What a wonderful park! This park has different areas for various age groups. There is also a water area but it's thankfully it's blocked off at the moment due to the weather. Another awesome feature is the different types of things for kids to climb on. Tons of grass areas for kids to run around or maybe throw a pigskin around. There is even a huge general seating area for you to have lunch here. Even a large man-made lake for you to get in all of your fishing desires. Tons of areas to have birthday parties and there are plenty of food options across the street. I highly recommend this park. read more

I have driven by Mesa Riverview Park several times over the years, but have never been, at least until last week. Wow, what a beautiful park! Especially at sunset. My favorite part of the park was definitely the rope course. It was so much fun! The course is hidden at the back of the park, so I recommend downloading the app, Avem. I also like the splash pad being on so late in the year especially for young ones. We've had 4 birthday parties here and have always had a great time!! The park is also kept up very well. read more

I'm always looking around for the best parks to take my little senior dog. As she ages, I try to take her to more places so that she can live a little. Plus, she just loves going out! This one is super nice! There's a well marked out path of pavement that loops around the entire park. It's super wide so no need to stop repeatedly to make way or even accidentally bump into others when passing by. There is plenty of green trees and grass for my dog to see and smell also. The entire park is very spacious. Although the times that I have gone have been quite busy, I kind of like knowing that it's a well populated area. It feels super safe and happy sharing the same space with other people or families who are enjoying the park as well. There's a huge playground there for children and many picnic tables available. They even have a small water park playground for the kiddies, which I probably would have loved to have gone to when I was much younger. There's plenty of parking also, which was very quick and easy to find. I definitely noticed right away how well maintained, well lit and clean this area was. One aspect of the park I enjoyed the most; however, was definitely the lake! I don't see a lot of large bodies of water like this particular one locally so the fact that there's a huge lake there is so refreshing to see. Even on hot days you can sometimes feel a nice breeze from the water. Sometimes it can get quite sunny and windy depending on the weather. However, being originally from California it totally reminds me of the beautiful beaches and piers that we love to stroll! read more

My daughters favorite park! It's beautiful & my daughter loves the climbing structure!

I live a short walk from this park and I had been waiting with anticipation for it to open up this year. I went to the Double Play event a few weeks ago and have since visited a few times to go walking in the evenings. The park is gorgeous. Whenever I am there or drive past, I see families, runners, folks fishing, just a ton of different types of people taking advantage of what the park has to offer. I think it was a great use of the space and the only thing I wish they had added was a recreational area for softball/volleyball/basketball courts. Hopefully this, along with Cubs Stadium, will bring some much needed business to Mesa Riverview. read more

Needed a new stomping ground for my kids so after doing some more research set out to try Riverview. The parking is ample (unless there's an event) and it's really clean. All the play areas are in good condition and the best part is no wood chips or sand. This usually causes dirty shoes and uncomfortableness for my kids so the spongey area is soft in case kids fall and clean as well. They also have a giant splash pad area which we have not tried yet as it's too cold now. Overall, I think it's a great place to bring your kids and all the play areas will keep them busy (definitely try the rope swing play area, my daughter especially loved sliding back and forth) read more

Riverview Park existed before, but never like this! As the Cubs Spring Training Stadium was being built, the adjacent park also had a facelift. Now the park offers something for everyone! I love to take my dog for walks around the lake and watch the ducks and geese swim around. Or throw a football around in the field with my boyfriend. For kids, there is a super cool playground with a huge Spiderman web to climb and a little water park splash pad. The design of the park is very atheistically pleasing with rows of palm trees, bridges and curvy sidewalks making for a good spot for family picnics, bike rides or a quiet place to read a book. The parking situation is a little confusing upon the first visit to this park. My suggestion is to figure out which area of the park you want to hang out and find parking close to that. The parking near the playground seems to be hard to come by. If you live close to the park, maybe ride a bike! read more

