We always look for small local restaurants, and Roadside 'Que was one of our best finds yet in this area. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and guides first-time guests through the menu options at your table before you place your order at the counter. We love that the meat is humanely grown, non GMO, and locally sourced-- as are other menu items when available. My husband had the rib lunch, which was delicious. He especially loved the rub seasonings. I had the Southern barbecue salad, best I've had anywhere around the US. Served on a bed of peppery fresh arugula, delicious tomato, barbecue brisket, and topped with micro greens, just the right amount of chopped onion, grated cheddar and onion straws, this salad was simply delicious. We also liked the sides we tried. The warm German sweet-sour potato salad was good, if you're open to trying, and the Mac and cheese is really delicious-- made today with cavatappi pasta instead of elbow, and topped with finely grated cheese. Overall, Roadside 'Que offers a very casual, low-key dine-in option with excellent barbecue and makes the overall experience a reason to go again. We've been to the Roadside Que about 5 times since April 2021. Justin and Greg run a fantastic restaurant. It's a hidden gem because it's tucked neatly in a shopping center. I cannot stop ordering their ribs with smoked macaroni and cheese. These are truly the best ribs I've ever eaten. The staff is so humble and kind. Traveling through and found this restaurant on Yelp. So glad we did! The bbq did not disappoint! We had the brisket sandwich, Mac and cheese and the brussel sprout hash. Highly recommend all of this! The meat was so flavorful and tender - I had the sweet sauce and my husband had the vinegar sauce - both were delicious. Cheese sauce is homemade and so good. My daughter and I had the BBQ Southern Salad. The meat was amazing. They use fresh meat from local farmers. The difference is in the taste and texture of the meat. The salad had mixed spring greens, cheddar cheese, spring onions, tomatoes. The salad dressings and sauces are homemade. I had bbq sauce and white sauce. Perfect locally owned place to stop while passing through. Food comes out fast, so it's a nice quick stop. I went for lunch and got the brisket sandwich combo with bama white sauce. It was very good! Stepped inside with my wife and we were immediately greeted by a nice man in a ball cap who sincerely cared for us to know what was on the menu. I ordered up the 1/2 lb pork plate and my wife ordered up the 1/2 lb brisket plate. When asked about sugar in the coleslaw they went and got the cook to verify "no sugar" (I'm eating low carb). Very nice of them! We sat down with our drinks and a few minutes later we were greeted with a FREE appetizer (Shrimp and slaw) that was delicious. Dustin, the owner and cook cane out to greet us and struck up a conversation. VERY friendly staff here. My pork plate was fantastic - juicy and tender with a vinegar sauce I selected (they have three kinds to choose from). I also had the brussel sprout hash (wonderful) and the coleslaw (just like I like it- not dried out and not overly doused in too many ingredients. My wife's brisket was perfect. This is not you average Alabama BBQ restaurant filled with poor service burnt out servers and staff. You'll notice something different about this place when you step through the door. The food is amazing and the staff is absolutely wonderful. They thoughtfully source and handcraft their food, which is something you don't often find in this area.
