For our twelfth 'cue stop in Arkansas, and the 379th on a 35 state BBQ odyssey, we dropped in here for a very late lunch, and we're glad we did. $46.77 plus tip bought a terrific appetizer serving of fried green tomatoes, which went well with ranch dressing. A regular rib dinner (St. Louis style) featured large, meaty well smoked ribs, which worked well with the two house sauces, especially the saucy one. The cheesy grits proved excellent, and the fried okra was ... fried okra. We also complemented a half sized order of nachos topped with smoked chicken (also moist and well smoked) with a very spicy order of links. They bring the heat! In sum, this restaurant is two miles into town from the interstate, and well worth the detour.
Visiting family in Arkansas and they took us to this restaurant. Very charmingly rustic. The staff was AMAZING, especially our waitress. She was so sweet and very interactive with the entire table. The food was soooo good! These people have nailed BBQ. Portions were massive...we have enough food for 2 days! Definitely try this if you're in the area!
So first off ai apologize for not taking any pictures. I was starving and the food was wonderful.I had a loaded baked potato that was huge. Hubby had the jumbo chopped brisket sandwich and fried okra and onion rings. Of course I got to sample a bite of everything. The service was great and so was the food. While in OzarK check it
What an amazing serendipitous find! Great food and amazing price. The $9.95 3 rib lunch plate was bigger than most half rack dinners I have seen. The bbq stood on its own with no sauce needed and the server was amazing! Try this place
Everything was amazing at Rivertowne BBQ, from the service to our delicious ribs! We ordered ribs with 4 sides and also tried the fries with cheese and bacon. The ribs were so tender, perfectly made. This spot is a must try for everyone!
If you find yourself slogging along I40, pondering just how soul crushing your upcoming meal at a truck stop McDonalds or Subway is going to be, the 2 mile trek off the interstate to Rivertowne is well worth your while. Ozark is a quaint little town, and Rivertowne BBQ is nestled within its charming small-town downtown. The BBQ is tasty and the people are friendly. Don't eat at the truck stop. You've been driving for hours. You deserve better. It's time you started taking care of yourself. Eat at Rivertowne.
We stopped in while driving between OK City and Memphis. We got there just before 2:00 so there was no wait. We were seated at a booth and our server, Twanna, came right over. She was very nice and brought our teas back and took our order. We chose to split the Jumbo Brisket Sandwich and added a side of sweet potato fries. The tea was fresh brewed and good. The brisket didn't have any fat in it. It was tender and delicious! The fries were like a dessert. The place is really rustic and cute! There's old time memorabilia on the walls. read more
Convenient location with street parking. Great service, in a nice dining area. Very good briscuit - but the RIBS were the star of our meal! Fried Okra was pretty good, while the Pulled Pork was bland. The Potato Salad was very odd; featuring a sweet vinegar taste that neither of us cared for. We didn't have room for dessert on this stop, but the desserts looked tasty! read more
What a great find on our road trip. Friendly staff. Plenty of seating. Clean bathrooms. The ribs were tasty. I like their bbq sauce. Mild or hot. The fried green tomatoes had a good breading on them. The bbq beans were thick and rich. The seasoned fries were good too. read more

As BBQ goes, this is a great stop, especially if you find yourself traveling on I-40. We usually stop once a year. The owner is gregarious and was thrilled to chat us up about Tulsa and the BOK center where he travels often for concerts. The decor is typical BBQ (tin siding, checkered table cloths, brown rolls of paper towels on the table). The food is pretty darn tasty and it can get crowded. The last time we visited (late on a weekend afternoon), we had to wait. Parking is pretty easy in this quaint downtown square. read more

First time going, it was a great experience. We were seated quickly around nice decor. It felt very homey. When the food was brought, it was warm and fresh. The taste and texture was great. I got a baked potato for my meal. The table shared some chips and dip, which were also great. I left stuffed and satisfied. I'm sure if I had room for dessert, it would have been delicious as well. read more

Good food, good price, nice atmosphere. We stopped here on the way through town and really enjoyed the lunch. The portions are HUGE! I ordered the potato with brisket and actually got 2 potatoes covered in brisket and cheese, so for the price it was a great deal. The meat was all tender and tasty. We would probably come back next time we are driving through. read more

