The "HONEY BUTTER" chicken sandwich. Let's just talk about the ingredients! Buttermilk fried chicken breast smothered with honey butter and cheddar cheese! That's it, that's the review! Enjoy!

We've been going to the Bladensburg location for years and they never disappoint!!!! This location is not the same! The breading on chicken was soggy, the sandwich and the nuggets! The breading was falling off the chicken! The spice level is not the same either. I get medium and my husband gets hot. I think these were mild no spice level at all! Will not be back to this location!

Roaming Rooster is my favorite chicken spot in the DMV. I was originally introduced via Instagram and really wanted to try it. There menu is very simple, chicken sandwiches, wings and nuggets. My favorites include the OG Nashville, a buttermilk fried chicken breast sandwich with house made vinaigrette slaw and pickles and the wings. The wings are supposed to come with 3 but I always get 4 wings with sliced bread and pickles. You can choose your heat level from mild to extra hot. I never go past medium sometimes this is too hot for me and I got back to mild. I also like that the meat here is halal/kosher. Please note the bacon ks pork. I highly suggest ordering ahead through their site. Lines can be very long. Parking is limited.

I went a week after opening. Had the chicken and cheese sandwich with fries. Really enjoyed it. Very tasty. Sandwich was about $10. A bit pricy for me. Service was very quick. The Roaming Rooster was doing a good business when I was there. This is take out only. The menu is not extensive which is good. They can focus and make some really great stuff. You will not stumble upon this place due to it's location. You must know about it to go there. That's why I took the pic of the front. I do recommend giving the Rooster a try.

Roaming Rooster has one of the best chicken sandwiches I've had to date. They opened one, not too long ago near my home in Crofton, and I just had to try it. I got the honey butter chicken sandwich & fries and was happy with it. I'd definitely visit again.

I heard this place had just opened through the Crofton neighborhood Facebook page and had to check it out when I was visiting family. This place is pretty obscure unless you're looking for it as it's in a corner, partly blocked by Gold's Gym next door and trees across the parking lot by the road. It's a very small chicken shop with a couple tables and chairs out front, a row of counters to eat inside, a restroom, and the ordering counter. The menu is quite limited and not overwhelming for a fast food which is great. The staff working at the register was super friendly and recommended the Honey Butter chicken sandwich as their most popular. I opted for that and a side of fries. The sandwich came in a potato bun and had two filets with a slice of cheddar cheese. I've never heard of Roaming Rooster before but wow, was the sandwich good! The fried chicken was huge, crispy and juicy. It had so much flavor with the honey butter in it. The fries reminded me of Boardwalk fries, not too thick and tender on the inside - quite good as well. This Crofton location has been in its soft opening stage so the hours aren't as long but it was a great experience. One of the best fried chicken sandwiches I've had and it's great there's a good one out in the suburbs here. I can't wait to go back!

I ordered the Mild(zero flavor) Chicken Wings. You get 3 whole wings. They could add some type of mild seasoning for these wings, which is why I'm giving 4 stars. If you want any kind of flavor, I suggest you at least order the Medium flavored chicken. The fries are awesome! They definitely give you a generous amount of fries. The service was fast and the cashier was courteous. The ambiance was chill. This location is tucked away next to the paint shop.

I visited this Roaming Rooster since I was in the area. This location is a Low-Key Chill spot, and it stays packed enough but very manageable. The Customer service is very polite & the CSR even welcomes you with so much enthusiasm, delight and funny same time. The Food is decently priced, the inside is set up like a bar and its chairs to sit. & a clean restroom. I ordered a Chicken Club which is lettuce tomato Mayo and bacon comes with perfectly cooked fries!!.. The Sandwich is Hugee!! Certainly Healthy and plentiful pieces of fresh juicy chicken breasts!! , the Rooster sauce is amazing even on your fries has the perfect spice kick balance !!. They offer an option for vegans and the portion is Equally Healthy and plentiful. Whenever I'm in the area again I'm definitely stopping here!! I appreciate the pleasant experience.

I have been seeing advertisements for Roaming Rooster for some time now. So I've finally decided to venture out to Crofton, Md. About a 45 minute drive from where I live. It's a small spot Located in a corner next to Golds gym. It's was empty when I walked in. So I was greeted right away. I went with the mild club sandwich. About 10minutes later my order was ready. I really wanted to love this place however the food was underwhelming. Maybe I chose the wrong sandwiches. Not sure if I'd try this place again. Give them a try for yourself. According to majority of the reviews there must be something here that's great.

This was not bad at all once I was able to find it. I placed an online order and had a time finding this place. It's definitely in the cut behind the Gold's Gym. Anyhow, back to the food. I tried a mild chicken sandwich with slaw and pickled onions. I must say I enjoyed it especially with the rooster sauce and it was a welcome change from Chic fila. I do plan to visit again to try a sandwich with some "heat" since that's what they are known for and update my review.

