guess its their way of cutting down on further wait and delays on starting the race on time. Overall I think they did a pretty good job on organizing would definitely be 5 stars if they had make some adjustments for next year. read more

Event was excellent , the varies amount of obstacles where great and challenging. The bib pick up were very organized and the volunteers were great ! Only complaint is that it start time was not in the time slot we picked but much later in the day and the water was very dirty ! Other then that the family and I had a great time ! read more

ROC Race - Family and friends at the ROC Race ! - Challenge Courses Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

From the pictures you're probably telling yourself-- Yooooo. This run looks hella fun. You've seen the show, and you're sure that for legal reasons they have to tone it down some. But then you get to the race and you realize that they tone it down... A LOT. TOO MUCH. First of you're in like a giant abandoned airplane hangar/lot in the middle of nowhere Brooklyn with thousands of other people. Unless you're doing this run with your mom forego this race as a fun race to do with your friends. You run (with 90% of the people walking) to the first obstacle, wait in line for 30 mins, go through a relatively easy course , and then walk/run to the next obstacle, wait in line for 30 mins, slide down a slide into murky dirty water, etc etc etc... It's not worth it bro, again UNLESS you're watching your 65 year old mom struggle to walk across the balance beam above a pool of 4 ft high water. I know this sounds mean right now, but those were the only funny moments-- and I actually cheered for those moms who made it across, so I'm not a total douche, I swear. Ok, 2 stars because you're GONNA have fun because you're with your friends. But you could ALSO go to the bar and play jenga and take lots of funny pictures and spend less money and have just as much fun. If you're looking for a fun athletic thing to do with people with varying athletic abilities from your office then MAYBE this would be good "team building event." But that's more because it would be funny to watch your boss splash into dirty disgusting water. I applaud fun races as a way to get people to be active, but the way this Wipeout Race is run here is worth skipping. read more

We registered and picked up our items the day before so when we arrived for the 7:30am wave we walked right in and began the race very shortly after. All the obstacles were working perfectly , everyone was in good spirits, and my fiance and I had a blast. I would do this again next year! read more

ROC Race - After the run - Challenge Courses Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I am looking forward for this race as I signed up with a bunch of great ladies that I worked out with. So 1 star goes to me having a great time with my friends!! It is memorable!! Let me begin with the sign up process: 1) i don't like the idea of paying 5 dollars for the day of picking up the bibs on the event. Seriously? I never see any races that charge people for picking up the bibs on the day of the event 2) arrived at 12.40pm for 1.30pm wave. We didn't get our bibs until 1.25pm. We went in for the 2pm wave instead. The line was way too long and is very unorganized. The volunteers that was helping out was pretty slow and the connection with the ipad is really slow and keeps going off. That's why the line was long. I don't understand this process where they give you a bib and enter it on the spot. Most races have bibs assigned to the racer the day before the event. Bag check in was pretty fast so maybe another start for it. By paying at least $70 for this. I expect at least 1 of these: - Free pictures where most of the races do - Free beer? well at least they give you free monster Pictures are 4.95 PER PICTURE!! Seriously??? So if I want 10 pictures I would have to pay around 50 dollars!!! That SUCKS!! I expect it to be a lot cheaper than that. Some of the obstacle broke down and it creates a long line because people are waiting on just one side of the obstacle. Don't expect it to be a challenging race but a fun time hanging out with your friends. Everything in this race is about $$$. Anyway, I am still glad I had a great time with my friends!!! This race was SO much fun! I literally did not expect for the obstacles to actually be legit obstacles, and they WERE! I've never ran a 5K before, and this was a great way to do it! It rained so some of the obstacles were super wet and slippery, but that made them more fun! All the obstacles were really spaced out well and you could even skip any if you wanted to. My favorites were the bouncy balls (even though I didn't make it, and neither did any of my friends or anyone on line before us) and I also loved the slides. There were I believe two or three and they each had a different twist to them. And an exhilarating fall. The gorilla bars were harder than I thought! I didn't make it across but many people held on strong and made it! The DJ at the beginning was so good. Pumped everyone up! I just wish the stereos near the other obstacles were louder so your energy could stay pumped as you ran. But honestly, everything was perfect. It did rain but I preferred that it was a cool day so I wasn't sweating my balls off. Lol. Can't wait to come back next year! read more

I had a great time with a group of friends.. Lots of pretty fun obstacles!! It was spaced out well, so not as much running between each obstacle than I imagined. Today's weather wasn't too great because it was cloudy and RAINING.. so some obstacles became a little more slippery than usual. It was a little more challenging this way and a few of us had either a minor scrape or minor bruise (but not TOO bad that a dab of ointment can't handle). It was also a bit cold considered that it's September, our clothes were wet, and it was close to dark when we finished, so I think this event would be much better in July and August or even a sunny day in September is fine. Brings out the kid in me =) Just let go and have fun! read more

ROC Race - T-shirt - Challenge Courses Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I've done other Walks/Runs for charity (10K March of Dimes Walk; the 10K Walk/Run for the Cure), but this was my first obstacle course race. The course was fun and challenging! I had a great time participating with my 16yo nephew. I would love to participate in it again, but would appreciate it more if it was held in a location that is more easily accessible to public transportation (I understand with the nature of the race and logistics that this might not be possible). I would especially love if the event was held during a warmer time of year (like June-August). Other than these issues, the customer service was great, the volunteers were friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was conducive to socializing and having a good time. Really enjoyed myself and I would recommend this as a fun event for the family! read more

