Glad that Roaming Goat was open later on a Monday in Short North. My friend and I were looking for somewhere to grab a drink and sit out of the sun while we were waiting on an event. The drinks were good. We tried some of their fall feature drinks. I was able to get it in a chai instead of a coffee latte. This is a simple little coffee shop with good drink flavors. Experience Columbus has a coffee trail, and we try to hit one coffee place each weekend. Today's destination was "The Roaming Goat" which is located inside the Short North neighborhood of downtown Columbus. Parking was easily found directly outside the shop The spot is metered but you dont need coins as its all app based and easy to pay. However, the meters downtown are free on Sundays so parking was free! We walked inside. I found the interior very basic. Thats not a slam... its just what it is. This is not your quaint, cozy, or stay for hours place. It is very utilitarian. Get your coffee, drink your coffee and get on with your day kind of place. Its made up of mostly counters that run along the perimeter of the shop with accompanying barstools. There were two upholstered chairs, but they were directly next to the trash can and the front door, which was not ideal. So, we chose not to sit there and found a little nook that had a counter with three chairs, so we found that kind of quiet, private place to enjoy coffee. The coffee!!! Yum. It was really very good. He likesI got a honey cinnamon oat-milk latte that made me say mmmmmm way more than my husband cared to hear. They also have items from Patty-cake bakery and the pop tarts from Happy Little Treats. Omg if you haven't had one of those pop tarts-you are missing out! We purchased a blueberry one for latter and split a cranberry pecan one at the shop. (They are big). While we were there 4+ customers came in with their dogs. So it's super dog friendly. Which is so nice to see. We will be back maybe with our fur baby! 5 out of 5 stars. I stopped in after lunch before hitting the road for a much needed pick me up. I was about to get a regular iced mocha when I saw the Mayan mocha and switched it up. I'm so glad I did because this drink was so god. I've had something similar with mocha, cayenne, cinnamon maybe... not sure what else, but their version worked so well... even iced. I would absolutely order this again and might even try to recreate it at home. read more

Dropping by for a quick update. This has recently become my favorite coffee shop in the Short North. I've noticed that they have new staff. The two ladies I've been greeted by every time I come in are so sweet and they work their asses off. I've legit seen the line damn near out the door and they hustle.. Sometimes there's only one of them. Then they go into superspeed mode. Hint hint, give 'em a raise! The coffee is consistent, they have fun seasonal flavors, the wi-fi is strong, there's a ton of great natural light, and it's nice to people watch while getting some work done. They have a few treats behind the counter from other local businesses in town (often bagels and poptarts), rotating local art up on the walls for sale, and a good amount of seating, even a lounge area. I also like that they have signage up outside that says they are a safe space for everyone regardless of race, sex, all the things. Definitely makes you feel welcome. Oh, and they're dog friendly too! Over the years I've watched this spot transform and it's nice to see the small improvements they've made and how it's made a huge, positive, impact on the experience. Y'all are killin' it! read more

This was made well, but I wish I tasted more lavender, it wasn't strong enough to stand out, but overall still good. My friend got the small Horchata Latte, which tastes how it sounds. The establishment is small but clean and inviting. I visited twice while in town and the mocha latte was good both times. The staff was also friendly and efficient. The challenge is they don't have a plethora of eating options. On my first visit I ordered a plain croissant and it was soft and delicious. Unfortunately, on day 2 they were out of plain croissants (I was there right when they opened so they must have not received any new ones) so I tried the pesto croissant. I recently started visiting Roaming Goat, and I keep going back. The interior isn't all that unique, it's kind of plain and is on the bottom floor of a much larger building. I like to visit in the afternoons when coffee shops are less busy. I also try not to rely on caffeine to wake up in the morning. Usually, when I come in, there are a few folks working on their laptops at the chairs that line the window-walled single room. There are a couple of comfy chairs to the left and the rest are high-top style. The restroom has a key which is attached to a large spoon, which is kind of gross, but I believe it's just to make things easier on the barista as far as keeping it open for customers only. The baristas working are always super nice-- I usually end up chatting with them for a bit about one thing or another. The main reason I keep coming back though is because the coffee is very good and priced reasonably. My favorite is their Fire Water cold brew, which is made with beans aged in a bourbon barrel, which are then roasted to remove the alcohol. The coffee retains the bourbon flavor, and it's so good!!! Especially for someone like me who is always looking for a way to make my coffee interesting without adding any sugar. I usually go for the 24 oz size with room for half and half and it's $5. Roaming Goat has definitely become my go-to spot on High St. Still waiting for them to get the bags of fire water beans back in so I can brew it at home. The barista was kind enough to give me advice on how to do it and I'm excited to try! Every bourbon/coffee fan neeeeds to try it. read more

