Pretty bad bagels by NY standards. They were too crispy/hard on the outside.

To be honest I think bagel corner is a little better. It's just a little faster. Both good bagels tho.

I like that I don't have to go all the way downtown to get a hot pastrami sandwich from that other spot with all the tourists. This place gives more of an old fashioned diner vibe and the service is really good. They make the best Masa ball soup I ever had and I've had plenty. I say if you haven't been it's definitely worth a visit. Thumbs up and Happy Yelping!

In the Bronx, what was once a bastion of Jewish delicasies, there are few if almost none left. Save for Liebman's, who is still carrying the banner and flying it high for delicious, high quality, old school, Jewish deli food. Katz' on the lower east side may predate this little gem by almost 65 years (Katz' incredibly opened their doors in 1885) but this place more than holds its own and for MY money, has tastier cuts of meat than the latter. The waiter service was quick, friendly and prompt by a few good service industry "old timers" and that lends even more of a nostalgic feel to the joint. The fresh cut fries are amazing and remind me of those thick, potato, French fries you used to be able to get on the Coney Island boardwalk from the random food places OTHER than Nathan's soggy fries. The meat is lean and well seasoned, the pickles are crisp and cold and even the COLE SLAW (which I almost never eat) was AMAZING here. Check them out, you absolutely will keep coming back.

And couldn't he have been more professional and said something like "Sorry, we're busy but will be with you in a few minutes." ??? We will obviously not be returning. For those that don't…read moreknow, my wife is proudly from the Bronx, NY and she and my mother-in-law have timelessly introduced me to the life of Bagels on Bartow, Inc. I typically get the turkey sausage, egg & cheese! Or the everything bagel toasted with cream cheese. Did I mention their bagels are baked fresh everyday??!! Yup! They also have a section of Boar's Head meat section. Plus the desserts on top to close out the meal. When I came this time, I noticed the art work of the menu was gone and their presentation game has stepped up tremendously! The menu has lost that community - we-create-it-here feel, BUT we all need to evolve at some point. They're business growth is fine by me if it means they keep the quality of their food and the high level of engaged service to their customers. Within the first few seconds of me being in this establishment, I noticed the menu on the top wall gone and said, "what happened to the beautiful art wall menu?" and one of the employees joked with me saying "the customers need to see the beautiful new paint." That type of involvement means something to me. And I was glad to experience that today.

As far as the establishment goes it look pretty dinghy. I believe the surfaces of the cooking area walls can benefit from some deep cleaning. As for my 2 star rating I ordered a garlic bagel with two eggs sandwich and a small coffee. Waited 15 minutes before I finally asked how much longer for the bagel then she proceeded to look on top of a counter and handed me a bag which was sitting on top of a counter along with other orders, obviously not being kept at the right temperature and jokingly saying oh they must have bagged it and put their. Not even an apology for the mistake. Then to add insult to injury when I get home and open the bag it's the wrong order.

The baker's dozen (13 bagels) is worth it because you can choose between regular and specialty bagels and it still comes out to $24. They are pretty precise with the weight of spread you order, as well. We ordered the egg salad, tuna salad, and scallion cream cheese spread. The egg salad and tuna salad were mild in flavor, not heavy, tasted healthy. I've only come on weekends, so there is always a line out the door, but there are many staff members, so the line moves. If you are ordering a lot of bagels, be prepared for back-up options because although they are constantly making the bagels on the premise, popular options do run out and you may have to wait 15min for a new batch.
