My experience was amazing and yes, I am talking absolutely it my routine dental cleaning and exam. The hygienist was so friendly and down to earth. The practice is nice, clean and modern. The dentist was SO friendly. For the first time ever I was told everything looked great (with the exception of a cracked crown) and I did not need any additional "work". Regarding the cracked crown...the dentist said he recommended a longer appointment to have the tooth fixed and a small cavity next to it fixed. When I asked about a temporary crown I was informed that I would be leaving with my permanent that day!!! This dentist makes his own crowns, everything taken care of at once! I was overjoyed to hear this and also impressed with needing only one more appointment. I would definitely suggest this office to anyone looking for a new dentist.

As soon as you walk in, you're greeted with smiles, apples/oranges, and water. After mere moments, they hygienists are ready for you (I even arrived to my appointment today AHEAD of schedule) and they will offer suggestions if you're dealing with any sort of tooth/oral issues. I had extreme sensitivity from exposed roots over my canines (beginning around 2005) that I have had checked out by SEVERAL dentists over the years, ranging from Wisconsin to Arizona. In 2007, I even had a skin graft done (where my dentist at the time took healthy tissue from the roof of my mouth and transplanted it over the roots of my sensitive teeth to act as "replacement gums"). I was told that my natural gums would accept this new tissue and it too, would form into natural gum tissue. This was okay for about a year... until the new tissue had disappeared all together. Ten years later (in March of 2015), when I finally couldn't handle the sensitivity any longer, I went to Apple Town Dental Care. I explained everything to the hygienist and Dr. Smith. It was suggested to me to have some composite filling done over my sensitive roots (they would basically extend my tooth upwards and cover the sensitive areas), so... I hesitantly scheduled an appointment for this "composite filling" a week later. It's been well over a year since Dr. Smith performed the procedure, and I cannot thank him enough. It has changed my life around! At one time, I couldn't have any drinks with ice in them because the sensitivity was so bad. Now, I have no problem drinking hot coffee or cold refreshments, and no fear of insane sensitivity when I brush my teeth at the wrong angle. Shout out to Dr. Smith, Sue, Carol, and EVERYONE else at ATDC! Keep up the excellent work so your patients can continue to be proud of their smile!!

Just to start out with my main point here: I honestly can't recommend this dentist's office enough…read more I've been going to see Dr. Hanneman for about a year now, at the recommendation of my doctor (Robert Devermann, also highly recommended, by the way). I went into the whole thing very apprehensive, having been one of those people who hadn't seen a dentist in a good decade or so. And it wasn't pretty. I needed a lot of work, some of which had to be outsourced to specialists in the area (shoutouts here to Dr. Schroeder at Riverside Endodontics and Dr. Ridenour at Winnebago Oral Surgery -- both excellent). What I'm trying to drive home is that none of this was smooth sailing for me, but Dr. Hanneman and the entire staff at Hanneman & Dustrude were all so kind, skilled, efficient, and helpful every step of the way that it honestly wasn't a bad experience overall. Plus, alleviation of the anxiety that comes with fearing for your oral health while being too scared to go see someone has taken a weight off my shoulders that's truly felt every day. The staff there works with your insurance and helps make it clear to you what's going to be covered and what you'll be required to pay. They're also always so nice when you call -- whether you've got a symptom you're worried about or want to check on an upcoming appointment time, they're always genuinely friendly, and it really makes a difference. The hygienists and assistants are so wonderful as well. You get the impression everyone there honestly enjoys their job and takes pride in giving great care to patients. I can feel that every time I visit (and I've visited quite a few times for just one year!) Oh, and they always let you watch TV (with sound via headphones) during a procedure so you can distract yourself or zone out -- you even get to hold the remote! Whether you're looking to switch from your current provider or finally buckling up to visit a dentist after some years away, I wholeheartedly recommend Hanneman & Dustrude.

It ran exactly as expected, our insurance was given a pre authorization and we paid what was expected as our portion. Awesome, this was like every other dental procedure we have ever had (7 kids, already been through 2 sets of wisdom tooth extractions). They did this or the extraction, a $700 procedure, we paid our portion and it was good. Fast forward almost a year later it was time for the implantation portion. Didn't think anything of it, we had a scan for the procedure a few months before the actual surgery, we were not told anything about billing, we assumed it was going to be handled like the 1st surgery. Boy were we wrong, when we got the office we were required to pay for the procedure IN FULL!! Even though we have dental insurance, not only do we have dental insurance but it's one of the best plans available! I actually called my insurance while I was waiting and was told that even they recommend submitting a preauthorization so there are no surprises, obviously this office just wants to take the money, collect interest on it until they have to refund it. Even the insurance company was as thrown by this shady business practice as I was. Needless to say with 4 girls coming up needing their wisdom teeth taken out, I can guarantee where we will NOT be coming!
