Busy on a saturday and decent coffee! not super artisanal but gets your fix in and great to grab while roaming around the other shops. If you go when it's busy make sure to check how it gets rung up! i understand a mistake here and there but it was $15 for two coffees ($5 24oz cold brew, $0.75 for a splash of oat milk, and $5.15 for a hot latte) and idk where the extra charge was from. Whole milk was poured into the drink instead of oat... thank goodness there wasn't an allergy but watch out for this if you have any. My lord this coffee was DELICIOUS! I ordered a latte with oatmilk and toasted marshmallow and hazelnut syrups. I told the barista gentleman - who was very friendly and personable too I might add - that I didn't want it really sweet. He made it to perfection! Seriously. To the point I wanted to order a 2nd one but thought that might be too much. Business is located in North Market. It stayed pretty busy, but flowed well. Small wait but nothing crazy. Stauf's was my first experience to coffee when I first moved here over 30 yrs ago. Back then it really was just in Grandview and Germ Village. Its what I first think of when you say roaster or Columbus coffee. For the past ten years they have had booth in the middle of the North Market and this is where I found them still! At this location you can get a smaller variety of their roasts but they have most of the super popular ones. They have some excellent dark roasts. Our favorite is Baba Budin. So today we stopped in for a chai latte (me) and a Baba for the hubby. We left very happy. If you haven't tried Staufs... Its worth the wait in the wrap around line to get it. This place is great for people who live on campus, but for others, the parking is limited paid street parking and terrible. The service was quick and good. Located in the North Market at 59 Spruce Street. I do have to say that was not the best service this visit, but I do love Stauf's coffee. I came in close to 5:15pm on 12/21/22. Easy parking in the North Market lot and was picking up some last minute gifts. The guy working the stand was sitting at the bar table, looking down and doing something on his phone. I waited a bit since he appeared to be in the middle of something than finally made some some little noise to get his attention. He mumbled something about not seeing me and came to the counter. It was just kind of awkward. I purchased a pound of whole bean coffee so was able to mark that off the list. The service was just ok and he literally just grabbed a bag from the shelf. It is the holidays so I felt obligated to tip when he flipped the screen around. Besides I generally have decent service here and it could have been a busy day prior to me coming in. You never know. I have had good experiences here and exceptional service in the past but didn't care for this last trip too much. I will most likely hit another preferred location next time. Whichever shop you go, make sure to grab some coffee. I personally have never had a bad flavor (cup or pound). Our first stop at a Stauf's location. Been wanting to try it. We were wandering through the north market and stumbled upon this location and decided to give it a try. It's a cute location and the employees were great. I got the iced latte with English toffee flavoring and it was delicious. My husband got the cold brew coffee. It's kind of his staple drink to try at a new coffee shop. He didn't even need the vanilla flavoring he normally gets. He enjoyed it with just alittle cream. Count me as a big fan of Stauf's. I admit to visiting Starbucks more frequently simply because of there's usually one on route to where I'm headed, but SB doesn't measure up to Stauf's. Late last week during our early morning North Market visit our first stop was for coffees at Stauf's - a SF vanilla latte for me and a Buckeye for my GF - which we enjoyed at the limited seating available. One benefit of the North Market location is that they use Snowville Creamery milk which adds a rich, creaminess to the drinks. (It's also available as an option at the Grandview location). The baristas are invariably friendly and informative. Last week we also hit the Grandview location a great, eclectic place to just sit outside and people watch. The other big plus for this location are the excellent baked goods (and bagels). Particularly outstanding are the blueberry muffins which may have more blueberries than muffin. I'm hooked on them. And this location also has the most extensive section of coffee beans for grinding at home to make the freshest coffee. read more

Great spot for a quick coffee break! Got off the plane in Columbus and knew I had a bit of a drive ahead of me so I wanted to get a quick pick-me up. The cold brew was lovely; not too acidic and I was grateful for the variety of non-dairy creamers/milks. The brownie was a blend of fudgey and cakey which was perfect and it wasn't sooo decadent that I couldn't finish it. It was the perfect little treat. It's been a minute since I've visited a Stauf's. Not because I don't love it or anything but well.. COVID. I've definitely been brewing coffee at home a lot more. However, a friend and I were on a brisk morning walk downtown and we both found ourselves in need of some coffee. The North Market wasn't too far and we knew we could get Stauf's! We walked our littles butts there and got in line just before the line started getting long. The entire experience was quick and pretty much contactless. While I've been here before and of course it was different in the past, I'm glad they are taking extra steps to keep everyone safe and healthy. I almost always get a latte from Stauf's, with soy milk, and sometimes with a flavoring and sometimes not. Vanilla is always a good choice. I love that some of their locations have lavender and wish they had it here, but it's all good. I'm so glad they are open and still serving their awesome coffee. read more

