I've used this company for many years with great service, response time, solutions, etc from the original owners however, recently the business was sold around 01/2026. New owners have converted to a corporate business model which is NOT working. The new owners are not local and do they even know what a pool is??? He contacted four peers in the field including the Pentair representative. He was very pleasant to deal with and explained everything he was doing. Awful customer service by Helman. They recently went through some kind of change in ownership and are now complete scam artists. Doubled their price and double billed. Blamed their new "Software" for the new accelerated billing date and refused to make it right despite being a customer for many years. Their pool "service" last about 10 minutes tops where they don't scrub the tile (though they claim to) or balance chemicals most of the time. Be careful going with these guys, because as Helman said, you'll be dispensable since they have 1500 accounts. read more

I have called 3x, spoken to the manager at least 2x regarding an on going issue. I have asked to NOT HAVE THE HOTTUB CLEANED WITH A METAL BRUSH. The tines break off and we are stepping on them repeatedly. The other day I stepped on 5 pieces of metal lodged in my foot in the hot tub. This organization is so poorly run and disorganized. I am new to the Coachella Valley and last year experienced my first Summer here. My brand new pool was 98F in the Summer. I contacted the original builder of the pool to see if a chiller could be added. He advised not without ripping out pavers, my waterfall and laying new pipe. Would have cost over $10k. This year, I Googled Glacier Chillers and Pentair authorized installers in the area. I came across ROADRUNNER POOLS. I called, spoke with Cindy Clark, the owner and explained what I would like to attempt to install a chiller. I immediately picked up on the fact that she is a professional on the phone. She is short, concise and not a friend to chit chat with. I can understand why some folks with poor reviews simply don't get her. She advised she would send her BEST tech over to view the site so she could make recommendations and possibly provide a proposal. The tech showed up as scheduled, looked at my equipment, took some measurements and explained to me exactly what they could do to accommodate my desire for a cool pool. It came down to adding a pad, moving my pool heater and turning it so had a narrower footprint, some digging, pipe cutting, adding actuators so everything is controlled from my phone and I agreed to the written proposal. One day later, the equipment was installed and my pool dropped from 89F to 80F. The chiller costs $0.63/day verses a heat pump which is slower and costs nearly $10/day to run. This is an excellent company. I reiterate, Cindy is a pro. She's not on the phone to chit chat, so please don't form a negative opinion based on a phone conversation. I am attaching a photo so you can verify for yourselves what a phenomenal job they did at my home! Hired to clean and maintain pool and spa. Attendance was about 80%, without any notification whatsoever. Although scheduled for Tuesday & Friday, I never knew when or IF they would arrive. When I would contact them regarding missed services, they were unaware the cleaner hadn't come. I believe they use unlicensed subcontractors and do not work with responsible individuals. Rarely had the same cleaner. Rarely had uniformed cleaner with company truck. Attached photo shows my spa AFTER three weeks of asking them to resolve chemistry issue that developed under their supervision. The repair service is responsive and proficient. However, they sent me two invoices for a repair with different prices. Unfortunately, I paid the first which was higher than the second. They claimed I hadn't paid either. When I provided documentation, they refused to return the overpayment and stopped answering my requests. As mentioned by others, the owner Cindy is difficult to work with and apparently doesn't feel customer service requires honesty and respect. I paid them to install a pump and a salt water cell for my pool and all that went great. They said they can't give me warranty unless they serviced the pool. I hired them at a higher rate than what I was paying but for the warranty I thought should be worth it. It wasn't. The guy didn't know how to work a salt cell and he quickly converted back into chlorine by regulating with chemicals instead of adjusting the salt. I asked him about the cell and why it wasn't all green (green lights means salt level is good) he said it was too hot. In the winter he said it was too cold. I don't go swimming often so I didn't notice it wasn't salt water until covid hit and I had more time. That's when I noticed it was back to chlorine. The pool kept getting yellow and green so I finally (after 3 years) decided to cancel my services. I called the manager to let her know and she didn't even bat an eye. I asked her, "don't you want to know why I'm canceling?" She said no, people just whine and complain anyway, but if it helps you go ahead. It's obvios they don't care about their clients. Btw, my new pool guy came and said the chemical levels are SO bad it'll take a year to get them right unless I want to drain the pool. Horrible! read more

