Every time we are in Ozark, we make it a point to come to Rivertowne BBQ at least once (but usually multiple times). They've got a simple menu that is delicious. I generally stick with the chopped brisket or the pulled pork with delicious sides like cole slaw and fried green tomatoes. These guys know their BBQ and the meat is smoked to perfection. It's a moderate price point and easy for families. They've got a few different sauces that appease everyone, I really like the meat comes out without sauce so you can dress it up however you want. When in Ozark definitely stop by! read more

Great BBQ - the chicken salad is BANGIN...super consistent and great big portions. Totally recommend.

coworker told me about this place after one of his motorcycle rides said it was the best barbecue he had ever eaten. So me and the wife didn't have much to do we decided to roll over to Fort Smith and do some shopping when I remember this barbecue place was only about 40 more miles down the road. To make a long sTory shorT 140 miles is worTh every mile driven. We shared a combo platter that had three ribs pulled pork and sliced brisket with sides of baked beans and corn on the cob. I'm the type of person when I try a new barbecue place I have to try it without the sauce first because anybody can make a good with BBQ sauce on it was great either way. The sauce has a smoky taste to it but it is very good. Service was great our waitress was spot on with everything. Its a long ways for us but we will definitely be back. read more

Saw the big sign on I-40 so looked it up on Yelp. My husband and I shared the combo plate and for two big eaters it was plenty. It came with sliced brisket, pulled pork, and two large meaty ribs. We picked fries and onion rings as our sides, both were hot and tasty even though they were of the frozen variety. Three choices of sauce mild, ( sweet and thick) hot ( sweet thick with a kick at the back of your throats and then a really thin vinegar sauce that may have been their basting sauce which even for a vinegar hater like me, found to be very good. All the meats were tender and juicy but were a little light in the smoke flavor therefore a four star instead of five. Definitely recommend and will visit again. The decor was rustic vintage and I loved it. All staff were very friendly. A great find in a small town off the interstate. read more

Stopped on the way from Fayetteville to LR. Everything was great - pulled pork, beans, potato salad, and service. This place is a real jewel read more

First time in the south and this was the first BBQ place I ate at. Great atmosphere, friendly and hard working staff. The food was awesome. We had fried pickles which are delicious and I had the pulled pork with sweet potato fries and potato salad. I loved the vinegar bbq sauce as well as the regular and spicey ones. Great place to eat and have a good time. read more

This place never disappoints. Never. Whether you get chicken, pork or beef its always so incredibly moist and a really good value. Their bbq sauce though is what takes the cake. If you are traveling through its maybe 7 minutes from the interstate and well worth travelling past the taco bell and mcdonalds at the exit to get some real food that comes out quick. We were in a hurry today but didn't mention it and were literally in and out in 15 minutes. Haven't tried it but on our way out saw a girl order a baked potato that was as big as Rhode Island that was smothered with bbq. Ill be back to try that soon. read more

I am a retired 50 % disabled veteran. While on vacation, my family stopped in to have a nice family meal. After the meal I asked the owner if he offered a military discount, he laughed in my face then in a sarcastic tone said "Yeah, last week" then turned his back and walked off... Pretty sure had he said just no, I wouldn't have given it a second thought. If he treats veterans this way, I wonder what he says to Senior Citizens when they ask for Senior Discounts! read more

Best pork plate i've had in awhile. The portions are big so come hungry! The owner & staff were very friendly and did a great job. I would definitely come back. read more

Overall is it just as the rating says.. "A-OK". 4 adults and a child. Everyone was mostly pleased and there are no complaints about the portions or the service (we had a very sweet and competent waitress). Prices were fair and reasonable to us. The mac & cheese was a hit, the corn on the cob was a BIG hit, fried okra, beans.. all acceptable or better. I really liked the potato salad, but that a personal thing, so the table was split. It has sour cream in it for sure, and I liked that dill, mustard, sour cream flavor - skin on tators.. good. Pulled pork was good, the ribs were given high grades. But I have to say, my brisket was tough and dry. Tough. And. Dry. At the end of the day, you aren't going to be a great BBQ place with that brisket. Not happy. The BBQ sauces were mild and hot and the hot has a bite, but there were very good mixed. The green beans were loved by all and the house salad - though over-cheesed - was fresh and good. Extra points for a delicious blue cheese dressing. All in all, I am not a BBQ fan and this place was somewhere I would certainly go again. Solid. read more

