We had dinner at Roberta's and overall had a very enjoyable meal. The pizza was quite good with a light, flavorful crust and quality ingredients. While I wouldn't say it was the best pizza I've ever had, it was definitely worth ordering and I'd happily have it again. Our only disappointment was the seating. Even though we had a reservation, we were given a table just inside the entrance. The door was constantly opening and closing, making our table noticeably chilly throughout the meal. I wish they had seated reservation guests a little farther inside the restaurant. Service was friendly and efficient, and the food arrived promptly. I'm still hoping to try the original Roberta's in Brooklyn someday to see how it compares. If the Brooklyn location is even better, I can understand why it has such a legendary reputation. In the meantime, the Los Angeles location delivered a solid meal with very good pizza, and I'd certainly return--hopefully with a better table next time. read more

Having pizza is a rare treat, especially when many restaurants don't offer options other than red sauce. I was able to order a pesto-based pizza ($29) and add beef pepperoni ($6)! The Lupo pie did not disappoint. The garlic, pesto sauce, cheeses, and pepperoni created a grand combination of savory; saltiness, creaminess, herbs, and a light, yet rich smokiness. Good food but a bit over prized. The bread has just the right amount of char in it - the bee sting pizza is fine but not exceptional. Because we had a 10 year old with us, we had the original pepperoni as well, I think it would have been better without the pepperoni....their pepperoni was hard and bit over cooked. The place is sparse but I suppose that makes it hip and the service is good. This branch is hard to find. It's in the courtyard across the street from the parking building of the Platform. Now listen, because I wish someone had told me this before I got all frustrated. Entrance to the parking is on Landmark off Washington Blvd. But the restaurant is actually in the middle of the courtyard in the building across the street. Got it? Walked in for a quick dinner - what a great spot! I love hot honey pizza, and their Bee Sting pizza was the hot honey pizza of my dreams - thin crust, large and slightly crispy soppressata slices, and the occasional basil, all drizzled with the perfect amount of honey. The Japanese sweet potatoes were also such a delightful surprise - the rich cake-y texture of sweet potatoes was balanced so nicely by the fresh herbs and husk cherries, such a wonderful combination! So SLICE to find a little taste of New York in LA! Tucked away in the Platform mall in Culver City, Roberta's offers New York-inspired Italian fare, with a menu filled with pizza, pasta and much more. We had to order the Bee Sting, which is their version of a hot honey salami pizza, and is prepared fresh to order in-house via their pizza oven. We also ordered the clam linguine, which was made with housemade pasta, and small but high quality and fresh clams. Overall, the portions were a bit small for the prices, but it's undeniably high quality Italian food that can sometimes prove to be surprisingly elusive in LA. Service was very nice and attentive despite the restaurant being super busy, and even kindly offered us free housemade boysenberry ice cream to apologize for us having to move tables to accommodate a large 10+ person party (although we didn't mind moving away since they were super loud and obnoxious LOL). Parking is unfortunately not validated, but Sweetgreen a few feet down does offer validation. read more

The dough is wonderful. NOT the best dough (that's reserved for pizzeria sei). But definitely above average dough. The only reason i took off points for the dough was that although it had amazing consistency and texture, some parts were too charred, brittle and inconsistent throughout the pizza. The toppings were fresh and delicious but not enough variety on the menu as every flavor was too similar to each other. The mushroom jalepeno pizza was in fact delicious and was in facf better than expected in flavor and pairing. The hot honey pizza overall was the better pizza. Size was a bit smaller than but not too small I'd come again because the dough was nice and above average. But wouldn't come as often as the menu variety didn't hit the spot. read more