It's very surprising to see the mixed reviews for Roadrunner as we had a great experience with them. After having Maui Pools come out for a home warranty call, replace a part that did not need to be replaced and not fix the issue - we were told by Pentair that there was a problem with our pool heater and not their equipment. We decided to get a Pentair specialist to look at our equipment - went online and were referred to Roadrunner. The technician came out and not only fixed the issue, he also fixed incorrect wiring, got our pool light to work and talked me out of buying something we didn't need. She said they take photos whenever they are at the house, but she has never been able to provide said photos. This is my vacation home so I don't visit that regularly. and they know it! I am very unhappy with Roadrunner Pools. I am a remote owner, I do not live in Palm Springs and I hired them to service our swimming pool paid one year in advance twice a week service. Neighbors and property manager told me they were there maybe twice a month. I received complaints from all my AirBnb guests about the pool not being cleaned properly and almost lost my listing on AirBnb because the pool was unsanitary and green. Do not use this company! I bought a 7,000 dollar pool pump from them not even 3 months ago. I am now currently having my second issue with the pump. And my second issue with getting them out to the house to check what's going on! Both times I've called with an issue they want to charge me a $95 dollar fee to send someone out to check the work THEY did incorrect to begin with! It's infuriating. They spent an entire day hooking everything up than a two minute tutorial and they were off. Well the pool never heated up or the spa to any reasonable temperature. Basically, it never worked and they refuse to come back to fix it. The owner Cindy is the rudest person I ever had the displeasure to deal with. Terrible service. They started off good repairing stuff for the pool. Worked out good. They drained the pool and added new water. We pay to have the pool cleaned twice a week. The first week you could tell it was cleaned twice, looked great. Week 2, one visit we have video monitoring around the whole house. Third week nothing. We called Cindy, she promised us someone would be out Sunday or Monday because we have a huge outbreak of Algae and it has stained our pool! We never had that issue doing it ourselves. It's horrible and unusable. Sunday and Monday rolled by and of course the pool is dirty and green still. They have a key with access. I checked my cameras to see if anyone actually came and nothing. I sent a letter of full explantion to the owner. Today I received my letter back unopened. This seems to show an arrogant attitude to me. The letter notes that this company is a state licensed contractor and is required under state law to have a written contract for any repair over $500. They seek $850 with no itemized bill and no written contract. Moreover, under California law you cannot remove anything from the residence of people over 65 without a written contract. None was offered by them and there was no writing. Sending someone back their own letter unopened is pretty fair example of the methods this company and the Pool Store next to Stater Bros on Hwy 11 in La Quinta are trying to pull off. Any responsible small business should listen to complaints. They do not want to. I am contesting their charges with my credit card. I think they will have to listen then. read more

I am a rental owner who has been employing Roadrunner for years and have had many complaints from tenants that the pool service I use is not coming to clean. When I contact Cindy she is nothing but argumentative and defensive, making excuses and basically telling me, oh well! Her techs send pictures and it looks clean to her. Today was it! I am personally at my rental home and have been here on my 2 service days. Tuesday, no one arrived to clean and Friday the tech arrived, parked in my driveway and took a NAP! They've been maintaining my family's pool since at least 2015 and we have had to email the owner dozens of times asking them to clean the pool better, something isn't working, the technician hasn't shown up, etc. For the past 2 weeks we have spoken to the owner multiple times about the pool being green, requesting they fix it and she said her tech cleaned the pool. She sent the tech out again 4 days ago to clean the algae up after my husband spoke to her and the pool is still green. We had the water tested at Leslie's pool supplies and there is basically no chlorine in the pool per the results. How is that even possible when they were just here 4 days ago to clean up the pool? They were here the day after it rained and I asked the tech to add salt to the pool since had rained the day before. I had road runner pools install a new salt cell in my pool in April 2001 the invoice says it had a 4 year manufacturer warranty. July 2022 The cell has gone bad and I called them about it and they tell me they do not warrant the Brand of salt cell they installed. That I had to call the manufacturer they sent me a link to dealers who could test the cell but nothing within 50 miles closest was 79 miles away. and they do not service my area. So I either drive the 160 mile round trip with no guarantee that it can be tested and or replace while I wait. So thank you Road runner for not standing behind the products you installed. Am an out of town owner. I paid for twice weekly cleaning and maintenance. The only thing they were good at was promptly billing me. When I returned for the season there was no salt reading at all....salt is supposed to be included in service. They never checked the baskets for cleaning or repair....they were so broken that the plastic pieces seized up the motor. The bubbler line to the spa was broken.... huge amounts of calcium had built up. So far $700.00 in repairs. The owner never returns calls. Thank goodness I have a numeric lock on my gate.... I changed the code and hired a new service.... They got a 2 star because they are very good at billing on time ;-/ read more

