After obtaining a few quotes to remodel our backyard we settled on hiring Rivers Landscape Construction. My experience of this is as follows. We had great communication with the initial designer we spoke with when we first worked out our quote and scope of work. After signing the contract and moving forward we never saw her again. We had poor communication with the site crew working on our yard. The pavers do not line up with pool-coping as they didnt want to excavate properly to level the ground. They unapologetically killed my precious flowers, during construction that I wanted to keep as well as banged up the siding of our newly painted house and cut of palm leaves to make it more comfortable for them to work. When I mentioned this, they said that it happens and they would fix it. The entire process could have been done cleaner with more courtesy. Three weeks ago we discovered that one of the drains they installed was put together with duct tape. Really? After we called to complain they said that was industry standard to put metal pipes together with duct tape. We explained to them that this was PVC pipe and how displeased we were to discover it and asked them to fix it. They came out to look at it and left, t has been almost three weeks now without any fix. There has been no call and we still have a broken drain with duct tape. If you hire this company please expect terrible communication such as little to no status updates, a very messy and destructive demo as well as little to no follow up on their so called warranty. The overall impression has been that there was absolutely no respect for our property. read more

I found Rivers Landscape and Construction on Yelp. They were also referred to me by my pool contractor Majestic Pools. I was putting in a pool last year and after deciding on the pool design, it was time to focus on the landscaping aspect. I met with about 4 landscape companies. Some of which came out and never called back. I met with Gabriel from Rivers and told him what I wanted. He suggested we look at some of his other completed jobs. We looked at a few homes where I actually met the homeowners and they told me how happy they were. Their yards looked great too. My job was going to be big with a lot of detail. I had to be sure I picked the right company and more importantly the right person to deal with. I was very comfortable with Gabriel Rios and knew he would do a great job. I knew they were family owned and I liked that. I had the opportunity along the way to work with Gabriel, Tony, Gus, David and other family members. Each has their own specialty and brings a lot of experience to every part of the job. Every one of these guys treated me with respect and continuous caring that I was happy as things progressed. Each worker that came to my house was talented, friendly and very willing to satisfy any requests. To give you an idea of what they did, here is a description. As mentioned I was building a pool. Here is the scope of what was built. They of course removed the old landscape and graded. Then the fun began. They made an incredible 20' L shape BBQ kitchen with 42" Twin Eagles BBQ, smoker, side burner, sink hot & cold, storage cabinets and fridge. The island was covered in Nevada Quartz ledger stone, each being hand cut and placed. The top was Sienna concrete and added a beautiful pergola with lights. I challenged them to make the round seating area to be supported by a giant quartz vertical boulder. They pulled it off and it is like no other. They also built a fire pit to match with a travertine tile top and blue glass. As the construction was going on, I kept adding things like an additional pergola over the back patio, waterproofing the deck off the master with tile and lower lighting, adding a spiral wrought iron stairway to the upper deck. Then I came to Gabriel and said that I want to add an outside bathroom with an indoor and outdoor shower. This was to keep wet people from walking through the house. He gave me a quote and I said go. They pulled all of the permits and all inspections were good. The bath looks like it was part of the house originally. It is perfect! It's actually better than the ones inside. It has a glass shower, sink, toilet, travertine floors and walls. It is beautiful! The outdoor shower has a bench and pebble tiles. These guys can do it all! I had a blank side yard and decided to finish up the job with a putting green. Gabriel said no problem and made it happen. It was a great addition and is getting a lot of use. Other features Rivers did would include planting nearly 300 plants and adding a drip system to each on a timer, stepping stone path and a vertical herb garden. They also built new fences and installed retaining walls and gates. Like I said, these guys can do anything. More importantly they want the client to be happy and are extremely quality conscious and detail oriented. As the job was going on my front yard was becoming a mess with pallets of pavers, construction equipment and digging up for the new sewer line. Gabriel said don't worry; we'll take care of it. I left for work one day and came home to a new front yard with sod, plants and sprinklers. They really showed me how much they cared. My yard is complete and it looks fantastic! It looks like it should be in a magazine. My neighbors cannot believe how great it all looks too. The job is done and that should be it. No, Gabriel, Gus and Tony have all come or called by multiple a time to make sure everything is ok and that I'm happy. You can't ask for more than that. I would highly recommend Rivers for any landscape or construction jobs. Give them a call. You will be happy you did. I'm looking forward to my next project with them. read more

