The Veterans Oasis park has different walking trails, offers a lake for fishing, several benches for bird-watching, large covered ramadas, the Chandler Nature Center (Chandler Native Plant Oasis), and much more. Offers different signs to learn about wildlife and how to be safe. I came in early morning in mid-October and the weather was amazing. In the morning it was about 60 degrees. The park was active: people walking the trails, fishing, several people walking their dogs and there was a group of people with their dogs getting dog training classes. This is our favorite neighborhood park. We have seen it grow from a small park to a huge trail worthy, well kept oasis. Our favorite is going around the scenic loop around water, spotting the ducks, geese and the birds. There are so many exotic Birds specially during the spring, it's a sight. The wildflowers are beautiful and the large trees create a perfect canopy during the summer. We love biking and hiking too, this park has a cute little waterfall and is a favorite among photographers for shoots. There are programs offered in the community center for the kids for summer break and also activities with nature which is nice specially since it's involved with nature. There is also a nice display and tribute to the veterans with some installation arts. This place is worth a visit and wish there were some kids play structure to add to the beauty. read more

We love to go to this park! There are so many things to see along the paths. The gravel paths are very well-maintained and flat. It's nice to be surrounded by all the native trees and get to enjoy all the wildlife that that provides. There are multiple bathrooms and they are clean and well kept. There's an education center and the staff there is very helpful and informative During the winter months, they have concerts on the lawn the third Thursday of every month There are multiple different educational programs that they offer. Whether you're a bird lover, or just want to see the dragonflies and butterflies. Really something for everybody. There are multiple picnic pergola around and I've seen many people enjoying them for parties. Along the paths you'll find quite a few benches to just sit and enjoy The park is never super busy, but you're never alone. It's a lovely spot that you just don't believe you're in the middle of the city. read more

My family and I love to come here to have a mini-escape from the urban jungle. This park is just 3 miles from our house so it's easy to hop in the car an hour before sundown and come out here and relax. There's a large man-made lake with a cement walking path around it. You can fish here or just sit at one of the many benches and relax. As you venture past the lake, there's a lot of wider and narrower dirt trails that transverse this large park. There's some minor hills, just enough to get to a high point to watch the sunset. This park is also an amazing place for photography, jogging and your pets! If you love rabbits and quail, you will see dozens per visit. read more

When reviewing this park, I have to compare it to Riparian Preserve, and in comparison, this is the lesser of the two. Although these places are meant to be natural, that doesn't mean they shouldn't have some structure and a certain cleanliness appeal. Love this park! The sunsets are gorgeous and the early-morning sunrises are just as good. You can walk your dog and knock out a whole photo shoot in one trip LOL. I see so many families doing their photo sessions here--basically it's a park and a studio all in one. BEAUTIFUL Park! I cannot believe I've lived near this area and only now just checked it out. My friend and I took my dogs on a walk here (very dog friendly) to see what this little lake had to offer. The cement paved walk is .4mi around the lake, so we did it twice. Along the way there are benches to sit if you want to capture the scenery, take a breath or daydream. Their were a lot of people fishing and so many cute ducks swimming down the mini river. The chirping birds act as a great background noise! There is also a waterfall along the path that sounds beautiful (check out my videos). Also, there are dirt paths along the way you can take and venture out too. Overall, what a great experience! I am adding this to a must go for me and my dogs to explore when the weather is nice!! read more

Very cool park with lots to do and see. I like the nature center and learning of the wildlife and plants.

So this is like our very own Central Park, here in Chandler. I love coming here for a jog, walk and have done many of my family photoshoots here, it is just beautiful year round and nice to be able to breath some fresh air and watch some of the animals around. Today I saw ducks, rabbits, lizards, and an unexpected Coyote during my jog. This is the second time I get towards the very back and see a Coyote crossing. Thankfully it was ahead enough of me on the trail. I still enjoyed the thrill of seeing it. There are signs around about burrowing owls but I didn't see any. This place truly is a little oasis in Chandler. A mix of man made and a lot of natural beauty makes it for a lovely experience. I love the trails in nature. I love the views when you go above the hills alittle to see the Santan Mountain from afar. I love the plants, the path gives me a lovely opportunity for trail run or walk, and the water & features throughout are great. It is so nice to see how they used the space that was once just an empty lot to build a tribute to veterans which is absolutely gorgeous at night displaying the US flag in all of its beauty with stunning lights. I had previously reviewed this park in the context of safety. I would say it is pretty safe but I do recommend to be aware of your surroundings in any public park and don't leave valuables in the car since many years back mine was broken into while I was walking in the trail here at Veteran Oasis park. I didn't have any issues in the many other occasions I have been here but I have learned from that experience to be more aware about this topic. All in all, I had an enjoyable time here! Went for a walk with our puppy today at Veterans Oasis Park and I'm so glad we did! When we arrived there was a casting clinic teaching kids how to fish. We spoke to the AZ fish and game officials and were informed they had stocked the lake with 300 rainbow trouts last night for this event. All the kids looked like they were having a lot of fun. Me and my little buddy JAX walked around the lake and had a wonderful time. The park is clean and very peaceful. There are benches everywhere to sit and enjoy the desert wildlife and nature. I can't wait to go back with a fishing pole and a picnic basket. Definitely recommend. read more