Once was BEST BBQ in Arkansas now the WORST. This business Sold 3 years ago since changed ownership food has really turned BAD! Meat taste like it's cooked once a week then warmed UP before served. Since new ownership has taken over changed hours, menu but most important BBQ is getting worst every day! Anyone telling you this good BBQ don't know JACK about BBQ! New ownership has run this business into the ground!! read more

Awesome! Co worker and I stopped by while on a business trip through AR. Great food, great atmosphere! Try the fried pickles and tomatoes - good stuff. read more

I had the best prime rib steak of my life !! Highly recommended, also considering the fact that there are not many ( read "no") restuarants in Ozark town square. read more

A lot of people wouldn't expect to find a world class barbecue restaurant in the little town of Ozark. Those people are going to be surprised! I recently enjoyed the pulled pork, which was excellent. I'm also very picky about cole slaw. Their's is creamy and made just right. Service was superb. Highly recommended! read more

Words cannot describe the quality of tonights visit. Everything was on point flavor, freshness, quantity, price, friendly staff with excellent service. Must stop by for the down home experience... read more

Stopped in based on Yelp reviews, was not disappointed. The spinach salad was excellent as was the bean slop( sounds bad, But is really delicious.) Very clean and the wait staff were prompt and courteous. read more

i love it they r worth an oncor every single and even more often every time ive ever aye theyr

I went there a week ago with no expectations. Was pleasantly surprised to find out that their barbecue is really good. My wife and I both had the combination plate and all the meat was cooked to perfection in and it was a nice pink color. The meat was delicious and tender, fall off the bone good. I do think that they need to work a little bit on their sauces. I have had a lot of different sauces, and this one has a bit to much vinegar. A good sauce will be dark sweet and really smoky. read more

Do not let the outside deceive you! This restaurant is clean & the food is amazing! It's worth driving 2 miles into town. Thankful for all the Yelp reviews! read more

For lunch we split the sampler and a house salad...very very good and we still took a lot away with us. Generous and tasty portions. Wish we lived Closer. Loved having all the sauces to chose from. A great lunch stop on our way to Fort Smith. read more

Was worth the hour drive to try this BBQ restaurant. Had the combo plate so I could sample all the meats. The ribs and brisket were outstanding. Coleslaw had been made in a blender (a no no IMO) but it had a good flavor as did the potato salad. Will definitely go back. read more

This Southern gem is only 2 mi off of the freeway, but it is a must stop if you're really hungry. And when I say really hungry, that means the portions are made for giant people. The pulled pork is outstanding, the ribs are to-die-for, and if you order the pork loaded potato, be certain that you share it with someone else. And the service is most like everywhere else the South, outstanding, friendly, quick. Make sure if you're coming across on 40 west or 40 East and going through Ozark Arkansas, that you stop at this restaurant. You will not regret the few minutes it takes you to get there from the freeway. read more

Wow. I mean wow. We were on our way home from doing the wine tour in Altus and found this joint on yelp. Wow. I ordered the pork nachos and boyfriend ordered the pork potato. I don't think my eyes have ever bugged as they did when the waitress brought us our food. For $17 we ate an amazing meal and have enough for dinner. If you're ever in Ozark this is a must stop. read more

Fantastic food! In fact, we stopped here twice this week for lunch. Service is also a 10. It not often the you stop at a restaurant for the first time and then return a few days only to have the waitress remember us and our orders! read more

This place had some of the best barbecue I have ever tried! Not to mention the staff were very nice and I loved the down home feel of the restaurant! The pulled pork sandwich is to die for, but anything on the menu is amazing and full of flavor! Definitely a great place to eat when you're in town! read more

Rivertowne BBQ - Two cheers for great food and family time! - Barbeque Near Me - Ozark, Arkansas

Best BBQ I have had in a while. I ordered the jumbo pulled pork sandwich (which looked no bigger than a regular except the size of the bun) and it tasted tremendous! I chose the baked beans as a side and I must say, they were the best baked beans I think I've ever had from a BBQ restaurant. I ordered the hot wings as an appetizer and they were really good, except they were not spicy at all and only came with 6 wings. Should have included 8 for the price. Overall, 5 stars! read more

The waitress got my order wrong two times. Food was not fresh, the meat was very dry. Inside is cold and uncomfortable.