I've put this on my list since they opened a store on Bladensburg Rd in DC. While passing through Crofton, I decided to stop. When I walked in, I spoke to the young man behind the counter. He was very kind and courteous and recommended I start with the buffalo or honey butter sandwich, so I chose the honey butter. I sat in my car while they made my sandwich fresh, and 10 minutes later, the nice guy came to the door to tell me that my sandwich was ready. I excitedly opened up my box, and it was filled with oil, and got sad. The sandwich was hot and fresh, but it wasn't the taste that I was expecting. I wanted the honey butter to be a tad sweeter so that I could taste it. I was underwhelmed.

I was finally able to try the infamous traditional honey butter sandwich with fries and rooster sauce. I kept everything the same to get the full experience. They have two iron tables outside for people to dine and both were packed. Inside was also packed. My total came to $15 and some change and that is without a soda. They give you your monies worth as you get two chicken breasts on a bun and a heaping amount of fries. It was delicious I was only able to eat half of one chicken breast but will save the rest for sure. The honey butter wasn't overpowering and the chicken breast was both crispy but also flavorful. I will be back as I can forsee having a taste for this. I see they have updated hours on the website but not anywhere on the business. I am here now and the hours are still difficult to follow. There are people inside and it's 10:15am but the door is locked. This review is simply because of the lack of communication and any means to locate such. From the reviews it appears that their soft opening is lasting way longer than I've ever seen. I would prefer they commit to a standard schedule, communicate when they will be opening for good or at least update their website with information regarding the opening and hours upcoming. Currently there is no working number for this business, in addition there is no signage at the restaurant indicating hours of operation. I have stopped by the restaurant on a Saturday twice assuming they would surely do their limited hours on a weekend but I was wrong. Lack of communication has this place off to a bad

It had I believe what tasted like five spice in the marinade which was weird, in my opinion. The macaroni salad was okay. Not Hawaiian macaroni salad though. I've only been here once so far, but I was already happy with what they have to offer. We ordered three entrées for the three of us dining in. There was no one else here, but it wasn't long after they opened. Hopefully things pick up here soon! Three meals was MORE than too much! You get a TON of food for that price! Each one comes with two big scoops of plain white rice and a scoop of a rather savory macaroni salad. I'm not a huge mac salad fan to start with, but most of them come out very sweet. Not this one, however! It was a nice departure from the standard. I had the Hawaiian grilled chicken. I did have to ask what type of chicken they used, and the guy said it was dark thigh meat. I'm normally a white meat guy, but I gave it a go anyway. I'm so glad I did! This dish was very tasty! It could use more sauce, maybe even some on the side, but it was still quite flavorful. My wife got the short ribs (tasty) and my kid went with the fried shrimp (HUGE!!). There was so much food, that we basically took about 50% of it home. So, before you grouse about the price, it's a LOT of food for the dollar. At least two meals... unless you're super-hungry. The service was fast and the dude was helpful. We didn't have to wait long for everything to be ready. The décor is sparse and could use some Hawaiian flavor. It's pretty drab currently. Overall, this is a neat addition to the Crofton food scene. I really hope it stays around for a while. Whenever I'm in in the Pacific time zone, I always try to find Hawaiian restaurants, as the food is so delicious to me. This might be the go-to answer to my prayers. I'll need to try it out more to confirm!

I went to this location multiple times in 2023-2025. They opened in September 2023, which was the 2nd location in MD. This is about 15 miles from my home, which isn't too far. Then, Columbia location opened, which is closer at about 10 miles. The first location in MD was way up in Towson. I was up that way in March 2023 for a trivia tournament and thought to get an early lunch at Raising Cane's as I was excited to try at the time the only location in MD, but parking was a pain and line was too long. So, I ended up eating at the trivia tournament venue. Then, in September 2023, they opened this 2nd MD location here on a Friday. I went on its 2nd day that Saturday as coincidentally, I had a trivia tournament. It was a madhouse on route 3 in the left lane getting in here. I ended up parking on the Wendy's side as it was too hectic in there; you're not supposed to do that, and I never did that again, but that 1st weekend was hectic. Line was long, but they were going as quickly as they could. I was a bit nervous about my timing, but eventually, I got my food, ate a bit quicker than usual, and drove the 5 minutes to the trivia tournament. It was delicious. I love the chicken tenders, fries, & Texas toast here. I don't really like coleslaw, but I don't mind theirs. The baskets come with a drink, and I get half sweet/half unsweet tea every time, and it's freshly brewed. My girlfriend & I went to this location a couple of times mostly in 2024. Chicken baskets are always on point. In June 2024, we bumped into someone from trivia, which we three were going to tournament. He loved Raising Cane's probably even more than me. He said he lived very close to here and would come here sometimes multiple times a week. He also replaced fries (which is unhealthy) with more Texas toast (which is also unhealthy but maybe less so), and he loved the Texas toast more than fries. I agree with him on that here, but I want the fries as I want the variety. I'll keep coming back as a Caniac!