Ok, well the hotel is finished and dragonfly season is over, so this park gets a bump in stars. Mostly saw fisherman and a few couples and runners on this sunny afternoon. They have plenty of benches and the views are good as well. Yes, still in Mesa, but close to Tempe border, so as long as its not spring training, this is a good place to relax for an hour or so. read more

This is a really nice park. Couple jungle gyms that are really neat. One is really tall with ropes all around it. The other is like a wave with ropes to climb on. There is a splash pad with lots of spraying water. Very nice. Hope it stays that way. read more

Umm.. the park is a little gross because the bathrooms are NASTY but hey, it's a public bathroom at a public waterpark so I'm not sure what I expected. I would go here to play Pokemon Go because they had 4 overlapping Pokestops, which was kinda cool. But it's by the water park so.. kinda gross. It was definitely sweet to see tons of families here, and sometimes there are vendors selling Mexican treats. It's a well-lit park, sometimes with LOUD music playing, and I could see why some people would like to bring their families. Parking can get cutthroat, with people "saving" parking spots by having children stand there and not move so that another family car can come 5 minutes later. Lol annoying. But whatever. If you don't mind walking, you can park across the water lake thing and park by the hotel, then mosey over with a 5-6 minute walk. read more

My favorite place to take my daughter for a walk! I wish there was something for little babies but the variety of play equipment for older kids makes up for it. Gosh this place is a gift. High quality play structures with soft rubber landings, a fun and safe zip line, covered patio areas with picnic tables both adult and kiddie sized, a splash pad for the ages that is fenced in for safety and escape artists under 3 feet tall. Huge vast green spaces for running, playing catch, kicking the ball, flying a kite and all those other fun things you do at the park. Nice running paths around the park which are also great for scooters. Parking can be challenging, but hey you're there for exercise anyway. Plan to spend some time there, bring a picnic lunch, your sunscreen and water. Happy playing! read more

One of my all time favorite parks to go to. It has something for everyone from young kids to old. Two different play areas for two different age groups. So when it gets hot, you can cool off in the water area. Want a challenge, test your skills on the multiple climbing areas. There are multiple areas for get togethers and having shade is a must in AZ. Love the small zip line and other areas of the park. I agree that this park is one of the best in the USA. read more

This parks is always clean, and well maintained. Whether you have small children or middle schoolers this park has something for them. The splash pad is big, always works and great during the summer. For once the city of mesa planners got it right. Mesa now has a place that can entertain everyone from children to seniors. Riverview park is next to the new Cubs stadium and is a well designed use of space. The children's park has all the latest equipment to entertain and provide exercise for children. For a city with triple digit temperatures and bus stops with nothing but a pole to shield from the heat I was surprised to see the park has tent structures covering parts of the equipment. Also a nice area with water spouts to keep us all cool during the summer. There is a nice lake in the park for lounging, picnicking, or fishing. For those who enjoy bike riding the area provides for bike paths for exercise or leisure riding. Mesa Riverview mall is across the street from the park and has plenty of places to eat and shop. As a citizen of Mesa I can honestly say that I am proud of how this project turned out. Perhaps the residents of Mesa can now stop giving our tax dollars to Tempe or San Tan and help keep our city well funded for years to come. Congratulations Mayor Scott Smith! read more

Nice park with a great boardwalk to stroll along. They have some pretty neat activities for all ages and even at night there were families out and people fishing - it seems pretty safe when dark. It's nice being able to take a break from the dessert scenery and walk along the water, especially if you're staying at the Sheraton here. read more

I give this park one star for the concept, another star for everything they have going on at the park such as the splash pad. They lose 3 stars for the following reasons: 1. Parking = not enough, poorly planned, organized, and executed. But I should have expected this coming from a facility located next to the cubs. (go white sox!) 2. Ghetto = too many unsupervised kids with parents too busy making out with their gangbanger boyfriends, gossiping about how their man cheated or their face glued to the cell phone. 3. The jungle gym climbing wall = horrible idea and lawsuit waiting to happen. read more