Loved the pulled chicken and pulled pork! Sauce is awesome! The sandwich was perfect with Cole slaw in it too. Loved the atmosphere and friendly service. You can tell the locals love it! read more

Small off the interstate place with THE best BBQ ribs I've ever had short of Joe's Kansas City. The beans had a slight vinegar taste (which I love!) and the corn was to die for. Our waitress was helpful and her recommendations were spot on. Go here your next trip out I-40. read more

We eat here any chance we can, it is worth the hour drive for us!! Just off the downtown square and close to the river. Comfortable, clean country atmosphere. Always a pleasant experience. Staff is friendly, food is always good. Prepare to take some home, big portions. Definitely try their fried green tomatoes or pickle spears!! read more

I have been to this place twice with my wife and daughter . We have tried the pork nachos the pork tenderloin dinner the brisket dinner and the possum dumplings and let me tell you I have not found any thing on the menu that was not great . I live in Sallisaw OK and have drove down there twice and I will stop in every time I get a chance love love this BBQ read more

I've heard that it's now under new ownership. The food was the same as always....excellent! I've read some other reviews about the portions being smaller, but I didn't notice any change. We were here for lunch and everyone left completely satisfied. It did take longer than normal to get our food, but I've never had bad service here so I can't take a star off for just this one time. FYI- kids chicken tenders are huge, so although the menu says it comes with 1, that will be plenty for most kids. The loaded spuds are huge, pulled pork sandwich is massive and the salads are substantial size too. This place just has great BBQ! read more

So I had to create a yelp account just so I could brag on just how amazing this BBQ was. I'm originally from Alabama, so BBQ is something that I'm extremely picky about. I had the pulled chicken and tried the pulled pork, and both were equally as delicious. Everyone who is ever in this area must go! read more

Rivertowne salads and homemade ranch was ALWAYS something I looked forward to eating.. Now that the restaurant is under new ownership the salads have definitely changed in a very negative way.. They are not as fresh or presentable and are very pricy.. We thought maybe it was just a one time bad night kind of thing but we have tried it several times now with the same poor result.. read more

I ate lunch and ordered the sliced brisket sandwich. I requested my brisket to be sliced thin and it came THICK.. both pieces. The meat did have good flavor (both bites). I also ordered hot links... Not hot at all. Ho hum. They did come out burnt beyond all recognition. No garnish just plate and sandwiche. Not the same Rivertown that Kevin once had. Save your $. I plan to. read more

A "15 minute wait" turned into more than 45. And then a group of 15 came in at least 30 minutes after us are seated before us, which is a group of 6. When I ask the reason, I'm told that the 15 were set in an area for a small group. We were seated 10 minutes later. The "small room" was not only for 15 but had several tables. After yet another group is seated in front of us, we are finally placed at a table. Terrible service. Will think twice before going back. read more

arguably the best bbq in Arkansas! Always leave full, and usually with leftovers! Love the remodeling (now indoor waiting area)

We have been eating there for 10+ years. This has ALWAYS been one of our favorite places to eat but since it has changed ownership we were VERY disappointed in our last 2 visits. Waitresses were friendly as always, but the appetizer meatballs known as possum dumplings (we ordered these nearly every visit) were horrible and could not finish them! The taste of all the meats we have tried since the change in ownership has COMPLETELY CHANGED as if completely different recipe and/or different wood in the smoker. We also LOVED the quality taste of the french fries and now they are worse than fast food!! Now a moment of silence for the death of Arkansas greatest BBQ................ We will sadly never go back!! :( read more
