I wouldn't come here for nigiri sushi. Ordered a bento box with sushi and sashimi pieces and I was not impressed with the quality or cuts. Lots of the same fish too. The salmon skin salad is a huge portion and really good. The agedashi tofu was ok but I've had better. Maybe the shareables and rolls are better. But definitely don't order the bento. Service a little slow. Patio is dog friendly. read more

We stopped by Robata Wasa for a quick bite after shopping since my wife was craving some Japanese food. We ordered the edamame, baked salmon roll, and the makunouchi bento to share. The interior of the restaurant was very nice. It was clean, spacious, well-decorated, and we were seated in a comfy booth. Service was friendly and attentive and the food arrived at a decent pace. Regrettably, the food itself was overpriced and very mediocre. The salmon roll came out so soggy that it fell apart when we tried to pick it up. The edamame was okay and the bento was passable but not memorable. To add to this, the restaurant also charges an extra 3% surcharge for using a credit card (I didn't even realize until the server starred it for me on my receipt). I could understand this at a small mom-and-pop shop or some place with a cheaper menu but at a restaurant of this size in a high-traffic area, it didn't feel right...especially with already high prices. Between the mediocre food, inflated pricing, and extra fees, I'd recommend skipping. read more

This hidden gem at Irvine Spectrum is worth a stop! The restaurant is clean and beautifully decorated. I started with the lychee martini -- so refreshing and easy to drink. We ordered the Uni meets Ikura, scallop crudo, miso cod, and chirashi bowl. Everything was fresh and flavorful, but the miso cod was the standout -- perfectly cooked and so delicious. My husband and I had such a great experience here! The food was so yummy, especially the fried calamari, which was perfectly flakey. What really made our visit stand out was our waitress, Tif. My partner has a severe dairy allergy, and she went above and beyond to make sure we felt safe and comfortable. Before we even ordered, she checked with the chef about ingredients and came back with helpful updates. She also made sure sauces could be served on the side and gave thoughtful recommendations on what would work best for us. Her service was great throughout the meal, very attentive, responsive, and incredibly kind. She kept our waters filled without us needing to ask and was so sweet the entire time. This place is one of the best sushi places in OC. I love that they haven't changed their menu in years and that they still have my favorite items on the menu. My personal favorite is the truffle salmon carpaccio, yellowtail jalapeno, rainbow roll, shitake salad (which you cant find anywhere and is out of this world) and the lobster roll. I wish they would add few other fresh rolls (non tempura or baked) without spicy tuna or crab to their menu. The shitake salad is a must have and they have good house sake and miso soup as well. One of the worst dining experiences I've had. We were seated and completely ignored for over 20 minutes with no water or service. After finally ordering, we waited about an hour for food, and one meal never arrived. No one checked on us at any point or gave any updates. We had to repeatedly ask for basic items like soy sauce. Eventually we canceled the missing dish, and there was no apology or explanation at all. I understand restaurants can be busy, but the lack of communication and basic customer care was unacceptable. My family and I shared the most delicious tempura and cocktails at Robata Wasa. The tempura was very fresh and crispy, and I highly recommend the ube colada for a tasty twist on a classic cocktail. Our waitress Tiff was incredibly friendly and took excellent care of us. She even comped my grandma's drink and gave us the cutest sushi themed cat stickers at the end of our meal. I wanted to get sushi but also had my dog with me and they were able to seat us outside and were dog friendly. The outside area was very comfortable and even though it was hot outside it felt really nice to sit outdoors. Our waitress took our drink order immediately and was very attentive throughout the meal. She was very knowledgeable about the sashimi we ordered. I was very impressed with their sushi selection as i had never seen a lot of their menu items before. All the fish was melt in your mouth delicious and we just kept ordering more things. Again i was very impressed with the fish quality and was very happy with all the selection they had. The price for the food was definitely worth the money. I would definitely recommend this spot to everyone I know and will be coming back soon! read more

The food taste good and both came with miso soup. Good portion and we shared each other's lunch. The eel is soft and melts in the mouth. The sushi bento box also has a good amount of sushi and sashimi. I think it is a bit too much for me but to share with my husband it is perfect. The price is alright because it is inside the Spectrum. We sat in the back corner which was a little dark. The outside seating is probably a better choice. I am not sure if I would come back just because there are so many options out there. read more

I've always wanted to try this restaurant and have seen their ads on IG. We were seating immediately and given a menu with an interesting selection of entrees and appetizers. I ordered primarily sushi this day - it's very good. Arguably some of the best I've had in Southern California. Shocking I know. You can't go wrong with their selection of both nigiri and rolls. Everything was FIRE. We did family style and shared everything and nobody had anything to say but good things! We also ordered a ton of beer and 2 bottles of Kikusui and ofc it only made our meal sexier Service was good! our server, GOD BLESS HER, was soooo sweet and funny. Sure, I have the usual sushi spot I typically go to, but I happened to be invited to a work dinner here and we couldn't stop talking about how fresh and delicious the food was. The Yellowtail & Jalapeño app was melt in your mouth perfection. The Salmon & Lemon Pepper roll and the Spicy Yellowtail Tataki roll were also amazing. Walked by a thousand times before, thought it was time to try it. Pretty good, I'd come back. Ordered calamari, 2 specialty cocktails, volcano roll, and a yellow tail roll. The calamari wasn't good. It was very tough. My wife said I should eat the rest, but it just wasn't enjoyable to me. Also when the calamari came, they delivered the plate to us and we had no water or table settings yet. We just looked at each other like "so, hands???" lol The cocktails seemed unique and both were enjoyable. Both rolls were delicious, so the sushi itself was on point. The volcano roll was placed at our table literally on fire, which was a pretty cool experience. After about a minute it went out and we ate it. Only negative thing is that the table settings were absent and not ready for us to eat, and that the calamari wasn't good. Would for sure come back for the sushi though. read more

Wow! So I was here a year ago and had a much different experience than I did today! The first thing you see when you come in is a 3% price reduction if your pay cash, so I understand we are all struggling in this economy but to be reminded of it right when you walk in is unpleasant for me. Then I saw the menu prices, it was outrageous I won't be back. We got 3 items and no drinks it was 78.00!!!! Plus the real absolute finish was when I asked for hot sauce I was told I'd be charged 1.00! I mean it was just an unpleasant feeling to be nickled and dimed for every last thing. I spent 25.00 for a sushi roll and couldn't get hot sauce without a charge I felt awful the experience was just terrible and the server was not great either was not friendly at all! I had a poor experience overall and I hope the restaurant can carry on in this economy not sure I can't imagine the costs for them. But being here a year ago to now there was a huge difference and it was not a good one, when we came in on Friday afternoon it was also completely empty....good luck but I'm sorry I won't be back. read more