Wow! We were on the last few days of our cross country road trip, headed back to D.C. We knew that we were in the south and that barbecue is good here but it wasn't until we discovered Rivertowne Barbecue that we were shocked at just how good it gets. We came on Saturday July 18 and saw the signs right off the interstate 40 so we followed the directions. We came to the town square of Ozark and there it was, down another block on the right side. Excited, I came inside and there was already the enticing smokey smell of tasty barbecue. The place was very clean and neatly organized and in my waiting time there was a lot of decorative old fashioned neat stuff inside to look at. Naturally, I ordered 2 large pulled pork sandwiches. They were large, delicious, and very reasonably priced. My dad had requested by phone the half rack of ribs with 2 sides, sweet potato fries and baked beans. Just the food in the to-go boxes and bags filled the van up with an enticing mouth-watering food smell, it was difficult for me to drive back before eating the food. My niece who was there with me only eats fish and vegetarian stuff so I had to look for something for her. I was overjoyed to look at the menu and see that they have a smoked salmon salad! Smoked salmon just happens to be Julia's favorite food, I couldn't believe it! The salmon salad was indeed a hefty serving, with spinach and lettuce and other scrumptious toppings that made it amazing. As if that were not enough, the salad came with a buttermilk pesto dressing. I've never had this before and it was the first time I ever heard of it, probably a local thing, but it was incredibly tasty. It all just seemed like we were having an awesome dream, the food was better than perfect and it made us so incredibly happy. What an atmosphere the place has, they play really catchy tunes inside, everybody keeps a bright friendly smile and they're eager to accommodate us, offering us water while we waited, making sure we had everything, double checking on the specifics of our order and catering to our picky special requests and custom adjustments (I'm sorry to say but we Cityfolk can be really demanding and difficult at times). We took the food back to the rest of the family. We were camping out at Mulberry River campground, almost an hour away. Even as far away as we were, we still went back to Rivertowne 3 more times in the next 2 days that we were there. We talked about how good the food was for the rest of the trip home and we already missed it as soon as we left Ozark. The only thing that I regret was that these friendly employees don't have a tip jar at the register which I certainly wouldn't mind adding to. They deserve it. We'll certainly be back........ read more
Great atmosphere, friendly people, good spot for kids & families. The staff is always friendly. Some people who don't leave nearby plan their drive around a lunch or dinner to eat at Rivertowne. Now for the food. The only thing I've ever ordered is the RIBS and it's probably all I'll ever order. I'm set in my ways when I find good bbq, especially ribs. Growing up in the South, this is serious business. Last time I was here, I brought a friend who had never eaten here. We ordered the ribs for 2 which came with 4 sides. So much food! We could have ordered 1 dinner & split it. The pics show how much food & how many ribs they bring. The ribs are meaty, fall off the bone, with a good smoke ring you can taste & see. The sides all are great. Cool place. Oh, try the RIBS. read more

The exit @ Ozark doesn't look like much, but if you'll just drive about 2 miles there's a cute little town square and this BBQ yumminess! The restaurant is cozy & homey with red & white checked tablecloths, the servers friendly & the BBQ is tasty! Portions were generous & prices reasonable, plus there is plenty of street parking and a parking lot across the street. I had the lunch special of ribs & beans and it really hit the spot! read more

Absolutely a MUST STOP!!!! The food was AMAZING! Easy highway access and RV parking spots were easily found in the "downtown" area. The brisket was juicy and Smokey in flavor, same with the pulled pork. I didn't even need their BBQ sauce, but I tried it anyway and it was great! read more

Small town gem! Found this place due to a billboard off of I-40 and I'm glad I did. It's in the small town of Ozark right next to the Arkansas River. The interior looks like your typical BBQ joint. The service was good and the food was above average. If you're in the area I would highly recommend jumping off I-40 and heading to grab a bite to eat there. read more

Nice stop for BBQ, enjoyed their luncheon special of large pull po sandwich with a side of fries. Also got the Rib kids meal with fries and an extra side of baked beans. Sauces was excellent and the meal was enjoyed by all. Quick service and glass never got below 1/2 before waitresses refilled. read more