This is a fantastic park. The only downside is the lack of shade. While there is shaded areas, and it's great. I could see this park being empty in August. The playground equipment that is in the sun will be too hot to touch. The splash pad, however is AMAZING! I can't wait to take my kids to it. Once the sun goes down of course, because there isn't enough shade close to the splash pad itself, meaning I would have to stand in the sun in order to keep a good eye on my kids. read more

This is a great place to spend a Saturday morning, whether as a family or individual. A great park with lots of activities fun kids--a cool splash pad, a giant climbing rope tower, and the a slide castle. Even as an adult I enjoyed the "kid" stuff. The park looked like a lot of fun walking up to it but as I walked my dog thru the water fountain play area, a guy screamed at me for having my dog there-on a leash btw. It was 104° and my dog is extremely well behaved. We were not bothering anyone and there are no signs saying no dogs yet this man was persistent on speaking his mind. It says more about the type of people that attend this park than the park itself. True shame. read more

Kids love this park. Spray pads, covered playground, lake. It was pretty busy on the weekend and hard to find shade. Finally found a nice spot under a tree. People walk their dogs out here and go on their jogs. Few people fishing. It's a little but of a drive for us but we think it's worth it. We'll be back. :) read more

One star just for Mesa making this park better than it was. It was much needed. I think there could be some improvement tho. 1. Shade. There is very little. I know the trees are young and will bring more shade once they are older, but the benches have this little shade that is high up and is only like half the width of the bench...really? What's up with that??? Bad design. Get rid of them and get a real cover. And you would think that architects would know the pattern and paths of the sun in Arizona enough to design something that would provide more shade during the hottest part of the year. Get with it man geez. 2. The dog area needs some seating and some shade. Wth, the rest of the park has tables and benches. When you get to the dog area...none. I think it's so wide open that people mistake it for a soccer field. I'd hate to see see a soccer player step in what someone's dog left behind....Speaking of which, someone needs to fill the booboo bag holders. They're always, always empty. I bring my own, I just wish everyone did! 3. More drinking fountains and facilities. There is only one of each in this park. What about putting some on the OTHER end of the park? Srsly 4. More ramadas/gazebos whatever you want to call them. There are only 2 sets. One in the kid's area and one set for everyone else. 5. Once this park is completed, I foresee a lack of parking. Here are some pluses: 1. The fishing. I'm not a fisherman, but it's cool to see it. I hear they stock the water every 2 weeks. Every one needs good outlet huh? 2. The bungee tower thingy. That's cool. Let's just hope no one falls from the top! But, if they do, at least they'll fall slowly ha. One star for Mesa for creativity. It's rare for Mesa to think outside the box. 3. The location. It's cool to have a nice park on the west side. It's close to Tempe, Scottsdale. That is all. read more

This is my 3y/o daughter's favorite park to go to, hands down! Here's the breakdown: - Awesome climbing equipment (aside from that one gigantic contraption that is a friggin death trap just waiting to happen! Babygirl will NOT be on that anytime soon!) - TONS of grass to run and play - Really fun playground equipment! Honestly, everything you can imagine aside from swings...which sucks because my daughter LOOOOOOOVES the swings. - Splash pad for summertime fun (and it even has cold water!) - Cool paths for running/jogging, biking, talking walks...whatever. - TONS of shaded tables - Bathroom facilities (mostly clean) - Beautiful lakefront with ducks and fishing. - MY personal favorite...A STARBUCKS within walking distance over at the Wrigley West Sheraton Hotel! I take my daughter there every morning for some chocolate milk, a muffin and a walk around the lake to see the ducks! :-) BEAUTIFUL PARK! read more

This splash pad is great for a huge range of ages! Our 9 month old loves charging from spout to spout as the water comes and goes. Opens a little later than it should for the summer. Open 10AM-10PM. Tons of playground equipment around as well, but not much shade to keep it cool in the summer. All in all we still love this park. read more

Water park, young kids playground and teen/adult play area. walking, fishing and just enjoying the park. i was here both early morning (right before and during sunrise) and evening and never felt unsafe. Work crew were out in the early morning along with joggers and fishers. Well maintained and clean. read more