Found this little shop on a yelp local coffee email I got a few months ago and had written it down because the reviews said it has great cold brew and my husband loves cold brew and trying local coffee shops. It did not disappoint. The cold brew is great. My hubby loved it. Said it didn't have the "bite" that some coffee has. I got the honey latte (iced obviously, because it was literally almost 100 degrees today) and it was delish! Not too sweet, but very refreshing. And I'm not even reallt a huge coffee person. We will definitely have to come back and try hot drinks when it's not so hot outside. read more

Came here for a late morning coffee on a weekday. I ended up getting the seasonal latte after seeing some recommendations here, which was the Lavender Cardamon Honey Latte with oat milk. I had some hesitation about it given how many flavors were in it ... and sadly I think it was a bit too much for me. The cardamon was a little stronger than I would have liked and tasted spicy at the back of my throat with every sip. Not sure I tasted the floral lavender either. The latte itself tasted pretty standard. However, super cute study space that I would want to come to later to maybe just camp for a bit to get work done. The interior is pared down to the point that it almost qualifies as stark. And considering that it's named the Roaming Goat I was originally surprised not to see a single goat-y artifact. There was a goat on the logo on the window but not another goat to be found. I guess the recent name change may be to blame. The service was professional and the drink was good but the whole thing felt just a little clinical. Definitely not a touchy-feely kind of experience. This place is quiet. LIKE QUIET. People were studying in here and about every table was taken. I came with a group of 6 and it's not a conducive space for anymore than 3 people in a group, in my opinion. They've got long tables lining the windows and a few tables along the left side. There were some seats by the counter too but eh. There also wasn't any music playing...weird. Anyway, I ordered a cortado. It was nothing special to me. But decent. Three of my other friends got regular iced black tea. Smooth. And a selling point for anyone who doesn't like it sweetened. You can ask for it to be sweetened, so I'm open to trying that next time. My other two friends got honey lattes. One got it iced, the other hot. It was good to them, but again, nothing stand out. The barista was nice. He was a hipster. He did a good job not getting overwhelmed with all of us ordering stuff and made conversation with us. I like the openness of the space. White and gray and very modern. Went to this cute and cozy little cafe on a cold morning in November. We were greeted by the very kind barista, who was working alone, but was still very quick. My husband ordered black coffee, which he said was super delicious (don't know how he loves black coffee, but he liked the taste of this one so that's great). I got a hot oatmilk latte with honey. I swung by Roaming Goat this past Sunday. I was in the Short North and was craving a warm cup o joe. When I hopped on Yelp, the closest coffee shop was Roaming Goat. Upon entering, I was very impressed. The small space was extremely clean and low-key. The menu was simple: coffee. Just the way I like it. I got a pour-over and it was right on point. They offered 4 different pour-overs from different regions. Since I don't know the first thing about tasting notes in coffee, I asked for help from the barista. He was more than happy to help and give me a recommendation. The space is very small and seating is limited. I would recommend this shop for a stop-and-go cup of joe. However, I'm sure you could get work done easily here as there wasn't a large crowd like a lot of shops in the area. I will be back! read more

We first tasted coffee from Roaming Goat at the coffee festival and then went in person to try it again. The Nocino coffee we had at the festival was good, but we didn't see that one in the store. We tried a drip Guatemala and a Cubano. Both were good. I love that they serve Snowville Creamery Half and Half. This establishment is pet-friendly. There's even a doggie water bowl by the door. Popped in here on a busy Sunday morning. They have a sign on the door that states "masks preferred" so I walked all the way back to my car to retrieve mine only to get inside and not see a single worker with one. They were also very slow and talking to their friends the entire time they were making drinks. The line did not move very fast at all. The pastry selection was very slim. Stumbled on this, with Yelp's help, and went on a Sunday around noon. It was busy, and they don't seem to have the sandwiches suggested in the Yelp category, so I went somewhere else for a bite to eat. Came back and there was no line. It's a small place, with a small menu- just the basics, and they do them well. Quiet, good place to work or hang out, and easy to get something to go. I am not a big coffee drinker, but Sweetie is, and we have a toddler, so I have learned what Sweetie likes (and what I like, because I need a caffeine boost too.) We don't frequent Starbucks anymore, but it is a common cultural reference point, so I, and baristas, often refer to their drinks as a guideline. I had a nice conversation with the guy here about that, and coffee in general, and he made exactly what we wanted. Prices are reasonable, service is great, and the coffee was excellent. I had an iced mocha and it was full of coffee and chocolate flavor. Sweetie loved her caramel latte. We will be back. read more

I have been wanting to try Roaming goat for a while now! The name just intrigued me! A part of me wanted little goats roaming around the coffee shop! Unfortunately this was not the case, but they do allow dogs and I got to sit next to one!! I went here early on a weekday and it wasn't very crowded. I got my cappuccino right away and I took a seat at one of the tables against the wall. It was nice and quiet. Perfect for getting work done! Roaming goat is a little coffee shop located right in the heart of the short north. Perfect for people living around the area, however parking is difficult.
