Now, I've just had cataract surgery and through that process Dr. Kothari has loosened up. She did an excellent job from start to finish. I'm still adjusting to my "new eyes" but I trust Dr. Kothari 100% for whatever I may need next. The staff there is great too. Sometimes you do get phone issues but I haven't had that happen for several months now and they are sending text reminders about upcoming appts as well.

It was very difficult to get an appointment as a new patient at that time but I patiently waited because of Dr. Severin's reputation. If it's not because of Dr. Severin I won't choose this office. The receptionist and schedulers were racist and very rude. They were full of attitudes and not helpful at all. There were always at least 3-4 staff sitting at the front desk/schedule desk but they never pick up the phone! Try calling them if you don't believe me. Last year, an elderly receptionist bluntly lied and told me Dr. Severin was not in the office and they assigned me another doctor without any notification/heads-up. While sitting in the waiting room I heard Dr. Severin's voice and asked the assistant about it. She told me yes, that was him. I was very upset to be told lies!! The assistant was very nice and apologized. I told her I needed to know the reason why I was told a lie. Very unprofessional! She said an office manager wasn't there and asked me if I wanted a follow-up. I said yes and NOBODY ever called back!! Obviously they didn't give a shit of my concern! My last visit this week, after finishing up seeing Dr. Severin one of the girls (short hair, young) rolled her eyes when I asked "when is the latest time to schedule a follow up appointment?" She looked so annoyed and unbothered with my very simple question. That kind of attitude was not tolerable! I didn't see her treated Caucasian patients like that. Well, now that Dr. Severin is retiring then this office has no value for me to continue my eye care. I will find another glaucoma specialist who has decent, helpful and friendly staff. It's sad to experience all this mistreatment from a well-known Glaucoma specialist office in East Bay. Very very unfortunate!

Big shout outs to Renee who was instrumental and made us feel so comfortable, Dr. Koushik who was impressive, charming, and made us feel very safe, Jennifer who handled communications and who made us feel happy first thing when we walked in, and Sara who was a delight, explained the pre-op so well and definitely left an impression. These are just the people I got to meet during the process, so a shout out also to everyone I didn't get to meet who at every moment throughout silently reassured us that our mum's eyes were in good hands. In addition to the experience with the doctors and staff, the ambiance of the offices were great, with music, snacks coffee, and air conditioning to keep us cool and comfortable while we waited, and a slew of patient testimonials that each rung true and were diverse in background and need. And I would be remiss and incomplete if I didn't say a little word about how easy and fun the post-op process was. I say fun because mum definitely did her best Big Lebowski impression the rest of the day following her operation with her brightness reducing glasses which reminded me of those old HD wraparounds from the tv ads.
