Make sure you double check twice prior of proceeding. Didn't expect my eye test to be $ 135 ... my benefit plan only covered for 75$. Initially i went there to inquire about the eye test. I was told they don't do direct billing. I left. They called me back and they said upon checking with the head office ... Yes we do direct billing. They asked about my benefits plan provider. And they said: oh yeah we will do direct billing and they will cover for it. I was not told the price of cost of the eye test. I was told that your plan will cover it. But after i did my test .. i was surprise by Zari asking me to pay a balance of 60$. I was in shock. I felt the cash grab feeling .... ! I told Zari that i was not told .. and she said: oh we probably didnt because you were in a rush. I didn't wanna argue! I paid 60$ but definitely made sure to never ever buy a thing here "i'm writing this review by the way while i am still here". I was planning to buy contact lenses and glasses and sunglasses. But after i was screwed for 60$. They won't get an extra penny from me. I will make sure to have this same review on google and other sites.

I wanted to know what the commotion was about as I regarded an eye exam the same as a dentist visit (but less painful, hopefully). The brightly lit office was stocked with walls of eyewear. I took the liberty of trying some glasses on while I waited for my exam. They had a good selection, but due to my above average sized head, I'm very particular about my glasses (and hats). Dr. Sexsmith made me feel very much at ease during my exam and answered any questions I had. One part of the exam required her to put drops in my eyes to dilate my pupils. It takes 30 minutes for it to take effect. A very nice lady (assistant?) offered me tea while I waited in the waiting area. I don't get my eyes checked very often, but this was probably the best eye exam experience I've had.

And yay them for being nice enough to call back knowing I was eager to get the exam. My general experience was great. All three people there were super friendly and both Dr. Renke, the optometrist, and Phat, the optician, worked with me to get me contact lenses I was comfortable with (I'm at the edge between two prescriptions and prefer as strong as I can get away with). Another super friendly Vancouver experience! Btw, I didn't get glasses this time so I can't comment on that, but while testing out my new contacts they did seem to have a lot of cool-looking frames.

I liked his suggestions, relating to my need for Toric Contact lenses + eye glasses too. He offered to redo my eye exam, and I will do so this year. If you're on medical disability - not a problem being accepted. The eyewear on offer is stylish designer brand names similar to those seen in Holt Renfrew yet at reasonable prices that work within a limited budget. Jackson Go is very reserved, yet intelligent, thoughtful, considerate & good at what he does. He's really good about repairs or exchanging any flaw/ faulty things going on. The day I went to the Main Street location for an exam was very busy with about 10+ customers. Staff were swamped and perhaps feeling the pressure of needing to attend to everyone without making them wait too long. I didn't wait too long and felt confident in the optician who did the examination. The person who helped me with frames did not rush me, was focused on what I needed despite all of the other customers milling around and was super friendly, helpful and efficient. Main Street can have a bad rep of being a bit snobby, but this was the friendliest shop I've ever been to on Main aside from Red Cat. It was actually disarming how friendly and unpretentious they were. The Manager was also so helpful, professional and very knowledgeable and I could tell he was totally on top of things and knew how to operate the business with the technical knowledge for the type of business it is. It felt like he actually cared about his staff, customers and how well this location performed. Superb job in a very challenging time when staff are hard to find, retain and keep happy. I'll admit that I originally went to another location where the staff looked through a big manual to answer my questions and I left not ordering anything because I didn't feel confident in what they were telling me. I totally recommend the Main Street location.