They came out for a consultation, didn't ask many questions, and never followed up with a design and estimate as promised. I had a bad feeling from the beginning...when he was over 30 minutes late, I called to make sure he was ok, and still planning to come by. He apologized and said he was still finishing up nearby and forgot to call me. He then asked for my address and directions, again, even though I had taken the time to give them to him on our initial call. We hired Rivers landscaping to design and build our backyard. We had let it go when the water was restricted and had dead grass and unsightly overgrown bushes . We had a very specific time frame as we were having company and a large party. Gabriel listened to what we wanted and gave us 3D pictures of what he designed. I was very impressed and loved the way he worked with us to get the design exactly how I wanted it to look. He quoted a price and we agreed on it. We are very happy with the way it turned out. It was exactly on budget and in the exact time framed he promised. The men who worked on the yard for the month were so nice and kept everything clean. They even swept my pool before they left every day. They also painted a wall and bbq stand. They powerwashed and polished the concrete so when they were finished it looked like a magazine photo. Update 11/20/17 Backyard landscaping has been complete for a while now. Wow, these guys are fast, professional and do good work. They finished ahead of schedule and accommodated us with pretty much everything we wanted. The backyard turned out exactly as we wanted with the exception of what HOA wouldn't allow us to do. The initial sod put down also didn't take well so they replaced it with new ones and now it's doing really well. They took the time to check with us as they went along and we are very happy with the end product. We would recommend them to anyone!! Thanks Rivers Landscape! Previous update: After my initial post, Gabriel contacted me and explained/apologized for the situation. He was prompt to meet with me and provided me with the things I needed very quickly. Orlando, the foreman assigned to our job was the best contractor I have ever worked with. I have worked with a lot of contractors and Orlando is hands down the best and easiest to work with. This review is way overdue. We started working with Richard/Gus and the team back in March, for the landscaping of our newly-purchased home. We absolutely love Richard as he was such a great help and made this process really painless for us. From the start to finish he was there with us, going back and forth for the design changes we had in mind, taking us to the nursery to get us nice plants that we had in mind - we still receive compliments from our neighbors about our palm tree every now and then, and coming frequently to check for potential issues. Towards the end of the project we did a couple walk through, to get things fixed to the very fine details. And GUs and the team were working really hard to get the job done - I understand this is pretty tough during the COVID time, but all of them were very professional and accommodating, and always wore masks as needed. They were also very friendly and offered to help us moving big furniture pieces into the garage - we once got a shipment with 500 lbs of office set and it was impossible for my wife and I to get them all in. And they also helped to haul away some big pile of boxes/pallet which were hard for us to dispose. We would definitely go back to them the next time we need landscaping job, and would highly recommend Rivers to anyone! read more

Rivers Landscape Construction is amazing and it's definitely one of the best construction experiences I've ever had. From the beginning, my wife and I met with Richard and he was fantastic to work with as we discussed plans to remodel our entire front and back yard. We never felt any sales pressure or that he was concerned "just about the sale"; as a matter of fact it was quite the opposite. This was a large project and he was always focused on making sure we were happy with what we were creating. In addition to this project, we also put in a pool using another company and Rivers worked seamlessly with the pool company. The project consisted of everything from demo, new driveway, irrigation, drainage, bbq island with refrigerator and sink, fire pit, turf, backyard concrete, landscaping, sod and more. Throughout the process he always had such a positive attitude, was helpful, and available for any questions or to work through items that come up during the project. As we moved to construction phase we worked with the foreman, Orlando. I can't say enough about him as he was also