Our friends live in Riverdale, so this Bagel corner store was just a few blocks from their apartment. They raved about the place. I got a pumpernickel one and my husband got the "everything" one. They were just ok...I don't think they were anything special. I have tried both NYC and Montreal bagels and I am definitely a Montreal bagel fan. Love coming here in the morning for fresh bagels. They all are uniquely delicious bursting with flavor. Just purchased half a dozen to take home. Put them in a ziplock and they stay fresh for the next few days. My personal favorite is the everything bagel little messy but so worth it. Staff is so kind a friendly. read more

Why anyone would come here expecting the people behind the counter to hold your hand as you get your first NYC bagel blows my mind. Go to one of the million chains. Come in, get your food, get out. They make terrific bagels and have lots of cream cheese options. Coffee is good, basic, and just what you want on your way to work. This place is always packed in the morning, the schools are close and there are lots of hungry parents, grandparents and kids. But the quality is not great, the bagels are just not that good. When you eat 1 bagel it's the equivalent of consuming one whole loaf of bread. So when you make that commitment, you want that bagel to be just right, the right size with a slightly crisp crust and a nicely balanced dough consistency inside. Plus their everything bagels always come out burnt, the cream cheese is always a huge lump in the middle. Look at the whitefish container attached, it's barely half full, that's freshly opened! The bagels were really good but it was a little stressful inside the store! Small space, crowded with a long line and staff trying to move the line along. From what I could see, the bagel flavors and cream cheese flavors were not listed anywhere inside so it was difficult to decide what to order. All worth it for a good bagel though. :) read more

Perfectly good bagels and spreads, okay service, but how can lox and cream cheese on a bagel be more expensive than a lox deluxe, which includes tomatoes and onions and capers? It makes no sense, and there's no response when I ask the staff why other than, I don't know; I didn't make the prices. A lot of dope cream cheese flavors and pretty ladies making your orders Con's: The ladies sometimes don't know how to handle more than 5 or more customers. Place got pretty busy on a Sunday morning. Service was kind of rude and snappy. They had ran out of everything bagels early in the morning which was unfortunate. I got a plain bagel with jalapeño spread which was good. It was pretty small inside and prices weren't terrible. read more

called in to place order as done in the past at its number. Got a VM that line busy and to leave message, which I did. Called again and got same VM. At shop, the cashier said no order called in and the shop has no VM. After checking phone number at the the shop, which was the same as I called, the cashier repeatedly refused to order it herself and only pointed and told me to place order directly . Seeing the obvious long line, I left. I do not believe that this was appropriate for your staff. I have purchased before without any difficulty. read more

If you are in Riverdale, BX area and on the go this place is definitely the best spot for a bagel. They had a line on Saturday morning but definitely the place to stop and chat with others. Service was fast. Plain bagel toasted with cream cheese was good. Black coffee was freshly made. It's pretty much your average neighborhood bagel shop. I'll say they are a very high 3, almost 4 stars. Absolutely friendly customer service and great prices. It's more of a takeout spot.The line is out the door during the weekends, but they usually try to get you out of there quickly. I try to get here early, before 9am. They're definitely NOT closed, as I have seen recorded by other Yelpers recently. Today is 1/09/21, and I just left the location with two pastrami Kings and a tuna melt in tow. I'm glad we took the chance and gave them a call to make sure that they were open. As usual, I called in my order while on the way, and by the time I got there within 15 minutes my order was ready. I inform the owner that Yelp page shows that they're closed. Business is definitely booming. I'm assuming that may be a few patrons assumed they were closed over the holidays. It's always best practice to order ahead and pick up. The line can be pretty intimidating but even if you order in person, they are pretty efficient and it will definitely be an in and out process. read more

My go-to neighborhood spot for bagels. I've been there at least monthly for the last few years, and sometimes weekly. Bagels are great. Pumpernickel bagel is missing something that I can't seem to put my finger - um, tongue - on, but a decent bagel, nonetheless. Cream cheese is always fresh. I've only ever gotten plain, scallion, or veggie cream cheese and they are all tasty. I've tried the lox, it was good. I've tried an egg sandwich, but they cook the scrambled egg longer than I like. Coffee is great first thing in the morning, but any time after about 9-10AM, the coffee starts to taste burnt. There is a decent variety of chilled beverages available. They have iced coffee and hot tea options. They also have a small selection of baked goods. The usual staff there are always friendly and efficient - they are focused on customers and preparing orders. Anytime I see confusion in the store, it's usually because a customer was not paying attention, or taking up space and not keeping it moving. Staff can only do but so much when customers aren't keeping the flow going, too. There are some counter height chairs and ledges for eating inside and outside. Not the most comfortable, but I've seen customers eat there without too much trouble. The entire place is not that large. It's usual to have a line going out the door on weekend mornings. I've witnessed an irate, condescending customer berate staff on two different occasions. It may have been the same customer both times, but I'm only about 75% sure of that. However, it was different staff during each incident and staff handled it with grace and professionalism. read more

Note to owner/manager: This is my go-to in the neighborhood but the staff is generally I'll-tempered and impatient. This morning I had a disturbing experience in that free samples were put out (nice touch, thank you) and I asked the gentleman at the cashier if there were nuts in the bread pudding and he responded "I don't know, they just put it out". I AM NOT ALLERGIC TO NUTS! but I believe nuts were in the bread pudding. I informed him that a person had recently died as a result of a nut allergy. He responded, "Well, if you have a doubt, just don't eat it". That combination of poor training and lack of knowledge and good sense, could trigger a massive lawsuit and take a business down. I never expect to be greeted by roaches when ordering a bagel at 10:17 AM. This is the second time I've seen in this bagel shop once a dead roach in the window now a roach crawling over the bagels in the bins. I was so pissed! It cost nothing for exterminators to come and spray. read more

Neither owner or employees have any concerns for customers with food allergies. I've asked several times to have the Lox moved to another area in serving station, so that it's not carried over, possibly contaminating, the cream cheese. Today was it! The Lox were literally laying on top of the cream cheese in the serving station!! When I voiced my concern to the owner and reminded him about our past conversations about the serving station set up, he responded with "Oh she's a lovely girl". Wait. What? Who said anything about the girl?? I'm concerned about my allergies and this guy is completely oblivious to the conversation. He offered to make new bagels for me but I refused, the bagel's were for my husband and our dog. But the fact remains they have no concern for food allergies! Food is always made fresh and quickly, i've come here a few times and carefully observed before writing a review. I normally get a mini bagel toasted with veggie spread Tuna, it's very tasty and just enough for a quick bite.