We hired Road Runner to fix a leak around our skimmer. We also asked them (while the pool was drained) to acid wash the Pebble Tec surface, and clean the mineral deposits from the tile. They were out right away, and did a fantastic job. We had been having problems with our old pool cleaner, who cleaned the pool but left the pool deck very dirty. So now we've switched to Roadrunner Pools for our cleanings, and we have both a clean pool and a clean deck. I've been impressed with all of the workers who were here. A good company. read more

We paid $1800 dollar to install a pump and it is not working as expected as it was just installed a few weeks ago. Leak started and their owner didn't want to fix it as it is part of the installation process; Union in front of the pump should've been eliminated as part of the installation process but it was not according to my pool maintenance guy. Their first technician told me the problem with our spa was caused by the nozzles and all of them should be replaced. I asked him how sure he was about that and he replied, "100 percent." The tech took the old nozzles with him and they ordered replacement nozzles. A second technician installed the new nozzles. It did not solve the problem. This technician told me the spa plumbing had to be checked for a clog and they would need to dig into the ground at a cost of "$200 up." A few minutes later, he called his "boss" who said the problem was the spa pump. Two technicians and their "boss" each had different a different opinion as to how to repair the problem. The second technician told me he would write his "report" and Cindy from the office would be calling me later that day or the next day to discuss options. I have not heard from anyone at this company since then. read more

I was referred to Roadrunner Pools by a local nursery I contacted because a fountain at our home needed maintenance and a minor repair and they also do that type of work. I contacted them on a Friday and we scheduled an appointment for 9 a.m. the following Tuesday. The basic service call was quoted at $95, with further cost based on the assessment by the technician of what was required. Expensive, but I agreed to it primarily because the repair item was a leak and I wanted it fixed. Nobody arrived at 9 on Tuesday. I called at 9:30 and left a message asking about the status of our appointment. Nobody called back and it's now three days later and I still have not heard from them. This is a pretty poor way to run a business, in my opinion. If they had a scheduling issue, they could have called and they also should have returned my telephone call. It's common courtesy, a concept apparently foreign to Roadrunner. From other reviews, it appears my experience is not unique. Stay away. read more

These people are awful. Unresponsive when I have called for service. When people have shown up, they were generally helpless, useless and rude. One guy simply said "I don't know what's wrong and I don't know how to fix it." And he drove away. No apology and no follow-up, even after I called their office for help. After firing them the new company fixed it in a day. Roadrunner replaced some electrical stuff near the pool heater and left all the old parts lying on the ground. The door to the new electrical box they installed wouldn't close. I honestly don't know how this company remains in business. We hired Roadrunner in 2018, they had a guy named Dominic come and tell us we need to fix some issues in the pool. We of course agreed to the work that was needed.. They came out in July 8th 2019 drained the pool apparently fixed the pool . Refilled the pool, added an extra 600.00 dollars to the already quoted 900.00 tab. We put the home on the market thinking our pool was in tip top shape. Our buyer was there to meet Dominic to go over any pool issues with her. He blatantly lied to this woman and told her they never did the work and that the work was _rigged"! What an idiot. We have all the documentation and surveillance video of all trucks they had in front of our home for three days!!! I don't know if Cindy is a con artist or just plain stupid..