This place came highly recommended from a local so I had to give it a go. To start off, our server was incredibly nice and attentive. The salad was absolutely mind blowing, I would drive up 2 hours just for the Green Lettuces. The pizza was also pretty good but the salad was the star of the show for me. My wife and I were heartbroken when our favorite place to eat at the Sportsman's Lodge Shops Roberta's suddenly closed....so we went to the Roberta's location in Culver City and were just absolutely blown away by their customer service! There was a private party event going on but Osanga and Malcolm made sure our drive from Studio City was not in vain! Malcolm took our order and said there was a nice park area called The Platform we could sit in with our Black Lab Harvey while we waited for our food. And much to our surprise they brought our food out to us and set us up at a very nice picnic table to enjoy our dinner! It was a 5 star experience thanks to Osanga and Malcom! I highly recommend recommend Roberta's in Culver City! The Neapolitan pizzas, the Buratta, the snap pea salad, the Greens Salad and the Clam pasta were all excellent! We were heartbroken when the Studio City location of Roberta's closed, so we made the trip from Studio City to Culver City--and we're so glad we did! From the moment we arrived, Malcolm went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, even though the restaurant was hosting a private event. He graciously accommodated us in the outdoor park area, which turned out to be absolutely magical. Malcolm and Osanga were incredibly attentive, kind, and thoughtful. They genuinely seemed to care about how sad we were about the Studio City closure and did everything they could to make our visit special. The rest of the staff was equally warm, friendly, and accommodating. The food was phenomenal, as always, but what truly stood out was the exceptional service. Experiences like this are what keep customers coming back time and time again. And as a bonus, our black Lab, Harvey, was welcomed with open arms! For that, this restaurant gets 3 stars because all the stars really just go to the food quality, and the -2 stars are for high prices and terrible service. For three years, this was our place. My girlfriend adored it -- our first Valentine's Day was here, and it soon became our regular spot. For her birthday, I added a simple note to our reservation, just asking if they did anything for special occasions. We arrived, sat down, and got nothing. Not even a "happy birthday." Fine -- things slip. What I can't get past is what came after. I followed up with a polite email and got no reply. I wrote again, saying even one line back would have meant something. Silence. Twice ignored, over a question that took thirty seconds to answer. The food was fine, but I've never felt more like a transaction than a guest. We gave them years of business and our best memories. Roberta's is one of the best spots in LA if you're craving a true NY pizza experience on the West Coast. The pies hit exactly how they should, thin, crispy crust, great char, and loaded with flavor. Everything feels balanced and intentional, the kind of pizza that reminds you why New York sets the standard. Standouts for me are the Speckenwolf, Ursula's, and the Bee Sting, all excellent, no wrong choice here. I was in town and decided to come here on a Tuesday night to catch up with some friends. Making a reservation was easy and we were seated as soon as we arrived. The host was very polite and helpful. He immediately helped us with drink orders. Then a waiter came up and tried taking our order as well. We were confused and asked who our waiter was. She very snappily and kinda rudely responded it was her. We were not a fan of her vibe. Drinks took some time to arrive even though they weren't that busy. Overall service wasn't that great even aside from her poor attitude. The drinks were very good and everyone seemed satisfied with that they ordered. For app we tried the fire and ice. This was delicious! The cheese was so milky and flavorful and I can't remember what was on the bottom but it was such a good compliment. The bread it came with was doughy, warm, and delicious. For entrees we shared 2 pizzas and 2 pastas. We ordered their bee sting pizza (off menu) and their lupo pizza. Both were very good. I was especially a fan of the bountiful mortadella on the lupo pizza. The cacio pepe pasta was the biggest let down of the night. Super flavorless and watery. The bucatini pasta was alright. Great potential, but not there yet. Walked half a mile from downtown Culver City after our friend mentioned of Roberta's having good pizza. We were faced with subpar service: only 6 tables occupied, but stood at the front desk for 10 mins to get seated. Once seated, the waiter just disappeared for 15 mins and I had to go inside to mention I'm ready to place an order. Simultaneously, other customers were waiting on their bills, etc. We had the bee sting pizza (not on the menu), it was honestly great, but as you can see my picture..the undercarriage is wet and soggy. All that oil is at the bottom and is like a wet rag. You cannot pick it up without the toppings falling off. If that weren't the case the pizza would've been a strong 4.5/5. Rigatoni Carbonara..this is not a carbonara. You can just call it "butter rigatoni with bacon." That's exactly how it tastes like. Roberta's has huge potential..food and service. Just needs extra love. For anyone in the area, I recommend just eating near downtown Culver City where all the restaurants are. read more

This is our go-to pizza takeout spot when we want something more gourmet than our usual pepperoni NY style pizza from Coop. The Bee Sting and Stracciatella are both amazing (the doughy bread dipped in the creamy cheese is dangerously addictive). I do wish the pizza was a smidge thicker, because it gets a bit soggy once it cools. They have a nice patio if you eat there, and it's very family friendly. read more

