This location deserves only one star. But I do love the concept RR sport and their VIP program. For an insignificant annual fee, your family get frequent discounts and coupon and best of all can try your shoes for three months no question asked. Very important for running shoes. But the sales staffs in the location are just so bitter and borderline rude! Especially the red hair girl/lady. She never introduced herself to me so I don't know her name. I already did my research online so I know what I wanted to try and I know the shoes come in wide versions. All the reviews suggested to get the wide versions so I asked her for it. She said, 'no they don't!'. I asked her to recheck because I saw them online and she insisted they don't. Wouldn't even accept the fact that maybe she was wrong. So I settled with the regular size. She came out with shoes that are completely untied and soles that were out and not for the same brand!!! Of I pay for a $110 pair of shoes, I would want the whole thing intact. So rude, and this is not the first time either. We were here last time and had the same reaction but this time was way worse. It's not my fault that you have to deal with feet all day long! The manager was nice though, I purposely went to talk to the manager when i wanted to try another pair and ended up getting them. You guys have much more traffic than the New Brunswick location but I much prefer NB because the staffs there, all of them, are very nice and courteous. My experience with Derek involved something we share in common which are races and crossfit. He was able to share a like hack that I have happily added now to my habits. I went because I liked the idea of being fitted for my running sneaker. I am fairly new to running and wanted to be sure I was wearing a good shoe. Anyway, I had no idea that when Ii was being fitted for an insole that this was NOT part of the sneaker price. The person who fitted me, neglected to mention the $70 price. Even after I felt that I was tricked, duped, sold something I would probably have declined, I decided to give it a fair shot. If it helped then fine. Did it help? NO, NO, NO! I have never experienced pain in my arches until I was duped into buying this garbage. 10 minutes into a run and I have to stop to pull these things out of my shoes. Buyer beware. After my last trip to Road Runner was less than stellar, I was contacted by the manager, Talia. We discussed what happened in detail, and long story short she apologized and said that she would talk to the employee about the situation. She also offered to rectify the situation by offering to fit me for a sneaker herself if the Asics I purchased did not work out for me. They didn't fit as well as I hoped so I came back today. Not only did she examine my foot to help me figure out the issues at hand, but she made a point to work with another employee with a similar issue to help me find the perfect shoe. Let's start with my sister in law was somehow able to charge my credit card with her purchase just by giving my name at the register since I have the vip membership account. Didn't have my card with her not was i with her. Didn't even know this happened until I saw a mysterious charge from roadrunner and contacted customer service. They refunded me. Okay... now I returned a pair of shoes, the cashier never asked me to insert my chip, the card # printed on the receipt is not mine. 2 weeks pass no refund to my card. I call customer service give them the card I actually purchased with..10 days later no refund. They claim to keep cards on file for "easy returns". Needless to say do not get the vip membership and save yourself from the horrendous in store customer service and go to another sneaker store. After visiting Roadrunners and plunking down $250, i went from running a half marathon to unable to complete a 5k! It may have been the shoes, socks or soles, but because I didn't join VIP club, I was told I that I could not return or get any credit from a transaction that occurred less than a month ago They only stand by their "expert" advice if you pay for it!? AWFUL customer service! Road Runner staff used to be very friendly and helpful at Paramus. Have been going to this store since 2013. Just went to get a new pair of orthotics 9/22/2008 and the service was horrible!. I was told to write my name on the list but they don't follow it. Staff would just pass by you and not even ask if you have been helped. I waited for an hour before I finally got my orthotics. If I have a spare I probably would have left. WILL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN. I have been training for a half marathon and my knees started to hurt. I was told by my mother in law (who has been running marathons for longer than I have been born) that it was my shoes, that I was way to young to have knee problems. Low and behold, with the expertise and help of Rich at Road Runner Sports, I now have shoes that feel better on my feet than ANY OTHER RUNNING SHOE I have ever worn. He really took the time to help me too. He didn't rush me, encouraged me to go for comfort, showed me brands of running shoes that I've never tried before and even analyzed my feet (turns out my right is slightly bigger than my left). Rich put me on a treadmill with every pair that I liked and let me decide which shoe was the perfect fit in my own time. They really do care here. It's not about selling you, it's about helping you. I've never experienced anything like it and I'm BEYOND happy to now be a VIP at Road Runner Sports(awesome deal by the way, it's like insurance for your shoes so you aren't stuck with a pair you come to find out isn't right for you). Thank God my best friend came with me and is a physical therapist the customer service is AWFULLLLL. I went to get sized and the employee did my measurement after that a very attractive young lady walked in and he left me completely and spent 2 hours for her. I have had incredible success with great pricing of shoes, and a great attitude when I had to return them. People have been courteous and helpful. Went today to buy a new pair of running sneakers. Being new to buying running sneakers i had no idea what I was looking for. Kyle helped me and brought me out some pairs of shoes to try on but then disappeared. I had to keep waiting for him to come back to ask him questions about how the shoes were supposed to feel. This review is long overdue, as my experience in the store was over a month ago. And because I took so long, unfortunately I have forgotten the most important information, which is the name of one of the people who was so helpful to me in the store. I had been a VIP member for some time, so when I made a large purchase and was expecting to return some other items, I was surprised to find out my membership was no longer valid. After checking for administrative error, it was likely that the VIP membership had lapsed or I had chosen not to renew it, although I didn't remember that. Despite that fact, the manager (maybe Beth?) was extremely accommodating and allowed me to reinstate the membership and get the full benefits I was expecting, even though it technically was not active at the time. She bent over backwards to make sure everything went smoothly for me, and I was able to leave with exactly what I was hoping for, exchanging some old items and purchasing new ones. The salesperson who helped me, I believe, was Andres, and he was fantastic, helpful, and patient the whole way through. He'll also suggest socks for you as well. Went in recently for sneakers to wear specifically for cardio and had the pleasure of dealing with Neil V. He was helpful and pointed me in the right direction of what I was looking for and needed. He had worked the entire day and was still very interactive despite myself coming in an hour before closing. He explained why the type of sneaker was exactly what I could use and even taught me a ankle lock with my lace that will give my ankles the stability while running. I highly recommend seeking him out when going to road runner. While other sneaker stores (dicks, finish line, foot locker) will sell you on anything you think you may need, Neil took the time to steer me in the right direction of what will help me long term. Absolutely blown away with my experience. Went it for a new pair of sneakers where I was met by Rich. Right of the bat he was nice and professional, introducing himself and shaking my hand. He asked if I needed help or if I was just browsing. I said I was looking to purchase a pair of sneakers. He asked if I had some time to spare or if I would like to just purchase a pair. I told him I had some time which he then made it his personal goal to make sure that I walked out with the best pair of sneakers to meet my needs. He brought me through a short questionnaire, followed by a short jog on the treadmill (which was recorded), followed by a 3D scan of my feet. After all of this he evaluated my results and footage ecplaining each piece to ensure my understanding. We then molded a pair of insoles specific to my feet. Now, to the trials. He brought out about 5-6 pairs of sneakers; which I tried on with and without my custom insoles, as well as had the opportunity to try them out by jogging on the treadmill. With each sneaker he checked for appropriate length and width, as well as comfort. He explained specific differences between each sneaker and the reasons which he chose them for me. When we finally found the pair, he still wanted to make sure that I was completely comfortable with them. He asked if there were any specific shoes which I wanted to try, going in the back to bring out one more pair per my request. Again he explained the differences of this sneaker and how it may aid or hinder my performance. When finally deciding on the pair he explained the return policies and VIP program. Overall, I went in for sneakers but left with an experience all thanks to Rich for his passion for his job and friendly personality. Definitely promoting this store to anyone I know. read more