I have always been a fan of Stauf's and their coffee. I was in the North Market area and decided to get an iced chai latte with almond milk and an iced cold brew with cream. There wasn't a line, which they usually would on a normal day, so I got my order super quick. The whole thing cost about $7.70 which isn't too terrible. They typically leave out the creamer and milks, but because of the virus, they did not so the employee poured it out for me. They still had the sugar, sugar cane, and honey left out for customers to put into their drinks. I really appreciate this because you can sweeten your own drink however you want! The cold brew had a chocolatey flavor to it and was delicious. The chai latte on the other hand- it was more sour and tasted off. I've had plenty of chai tea and chai tea lattes in my life and I know it shouldn't taste sour like that. I was hoping for the slight sweetness and spice. Other than that their coffees are good. One year, they had a chocolate cherry latte that was just delicious so I always make sure to ask for the specialty when I visit. The North Market location does a Market Spice latte with a blend from Market Spice and sweetened with honey. It was not too sweet and had a great flavor from the spices. I'd definitely order again! It's all bitter, and if you look at their wholesale it's evident why. Wayyyy dark roasted beans dominate their product. If you're someone looking for a great place to study and don't mind a sub-par product, this is your place. If you're fine with the dollar per hour of parking outside, you'll enjoy a nice afternoon studying. Their wifi is pretty responsive, they have a ton of tables for studying, and the environment is very friendly. Outlets all over the place. Staff is pretty friendly and will work you towards a drink, however their baristas aren't the most knowledgable since this is on the lower end of specialty coffee shops. Had the vanilla iced latte with almond milk. Was pleased to be greeted so kindly by a gentleman barista that showed me the iced drink options. It's a bit of an awkward set up on an inside corner of North Market's first floor-- very high in foot traffic. I asked if they were local and the gentleman told us about how Stauf's is a Columbus local chain that bought all of the Cup of Joe locations and are 3rd in local US coffee shops. I guess they distribute a lot of product throughout the US. Did not have to wait at all in order to place an order, waited a total of 2 minutes for coffee. In this day and time, understanding we have been dealing with COVID for 2 years, and not having any statewide mask mandate in place, it is too much to continue to require masks for service. Having said that, and considering everyone has different opinions on masks, it is understandable that some may actually think they work. Regardless of anyones opinion on the subject of masks, it is not ok to be treated unfairly because of a different view. That is what happened today to myself and 2 daughters at the North Market location. We were talked down to by the girl who was there on 2/3/22 at 9am. My 7 year old daughter asked "Why do you have to wear a mask". She responded "Because we are in the middle of a pandemic, but I guess YOU GUYS don't have to." Then I asked if they carried non dairy milk and she just pointed to the sign. No response. I was not rude to her for wearing a mask, just as I do not expect to be treated differently because I choose to breathe clean air. In this day and time, there are too many differing opinions to be rude to anyone. I will not be back. Businesses should treat people kindly and fairly no matter their beliefs. read more

This is my first time trying Stauf's which I know is ridiculous because it is somewhat of a Columbus staple. I have passed this coffee shop a million times both in Grandview and in the North Market and always loved the smells from it. I decided to get their cappuccino and my fiance' got their espresso. The environment was very peaceful (we went on. Weekday) but I know how packed North Market can get on a weekend-especially when there is a convention. The workers were very friendly. It was nice to sip our coffee and look around at all the action going on. I noticed there were barrels of coffee and asked if they sold beans which they do. We just moved back to Columbus and were very excited to try Stauf's. While the coffee was delicious, the person with the long dark curly hair making our drinks was very rude. First, they berated the customer before us for pulling down her mask to DRINK HER COFFEE. Then when the customer asked for a napkin because the drink made a mess on the counter, the person working there rolled their eyes. We were next in line and got similar treatment. My drink was made very messy and when I asked for a napkin, the person working acted like I was wasting their time. There was no "Thank you" or other gracious language.