Delicious yummy artisan pizza, great service, reasonable price... couldn't ask for more! We didn't see the pizza with the toppings we wanted on the menu, but our waitress was on it and worked with us to figure out the best, cheapest way to order exactly the pizza we wanted...we got the tomato based sauce, the creamy tastey taleggio cheese with just the toppings we wanted! Their pizza dough was excellent, perfectly crispy with no burnt taste around the crust and soft and chewy on the inside. We saw a couple tables away get served an intriguing dinner size plate of pizza dough bread. It came out reminiscent of a volcano, all puffed up and steaming looking tantalizing. Had to ask the waitress, "What is that?" She explained that they cook it to order and it comes with house made cultured butter or creamy stracciatella cheese. Stay away from this place. I'm astounded how this restaurant undelivered given their prices and location. The first red flag: our waitress was very transparent and super but alerted us that their wine fridge was broken. Not a big deal as i was ordering a bottle of red wine, but she then told us it has been broken for months. Ouch... but still got the bottle ($75) Second red flag: bitter funky salad?? I love anchovies, but this gem salad had such an acrid/bitter anchovies dressing that we couldn't finish it ($19) Third red flag: Amatricana. They included guanciale and hammered it. Burnt. The pasta was cooked fine but they added pre chopped RAW garlic to the dish. The whole dish tasted like the juice at bottom of that garlic jar. So bad The pizza was good though. YOU GUYS! We almost never write reviews, but we had to for this experience. I used to live in Brooklyn and went to the original Roberta's countless times, but the Culver City location.... was phenomenal. We truly weren't expecting to have such an insanely positive experience, and went in thinking it may not be exactly the same, but were proven SO wrong. The pasta was perfect, the pizza dough was everything we remembered from New York and more, the boysenberry ice cream was the perfect Southern California touch and the bread was truly some of the best bread I've ever had. We got to talk to the manager for a bit, and her focus on sourcing from local farmers made so much sense in the quality of the food. Culver City has captured something special -- Brooklyn could take a page out of their book. ;) read more

The wait staff realized their error and then gave the pizza to the table beside us. So people beside us = 2 pizzas (ours and theirs). Us = 0 pizzas. We then had to wait even longer for them to re-make our pizza. There was some small apologies made but no consolation for their error which forced a pretty lengthy wait. Icing on the cake was the people beside us getting boxes to take home all of their leftover pizza while we were still waiting for ours to arrive. Again, just not the best first impression. First time at Roberta's and I was impressed by the food! I loved the Snap Peas and the Pesto pizza. We also got a Bee Sting, which was good but the sauce was a bit too watery. Only cons for me would be the watery pizza sauce and the overall prices being fairly high. Service was solid! They even managed to seat us early despite our reservation time. The food came out very fast, but it didn't feel like anyone was rushing us through the meal. The outdoor ambiance was nice! I invited my friend to Roberta's to celebrate his birthday.. We both had never been there, and the place sounded cool with a New York vibe and known for its New York style pizza. I have to say it was a very disappointing experience. First, I ordered a glass of white wine from their wine list. They were out of that one so I chose another. They were out of that one as well... so on my third try, I got a glass of white wine. (there were four choices of white wine on the menu.) Our first two dishes, the duck liver mousse, and Hamachi collar were very good. The last thing we ordered was the domino effect pizza. I asked our waiter for some Parmesan cheese and he apologized and said they were out of it. What?? You're an Italian restaurant and you're out of Parmesan cheese??? it wasn't like it was end of the night... our reservation was for 6:30 ...the pizza was our least favorite thing. It did not have a thin crust and was not a New York style pizza at all. And last, but not least, as it was my friend's birthday, they offered a complimentary dessert. I said let's get the tiramisu. Guess what... they were out of that too! Sadly, I would not recommend this place to anyone and I would not go back. located in a lively plaza in culver city - little to no street parking available but there is a parking structure for a small fee. overall i thought the food was very delicious, well made, and had quality ingredients. my fave dish was their bee sting pizza which is off menu but kind of their signature dish. the honey pairs so well with the pepperoni and almost tastes caramelized from the baking. might be one of the best pizzas ive ever had. would come here just to eat this. a few other dishes we ordered that were decent was the stracciatella w bread and linguine w clams. the bread comes out so hot and pairs so well with the stracciatella cheese. we also got a shroomsday device pizza as well as a gem lettuce salad which i didn't love too much. read more