I don't usually bother to write good reviews but this merits it. I usually buy my shoes from RR in Paramus but in a pinch this summer (forgot shoes on important gym training day) I bought a pair at Jack Rabbit in the city. I usually keep 2 pairs of shoes in rotation and I bought another pair at RR a few weeks later. I totally forgot I bought the first pair at JR and when I had an issue with the insole (sock liner I learned) during a race in one of the pairs I brought them into RR in Paramus to see what they could do. They told me I didn't buy them there and I was indignant... of course I bought them there! Started digging through my bank statement on my phone and boom, remembered my error. That's when Lyle took my shoes anyway, went in back and found some insoles (sock liners) that worked for the pair and didn't charge me. You know what, that's why I'll keep coming back to you RR and not the myriad other joints I can get my shoes at. read more

I've been having a lot of knee pain recently which limited my ability to even walk, so my boyfriend (who bought a pair of running shoes from the store a while ago and loved them) told me to try to get insoles. When I first went to the RR I loved the whole experience of getting the custom insoles. The staff member was really nice and helpful. However, when it came to picking up a pair of shoes I really didn't like the fact that associate didn't ask what my budget was, so she was trying to sell the most expensive pairs first. After my bf and i picked the pair we liked, we went to checkout. I particularly told the girl at the register that we were going to pay separately. Even though we ended up paying separately, we got ONE receipt. A few days later it dawned on my how overpriced those insoles were, considering the material they were made out of. So I found myself a much cheaper ones, but better quality at Dick's sporting goods, and I absolutely loved them. When I was trying to return my purchase I had the same girl who checked us out in the first place servicing me. Originally I spent $174, but she said that my refund was only $166 (shoes and insoles were unworn). I dont think she had any idea what she was doing. I got all my money back, but because of two unpleasant experiences in 4 days, I wouldn't want to go back to the store again. Shopping online it is. read more

They explain and take the time to help you understand - and they seem to be runners which helps - whether you are just starting out or are a serious runner. (Brendan is truly awesome). Service to actually try on shoes is very mixed - and in some cases truly awful. Some of the people really know shoes. Others simply don't and don't spend the time to understand whether they fit or not. If it doesn't work change sale reps. Store can get very busy at times so time your visit. read more