Well maintained trails/walking paths and a great urban outdoor area! Lots of foot traffic and doggies on walks when I was there midday on a weekday. Saw bunnies, hummingbirds, and a squirrel! Only suggestion for improvement would be signs along the walking paths so first timers like me don't get lost! Thank goodness for real time location via Google maps! :-P read more

This park is located on the NE corner of Chandler Heights Rd and Lindsay Rd. I think you can enter from either street but we usually enter from Chandler Heights. There is plenty of parking. There are some good running trails where my daughter did some training over the summer for Cross Country. There are some ponds there as well but I do not know if you can go fishing or if it is worthwhile. There are bathrooms at the Chandler Nature Center which is at the same location as the park. I posted a photo of the hours. This is very helpful rather than having to leave to try find a bathroom. They also have some vending machines outside the bathrooms. The bathrooms are clean. Good place to get in a run without having to worry about finding a bathroom. read more

This is such a gem of a park. It's a small getaway from the hustle and bustle of life. We live very close and we go regularly to look at the animals in the building, or to walk around the multiple paths. It's very scenic and calming. Sometimes there's animals outside and the creek is beautiful (when it's running). Cleanliness and safety is a 10/10- I've never seen any littering and always feel safe. read more

This is a great park to go trail walking with or without your dog. It never feels crowded and is very well kept. The park is truly as oasis located in Chandler. You enter the park with the field of honor. This memorial features a historic plane with history plaques commemorating service sacrifices. It's worth a stop on the way in the park. The park itself boasts over 2.5 miles of trails that wave you around water preserves. The water is recycled through a large pump so it's pretty clean and supports various local wildlife. Fishing is also popular at this park. I would recommend this location for photos of the family and a nice picnic. It's well maintained and there is enough foot traffic to feel safe on a walk alone. read more

Quiet Nature Park With A Nice Pond, Ducks and Picnic Areas! This was our first trip to this particular park. Definitely a hidden gem we haven't explored the entire grounds yet but have found several nice picnic areas in the shade as well as lots of benches some in the shade under the trees to sit and watch and feed the ducks. This park is definitely much more quiet and relaxing than Freestone or the riparian preserve which we both really like as well but this one is quieter and more relaxing. Plentiful vegetation makes for a good home for wildlife. 6 to 10 foot tall reeds can be found along the banks of certain parts of the pond. Parking was not a problem on a Monday afternoon not sure if this place gets packed on the weekends or not since it was our first trip. All in all this is definitely a hidden gem. I love this please. There are several trails and loads of awesome birds here. Yesterday I caught site of 32 species I could identify. My first bird out of the car was a vermilion flycatcher (pretty red). There was a lovely northern harrier soaring. My highlight was the pair of ruby crowned warblers because their ruby crown was spiked and visibly awesome. I didn't catch any jack rabbits or coyotes but it was a very pleasant walk. The redwings were in winter plumage and no bright red epaulets. Flying high above were yellow heads, yay. I can't wait to return and beat my count. I love the educational building and neat gift shop too. read more

I have lived here in Chandler for 10 plus years now and this park has always been such a peaceful little get away for me! You will encounter tons of wildlife when walking or fishing around the lake, such as, hawks, cottontails, roadrunners and occasionally coyotes or eagles. Absolutely love this park. There are paved side walks for those who wish to follow those and also unpaved trails that are stunning. It feels like you're experiencing different climates as you walk through the park. Picnic tables to enjoy food if you wish and little spots on trails that you can lay blankets down to enjoy food or rest. Fun outdoor walk for littles. Plenty of shady places, wildlife, benches, and ramadas. Great nature center. Lake is beautiful! You are not supposed to feed the ducks here and there is not playground just so other parents don't head here with those things in mind. read more

I found this park very relaxing, it has a pond with lots of different types of ducks, a huge jack rabbit I caught a glimpse of, some people are fishing, some are just taking a walk around , lots of people walking their pups, or just enjoying the nature and watching the lake and surrounding area.