We arrived for the 5pm run on a gloomy, rainy day. We were pumped up to do the run. The crowd of people were in good spirit and fun. All the volunteers where fun and cheering people on. The check-in process was simple but that $5 dollar convenience 'fee' if you wanted to check-in that day is a bit price nickel and dime people. read more

Worst Run I have ever done. Granted, some of the obstacles were fun (like the bouncy balls, sweeper and big balls), but the entirety of the race was such a big disappointment. 1) Check in - Race time was at 4:30. We got there late, but we waited to pick up our bibs for at least 30 minutes. Never been to race where it took that long to register. 2) Long boring stretches between each obstacle. It's literally in a big parking lot and by the time you reach the next obstacle after walking/running on the asphalt, you see the long ass lines for that obstacle. 3)10-15 wait for each obstacle. Don't expect to make great time or anything. This race is meant to be fun and enjoyable for you and your friends. But all it was felt like was a shitty amusement park race. 4) Obstacles broke down, dirty water, no foam. Other racers' bibs fall off and you have to be cautious that you don't slide into the safety pins. The bag check was smooth though. Hated this race, never again. waste of time and money. Wouldn't have even wrote this if the lines for each obstacle weren't so astronomically long. WTF wants to wait 10-15 minutes for each obstacle for all 10-12 obstacles! read more

FUN and CHALLENGING. i honestly thought it would be easy but it was all a fun challenge (maybe because it was raining). the packet pick up day of didnt take too long at all, and spacing out the waves made it run pretty smooth. little to no back up. i did this alone and still had a blast! i did not stay afterwards because i had other plans but overall i recommended this race to so many people already! read more

The race was a lot of fun. My friends and I had a great time. This was my second year in a row doing it and always a good day out. The rain made the obstacles a little more slippery than usual. It would be a good event to have during the summer when it's a little warmer because by the time we were done we were a little bit frozen. Only problem I had was with the spectator accessibility. Last year when the event was held at resorts world casino the spectators were able to watch and cheer you on at a lot of the obstacles, this year my family and friends (spouses and children of people on my team) had to stand there for two hours not being able to see anything. The children were very disappointed as they had made signs cheering on their moms and couldn't. You should put more areas where they can watch. read more

So disappointed! Waste of time and money. Did the 5pm start time. The lines were ridiculously long for the obstacles which made the race even longer. They shut down some of the obstacles before I even got to complete them! They should not have had such a late start time if they needed to shut things down at a particular time. The obstacles weren't even that great. The warrior dash was much better, no long lines at obstacles and better activities. Would never do this again or recommend to anyone :/ read more

I haven't done the race yet, but I'm not looking forward to it after the customer service I've received. When we registered, the start waves were from 11am-3:30pm. They assigned us a 4pm wave just a few days ago. Not sure how that is fair since it is after the time we committed ourselves to for this event. But ok, we accepted it. Then they sent another email just yesterday, two days before the race, assigning us to a 4:30pm start time. Worth noting that they charge $5 at registration if you want to pick up your packet on the day of the event. As dumb as that is, I had no other choice since it did not tell us at registration where packet pickup would be located. I assumed it would be in Brooklyn, like the event. I am never in Brooklyn. However it ends up that packet pickup the day before the race is in Manhattan, where I work and could have easily picked up my packet the day before. I asked them to refund my $5 and they will not. Pretty pathetic if you ask me. read more

This "run" is a scam! Total waste of time and money. First of all, it took 2 hours to get there from Manhattan. The lines were insanely long (the whole course without doing all of the obstacles took 3 hours) and the obstacles were stupid and extremely spaced out. Most of the obstacles were shut down or deflated. I couldn't even get my money back. The event was poorly run to say the least. No one was even running to the obstacles and then at the end it took forever for the event staff to find everyone's bags. Don't waste your time or money!!! read more

it was def fun and unique, more obstacles would be amazing. weather was bad raining and it was chilly but not ROC's fault. bag check is def a good factor. most obstacles are a joke but it meant to be. i wish they could put up more challenging ones. also maybe more music at obstacles would be a great addition. read more

The wipeout run was fun, but there were a few things that were so disappointing I had to give it only 2 stars. First, the photography company (Flo-Foto) was horrible (they were the same company used for the Color Run and they were awful for that also) - there were photographers only at a few of the obstacles, and they didn't capture any pictures of anything exciting, they were capturing you AFTER you did the obstacle, as you were getting off (unless you were one of the handful they captured actually having fun while they were ON the obstacle). There was only one photographer at all of the 3 obstacles they were actually capturing so they couldn't even get a picture of most people. Next, there was no music at all on the course - that would have been a nice energizing touch because it gets pretty quiet when you're running between obstacles. Finally, I got an email saying that if my team had 4 or more members we would get free sunglasses at the event, but they refused to give any of my 6 teammates the sunglasses - not such a big deal, but just annoying. One more note about the obstacle "Foam of Fury", it had NO FOAM, it was just water, they should change the name of the obstacle or it should actually have foam. read more