amazing to work with. Everything from helping select concrete colors to placement of various things, Orlando was a tremendous help. He and the entire crew that was on our job does things right and doesn't cut any corners. My wife and had near flawless experience with Rivers and all of their amazing and stand up people that helped transform our front and backyard. We started the process of getting estimates for our backyard pool/landscaping project in April 2019. Gabriel from Rivers was one of the first landscape contractors we met and we immediately liked him and loved his complimentary 3D design of our pool and landscaping. We proceeded to get several other estimates and though some were slightly less expensive, we kept going back to Gabriel's design and detailed estimate. Fast forward to late July, we decided to go with Gabriel and also hired Black Rock Pools for the pool construction. They were a great team and we love our back yard now! We needed everything for our backyard, demolition, retaining walls, 2,800 square feet of pavers, 2 fire pits, irrigation, drainage, tree removals, plants, sod, trees, fences and lighting. Rivers is everything a family business should be - great to work with, responsive, always striving to make their clients happy and willing to do whatever it takes to get a project done right. We hired Rivers to do landscaping and hardscaping on a newly built home, concurrent with the construction of a swimming pool. My wife was the project designer and kept a close eye on quality control throughout the project. Even when construction do-overs were necessary, things never became adversarial. Our requests were always treated with respect and a spirit of cooperation. Not only were Gabriel and the crew willing to tackle out-of-the-ordinary design requests, they also made our lives much easier by solving some of the issues we had with the pool contractor. For example, whenever the pool contractor argued with us regarding whether a portion of the project was his or Rivers' responsibility, Gabriel would quickly settle the issue by simply getting the work done. We are very happy with our landscaping, and have received very nice comments on it from friends and neighbors. The most impressive demonstrations of Rivers' customer service ethic occurred long after the project was completed. Even now, more than two years after the landscape installation, Gabriel and his brothers are eager to help us with any of the minor issues that might crop up - replacing a burned out landscape light bulb, mending a frayed wire, etc., etc. It makes us feel as though they stand behind their work 100%, and with no expiration date. I waited a while to post my review. Rivers did the backyard and front yard landscape when we installed our pool. They partner with Majestic Pools. Although we had an amazing experience with Majestic Pools, it was not as smooth sailing with Rivers. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: 1) Reasonable prices 2) The backyard looks beautiful. They did everything just how I had pictured. 3) Their team is polite. 4) Gus, Tony, and Gabriel are nice guys (these are the people I worked with). 5) They have fixed everything I have needed fixed so far. Cons: 1) Lack of communication. I was warned about this from a friend that had used them before me. She also likes them, but prepared me. Text messages go unanswered often. 2) Lack of organization. Things take a lot longer than they say and you have to bug them constantly! This was consistent throughout the entire process! It was frustrating. So, if you have a lot of patience and time, but money is an issue, these people would be great. If you want the job done and don't mind paying extra, you might want to reconsider. read more

Rivers did a complete rebuild of our driveway and entry in pavers. Gabriel suggested mixing the colors of the antique mega Bergerac pavers we selected. We had a complicated design with a steep driveway and dramatic hour glass staircase. In addition, they built a masonry wall with an arch. Gabriel's design for our front yard was exactly what we wanted and his amazing crew was very diligent about making it happen. They worked very hard and were very neat and considerate. Any inconvenience to us was quickly taken care of. We liked our front yard so much that we asked Gabriel to design our entire back yard. We absolutely love the finished product. we are very glad to have Rivers done our front yard. Before hiring them, we spent more than 1 month calling around other campanies. It turned out some companies asked us what our budge is, how the hell i know how much, im not in this business. Some companies didnt answered/return our calls. Some showed up doing the measurement than disappeared, completely ignored our calls/text thereafter. Thats very frustrated. Finally we found Rivers. Richard showed up on time, listened to our ideas and few days later he came with a blueprint. He even showed us the 3D image of our future yard, that exactly matches our expectation. During the whole month of construction, Rivers worked 6 days a week, thats really amazing. Also we modified our plan during the period, and Richard and Guts are always happy to cooperate with us.
