My apologies I thought I reviewed this establishment already!…read moreWe were here on March 21st before 6 PM so no trouble getting a table. The place is huge, with a huge bar. I think it is probably more of a bar type of restaurant and vibe. That's definitely the feel of the place. Service was friendly and very good. We shared a rainbow roll, it was just average. I had a cheesesteak it was large, and I ate the rest of it the next day. The flavor was just a little on the mediocre side. My wife had sliders and she said they were good. The french fries were very good. I will definitely go back and try other things on the menu. I recommend this place for people that like to drink, it look like there could be a lot of fun in that bar area. I would imagine in the summer this place is really busy.

Well after 3 years, food got worse or at least what we ordered…read more. When we ordered a flat bread off the menu and asked for a different cheese seemed like no problem but was told "We can't because it's already on there" right there you know the whole menu has to be premade as a flat bread would be the easiest for toppings to be changed.. Sadly to say we ordered the chicken tacos YES I KNOW BETTER... probably scooped with an ice cream scooper...Totally processed even the guacamole needless to say one bite and done.. One plus the bartenders were super attentive and nice.. Would go back for a drink... Mostly a large bar and high tops...laid back nice local crowd.

I was pleasantly surprised at just how awesome Battle River Brewing is. It is located right in…read moredowntown Toms River, a block from the namesake river and the site of an American Revolutionary War attack on a blockhouse by the British army in 1782. There is plenty of street parking, as well as a nearby lot with four hour parking. My girlfriend and I visited on a Friday evening in August. They have lots of seating both inside and out. I was very impressed by the selection of beers on offer: a whopping 26 beers and one hard seltzer, all despite the small size of the brewery. The variety was impressive as well. I've been to a lot of NJ breweries, and I saw a lot of beer styles here that I rarely, if ever, see at other places. This included a Japanese rice lager, an ESB, a white stout on nitro, a black lager, and a red wine ale. The real standouts for me were the Bluecoat (blueberry blonde), the Bayonet (honey stout on nitro), and the Red Headed Vixen (aforementioned red wine ale). My girlfriend and I each had a flight and a full pour, and we loved everything we tried. We live over an hour away, so we can't be regulars, but definitely hope to come back someday soon.

We approached the tap guy outside and asked him how seating and service worked told us to sit any where. Then that was it. We sat in a corner awkwardly for 10 mins just exchanging glances till we left. Don't know if we had a server or we were supposed to go and order our drinks and bring them to the table. The menu looked cool but didn't understand if it was to be brought to us or if we called the number on the menu and ordered. There was at least one server we saw.

After months of seeing people complain about the high prices (pssst- you are not their target…read moreaudience), I finally gave it a try. If you are looking for very high quality food from a restaurant that does not skimp on details, you will not be disappointed. Everything was SO delicious and so much attention and care was put into everything. Everything, and I made everything, is made in-house. The bread and crackers were excellent. The prime beef tartar was tasty, but the flavors were slightly strong on some pieces. We nearly ordered two of the Blue Fin Tuna Tartar because it was so incredibly fresh (the fish was purchased at the market that morning). The Moroccon Cigar with filo and lamb was fried to perfection. The filet mignon was PERFECTLY cooked (drool). But my absolute favorite was the plum and apple galette- oh my gosh. If you like fruity desserts, this was to die for. I would go back just for this. But the details are what made dinner a truly special experience. The menu covers are made from a high quality leather. The steak knives are engraved. Everyone was seated in different areas of the restaurant for added privacy. As I mentioned, EVERYTHING is homemade. When we left, we received two homemade cookies. Aside from the server making a couple of comments that made me feel like I was a woman living in 1945, service was exceptional and the diversity of the staff was wonderful! We ordered one drink, two appetizers, two entrees and a dessert and spent around $200 with tip. Overall, a fantastic experience. I will be back soon.
